Donal Sharon
December 21, 1935 - june 29, 2001

Donald “Don” Wayne Sharon was born on December 21, 1935, in Cushing, MN, to Van and Mildred (Fisher) Sharon. He grew up in Cushing and attended country school. He moved with his family to Randall, MN where Don graduated with the Little Falls High School Class of 1953. On October 17, 1953, he married Annie Packer at the United Methodist Church in Motley, MN. Together they moved to Minneapolis where Don worked for the Rich McFarlane Stone Factory and later Franklin Manufacturing. In the mid 1950’s they returned to the Cushing/Randall area to raise their family. During those years Don worked road construction, drove milk truck, and then spent 32 years with Hennepin Paper in Little Falls, retiring in 1998.
Don was an active member of the Randall/Cushing Lions Club and belonged to the Wednesday morning cribbage club. He enjoyed watching TV and was an avid reader. He loved sports, playing cards, cribbage, deer hunting, Blue Grass and Old Time music. He was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins and never missed a game. Don played the guitar, organ, piano, accordian, and attempted to play the banjo and violin. He had a great sense of humor if you could ever find a joke he hadn’t already heard. Don loved being with people, especially his children and grandchildren. He truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

Don is survived by his wife, Annie of Randall; 6 children, Cheryl Salber and husband Steve of Browerville, MN, Daryl and wife Sue of Cushing, Linda Andres of Big Lake, MN, Debbie Schnobrich and husband Gary of Cushing, Julie DeZurik and husband Gary of Randall, Mike and fiancée Jessica of Cushing; 20 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandsons; 2 brothers, Jerry and wife Shirley of Motley, and Larry and wife Pat of Randall; a sister, Jean Davidson and husband Gary of Duluth, MN, and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Packer of Little Falls. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends will also sadly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law, Doug Andres, and his father-in-law, Ethan Packer.

LeRoy E. Loucks

LeRoy E. Loucks, age 89, of Motley, MN, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at the Greater Staples Care Center. Services will be 1:30 PM, on Wednesday, July 11th, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, with Pastor Les Crider officiating. Friends may call Tuesday evening, from 6 to8 PM, at the Brenny Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Motley Public Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
LeRoy Elbert Loucks was born on September 28, 1911, in Motley, MN, to Albert and Annie (Clemens) Loucks. It was in Motley that he grew up and attended public schools. He farmed in the Motley area for a few years before moving to Pillager where he worked at the Pillager Creamery for many years. When the creamery closed, LeRoy went to work in the Quality Control Department at Land-o-Lakes in Brainerd. Following his retirement LeRoy continued to live in Pillager until moving to Sunny Pines in Motley in 1986. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and picking berries.

LeRoy is survived by a daughter, Donna (Vivien) Griffith of Motley; a son, Robert (Joan) Loucks of Pillager; a brother, Cecil Loucks of Bovey, MN; 8 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 6 sisters.

Max Edwards Maas

Place of Funeral: -- Crosslake Evangelical Free Church -- Sat. July 14, 2001 10:30 AM

Max Maas, age 69, of Crosslake, MN died on Monday, July 10, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Funeral services will be at the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, July 14, at 10:30 AM, with Reverend Jeffrey Jensen officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, from 7 - 8 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, and ½ hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in the Pinewood Cemetery of Crosslake. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements are by the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
Max Edwards Maas was born on November 27, 1931 in Massena, Iowa, to Glenn D. and Ruth M. (Johnson) Maas. He grew up and attended school in Massena. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served as a gunner during the Korean conflict. He began his career by farming with his father. He went on to become the manager of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Creston, IA. In 1967 he joined the Cornelius Co. in Anoka, where he became Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He was married to his wife Judy on May 27, 1978, at the Little Brown Church in Hampton, IA. The couple lived and worked in Anoka, and vacationed in Crosslake. In 1986 they started Molecular Repair Concepts, and they moved the business and their family home to Crosslake in 1990. Max enjoyed being involved in the community and was a member of the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church. He is most remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Max Maas is survived by his wife Judy; 3 sons, Todd Maas of Grimes, IA, Scott (Jean) Maas of Crosslake, and John Maas of Inver Grove Heights; 5 grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer, and Chandra Maas and Ashley and Spencer Maas; his mother, Ruth Maas of Massena, IA, a brother Gary (Judy) Maas of Massena, IA, and other special family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Maas.

