Place of Funeral: -- Crosslake Lutheran Church -- February 24, 2001

Karen V. Swanson, age 61, of Crosslake, died Sunday afternoon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00 in Crosslake Lutheran Church with Reverend Mark Anderson officiating. Relatives will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 to 8 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake.
Karen was born on February 20th, 1939 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Marshall and Vernice (Wickman) Weimar. She grew up and attended school in Albert Lea, Pine River, and graduated with the Cumberland, WI, Class of 1957. She went on the University of Minnesota where she earned a degree in Physical Therapy. Afterward she worked in a variety of settings around the Twin Cities while she pursued her Masters Degree. On June 28th, 1975 she married John Swanson, together they made their home in the Minnetonka area. For 10 years she taught in the P.T. Assistants program at the St. Mary’s Jr. College in Minneapolis. Following their move to Crosslake 4 years ago she worked at the Pine River Nursing Home. Karen was a member of the Crosslake Lutheran Church, active in a variety of its groups, sang in the Church Choir, and was a member of the The Big Kids, a singing group originally based in Golden Valley. She served earlier as the President of the Excelsior Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed traveling with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, John, her father, Marshall Weimar of Florida, 2 sons, Marc Thompson of Florida, and Steven Swanson of Biglake, 2 daughters, Diana Thompson of Plymouth, and Lisa Titus of California, a brother Paul Weimar of Florida, and 7 grandchildren. Her mother and 2 infant siblings preceded her in death.

Memorials are preferred to the Parker-Hughes Cancer Center in Roseville.

Paul David Haglin
January 4, 1971 - November 10, 2000

Place of Funeral: -- Faith Lutheran Church - Staples, MN -- Tuesday, November 14, 2000

Paul D. Haglin, age 29, of Fargo formerly of Staples, died on Friday, November 10, 2000 at his home. Services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 14th at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Steve Sveom officiating. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 to 8 PM at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Burial will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Paul David Haglin was born on January 4, 1971, in Staples, MN to Wayne and Ardis (Johnson) Haglin. He attended school in Staples graduating from Staples High School in 1989. He went on to attend St. Cloud State University, graduating in 1993. Right after college he moved to Minneapolis and took a job with Fourth Shift. From 1994 to 1998 he lived in Madison, WI where he worked for Persoft. In 1998, Paul moved to Fargo, ND and worked at Great Plains Software. He was the Minnesota State Junior League Bowling Champion in 1988 and currently played in a Fargo Bowling League. He was a member of the choir and band in high school and sang in the Minnesota All State Lutheran Choir in 1988 to 1989. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed surfing the web.

Paul is survived by his parents, Wayne and Ardis of Staples; 11 brothers and sisters: Lorene J. (Ed) Ashford of Almont, MI, Daniel W. (Brenda) Haglin of Alexandria, MN, Renee B. (Charles) Canver of Albany, NY, David J. (Nadine) Haglin of St. Peter, MN, Diane J. (Dave) Markovich of Minnetonka, MN, Kevin L. (Amy) Haglin of St. Cloud, MN, Michael J. (Molly) Haglin of Plymouth, MN, Greg C. (Lisa) Haglin of Staples, Jon A. (Heidi) Haglin of Little Falls, MN, James C. Haglin of Mankato, MN and Mark A. (Wendy) Haglin of Staples; his fiancé, Tina L. Huwe of Fargo, ND; as well as many nieces and nephews. His grandparents preceded him in death.

Kylee Jo Denny Copa

Kylee Jo Denny Copa, age 8, of Brainerd, Minnesota died Thursday, November 9, 2000 at her home after a long illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 13 at 2:00 PM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, with Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 12 from 1 - 3 PM with parish prayers at 2:00 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Burial will follow in the Baxter City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
Kylee Jo was born in Brainerd on February 10, 1992. She is survived by her parents Todd and Krista (Copa) Johnson and Lewie Denny and 1 sister Jayda Johnson all of Brainerd. Grandparents, Doug & Bev Copa and Brian and Kay Johnson all of Baxter, Minnesota, Barbara & Terry Martin of Gladstone Oregon, Lewis & Deb Denny of Brainerd; Great Grandparents, Josephine Copa of Little Falls, Minnesota, Byron & Darlene Clifford of Baxter, Minnesota and Vera Denny of Sun City, California; many aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends and very special friends Helen Danielson of Brainerd and Tyler Anderson.

Harley Lundquist
August 28, 1920 - November 25, 2000

Harley L. Lundquist, age 80, of Motley, MN, died Saturday evening, November 25, 2000, at his home. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, November 30th, at 1:00 PM, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, with Reverend Bob Osell officiating. Burial will follow at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
Harley L. Lundquist was born on August 28, 1920, in Ilse, MN, to Elmer Harry and Iona Christina (Owens) Lundquist. He grew up and attended school in the Motley area. He graduated from Motley High School in 1939. He went on to attend night school in Staples in auto mechanics. He entered the Army Air Force in February, 1946, and served as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic for the duration of the war. He farmed in Blair Township west of Motley, MN until his retirement. For the past many years, Harley lived in Motley.

