Hildegard 'Hilly' Henry

Services for Hildegard "Hilly" Henry, 84, of Waverly were Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly.

Rev. Martin Shallbetter officiated and interment was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brian Kittock, Coco Henry, Dudley Greiner, Jr., Jimmy Greiner, Jeff Henry and Phil Laumann. Honorary pallbearers were Dawn Kittock, Michele Henry, Joyce Harty, Sissy Daniels, LeeAnn Tory, Debbie Krueger, Terri Peters, Anna Henry, Mary Henry, Rachel Kittock, Stephanie Gruenhagen, Amanda Gruenhagen, Tracy Amundon, Kelly Amundon, Shawn Tory, Sheldon Tory, Thomas Tory, Michele Anthony, Kaitlyn Krueger, Tyler Peters, Ashley Peters, Niles Hickman, Neila Hickman, Jamie Williams, Kayla Henry, Taylor Laumann, Amy Casper, Jessica Kraemer, Alex Kraemer, Ty Casper, Clay Casper and Wyatt Casper.

Mrs. Henry died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted. She was born Feb. 9, 1917, in St. Cloud, the daughter of Paul and Rose (Baggenstoss) Klein. She was the oldest of nine children. She married John Henry in Long Prairie June 23, 1936. The couple had eight children.

Mrs. Henry was well-known for her delicious fruitcake and chocolate chip and sour cream cookies as well as her yellow bean and bread soups. She loved and was very proud of all the members of her family.

She was preceded in death by husband, John; sons, Bob and John, Jr.; grandchild, Brenda Lee and great-grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew.

She is survived by sons, Roy (Sylvia) of Montrose, Gene (Betty) of Burtrum, Dale (Sharon) of Minneapolis and Jerry (Peggy) of Princeton; daughters, Judy (Dudley) Greiner of Marion, Iowa, and Pam (Brian) Neaton of Waverly; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four brothers; 11 sisters and many relatives and friends.

John A. Huotari

Services for John A. Huotari, 93, of Champlin were Thursday, May 3, at Brooklyn Park Lutheran Church. Interment was at Glen Haven.

He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Aino; brothers Andrew, Wayne, Uno and Reino.

Mr. Huotari is survived by his wife of 70 years Sadie; daughter Kathleen (Raymod) Kegler; granddaughters Deanna (Scott) Doroff and Sarah (Matt) Hansegard; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Donald J. Hutter

Services for Donald J. Hutter, 86, of Delano were Monday, April 23, 2001, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano.

Rev. Kenneth Ludescher, a cousin of Hutter, officiated and interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Pallbearers were grandson, Brian Thalmann, nephew, Ken Klaers, cousins, Bob Johnson and Ray Wilkins and friends, Wally Grotz and Tom Pettit.

Mr. Hutter died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Delano Healthcare Center after a long battle with leukemia. He was born May 23, 1914, the son of John and Anna (Luffey) Hutter. He grew up in Rockford and attended school in Rockford and Delano. He graduated from Delano High School in 1932, and after working at area farms during the heart of the depression, he began a 33-year career at Delano Granite Works in 1937. Hutter worked in the shop, cutting, lettering and polishing granite markers and other products, and later spent many years delivering and setting granite monuments and other stone structures throughout the Midwest.

A life-long member of St. Peter's Church, Hutter and Bernice Roelike were married at St. Peter's in 1940. Mr. Hutter was active behind the scenes in his church, serving as caretaker of Calvary Cemetery for many years and spending many hours providing repairs and maintenance in and around the church, school and rectory. In 1993 he received a lifetime achievement award for outstanding community service to St. Peter's.

In 1970, Mr. Hutter became chief of maintenance and head mechanic at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, where he worked until his retirement in 1980.

For many years, Mr. Hutter operated a part-time appliance repair business, and he continued the business into retirement. He was a self-taught jack-of-all-trades and was a man of many talents when it came to machine repairs or building construction.

In 1999 Mr. Hutter contracted acute myelogenous leukemia, which was put in remission several times through the use of chemotherapy and other newly-approved cancer treatments, and through his strong will. He entered Delano Healthcare Center in April after additional cancer treatments became ineffective. He passed away with his family at his side.

