MENTOR, Minn. -- Arlene M. Devig, 72, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Mentor, died Jan. 1, 1999, in Mesa.

Arlene M. VanCamp was born May 12, 1926, the daughter of Raymond and Altha VanCamp, in St. Thomas, N.D. She worked as a registered nurse. She married Marvin Devig.

He survives along with a son, Dr. Patrick (Mary Ann), Grand Forks; four grandchildren; and a brother, James (Louise), Prescott, Ariz., and Mentor.

Services: Were held in Mesa. Memorials are suggested to LHS Hospice, 1325 N. Fiesta, Gilbert, Ariz. 85233 (Chapel of Prayer, Mesa).

Dorothy C. Wagner

FISHER, Minn. -- Dorothy C. Wagner, 69, Fisher, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, in Springdale Village, Mesa, Ariz.

Dorothy Hanson was born Feb. 12, 1929, the daughter of George and Mabel (Strande) Hanson, in Fisher. She graduated from high school in Crookston in 1946. She worked for Crookston National Bank. She married Mervin "Sock" Wagner on June 5, 1949, in Crookston. They lived and farmed in Fisher. She worked as a secretary for Fisher High School until retiring in 1980. They spent winters in Mesa since 1987.

She is survived by her husband; brothers, Gilman (Maxine), Orland (Vivian), Howard (Evelyn) and George (Nancy), all of Crookston.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Fisher.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Chapel, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Fisher.

Donna Peterson

Donna Peterson, 46, Fergus Falls, Minn., formerly of Grand Forks, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in Lake Region Hospital.

Donna Jonozzo was born April 1, 1952, the daughter of Robert and Josephine (Borello) Jonozzo, in Cleveland. She graduated from high school in Bedford, Ohio. She attended X-ray technical training in Cleveland. She worked in a hospital in Cleveland, later moving to Groton, Conn. She married Barry Peterson on Dec. 27, 1975, in Groton. They moved to Grand Forks, where she attended UND. In May 1980, they moved to Fergus Falls.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Kirsten (John) Shockley, Grand Forks; sons, Andrew and Eric, both of Fergus Falls; her parents; sisters, Laura Jonozzo, Toronto, Ont., Michele (Milan) Miladinovic and Jeanette (Anthony) Marinello.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Our Lady of Victory Church, Fergus Falls.

Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: St. Ottos Cemetery, Fergus Falls.

Jean G. Hughes

FERTILE, Minn. -- Jean G. Hughes, 74, Fertile, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile.

Jean G. Nicholson was born June 20, 1924, the daughter of Lloyd "Midnight" and Emma (Ramberg) Nicholson, in Mentor, Minn., where she graduated from high school in 1941. She moved to Oceanside, Calif., in the early 1940s, and worked for Pacific Bell Phone Co. She married Orville Ivan Lewis in 1944. She returned to Crookston in 1956 and worked as an operator for the phone company. She married Wesley Hughes in 1957. They lived in several parts of the country. She moved to Mentor. She entered Meadow Nursing Home in 1996.

She is survived by a son, Randall "Rand" (Vickie), Crookston; three grandsons; and a sister, Harriet Torrance, Mentor.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Allison Hughes; and a sister, Dorothy Boyum.

Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Chapel, Crookston.

Goldie Moran

ERSKINE, Minn. -- Goldie Moran, 89, Erskine, formerly of Mentor, Minn., died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in First Care Hospital, Fosston.

Goldie Cecile Camp was born March 26, 1909, the daughter of Otto and Clara (Larson) Camp, in Dugdale of Tilden Township, Polk County, Minn., where she attended school. She worked on her sister's farm near Mentor and her father's cafe in St. Hilaire, Minn. She married Raymond Moran on April 15, 1931, in Red Lake Falls. They lived in Tilden Township and Erskine before moving to a farm near Mentor in 1933. Raymond Moran died in 1977. She moved into Mentor. In 1989, she entered Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine.

