Florence M. Zachman

Services for Florence M. Zachman, 78, of St. Michael were Saturday, May 12, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Rev. Leonard Siebenaler was the celebrant and interment was in the St. Michael Cemetery.

Rose Zachman, Jennifer Zachman and Eric Zachman served as Mass Servers. Joseph Zachman, Yvonne Zachman, Lisa Zachman, Darnell Anthony, Dina Zachman, Dustin Zachman, Rachael Anderson, Jason Mattox, Matthew Zachman, Kelsey Zachman, Michelle Zachman, Amy Zachman, Adam Zachman, Jeffrey Zachman, Katherine Zachman and Valerie Zachman served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Zachman died early Thursday, May 10, at her residence.

She was born in Buffalo Township Jan. 4, 1923, the daughter of Thomas I. and Bertha Mary Otten Rancour.

On June 14, 1945, Florence M. Rancour and John M. Zachman were joined in holy marriage at St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with nine children.

Mrs. Zachman was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

She is survived by husband, John M. Zachman; children, Harvey (Cheryl) Zachman of Le Sueur, Alvin (Shirley) Zachman of Plymouth, Anita (Jerry) Mattox of Coon Rapids, Kenneth (Mary) Zachman of Litchfield, David (Renae) Zachman of Clearwater, John (Charleen) Zachman of Albertville, Zachary (Debra) Zachman of Delano, Marvin (Alise) Zachman of St. Michael; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Louis (Arlene) Rancour of Montrose, William (Kitty) Rancour of Austin, Texas, Lorraine (Clarence) Buehl of Buffalo and Esther (Richard) Arne of Delano; many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Zachman was preceded in death by a son, Mark John Zachman, in 1986; by her parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Herbert and Raymond Rancour; and by a sister, Marie Riggs.

Claire M. Barnard

Services for Claire M. Barnard, 62, Plymouth were Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Reverend Del V. Spitzer officiated and interment followed at the Lakeview Cemetery.

Friends called at the funeral home Tuesday, May 8.

Marlene Mohwinkel was the organist for the funeral service. Joanne Zander was the soloist and she sang "Amazing Grace - How Sweet the Sound."

James Bressler, Michael Bressler, Matthew Bressler, Thomas LaPointe, Fred Pawelk and Jonathan Rygiel served as the casket bearers.

Mr. Barnard died May 4, 2001, after suffering a massive heart attack at the Spring Lake Golf Course the day before. He was born June 11, 1938, in Mahaska County, Iowa, the youngest son of Lyle and Avis Ritchie Barnard. He attended school at Cedar, Iowa.

On Sept. 2, 1956, he married Margaret Winner, his lover, friend and companion for the rest of his life.

Mr. Barnard spent his entire professional life in the transportation business, primarily in sales with the Milwaukee Railroad and other transportation companies. He started out in the mailroom with CB&Q Railroad, then served as a ticket agent for a short time at Burlington Northern Railroad before working his way up into sales and administration with the Milwaukee.

Every promotion meant a move, so Claire and his family lived in Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, Iowa, Beecher and Streamwood, Ill., Indianapolis and Sellersburg, Ind., and Spokane, Wash., before returning to the Minneapolis area in 1979.

Mr. Barnard was a caring and loving husband and father with a terrific sense of humor. He was happiest when surrounded by family, sharing good food, drink and stories. He could make just about anyone feel at home and comfortable; he was a merciless tease.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret, of Plymouth; five daughters: Kathy and husband Tom LaPointe of Moscow, Idaho, Kris and husband Jim Bressler of Maple Lake, Karen Ness of Bloomington, Kim and husband Fred Pawelk of Buffalo, and Kelly Barnard and fiancé Jon Rygiel; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Ray Barnard of Longmont, Colo.; and two sisters, Kay Pliss and Marceline Tennis, also of Longmont.

His parents, two brothers, Gordon and Durant, and his son-in law Greg Walls preceded him in death.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.

Steven Beck

Services for Steven R. Beck, 41, of Buffalo were Monday, May 7, 2001, at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

The Reverend Ruth Ann Ramstad officiated and interment followed at the Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.

