Gaylord Dabill 1915 - 2004 ; Pine River
Gaylord Dabill, age 89, of Pine River, passed away Dec. 22, 2004 at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center in Pine River. Born June 27, 1915 in Pine River to True & Harriet Dabill.
He attended Pine Valley School, rural Pine River. In 1936 he married Faith Brant in Walker. He lived most of his life in Pine River, where he served on the Pine River Township Board for many years, was an election judge and fire warden and member of the Cass County Zoning Committee. He also lived in Walker, Cass Lake and Ely where he ran a lumber mill. Gaylord was a lifelong and talented millwright, farmer, lumberman and machinery inventor. He invented a wood stake pointer still being used today. He loved the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter and conservationist.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Faith; daughters Helen Larson of Phoenix and Joan Horn of Fargo; sons Bill (Rae) of Backus, Phil (Linda) of Naples, FL, Bob (Char) of Baxter, Mike (Lu) of Kansas City, KS; 19 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Jones of Oregon; brothers Don of Pine River and John of Fargo.
He was preceded in death by brothers Everett, George, Alvin, Paul and sister Priscilla.
Services were Dec. 27, 2004, at Riverview Church in Pine River with Pastor Mark Erickson and Pastor Jack Trosen officiating. Burial is in Mildred Cemetery. Arrangements by Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.

Harold H. Buschmann 1926 - 2004; Pequot Lakes
Harold H. Buschmann, age 78, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at his home in Pequot Lakes.
Harold Hurbert Buschmann was born on October 9, 1926, on his family's farm in Sibley Township, Pequot Lakes, the son of Emmanuel and Crecentia (Sieber) Buschmann. Harold served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Except during his time in the service, Harold has been a lifelong Pequot Lakes resident. He was united in marriage to Sharon James on June 14, 1969 in Nisswa. Over the years, Harold had been a farmer, bartender for the Pequot Lakes American Legion, school bus driver and did road maintenance for the City of Breezy Point from which he retired in 1989. Harold was a member of the Pequot Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, Pequot Lakes American Legion and a lifelong member of the Jenkins V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Joseph and daughter, Julie, all of Pequot Lakes; one granddaughter, Elicia; sisters: Alma Christenson, Pine River; Norma Edwards, Sacramento, California; and Irene Darden, Rockford, Ill.; brothers: Max, Montevideo; Rollie, Grand Meadow, and Larry, Breezy Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Werner and Richard.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes with Rev. Dr. David N. Stevens to officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the Willim-St. Onge Family Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes and one hour prior to services at the church. Harold will receive military honors provided by the American Legion Post #49 in Pequot Lakes.
Arrangements are with Willim-St. Onge Family Funeral Homes in Pequot Lakes.

Frances D. Erickson 1926 - 2004; Crosslake
Frances "Frannie" D. (Roisom) Erickson, 78, of Crosslake, died Dec. 24, 2004, at Abbott-Northwestern Medical Center in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Maynard; children Linda (Randy) Rosengren, Wayne (Kriss) Erickson, Janice (Tom) DesCombaz, Bradley (Terri) Erickson; grandchildren Ross Rosengren, Jill (Mike) Souza, Scott and Michael Erickson, Amber Erickson; and great-granddaughter Emma Grace Souza. Frannie was a member of the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion Post No. 500 Women's Auxiliary. She loved life, her family, friends and a good joke. Memorials are preferred (donor's choice) in lieu of flowers.
Memorial services were Dec. 28, 2004 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake.

Charlotte Falstrom
1945 - 2005; Backus
Charlotte Falstrom, 59, Backus, died Jan. 2, 2005, at St. Cloud Hospital.

Charles Finne
1925 - 2004; Nisswa
Charles H. Finne, 79, Nisswa, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at his home in Nisswa.
He was born on March 24, 1925, to Harry and Anne (Nyland) Finne.
He is survived by children Chris Baxter and Peter Finne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy; and brother Gary.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at 10:30 am at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Tongen officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Bonnie Hansen
1938 - 2004; Longville
Bonnie (Strom) Hansen, 66, Longville, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
She was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Breckenridge, Minn., to Orville and Hazel Strom. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Breckenridge. She attended Breckenridge Public Schools and graduated in 1956. She then attended the State School of Science at Wahpeton, N.D. Bonnie transferred to St. Cloud State College and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in elementary education. While attending college in St. Cloud she met her husband Bill. Upon graduation Bonnie became employed and taught second grade and kindergarten in Princeton where Bill was a biology teacher.
Bonnie and Bill were married April 19, 1960. In 1962, they purchased a lake cabin on Inguadons Lake where they spent the summer and school vacations. They always enjoyed the time they spent in Longville and wanted to make Longville their home. In 1977, the family made the decision to move to Longville full time and start a Real Estate business. Longville has remained their home.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, reading, puzzles, watching birds, fishing and her dog 'Buffy.' Bonnie was also a supporter of the Longville Library and the Humane Society. She appreciated her many special friends who were members of the Petal Pushers Garden Club and the Birthday Club.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; son Bill Jr. (Laura); daughter Stacey (Kevin) Boeckenstadt; four grandchildren; sister Linda Thulen; and her mother Hazel Strom; and other members of her parent's family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Orville Strom.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Jan. 8 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Longville. Memorials may be directed to the "Longville Area Community Foundation."