She is survived by daughters, Marion Beauchene, Fargo, and Donna (Erwin) Sauve, Burnsville, Minn.; sons, Dale and Gary (Josine), both of Mentor; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Adeline Mieke, Fargo, and Grace Trandem, Mentor.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons; sisters, Cora Sebenaler, Emma Camp and Ida Olson; and brothers, Arthur, Henry, Otto and Walker.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mentor.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Erskine, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.

Sarah J. Grover

BAGLEY, Minn. -- Sarah J. Grover, 90, Bagley, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Greensview Health Care Center, Bagley.

Sarah Josephine Larson was born June 29, 1908, the daughter of Rudolph and Sena (Swenson) Larson, in Popple Township, Clearwater County, Minn. She graduated from high school in Bagley in 1928. She attended normal training in 1929. She taught in rural schools. She married Fred Grover on Jan. 1, 1936. They farmed until 1956, when they moved to Bagley. She worked at several jobs in Bagley. She was a clerk for Lewie's Taggery, Lillegaards Clothing, Dry Cleaners and at the Historical Society.

She is survived by sons, Sidney (Donna), Tacoma, Wash., and John (Cheryl), Bagley; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rena Fay; a sister, Pearl; and brothers, Spencer and Prescott.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Faith Lutheran Church, Bagley.

Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, with a 1 p.m. prayer service, Cease Funeral Home, Bagley, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Bagley City Cemetery.

Myrtle Wilson

STEPHEN, Minn. -- Myrtle Wilson, 88, Stephen, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Myrtle M. Austreng was born April 21, 1910, the daughter of Louis and Ragna (Lebacken) Austreng, in Reynolds, N.D., where she attended school. She moved with her parents to Pembina, N.D. She married Oscar Wilson on Oct. 27, 1931, in Reynolds. They lived in Pembina until moving to Stephen in 1952. Oscar Wilson died in 1982. She continued to live in Stephen until moving to Grand Forks in 1994.

She is survived by daughters, Margaret (Roy) Klein, Grand Forks, and Dorothy (Perry) Setterholm, Nisswa, Minn.; a son, Carl (Rose), Kensington, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Knutson, Grand Forks.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles; three brothers; and two sisters.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, First Lutheran Church, Stephen.

Visitation: Two hours before services in the church.

Burial: Stephen City Cemetery (Adamson-Austin, Stephen).

Juanita 'Nita' Schlee

BECIDA, Minn. -- Juanita "Nita" Schlee, 75, Becida, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at home.

Juanita C. White was born Nov. 4, 1923, the daughter of Roy and Mabel (Peterson) White, in Carlton, Minn. She attended school in Guthrie, Minn. She married William Weber in 1940, in Bemidji. They lived in Guthrie. She worked as a cook in several restaurants in Bemidji. They moved to Bemidji in 1954. William Weber died in 1967. She married Richard Schlee on Dec. 7, 1957, in Shevlin, Minn. They moved to Becida, where they purchased the Becida Store and Post Office, in 1976 they added the bar, which they operated until retiring in 1983. Richard Schlee died June 6, 1977.

She is survived by sons, Jack (Tammy) Weber, Centuria, Wis., Tony (JoAnn) Weber, Sun Fish Lake, Minn., and Ricky Schlee, Becida; daughters, Connie (Ronnie) Schlee, Becida, and Lucille (Eddie) Knudson and Rita (Paul) Malterud, both of Bemidji; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene (Lawrence) Dudley and Lois Jackson, both of Lake George, Minn.; a brother, Carlyle (Olga), Guthrie; and a sister-in-law, Myra Knaffla, Guthrie.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Harland and Devere; and sisters, Floris Matteen and Betty Brenhoffer.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Calvary Lutheran Church, Bemidji.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Fern Township Cemetery, Hubbard County, Minn.

Charley Lee

FOSSTON, Minn. -- Charley Lee, 89, Fosston, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at home.