Friends called at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo Sunday, May 6.

Laurie Schroeder was the organist for the funeral service. Kelli Strub was the soloist and she sang "On Eagles Wings" and "The Lord's Prayer." "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung as congregational hymns.

Michael Marsh, Christine Wagner, Scottie Marsh, Jessica Jetland and Andrew Gohl served as honorary casket bearers.

Eric Blackwell, Bob Jetland, Rick Cantin, Russell Cantin, Ken Woodis and Myron Russell served as the casket bearers.

Mr. Beck died Thursday, May 3. He was born in Springfield, Minn., on Sept. 11, 1959, the son of LaVern and Lorraine Hill Beck.

On Dec. 26, 1981, Steven Beck and Lesley Ann Larson were joined in holy marriage at the Brunswick United Methodist Church in Crystal. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.

Mr. Beck was presently employed at Metro Mowing. He had previously worked as a security officer for 12 years and had also owned and operated Beck's Lawn Care for six years.

Through the years, he formerly served in the Army Reserves, coached his daughter's soccer team, and supported the Herd Marching Band.

He attended the United Methodist Church in Buffalo and often played trumpet at Mass at the Church of St. Francis

Steven was always willing to help any one if there was a need.

Mr. Beck is survived by wife, Lesley Beck; daughters, Nikki, 17, and Ashley, 12; step brothers, Brian Heiskary, Bradley Heiskary and Blaine (Cheryl) Heiskary all of Rockford; step Sisters, Sandie Heiskary of Rockford, Nancy Lestage and Candace Hagen, both of Connecticut; Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Florence and Irving Larson of Brooklyn Park; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Cheri Larson and Karen (Eric) Blackwell; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents LaVern and Lorraine Beck; step mother Margaret Ann Beck and by his grandmother Florence Hill.

Ray Mollen

Services for Ray A. Mollen, 76, of Rogers were Friday, May 4, 2001, at St. Martin Catholic Church of Rogers.

Mr. Mollen is survived by wife, Shirley; son, Fred (Maria); daughters, Donna Scott and Ann Doig (Ron); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Leo (Betty) Mollen; sister, Clara (Ted) Weitz; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by daughter, Janet. Mr. Mollen is a veteran of WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Alice Weese

Services for Alice H. Weese 83, of Osseo were Thursday, April 26, 2001, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Osseo.

Pastor Gregory C. Tyler officiated and interment followed at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Clinton Pino, Timothy Pino, Chasady Cochran, Dan Klinger, David Klinger, and Ross Herman served as the casket bearers.

Mrs. Weese died Monday, April 23, at the Delano Healthcare Center.

She was born in Corcoran Township, Hennepin County Nov. 16, 1917, the daughter of August and Sophie Finke Fischer.

She was baptized at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran Dec. 10, 1917. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith by the Reverend John Packler at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran on Feb. 22, 1931.

Alice Fischer and Alvin Weese were joined in holy marriage Nov. 16, 1947, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in Corcoran. The Rev. W.O. Groenke officiated at the wedding ceremony.

Mrs. Weese was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Osseo and active in its Prayer Breakfast, Adult Bible Study and Ladies Aid. She also belonged to American Legion Post 172 Auxiliary in Osseo.

She loved her family and especially enjoyed doing things with her grandchildren. Alice enjoyed flowers, cooking, baking, fishing and her dogs.

Alvin Weese preceded his wife in death on Nov. 29, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, August and Sophie Fischer and by brothers, John and Walter Fischer.

Survivors include children, Arlene Weese of Osseo, Ruth (Greg) Modrow of Rockford, Randy (Cathy) Weese of Maple Grove and Sandra (Ross) Herman of Otsego; grandchildren Timothy (Char) Pino, Clinton Pino, Kevin (Tracy) Pino, Kristin Modrow, David Klinger, Daniel Klinger, Chasady Cochran and Angela Herman; great grandchildren Ezra Watrin Pino and Caleb Watrin; brother-in-law, Arthur Uecker of Buffalo; many other relatives and friends.