Robert Hansen
1926 - 2004 1; Hackensack
Robert "Bob" A. Hansen, 79, Hackensack, died on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at his home.
Robert (Bob) Andrew Hansen was born July 7, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Christan S. and Marie (Paulsen) Hansen. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. He served his country as Seaman Second Class USNR in the United States Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Daniels on May 10, 1957, at City Hall in Chicago. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Midlothian, Ill. Bob was employed with Roadway Trucking Co. for 45 years as an over-the-road truck driver. After his wife passed away, he moved to Hackensack. Bob was a member of the Hackensack American Legion Post No. 202 where he was the commander from 1996-2000. He also was a lifetime member to the VFW. Bob also has been a union steward for Teamsters for eight years during his trucking career. Bob enjoyed fishing and yard work.
He is survived by companion Fran Christopherson, Hackensack; son Robert T. (Cheryl) of Fort Lewis, Wash.; daughter, Christine M. (Lyle) Bettenhausen of Manteno, Ill.; one grandson; sister, Elsie (George) Maclean, Alaska, and Marylou (Richard) Pajor, Illinois; seven nephews; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and infant daughter Mary Beth.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Union Congregational Church, Hackensack, with Pastor Michael J. Small officiating.

Wayne Edwards
1921 - 2005 1; former Backus resident
Wayne John Edwards, 83, Fort Meade, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center.
Wayne was born September 8, 1921 in Miller, S.D. to Guy and Helena (Patske) Edwards. He graduated from Backus High School. In 1944 he entered the Army, serving in the South Pacific where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
He is survived by sisters Mary Melby Wade of Backus, Anita Thompson of Centerville; brothers Earl of San Diego, David of Miller, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Ann Marlow and brother Albert.
The family wishes to thank all the employees of the VA Medical Center for the heart-felt compassionate care that was given the past 11 years.
Graveside services with military honors were January 5 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established to the Fort Meade VHCU E, 113 Commanche, Fort Meade, SD 57741.

Marion Draeger
1922 - 2004; Pine River
Marion Joyce Thea Draeger, 82, Pine River, died Dec. 30, 2004, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, Minn.
Marion was born near Bagley on December 7, 1922 to William and Amanda Knutsen. She grew up in Minneapolis and then lived in Montgomery, Chicago, Brainerd, St. Cloud and Andover, before moving to Pine River in 2000. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and ceramics.
She is survived by son Dan of Pine River; daughters Sandra (Jon) Pierce of Chicago, Kathleen Jackson of Bloomington, Rebecca Halin of Andover; daughters-in-law Marlene Graham-Brooks of Mound, Paula Westphal of Pine River; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Andrew; sister Doris Howell; and two grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 3 at the Willim-St. Onge Family Funeral Home in Pine River. Burial will be at the Morning Side Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids, at a later date.

Gordon L. Clawson
1927 - 2004; former Backus resident
Gordon L. Clawson, 77, Aurora, Colorado and formerly of Backus, died December 21, 2004 at his home.
He is survived by his wife Darlene; daughter Christie; son Leslie (Rebecca); and three grandchildren.

Edna Glasby
1920 - 2004; former Pine River resident
Edna Sylvia Glasby, 84, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
Edna was born April 19, 1920 in Spruce Grove Twp. to Lydia Stene. She married Lee Glasby in Rochester.
She is survived by sons Henry of Red Wing, Paul Glasby of Wanamingo; daughters Stella Curtis of Indiana, Lucille Balster of Red Wing; Deloris "Sue" Riley of Pine River, Victoria Dahlstrom of Red Wing, Sylvia Glasby of Red Wing, Gloria Burr of Cannon Falls, Charlotte Pederson of Pine River; step-daughter Lorraine Osmera of Nebraska; many grand children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Services were January 3 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home in Hastings, with burial in Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