Charley Benjamin Lee was born Oct. 1, 1909, the son of John and Ragnhild (Olson) Lee, in Fosston, where he attended rural school. He worked on a farm in Montana for a year. He owned a trucking business and hauled gravel, cord wood and grain in the Fosston area. He married Hazel Nyhus in November 1938, in Crookston. They lived and farmed near Fosston. He also ran road grader for Brandsvold Township. Hazel Lee died in 1971. He moved into Fosston in the fall of 1996.

He is survived by a son, Gerald (Janet), Fosston; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Lang, Fosston.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Lee; brothers, Ole and Halvor; and sisters, Anna Nelson, Sophie Ulmer, Hilda Orr, Alma Thomas, Thea Nordlund and infant Anna.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Kingo Lutheran Church, Fosston.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Kingo Lutheran Cemetery.

Blanche Berglund

WARREN, Minn. -- Blanche Berglund, 88, Warren, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, in Good Samaritan Center, Warren.

Blanche Millicent Westman was born April 16, 1910, the daughter of Ole and Hilma (Skoglund) Westman, in Foldahl Township, Marshall County, Minn. She graduated from high school and completed teacher's training. She taught school for two years. She married Arthur Berglund on June 7, 1944. They lived in Warren. She worked at the Marshall County Auditors office for more than 30 years. Arthur Berglund died Nov. 25, 1993.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Alice Westman and Evelyn Andeen.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Evangelical Covenant Church, Warren.

Visitation: One hour before services in the church.

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren.

Richard L. Simmons

ROSEAU, Minn. -- Richard L. Simmons, 70, Roseau, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Richard Linton Simmons was born July 25, 1928, the son of Ray and Bessie (Monson) Simmons, in Linsell Township, Marshall County, Minn., where he attended school. He farmed with his parents. He joined the U.S. Army in 1950. He married Joan Gullikson on March 11, 1953, in Iowa. They lived in St. Paul and later moved to Princeton, Minn. In January 1962 he began working as state game warden in Princeton, and later in St. Paul as warden services first information officer. He served as field officer in Princeton before moving to Roseau in 1973, where he was the state conservation officer for western Roseau County and northern Marshall County. He retired in 1983. He worked part-time as a police officer for the city of Roseau.

He is survived by his wife; children, Roberta (Kerby) Eidsmoe, Salol, Minn., Keith, Anchorage, Alaska, Patrick and Anthony, both of Minneapolis, Elizabeth (Brian) Daniels, Faribault, and Timothy (Maria), Madrid, Spain; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Viola) and Russell (Millie), both of Roseau, and Roger (Edla), Bloomington, Minn.; and sisters, Betty (Robert) Larson, Grand Rapids, Minn., and Gloria (Bud) Swanson, Warroad, Minn.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Moe Lutheran Church, Roseau.

Visitation: Noon to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Roseau, and one hour before services in the church.

Morris Anderson

HUMBOLDT, Minn. -- Morris Anderson, 67, Butte, Mont., formerly of Humboldt, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.

Morris Ingvald Anderson was born Feb. 13, 1931, the son of Ingvald and Elizabeth Anderson, in Humbolt. He attended school in Halma, Minn. In 1948 he joined the U.S. Air Force. He worked on several farms in northwest Minnesota. He married Karen Cleem on April 7, 1956, in Hallock, Minn. They moved to Butte. He worked as a journeyman electrician and a truck driver before his retirement in 1984.

He is survived by his wife; children, Wade, Joe (Candi), Joyce (Dave) Unterscher, Cindy (Dave) Rossiter, and Lori (Skip) Maurer, all of Butte, Robert (Joan), Tulsa, Okla., and Lisa (Lonnie) Locke and Julie Dunaway, both of Mesquite, Texas; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Elizabeth Vanous, Thief River Falls; a brother, John (Rhonda), Mason City, Iowa; and sisters, Myrtle Finney, Cedar, Minn., and JoAnn Hammer, Lake Bronson, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Duane and Donald; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Anderson.

Services: 2 p.m. today, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and 2 p.m. Monday, Duggan-Dolan Funeral Home, Butte.

Visitation: One hour before services in both funeral homes.