Harley is survived by friends, neighbors and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lester, Owen, Warren and Norman.

Jessie Boudrye

Jessie Boudrye, age 88, of Pequot Lakes, died on Saturday, May 19, 2001, at her home. Services will be on Monday, June 4, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in So St Paul. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to the American Lung Association. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
Jessie Boudrye was born on September 3, 1912 in So St Paul to the late Wm. and Christine (Kelson) Dunwoody. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Journalism. She was united in marriage to Mason Boudrye in So St Paul in December of 1937. She was a homemaker and did secretarial work. She was on the Dakota County Nursing Board. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of So St Paul and a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and reading.

Jessie Boudrye is survived by 1 son; Charles (Marie) Boudrye of Pequot Lakes, 1 daughter; Mary Christine Boudrye of Littleton, Colorado. 1 sister; Agnes Kachel of St Paul, MN, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Ruth Ann Kimball

Ruth Kimball, age 59, of Jenkins, MN died November 8 at her home. Services will be Tuesday, November 13 at 1:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church in Brainerd, MN with Reverend Jim Goodew officiating. Visitation will be 1hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
Ruth Ann Kimball was born February 3, 1942 in Kirkwood, Missouri, daughter of Wm. O. & Mary (Patterson) Bailey. She graduated from school at St. Clair, Missouri. Her family moved to Montana, where she met and married Robert Kimball on December 16, 1961, in Great Falls. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Grey Summit, Missouri. In 1973 they moved to Nashwauk, MN and lived there until 1984,when they returned to St. Clair, Missouri. In May of 1999, they moved to Jenkins, where Ruth had since resided. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary and ABC Bowling Congress. Ruth owned and operated restaurants while she lived in Montana and Missouri. Ruth enjoyed her family, grandchildren, bowling, fishing and cooking.

Ruth is survived by her husband Robert; a daughter Kathy Kirkvold of Brainerd; 3 sons Robert (Roberta) Kimball of Rolla Missouri, Richard Kimball of Backus, MN, James Kimball of Brainerd; a sister Barbara Schneider of Springfield, Missouri; a brother Wm. R. Baily of Gerard, Missouri and 9 grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death.

Regene Paulson

Place of Funeral: -- Bethany Good Samaritan Chapel -- October 23, 2001

Regene Hayenga Paulson, age 84, of Brainerd died Thursday, October 18, 2001 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. A celebration of her life will be held at Bethany Good Samaritan Village on Tuesday, October 23, at 7:00 PM, with Reverend Len Anderson officiating. Interment will be at the Nisswa Cemetery. Memorials are preferred, to Augustana College of Sioux Falls, SD or to Bethany Good Samaritan Village of Brainerd. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
Regene was born December 14, 1916 in Dell Rapids, SD, to Agnes (Solie) and Leonard Halvorson. She attended public schools in Dell Rapids and graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls in 1938. She taught English for one year in Alton, IA. She returned to Sioux Falls and worked at Augustana College and also worked as a musician. Regene married George “Del” Hayenga on August 9, 1941, in Moscow, ID. They lived in Moscow and Ft. Lewis, WA until 1946, when they moved to Ottumwa, IA. During her twenty years in Ottumwa Regene was a member of First Lutheran Church, PEO, was active in many musical organizations and taught piano lessons. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, singing, and golfing. The family moved to the Chicago area in 1966, where they helped establish a Lutheran mission church and she directed the choir. In 1974 they returned to Brainerd. Regene was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, AAUW, PEO, and the Sons of Norway. After being widowed in 1976 she became partners with Marlene Larson in the Skandihus Gift Shop, a partnership that continued until her marriage to Gordon Paulson on December 11, 1982. She lived in Brainerd and San Antonio, TX until being widowed in 1998, when she returned to Brainerd. She enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and the world.

Regene is survived by four daughters, Diane (Mrs.Chris) Foote of Deephaven, Judy Hayenga of Lancaster, PA, Mary (Mrs.Steve) Suer of Brainerd, and Karen (Mrs.Carl) Schirmer, also of Brainerd; two sisters, Harriet Glenn of Charlotte, NC, and Bergliot Benzon of Glenwood MN; a brother Rev. Arndt Halvorson of Waconia MN; twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Her parents and two husbands preceded her in death.

