Floyd D. Brandt
ROSEAU, Minn. -- Floyd D. Brandt, 73, Roseau, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at home in Salol, Minn.
Floyd Dalton Brandt was born Dec. 21, 1924, the son of William and Antonia (Lisell) Brandt, in Roseau. He attended school in Malung, Minn. He farmed with his parents and later purchased the farm in Falun Township, Roseau County, Minn. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Faye McMillin on Jan. 29, 1947, in Gatzke, Minn. They lived in Falun until 1997, when they moved to Salol. He worked for Polaris Industries. They wintered in Florida and Texas.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Julan (Curtis) Kjaer, Roseau, and Debbie (Marvin) Kuklok, Cooperstown, N.D.; sons, Darwin (Doris), Naples, Fla., and Bill (Kathy), Roseau; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and a brother, Kenneth.
Services: 2 p.m. today, Pine Grove Lutheran Church, Roseau.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Malung Cemetery, Roseau.
Cyril R. Vanyo
WARREN, Minn. -- Cyril R. Vanyo, 76, Warren, Minn., died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at home.
Cyril Richard Vanyo was born May 20, 1922, the son of Joseph and Mary (Sabol) Vanyo, in Northland Township, Polk County, Minn. He was raised in Tabor, Minn., and graduated from high school in Alvarado, Minn. He was a drummer with the Country Gentlemen. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He returned to Tabor and later moved to Hutchinson, Minn., where he played the drums in several local bands. He worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Hutchinson. He retired in 1984 and returned to Warren.
He is survived by a sister, Bernadette Kotrba, Angus, Minn.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Tabor.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Norman Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Chester King
CLEARBROOK, Minn. -- Chester King, 72, Clearbrook, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, in the Good Samaritan Center, Clearbrook.
Chester King was born Dec. 4, 1925, the son of Ephriam and Myrtle king, in Clearbrook, where he attended school. He worked on the family farm. He worked in Washington and North Dakota working at elevators. He worked in construction, in Clearbrook. He moved to the Iron Range and Minneapolis, also working construction. He returned to Clearbrook, where he worked for the city doing maintenance work.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, in the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel, Bagley, Minn.
Visitation: Two hours before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clearbrook.
Dona J. Knutson
FISHER, Minn. -- Dona J. Knutson, 68, Fisher, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, in Altru Hospital Grand Forks.
Dona Rutherford was born June 24, 1930, the daughter of Robert and Lucy (Chalmers) Rutherford, in Grand Forks. She graduated from high school in Fisher in 1949. She worked for First National Bank in Crookston. She married Clayton Knutson on Jan. 23, 1953, in Crookston. They lived in Fisher. Clayton Knutson preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Rev. Dan) Erickson, Chisholm, Minn.; sons, Curtis (Kim) and Scott (Bonnie), both of Fisher, and Robert (Leslie), Steamboat Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Howard (Marlene), East Grand Forks.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Fisher Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 6: 30 p.m. prayer services, in Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks.
Burial: Fisher Lutheran Cemetery.
Theodore 'Ted' Judovsky
POLK COUNTY, Minn. -- Theodore "Ted" Judovsky, 63, Melrose, Calif., formerly of Polk County, died Thursday, June 4, 1998, in Melrose Area Hospital.
Theodore Judovsky was born Oct. 5, 1934, the son of Frank and Lillian (Dolezel) Judovsky, in Tabor Township, Polk County. He married Anne Wozniak on June 25, 1959, in Little Falls, Minn. They lived in Buena Park and Garden Grove, Calif., before moving to Melrose in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He worked for Kraft Foods of Melrose and Melrose School District.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Sandra (Michael) Ross, Havelock, N.C., Carol Van Scoik, Little Falls, Sharon (Gregory) Block, Royalton, Minn. and Nancy (Eric) Mattson, Warren, Minn.; sons, Timothy, Melrose, James, Sauk Rapids, Minn., Gregory, and Roswell, N.M., and Joseph (Lisa), Saint Joseph, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Frank, and David, both of Warren, and Arnold, Maple Grove, Minn.; and sisters, Lillian Nowacki, Stephen, Minn., Mary Streich, Garden Grove, Calif., and Lucille Bruce, Buena Park.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanore Knutson.
Services: Were held in Melrose.
Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Church cemetery.
Clement Gust
GREENBUSH, Minn. -- Clement Gust, 83, Greenbush, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, in Staples, Minn.
Clement Theodore Gust was born Oct. 25, 1914, the son of Joseph and Katie Gust, in Poplar Grove Township, Roseau County, Minn., where he attended school. He married Rose Raichl on Sept. 8, 1937, in Greenbush. They farmed in Barnett Township, Roseau County. She died April 25, 1973. He married Violet Beito in 1977, in Greenbush.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Larry (Priscilla), Badger, Minn.; a daughter, Kathryn (Bert) Overland, Spokane, Wash.; step children, Ernest (Doris) Beito, Louis (Alice) Beito, Donald (Karen) Beito, Caroline (Claire) Majer, Harold (Sandi) Beito, Kean (Lori) Beito, and Eugene (Cindy) Beito; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 23 step great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alex, Gatzke, Minn.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leo; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Greenbush.
Visitation: Noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Roseau, and 5 to 7: 30, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Laurence 'Larry' Jones
GARY, Minn. -- Laurence "Larry" Jones, 93, Princeton, Mo., formerly of Gary, died Friday June 5, 1998, at home.
