Mildred Dalquist

WARREN, Minn. -- Mildred Dalquist, 75, Warren, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.

Mildred Lillian Carlson was born March 30, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Amanda (Olson) Carlson, in Stephen, Minn., where she graduated from high school. She graduated from North Star College, Warren, with a teaching certificate. She taught at the Dalquist School in Warrenton Township, Marshall County, Minn. She married Clarence Dalquist on June 12, 1940, in Stephen. They lived and farmed in Warren. Clarence Dalquist died May 18, 1959.

She is survived by sons, Richard (Linda), Fergus Falls, Minn., and Bill Jon (Mary), McGregor, Minn.; a daughter, Kathleen West, Garland Texas; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Ida Pankonin, Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday in Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home, Warren.

Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren.

Adelore Boutain

DOROTHY, Minn. -- Adelore Boutain, 94, Dorothy, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, in Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls.

Adelore Boutain was born Feb. 9, 1904, the son of Napoleon and Fedora (Rouseau) Boutain, in Canada. He attended school in Dorothy. He worked on the family farm until his retirement. He moved to St. Hilaire, Minn. He was a resident of Valley Home from 1992 to 1994. In March 1995, he moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home.

He is survived by sisters, Alphonsine Brantl, East Grand Forks, Delvina Srnsky, Osage, Minn., and Marie Zak, Hastings, Minn.; and a brother, Norman, Duluth.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Brantl; and brothers, Noah, Alex, and Henry.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, St. Dorothy Catholic Church.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a 5 p.m. prayer service, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: St. Dorothy Cemetery.

Menford Blilie

GRYGLA, Minn. -- Menford Blilie, 86, Grygla, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, in Ah Gwah Ching Home, Walker, Minn.

Menford Adolph Blilie was born Feb. 20, 1912, the son of Jens and Olena (Berg) Blilie, in Malcolm, Minn. He married Emma Henry on Jan. 1, 1945, in Grand Forks. They lived in Grand Forks until moving north of Grygla, where they lived until 1965. They moved east of Grygla and lived their until 1989. He worked several jobs including for Land O'Lakes Turkey Plant, helping the forest rangers put out peat fires and helping build the Grygla school. In 1989, he moved to Valley Home in Thief River Falls, and in January 1990, he moved to Ah Gwah Ching. Emma Blilie died Sept. 8, 1994.

He is survived by daughters, Mary (Eugene) Goulet and Ida Blilie, both of Thief River Falls; sons, Menford Jr., Bloomington, Minn., and Edward of Montana; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter, Maplewood, Minn.; and sisters, Lil Sansoucci and Ceclia Baldos, both of California.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clifford; and brothers, John, Clifford, Ellsworth and George.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla.

Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: St. Olaf Cemetery, Grygla.

Ida Mishler

MENTOR, Minn. -- Ida Mishler, 79, Mentor, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Ida Campbell was born Sept. 14, 1918, the daughter of Marion and Mary (Olson) Campbell, in Spooner, Wis., where she graduated from high school. She married Max Mishler on Aug. 28, 1938, in Pine City, Minn. They lived in Two Harbors, Minn., before moving to East Grand Forks. They moved to Maple Lake, Minn., in 1969.

She is survived by a son, Steven (Theresa), Dallas; three grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Campbell, Fern Martins, and Ethyl Davis, all of Spooner; and a brother, Bud, Portland, Ore.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth, Lucille, and Opal; and a brother, Robert.

Services: 7 p.m. Monday, Stennes Funeral Chapel, East Grand Forks.

Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today in the chapel.

Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks.

Hilda Salvhus

ERSKINE, Minn. -- Hilda Salvhus, 89, Erskine, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, in First Care Hospital, Fosston, Minn.

Hilda Crystal Dahl was born Jan. 3, 1998, the daughter of Rendick and Helen Dahl, in Gully, Minn., where she attended school. She worked on the family farm and several jobs for the people of Gully. In 1932, she worked for Osmund Salvhus, and they married on Sept. 15, 1934, in Gully. In 1943, they purchased a farm in Clearwater County. They moved to Erskine in 1985. She entered Pioneer Memorial Care Center in 1991.

She is survived by a daughter, Mavis Schledewitz, Sidney, Mont.; sons, Willie (Helene), Bagley, Minn., Kenneth, Libby, Mont., Jerry, Leesville, La., Duane (Nancy), Chester, Mass., Elroy and Orlen (Dorothy), both of East Grand Forks, Norman, Cloquet, Minn., and Clayton, McIntosh, Minn.; 30 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernice Riley; a sister; and two brothers.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, McIntosh.

Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. today, Pioneer Memorial Care Center.

Burial: Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery (Carlin-Hoialmen, McIntosh and Erskine).

Russell 'Russ' Bjornerud

FOSSTON, Minn. -- Russell "Russ" Bjornerud, 71, Fosston, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, in First Care Nursing Home, Fosston.

Russell Dennis Bjornerud was born Sept. 20, 1926, the son of Albert St. and Gena (Haltli) Bjornerud, in Fosston, where he graduated from high school in 1944. He joined the U.S. Army in March 1945. He was discharged in October 1946. He attended Bemidji State University from 1947 to 1948. He married Betty Bakken on Jan. 1, 1949, in Fosston. He and his father owned the Fosston Cleaners from 1949 to 1970. In 1964, he became a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Fosston. He retired in 1986. He drove school bus for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Rick (Sandy), Fosston; daughters, Renae (Ed) Schultz, Winger, Minn., and Jayne Darby, Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and brothers, Albert Jr., and Roy (Lillian), both of Fosston, and Jim (Gloria), Menomonie, Wis.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Rossell; and an infant sister.