Leona L. Roberts
May 15, 1910 - June 10, 2001

Leona Louise Roberts was born on May 15, 1910, in Wadena, MN to Henry and Mary (Haase) Bartelt. She grew up and attended school in Wadena. On October 27, 1930, married Richard M. Roberts in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Wadena until 1944 when they moved to Staples in 1944 where they have resided since. Leona was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Railroad Firemen’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, playing bridge and pinochle.
Leona is survived by 2 sons, Richard (Gladys) Roberts of Staples and John (Connie) Roberts of Sun City West, AZ; a daughter, Patricia (Frederick) Knapp of Dallas, TX; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Her parents her husband, Richard; a great-grandson, Joel Roberts; and 6 brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Dru K. Sjodin
Sept. 26, 1981 - April 17, 2004

Dru K. Sjodin was born September 26, 1981 in Minneapolis, MN to Allan Sjodin and Linda (Sutfin) Walker. She began her education attending various schools in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. In 1992, Dru, along with her family, moved to Pequot Lakes, MN. She was enrolled Pequot Lakes School system. She graduated from Pequot Lakes High School in 2000. She attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Dru enjoyed art, drawing, and music. Dru won her first artistic award in kindergarten. Dru participated in volleyball and basketball. She had an incredible voice that she loved to share. She was an avid golfer; winning the Golf Spirit Award. She was named Pequot Lakes 1999 Homecoming Queen. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Mexico.
Dru is survived by her mother, Linda (Sidney) Walker, of Pequot Lakes, MN; her father, Allan Sjodin, of Minneapolis, MN; her brother, Sven (Melinda) Sjodin, of Anaheim Hills, CA; her maternal grandparents, Drew and Betty Jo (Butler) Sutfin, of Spearfish, SD; her nephews, Caleb and Micah Sjodin, of Anaheim Hills, CA; and her boyfriend, Chris Lang, of Bloomington, MN. Dru is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents.

Funeral Services for Dru will be 1:30 PM, Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, MN, with Reverend Mark Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake, MN. Family will receive friends from 4 PM-8PM, Friday, April 23 at Crosslake Lutheran Church in Crosslake, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Dru Sjodin Scholarship Foundation in Pequot Lakes, MN or to the Pequot Lakes Library Fund.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake, MN.

Ernest Jaschke

Ernest E. ‘Bud’ Jaschke, age 76, of rural Randall, died Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 27th at 10:30 in St. James Catholic Church in Randall. Burial will follow in the St James Parish Cemetery. Relatives will receive friends on Friday evening from 4 to 7 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall. Parish Prayers will be said at 6:00 and the Rosary will begin at 7:00.
Ernest was born on August 1st, 1927, on the Jaschke family farm, five miles southwest of Randall, MN to the late Paul and Gertrude (Kempenich) Jaschke. He grew up in Parker Township and attended country school at District #53 before going to Little Falls Community High School where he graduated with the Class of 1945. He served his country as a military police officer in Panama during the Korean War. Ernest was united in marriage to Marcine Turchin on May 27th, 1958 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Brandon, MN. Ernest and Marcine, along with their 11 children, farmed southwest of Randall for nearly 40 years. The Jaschke farm was honored by the Governor of Minnesota as a Centennial Farm in 1997. Ernest was an active member of St. James Catholic Church and a past member of the Parish Council. Bud enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was very much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Ernest is survived by his wife; Marcine, son, John and his wife Kathy of St. Paul; son, Stephen and his wife Karen of St Cloud; son, Thomas and his wife Jody of Erie, CO; daughter. Mary (Jaschke) Reinke and her husband Robert of Waukesha, WI; son Donald of St. Paul, MN; daughter. Ann (Jaschke) Mueller and her husband Steven of Maple Lake; daughter, Jeanne (Jaschke) Pugh and her husband Glen of Pierz; son, Leo and his wife Kathy of Westminster, CO; daughter, Laura (Jaschke) VanDenheuvel and her husband Ryan of Princeton; son Jeffery and his wife Rachel of St. Cloud, and son Gregory of Richland, WA; 15 grandchildren; Emma and Karl Jaschke, Mitchell and Madison Jaschke, Mikah and Zariah Jaschke, Michael, Kaitlyn, and Johnathan Reinke, Travis, Justin, and Evan Pugh, Andrew Jaschke, Mark and Anna VanDenheuvel; sister, Caroline Klinker of Finland, MN; sister, Audrey Baron and her husband Richard of Browerville, sisters-in-law, Cecilia Jaschke of Southgate, Mich.;Beulah Jaschke of Randall; and Doreen Jaschke of Long Prairie, brother-in law; Milton Voltin of Delano, and 37 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Carl, Leo, Matt, and Mark; sisters, Threasa, Evelyn (Flesland), Margaret (Altrichter) and Catherine (Voltin), brother-in-laws; Harvey Klinker, Fritz Flesland, Adolph Altrichter, and a granddaughter; Maranda Jaschke.

Edna Marie Zika

Edna Marie Zika, 88, of Backus, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Memorial services will be at a later date. Survived by her children, Jean (Dale) Krause, of Backus, and James (Lynette) Zika, of St. Paul; grandchildren, Robert Krause and Alison Farmer; and sister, Minnie Neubauer, of Pine River. Preceded by husband, Henry; parents, Martin and Catherine Wold; and sister, Clara Deigel. Arrangements entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.

