Arnold F. Lundin

STEPHEN, Minn. -- Arnold F. Lundin, 94, formerly of Stephen, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.

Arnold F. Lundin was born Aug. 4, 1904, the son of August and Anna (Wikstrom) Lundin, in Sinnott Township, Marshall County, Minn., where he attended school. He married Bernice Nelson on Sept. 18, 1931, in Middle River, Minn. They lived in Sinnott Township, where they farmed until 1973, when they retired and moved to Spicer, Minn. In 1990, they moved to Hallock, Minn. Bernice Lundin died Jan. 19, 1993. In 1995, he moved to Thief River Falls.

He is survived by a daughter, Jean Sorenson, Thief River Falls; a son, Richard (Karen), Vining, Minn.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes Gaston, Long Beach, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a grandson; sisters, Kelly, Sue, Ruby, Margaret and Hilda; and brothers, Clarence, John, Art and Emil.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, First Lutheran Church, Stephen.

Visitation: Two hours before services in the church.

Burial: St. Petri Cemetery, Stephen (Adamson-Austin, Stephen).

Greg Sandeen

BROOKS, Minn. -- Greg Sandeen, 37, Brooks, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at home.

Gregory Sandeen was born May 6, 1961, the son of Milo and Eleanor (Brinkman) Sandeen, in Fosston, Minn. He grew up in Oklee, Minn., where he graduated from high school in 1979. He married Rachael Mandt on July 31, 1993, in Oklee. They lived in Brooks, where he was a self-employed carpenter.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Brianna, at home; his father, Milo (Betty), Brooks; his mother, Eleanor (Dick) Balko, Red Wood Falls, Minn.; a brother, Darrel, Oklee; and a sister, Angie Sandeen.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother; and his grandparents.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday in Oak Park Lutheran Church North, Oklee.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service in Petterson Funeral Home, Oklee, and one hour before services in the church.

Pearl E. Olson

PITT, Minn., -- Pearl E. Olson, 78, Pitt, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in Lakewood Care Center, Baudette, Minn., where she had lived since December 1993.

Pearl Elvina Simonson was born April 7, 1920, the daughter of Joe and Clara (Anderson) Simonson, in Hartland, Minn., where she attended school. She moved to the Baudette area in 1936. She married Albert Olson on April 7, 1941, in Baudette. They farmed near Graceton, Minn., before moving to his family homestead in Pitt, in 1946. In 1956-58, they moved to the Iron Range near Aurora, Minn. Albert Olson died in 1979.

She is survived by her children, Philip (Joyce), Pitt, Ardella (Dale) Leslie, Cottage Grove, Minn., Ardyce (Joaquin) Escandon, Blaine, Minn., Virgil (Dorothy), International Falls, Minn., and Wanda (Wayne) Parker, Palmer, Alaska; 16 grandchildren; brothers, Leo, Clarks Grove, Minn., and Jay, Yuma, Ariz.; and sisters, Amelia Bakke, Albert Lea, Minn., and Marjorie McGuire, New Richland, Minn.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice; brothers, Irvin, Richard, Oliver and Arthur; and a sister, Stella.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday in First Lutheran Church, Baudette.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. prayer service in Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Baudette.

Burial: Pitt Cemetery.

Norman A. Nelson

FERTILE, Minn. -- Norman A. Nelson, 93, Fertile, formerly of Ada, Minn., died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile, where he had lived since May 5, 1997.

Norman Nelson was born April 7, 1905, the son of John and Petrina (Gilbertson) Nelson, in Spring Creek Township, Norman County, Minn. He grew up and attended school in Ada. He farmed in the Ada area. He married Oma Eeg on June 5, 1934, in Gary, Minn. He worked as the Norman County Social Service director from 1935 to 1970, when he retired. He moved to the John Wimmer Nursing Home, Ada, where he lived until the flood in April 1997.

He is survived by a son, John (Gloria) Nelson, Ada; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Malvin, Peter, Alfred, Palmer and Clarence; and a sister, Aletta Thompson.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Grace Lutheran Church, Ada.

Burial: Ada City Cemetery (Fredrikson, Ada).

Archie A. Linert

BADGER, Minn. -- Archie A. Linert, 89, Badger, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Greenbush (Minn.) Nursing Home.

Archie Arthur Linert was born Nov. 30, 1909, the son of James and Anna (Dloughy) Linert, in Pine City, Minn. He moved to Badger as a young boy and attended school. He worked as a farm laborer and wood harvester. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Hattie Alma Carrie Gross on Sept. 18, 1946, in Roseau. He farmed near Badger until moving into Badger, where he worked at the Seed House and Elevator. He later worked as a carpenter until his retirement. Hattie Linert died in 1972.

He is survived by sons, Archie Jr. (Barb), Eagan, Minn., and Arthur (Shelly), Badger; a daughter, Nila (Ron) Hetteen, Blaine, Minn.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Laura Nelson, Strathcona, Minn.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, James, Bill and George; and sisters, Mary Solom and Doris Olmstead.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Badger Creek Lutheran Church, Badger.

Visitation: After 5 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Gieseke Funeral Chapel, Greenbush, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Barnett National Cemetery, Barnett Township, Roseau County, Minn.

Military Rites: Badger VFW Post No. 3832.

John Rominski

FLORIAN, Minn. -- John Rominski, 69, Florian, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in North Valley Health Center, Warren, Minn.