Services: 3 p.m. Friday, Hope Lutheran Church, Fosston.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 4: 30 p.m. prayer service, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Hope Lutheran Cemetery.

Military Rites: Tangen-Walstrom American Legion Post #114, Fosston.

Lawrence Anderson

St. HILAIRE, Minn. -- Lawrence Anderson, 86, St. Hilaire, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in the Convalescent Nursing Care Unit of Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, where he had been residing since June 1, 1997.

Lawrence Anderson was born May 29, 1912, the son of Andrew and Sophie (Swenson) Anderson, in Pennington County, Minn. He attended school in St. Hilaire. He lived on the home farm and worked as a laborer. He worked for several farmers locally and in southern Minnesota. He also worked for Pennington County Highway Department and Arctic Enterprises. He moved to Valley Home, Thief River Falls, on Oct. 31, 1994. He is survived by several cousins.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, Green Funeral Home Chapel, Thief River Falls.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in the chapel.

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Rocksbury Township, Pennington County.

Everett Landin

WARROAD, Minn. -- Everett Landin, 77, Warroad, died Monday, July 27, 1998, at home.

Everett Oscar Landin was born April 10, 1921, the son of Andrew and Emma Caroline (Haglund) Landin, in Moranville Township, Roseau County, Minn. He attended school in Swift, Minn., and graduated from high school in Warroad. He attended Bemidji State College. He married Doris Jane Shuckhart on Feb. 14, 1942, in Warroad. He farmed with his father. In 1945, they moved and farmed in Swift. In 1967, he starting farming with his son, Vernon. He retired in 1986. He worked as a substitute rural mail carrier.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Vernon (Karla), Warroad; a daughter, Cynthia (Gerald) Krahn, Warroad; seven grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Hegstad, Warroad.

He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Zion Lutheran Church, Warroad.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. today, with an 8: 45 p.m. prayer service, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Warroad.

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Warroad.

James Zblewski

WARREN, Minn. -- James Zblewski, 56, Olympia, Wash., formerly of Warren, died Aug. 14, 1998, in Capital Medical Center, Olympia, of brain cancer.

James William Zblewski was born July 14, 1942, the son of Hamilton "Bud" and Stella (McGlynn) Zblewski, in Warren. He attended school in Radium, Minn., Warren, and Northwest School of Agriculture, Crookston. He married Lona Lee Selness on Feb. 1, 1964, in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis and Gardena, Calif., where he was a machinist. In 1965, they moved to Newqually Valley, where he started a construction company. Lona Lee Zblewski died in 1994.

He is survived by a son, Michael (Donita), Olympia; a daughter, Kimberly (Chris) Schatz, Olympia; five grandchildren; his mother, Stella Novak, Warren.; brothers, Gerald (Michele), Thief River Falls, and Timothy, Warren; and a sister, Suzanne (Glenn) Edstrom, Lacey, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services: Were held in Lacey.

Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Lacey (Woodlawn, Lacey).

Olga C. Erickson

KARLSTAD, Minn. -- Olga C. Erickson, 83, Karlstad, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, in the Fridley (Minn.) Convalescent Home.

Olga Clara Wolff was born June 16, 1915, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Weinrebe) Wolff, in North Dakota. She attended school in Pelan, Minn. She married Fred Erickson on June 1, 1939, in Pelan. They made their home in Grygla and Goodrich, Minn. In 1952, they moved to Chisholm, Minn., and in 1962, they moved to Minneapolis. In 1982, they moved to Cohasset, Minn. Fred Erickson died Dec. 6, 1987. She later moved to Anoka, Minn., and for the past four years, she had lived in Fridley.

She is survived by sons, Marvin, Chisholm; and Reuben, Andover, Minn.; daughters, Waviel (Gayle) Ulrich, Ham Lake, Minn., and Debie (Ken) D'Ambrogio, Merrifield, Minn.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert, Santa Maria, Calif., Bill (Orpha), Karlstad, and Eddy (Betty), Strathcona, Minn.; and sisters, Clara (Lloyd) Hermanson, Karlstad, Bertha Wolff, Bakersfield, Calif., and Alice (Dick) Hobson, of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two granddaughters; and a brother, Herbert.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Collins Funeral Chapel, Karlstad.

Visitation: After 5 p.m. today, and one hour before services in the chapel.

Burial: Karlstad Cemetery.

Bennie H. Habben

ADA, Minn. -- Bennie H. Habben, 74, Ada, Minn., died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, in Bridges Medical Services Hospital, Ada.
Bennie H. Habben was born Dec. 6, 1923, the son of George and Anna "Meyer" Habben, in Ada, where he attended school. He worked in several areas, including farming with his parents and brother, electric power line construction, and working for farmers in the Ada area.

He is survived by a brother, Leslie (Janet), Blaine, Minn., and sisters, Anna Bennefeld and Ella Lee, both of Ada, Lillian Aanenson, Halstad, Minn., Goldie Smith, Felton, Minn., and Doris (Ray) Syrstad, Grand Forks.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Pete, and George.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Zion Lutheran Church, Ada.

Visitation: One hour before services in the church.

Burial: Ada City Cemetery (Fredrikson, Ada).