Thomas J. Buhr

Services for Thomas J. Buhr, 54, of Rogers and formerly of South Minneapolis were Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers.

Rev. Rick Skare officiated and interment with military rites followed at Word of Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Hassan Township.

Friends called at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home Monday, April 23, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Casket bearers were Jim Frederickson, Mike McAnally, Lon Saeger, Doug Thompson, Jason Alders and Gordy Nelson.

Mr. Buhr died Thursday, April 19, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale from lung cancer.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., March 24, 1947, the son of Harry F. and Mary Lou Miller Buhr.

He graduated from Frazee High School in 1965 and later honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

On Jan. 29, 1972, Thomas Buhr and Karen Marie Bass were married in Golden Valley.

He was employed for 19 years by Machine Technology, Inc. Mr. Buhr was also a passionate horseman and owned and operated Tucker Road Stable since August 1993.

He was formerly very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He belonged to Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers.

Survivors include wife, Karen; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Brandon Nienow; a son, Grant Thomas Buhr; parents, Harry F. and Mary Lou Buhr; brothers, Jerry (Pam), Randy (Julie) and Raymond (Salve); a sister, Amy; nieces, Jennifer Buhr, Sarah Buhr and Rachael Buhr; many relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Grant Buhr.

Joan Derosier

A memorial service for Joan D. Derosier, 61, of Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Loretto, was Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano.

Mrs. Derosier died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. She was born Nov. 7, 1939, in Red Wing the daughter of Floyd R. and Beulah R. (Walton) Borchert. She was married to Alex J. Derosier.

She was a college professor in Des Moines.

Mrs. Derosier was preceded in death by her husband, Alex. She is survived by her son, Michael of Rockford; two grandchildren, Jacob and Dakota Meyer of Rockford; and brother, Richard Borchert of Anoka.

Herbert L. Epple

Services for Herbert L. Epple, 87, of Montrose were Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Montrose United Methodist Church.

Rev. Marvin Repinski officiated and interment was in the Cassel Cemetery in rural Delano. Rev. Highland Goodman offered personal reflections about Mr. Epple.

Casket bearers were Brian Mielke, Mike Willms, Jim Epple, Tony Hafla, Denny Epple and Mike Peart. Honorary casket bearers were Julie Willms, Darlene Kolling, Brenda Mielke, Annette Hafla, Becky Heilskov-Miller, Jodie Kruse, Janelle Peart and Colette Epple.

Mr. Epple died Friday, April 27, 2001. He was born Aug. 5, 1913, in Montrose, the son of William and Minnie Wandersee Epple. He was joined in marriage to Esther P. Schultz April 16, 1938. The couple had three children. Mr. and Mrs. Epple farmed near Montrose for many years. Esther Epple preceded her husband in death July 13, 1990.

Mr. Epple was a life-time member of Montrose United Methodist Church. He also had formerly served on the school board of rural Dist. 31.

He is survived by children, Clara (Harold) Iversen of Waverly, Iowa, Herman (Joan) Epple of Montrose and Martha Mielke of Silver Lake; grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Willms, Becky (Scott) Heilskov-Miller and Jodie (Tyler) Kruse, Janelle (Mike) Peart, Annette (Tony) Hafla and Colette Epple, Brenda Mielke, Darlene (Brian) Kolling and Brian (Carrie) Mielke; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Olesen of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Donald (Delores) Epple of Montrose; many nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Don Mielke.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Epple was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Ellen Epple and Mildred Snyder; and brothers, Raymond Epple and Clarence Epple.

Claude Hennen

Services for Claude G. Hennen, 78, of Maple Grove were Saturday, May 5, 2001 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave N., Brooklyn Park.

Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.

Mr. Hennen was born Nov. 14, 1922 in St. Cloud. He died Wednesday, May 2, in Robbinsdale.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Carpenter's Union.

Survivors include his wife Rose Marie; son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne and Nancy of Brooklyn Park; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jim Weatherly of Bloomington, Donna and Rick Kranz of New Hope and Louise and Scott Fodstad of Crystal and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial may be given to the Claude G. Hennen Memorial Fund.