William Handlos
Oct. 14, 1922 - Feb 2, 2003

William Arnold Handlos, 80, of Staples died Sunday, February 2, 2003 at the Staples Care Center. William was born October 14, 1922 in St. Paul, to William F. and Florence Handlos. He grew up and attended school in St. Paul. He enlisted in the US Army and served during WWII, working as an airplane mechanic. Following his honorable discharge he farmed near Aitkin. He also owned and operated a resort in the Aitkin area. He moved to St. Paul to care for his aging mother. Three years ago he became a resident at the Staples Care Center.
William Handlos is survived by his son Gary (Jan) Handlos of Baxter, a brother Richard Handlos of St. Paul, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Patrick Handlos. His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, February 5, 10:00, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Arrangements are by Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.

Raymond Frank Witucki
Feb 2, 1927 - March 21, 2003

Ray Witucki, age 76, a resident of rural Randall, died Friday March 21, 2003 at his home in Darling Township. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 AM at St James Catholic Church in Randall with Fr Al Quade officiating, burial will be in St James Cemetery. The relatives will receive friends from 5 till 8 PM on Monday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall. Parish prayers will be at 6;30 Monday nite.
Raymond Frank Witucki was born on Feruary 2, 1927 in Appleton, Mn son of the late; Frank and Elizabeth (Eidenshenk) Witucki. He was united in marriage to; Wilma Schultz on January 25th, 1947 in Seattle, WA. He served in the US Navy aboard the West Virginia during World War receiving 5 battle stars. He and his wife moved to a farm East of Randall, MN, where they farmed and he worked at the Hennepin Paper Mill for 35 years, he retired in 1991. He enjoyed bowling and sports. He was a member of the VFW of Little Falls.

He is survived by his wife; Wilma, 4 daughters, Barbara Bollig of Sartell, Sandra (Sonny) Peterson of Swanville, Pamela (Danny) Sutton of Swanville, Victoria (Harvey) Spandl of Randall, 3 sons; Perry Witucki of Randall, Steven Witucki of Randall, Thomas and his wife Mary (Norwood) Witucki of Little Falls. 4 sisters; Genevieve Marty of Lake Mills, Wisc, Josephine DeNio of Little Falls, Donna (Tom) Rubedor of Lake Mills, Wisc, Dorothy (David) Heiman of Lake Mills, Wisc, 3 brothers; Edward Witucki of Little Falls, George (Marlene) Witucki of Johnson Creek, Wisc, James (Delores) Witucki of Little Falls. 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister; Bernice Hansmann.

Cynthia Feustel
May 23, 1968 - April 13, 2003

Cynthia Feustel, age 34, of Randall, MN died Sunday at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. Cynthia was born on May 23, 1968 in South St. Paul daughter of John and Linda (Mann) Berghorst. She moved to Hillman with her parents and graduated from Pierz High School. She Joined the National Guard. She attended St. Ben’s and graduated with an LPN degree. Cindy then joined the United States Army and moved to Ft. Ord in Monterey, CA where she served in the Army as an LPN. She met Doug and was married on May 2, 1992 in Pacific Grove, CA. They lived in Monterey and then moved to Battle Creek, MI where she worked at the local hospital for 5 years. They moved to Randall in 1998 and she continued wording as an LPN. She enjoyed puzzles and embroidery work.
Cynthia is survived by her husband Doug; daughter Emily at home; her parents John & Linda Berghorst of Randall; brother Jim (Toni) Berghorst of Fulda; maternal grandparents Verna & Charles Mann of Laverne. One son Joel and paternal grandparents Sam and Dorothy Berghorst preceded her in death.

Services will be on Wednesday, April 16 at 11 AM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall with Reverend Bruce Daily officiating. Burial will be in the Rail Prairie Union Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 - 8 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall.

James R. Stockard

James R. Stockard, 62, of Crosslake, (Fairfield Township) died Saturday, May 3, at his home. James Richard Stockard was born July 10, 1940 in Ann Arbor, MI to Alfred and Jewel (Beard) Stockard. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a BSEE in electrical engineering in 1963. On August 31, 1963 he was united in marriage to Mary Ayers in Dexter, MI. He was employed at Control Data of Arden Hills, from 1963 - 1992 in computer development. He served as Shoreview City Planning Commissioner from 1975 - 1981. He was the retired owner of Clamshell Beach Resort, Ideal Township, active in resort owners associations (MRA & CMR), and the White Fish Lodging Association (WALA), and a seasonal tax employee at Larson Allen at their St. Cloud and Brainerd offices.
James is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Christine (Daniel) Stockard Christ of Iowa City, IA; son John (Vanessa) Stockard of Minnetonka, MN; one grandson; one granddaughter, and a sister Martha Jane Stockard of Vallejo, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.

Services will be on Friday, May 9, at 11 AM, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake with Reverend Mark Anderson officiating, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