Laurence Pfund Jones was born March 16, 1905, the son of David and Clara (Pfund) Jones, in Gary. He grew up in Minnesota. In 1934, he moved to Princeton, where he was a local merchant and artist. He was the manager of the Western Auto Store in Princeton. He owned and operated The Jones Department Store for several years.
He is survived by a niece and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by a sister Beatrice Berge.
Services: 11: 30 a.m. Wednesday, in Ada City Cemetery.
Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, in Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada.
Burial: Ada City Cemetery.
Doria Beregron
ARGYLE, Minn. -- Doria Bergeron, 96, Argyle, died Monday, June 8, 1998, in Good Samaritan Center, Warren, Minn.
Doria Herbert was born on Nov. 30, 1901, the daughter of John and Parmela (Giroux) Herbert, in Argyle. She attended country school. She married John Bergeron on Oct. 26, 1922, in Argyle. They lived in Middle River Township, Marshall County, Minn., until 1934, when they moved to Bloomer Township, Marshall County. In 1952 they moved to Argyle. John Bergeron died Feb. 4, 1987. She moved to the Good Samaritan Center.
She is survived by sons, Armand (Rita), Norco, Calif., and Kenneth (Eleanor) and Francis, both of Argyle; a daughter, Mary Lou Bergeron, Ada, Minn.; 26 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Jokerst; three grandchildren; sisters, Florida St. Germain, Georgianna Deschene and Sr. Hedwige Herbert; and a brother, Phillip.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Argyle.
Visitation: After 6 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services, all in the church.
Burial: St. Rose Cemetery, Argyle (Quanrud-DuBore, Warren).
Gerald Malakowsky
LOCKHART, Minn. -- Gerald Malakowsky, 76, Casa Grande, Ariz., formerly of Lockhart, died Thursday, June 4, 1998, in Casa Grande.
Gerald Malakowsky was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Lockhart. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Priscilla Malakowsky in Casa Grande, in air conditioning.
He is survived by daughters, Karen Scheer of Colorado, and Jayno Henderickson of Texas; sons, Edwin Oven of Wisconsin; four grandchildren; sisters, Bette Haring of Minnesota, and Kay Eidsmoe of California; and a brother, Richard of Arizona.
Services: Were held in Casa Grande (Simes, Casa Grande).
Leslie Ostlund
RED LAKE, Minn. -- Leslie Ostlund, 28, Red Lake, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, in a car accident in Red Lake.
Leslie Wayne Ostlund was born Sept. 26, 1969, the son of Vernon and Marcella (Holthusen) Ostlund, in Red Lake. He attended school in Goodridge, Minn. He worked several jobs, including logging and farming. He also worked as a farm laborer in Eden Valley, Minn. He was presently working for Red Lake DNR.
He is survived by his parents; sisters, Arnette Zeidlik, Dianne Fredrickson, both of Warroad, Minn., Sharon Wikstrom, Alexandria, and Lee Ann Ringling, Badger, Minn.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Bailey; a brother, Delwyn Torgerson; and his grandparents.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla, Minn.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 5 p.m. prayer service, in Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls.

Julius Kleinwachter
STRANDQUIST, Minn. -- Julius Kleinwachter, 83, Strandquist, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Julius Rosseler Kleinwachter was born March 8, 1915, the son of Emil and Marie (Rossler) Kleinwachter, in Strandquist. He attended school in the Strandquist area. He worked on the family farm. In 1934, he joined the Civilian Conservation, in Ely, Minn. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in January 1942 and served during World War II. He returned to the family farm. He married Antoinette Stancyk on June 21, 1949, in Alma, Minn. They lived and farmed in Nelson Park Township, Marshall County, Minn. In 1981, they sold the farm and returned to the Strandquist area.
He is survived by his wife; sons, The Rev. John, Akeley, Minn., Paul (Shirley), Big Lake, Minn., and Ben (LuJean), Strandquist; daughters, Patricia (Wayne) Larson, and Betty (Terry) Pietruszewski, both of Strandquist; 13 grandchildren; and a brother, Art, Strandquist.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Louie, Tony, Adolph, Emma, Anna, Sophie, Kathryn, and Frank.
Services: 2: 30 p.m. Thursday, in St. Edward's Catholic Church, Karlstad, Minn.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services, all in the church.
Burial: St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery, Lincoln Township, Marshall County, Minn. (Green, Thief River Falls).
Conrad Osmondson
ERSKINE, Minn.-- Conrad Osmondson, 85, Erskine, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at home.
Conrad Julius Osmondson was born Aug. 11, 1913, the son of Osmond and Marit (Bergum) Osmondson, in Garden Township, Polk County, Minn., where he attended school. He worked for area farmers. He worked in Fargo for Adams Transfer. He served in the U.S. Army from June 15, 1942 to Sept. 22, 1945. He married Olga Bakke on June 2, 1946, in Winger, Minn. They lived in Camp Douglas, Wis., They moved to Garden Township, where they farmed. He also worked for Arctic Cat, Thief River Falls, he did factory work in Milwaukee and carpentry work. He retired in 1971.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda Osmondson, Crookston; sons, Jerry (Carol) and Roger (Carol), both of Fertile, Minn., Ronald (Betty), Red Lake Falls, Minn., and Gregory, Erskine; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian Ness, Fertile; and a brother, Ludvig, Winger.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Gerda Nesby, Olga Quick, and Caroline Quick; and brothers, Arthur, Orville, and Walter.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, in Union Lake Free Lutheran Church, Fertile.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, in Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile.
Burial: Union Lake Free Church Cemetery, Fertile.