Dolores Albright

Dolores Albright, age 86, of Brainerd, Minnesota, died Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. A memorial service will be held in the Bethany Good Samaritan Village Chapel on Oct. 30, 2001 at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
Dolores Vivian Albright was born on March 14, 1915 in Goodell, Iowa daughter of James Henry and Emma Amelia (Hahn) Bremmer. Dolores graduated from high school in Eldora, Iowa. She was married to Bruce W. Albright and together they owned and operated a farm at Grundy Center, Iowa. She has been residence of Brainerd for the last 29 years.

Dolores is survived by a sister Gladys Ward of Brainerd and a nephew, James W. Eaton of Sedona, AZ. Her husband, Bruce, and parents preceded her in death.

Eino Elmer Jutila

Eino Elmer Jutila, age 82, of Fifty Lakes died on Sunday, September 23, 2001 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Memorial services will be Friday, September 28, 2001, at 1:30 PM in the new Crosslake Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Roger Grussing officiating. Committal services and interment will be in LeSueur, MN, on Thursday, September 27, with Reverend Kari L. Jutila and Reverend Deanna Reikow officiating. Fellowship and refreshments will follow, at the Presbyterian Church in LeSueur. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
Eino Elmer Jutila was born on November 24, 1918, in Great Scott Township in Britt, MN, to Henry and Evelyn (Haveri) Jutila. He grew up in Britt, and graduated from high school in Buhl, MN. He began attending Virginia Junior College but was drafted for service in the US Army during WWII. He spent his military tour at Oak Ridge, TN. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he resumed his education at the University of Minnesota. In 1949 he graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry. He met and married his wife of 47 years, Edith Joyce Ostreim Jutila in Golden Valley, MN on September 18, 1953. The family lived in LeSueur, where Elmer worked as a research chemist for Green Giant for 26 years. Following an early retirement, he worked as a consultant for General Mills. He and Joyce moved to their home on West Fox Lake in Fifty Lakes in 1993, and wintered in Sebring, FL. He was a member of the Crosslake Presbyterian Church, serving on their Building Committee. He enjoyed golfing, and was a member of the golf club in Pine River and served on the board of the LeSueur golf course. Elmer loved working with youth, and was a volunteer coach for Little League baseball and basketball and an advisor for Junior Achievement. Deer hunting with his son was important and fun for him. He also enjoyed following the stock market and his investments. He will be remembered as a congenial man, with a great sense of humor.

Eino Elmer Jutila is survived by his wife Joyce; a daughter Kari Lee Jutila of Casselton, ND; a son Jon Eino Jutila of Maple Grove; and a sister Helmi Rekonen of Virginia, MN. His parents, 2 sisters, and a son Erik preceded him in death.

R. Milton Ertl
May 8, 1939 - February 2, 2002

R. Milton Ertl, age 62, of Crosslake, MN, formerly of Minneapolis, died on Saturday, February 2nd at his home. Services are 2:00 PM on Wednesday, Feb. 6th at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the chapel. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
R. Milton Ertl was born on May 8, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN to Rudolph and Dorothy (Shepherd) Ertl. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Minneapolis North High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from the University of Minnesota. He worked for the UniSys Corporation from 1963 to 1994. Upon his retirement in 1994, he moved to his home on Crosslake. He was a member of the Shriners. Milton enjoyed genealogy, stamp collecting, fishing and especially time spent at "his beloved lake". Milton and his survivors appreciated all the wonderful care that he received at the Brainerd Dialyses Unit.

James H. Copeland
November 24, 1926 - February 9, 2002

Place of Funeral: -- Crosslake Immaculate Heart Church -- Wednesday, February 14, 2002

James H. Copeland, age 75, a resident of Fifty Lakes, MN died Saturday at his home after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis and cancer. Services will be Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart Church in Crosslake, MN with Father Dennis Hoffman officiating, burial will be in the Minnesota State Cemetery at Camp Ripley. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors to be provided by the Pequot Lakes American Legion Post #568. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
James Howard Copeland was born on November 24, 1926 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to Henry and Maggie (Owens) Copeland. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 - 1948 during World War II. He was united in marriage to his wife Leona Matros of 49 years, 11 months and 3 weeks on February 16, 1952 in Portland Oregon. They lived in Glasgow, Montana for ten years before moving to Minnesota in 1966. He retired from Hunt Electric in St. Paul and Holden Electric in Brainerd as an Electrical Estimator and Project Manager. Jim was an avid sportsman and taught his children to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Pequot Lakes American Legion Post #568 and the Jenkins VFW Post #3839.

James Copeland is survived by his wife; Leona, 2 daughters; Deborah Theiler of Las Vegas, Nevada, Danielle (Charlie) Bethke of Crystal, Mn; 3 sons, Jim (Terry) Copeland of Blaine, MN, Tom (Colleen) Copeland of Minneapolis, Todd (Ann) Copeland of Fridley, MN; 1 sister; Joan Reed of Byron, Georgia; a brother, Kenneth Copeland of Columbus, Georgia, 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers.