John Andrew Rominski was born Aug. 19, 1929, the son of Andrew and Kathryn (Gratzek) Rominski, in Wright Township, Marshall County, Minn. He attended graduated from high school in Stephen, Minn. He attended St. Thomas College in St. Paul. He returned to Florian and worked for the state of Minnesota as an agricultural field inspector for potatoes. He married Caroline Tabaka on May 28, 1960, in Minneapolis. They lived in Florian.

He is survived by his wife, Thief River Falls; sons, Jack (Lori), Thief River Falls, Jerry, Jamie and Joe, all of Warren, and Jason, Florian; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas (Ethlyn), Pelican Rapids, Minn.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Marie; and sisters, Joanne and Maryann.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Assumption Catholic Church, Florian.

Visitation: After 6 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Assumption Catholic Cemetery (Quanrud-DuBore, Warren).

Manfred Folstad

SHELLY, Minn. -- Manfred Folstad, 96, Shelly, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in Lutheran Memorial Home, Halstad, Minn.

Manfred Folstad was born July 29, 1902, the son of Kristoffer and Margrethe (Jorstad) Folstad, in Traill County, N.D. He married Tillie Dybing on July 2, 1929, in Shelly. They lived in Shelly before moving to Hendrum, Minn. He operated the Shelly Meat Market with his father-in-law. He was postmaster in Shelly from 1955 to 1972.

He is survived by his wife; children, Ione (Stuart) Johnson, Moose Lake, Minn., Nancy (Howard) Nelson and Helen (Charles) Bernhardson, both of Shelly, and Elroy (Collette), Fargo; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Julius; and sisters, Annie and Constance.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Shelly-Marsh River Lutheran Church.

Visitation: 1: 30 to 2: 30 p.m. today, with a 2: 30 p.m. prayer service, Lutheran Memorial Home, Halstad, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Shelly Lutheran Cemetery (Stennes, East Grand Forks).

Florence M. Perry

ROSEAU, Minn. -- Florence M. Perry, 89, Roseau, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Karlstad, Minn.

Florence Myrtle Johnston was born Aug. 11, 1909, the daughter of Daniel and Myrtle Johnston, in Drayton, N.D., where she attended school. She moved and lived in several communities. She married Clarence Perry on June 20, 1928, in Roseau. They lived in Salol, Minn., where they had a grain and dairy farm.

She is survived by daughters, Elaine (Chris) Frutiger, Baudette, Minn., and Irene (Roman) Gudmundson, Lake Bronson, Minn.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Loreen Thompson, Williams, Minn., and Eileen Grahn, Roseau.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and an infant son.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Roseau.

Visitation: One hour before services in the chapel.

Burial: Falun Cemetery, Roseau.

Carl Flaten

MIDDLE RIVER, Minn. -- Carl Flaten, 73, Middle River, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, in Veterans Hospital, Fargo.

Carl A. Flaten was born Dec. 9, 1924, the son of Richard and Olga (Kallhusen) Flaten, in Pelan, Minn. He attended school in Roseau, Minn. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Lorraine Schaffer in 1949. He worked for Soo Line Railroad and in maintenance for Lavender Inn and Carlton College, Fairbuilt, Minn. He owned and operated a pool hall in Mahnomen, Minn. He has resided in Middle River for the past two years.

He is survived by his children, Betty (Dennis) Erickson, Warroad, Minn., Robert, Oklee, Minn., Barb (Gary) Anderson, Thief River Falls, Roger (Marlene), Crookston, and Carl, Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren; a sister, Clara Johnson, Thief River Falls; and a half sister, Emma Flaten, Bloomington, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Richard Allan; a daughter, Beverly Jane; sisters, Cora Spilde, Gladys Perreault and Mary Peterson; a brother, Melvin; and a half sister, Olga Nygaard.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Green Funeral Home Chapel, Thief River Falls.

Visitation: Two hours before services in the church.

Burial: River Falls Township, Pennington County, Minn.

Kristin Amanda Gross

GENTILLY, Minn. -- Kristin Amanda Gross, four-month-old daughter of Terrance and Ann Gross, Gentilly, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.

Kristin Amanda Gross was born June 30, 1998, the daughter of Terrance and Ann (Woinarowicz) Gross, in Grand Forks.

She is survived by her parents, sisters, Shannon Lee and Stephanie Ann; her grandparents, Leonard and Adeline Woinarowicz, Euclid, Minn., and Grace Gross, Rugby, N.D.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jack Gross.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Peter's Catholic Church, Gentilly.

Visitation: One hour before services in the church.

Burial: St. Peter's Cemetery (Stenshoel-Houske, Crookston).

Thomina I. Wilmo

BERNER, Minn. -- Thomina I. Wilmo, 92, Berner, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Good Samaritan Center, Clearbrook, Minn.

Thomina Ida Hofstad was born March 9, 1906, the daughter of Gunder and Bertina (Legvold) Hofstad, in Trail, Minn., where she attended school. She married Elmer Wilmo on April 11, 1925, in Bagley. They lived in Berner. He died in December 1950. She lived in Conrad, Mont., from 1957 to 1959. She moved to Minneapolis in 1961 and then back to Berner in 1976.

She is survived by a son, Wesley (Sylvia), Aitkin, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice (Robert) Dulac, Bloomington, Minn.; and a brother, Oliver, Thief River Falls.

She was preceded in death by a son, Warren.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, United Lutheran Church, Berner.

Visitation: One hour before services in the church.

Burial: United Lutheran Cemetery (Cease, Bagley, Minn.).