He is survived by wife, Bernice; daughter, Mary Ann (Randall) Thalmann of Plato, Minn.; sons, Dr. Richard (Marlene) Hutter of Onalaska, Wis., and Robert (Diane) Hutter of Delano; grandchildren, Brian (Karen) Thalmann of Plato, Janelle and Hilary Hutter of Onalaska and Elizabeth and Emily Hutter of Delano; great-grandchildren, Eric, Adam and Emily Thalmann of Plato and sister, Geraldine (James) Klaers of Maple Plain.

He was preceded in death by parents and brother, Claude Hutter.

Richard W. Jackson

Services for Richard (Rick) W. Jackson, 58, of Champlin and Park Rapids are Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Mr. Jackson was born July 13, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., to Wayne F. and Helen A. (Turner) Jackson.

He married Alice "Punky" Radke July 11, 1963, in Park Rapids. He worked for Thermo King Corp. for 35 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. He was known as "The Old Fossil" to his paleontology friends. Each year they would lease a quarry in Wyoming, hunting fossils and selling specimens. Mr. Jackson also appreciated music and the arts and would apply his artistic skills in drawing, painting and writing.

He died April 24 at St. Joseph's Area Hospital in Park Rapids.

Mr. Jackson is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Punky; daughters, Wendy (Lonnie) Mixon of Mobile, Ala., Laurie (Richard) Sinclair of Eden Prairie, Melissa and fiancé Michael Rogers of Fridley, Katie of Elk River; and grandchildren, Aodan Sinclair and Danielle Rogers.

Francis Justin

Services for Francis E. "Frank" Justen, 86, of Fletcher were at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, at St. Walburga Catholic Church in Fletcher.

Rev. John Bussmann was the celebrant and interment followed at St. Walburga Cemetery.

Melissa Milless gave the Prayer of the Faithful. The lectors were Sheila Wokson and April Justen. Mass servers were Tyler Justen, Marcus Milless, Mitch Milless and Ryan Justen. Special music was provided by Mary Kline. Kelin Leuer, Mark Prodahl, Jonathan Justen, Daniel Justen, Kevin Justen, Joshua Justen, Justin Wokson and Joe Justen served as the casket bearers.

Mr. Justen died Sunday, April 29, at the Long Lake Healthcare Center.

He was born in Bloomington March 6, 1915, the son of Joseph and Ida Doerfler Justen.

On Oct. 27, 1937, Francis Justen and Elizabeth Ancel were joined in holy marriage at the Assumption Catholic Church in Richfield. Mr. and Mrs. Justen came to Hassan Township in 1947 from Bloomington. They engaged in dairy and chicken farming near Fletcher for many years.

Mr. Justen was a faithful member of Sat. Walburga Catholic Church in Fletcher and was a past trustee of the parish. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years and was a Catholic Aid member.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Justen; sons, Gerald "Jerry" Justen, Donald (Paula) Justen, Kenneth (Margaret) Justen, Steven (Connie) Justen, Thomas (Beverly) Justen and Timothy (Vicki) Justen; daughters, Marlene (Edward) Dittell, Carol (Fred) Prodahl, Debra (Allen) Wokson and Mary Jane (Michael) Milless; 52 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo (Alpha) Justen; a sister, Isabel Husome; many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Justen was preceded in death by a daughter, LaVonne Justen; a granddaughter, Nicole Justen; parents, Joseph and Ida Justen; sisters, Melinda Justen, Josephine Justen and Cecelia Falk; and brothers, Gerard Justen, Alphonse Justen, Herbert Justen and Hilary Luster.

Darrel John Mineheine

Services for Darrel John Mineheine, 65, of Watertown were Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Pastor Dennis Bushkofsky officiated and interment was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Greg Johnson, Tom Griffith, Tom Smith and Mark Nelson.

Mr. Mineheine died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Elim Care Center in Watertown. He was born Dodge Center, Minn., April 16, 1936. He was married to Patricia Ann Elmer.

He was preceded in death by wife, Patricia and sisters, Darlene Jeska and Irene Arndt.

He is survived by son, Michael (Karen) Mineheine of Farmington; daughter, Ann (Tom) Smith of Delano; grandchildren, Tom, Josh, Eric and Nicole; special friend, Arlene Johnson of Watertown and brothers-in-law, Ron Jeska and Paul Arndt.

Jane Moyer

Jane Moyer, 75, of Osseo died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by husband, Gerald.

Survivors include children, Randy, Tammy and Marion and her fiance Scott.

Mrs. Moyer will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Private family service.

Alfred Radintz

Services for Alfred R. Radintz, 99, a life long resident of Maple Grove, were Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Maple Grove.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Radintz was preceded in death by parents, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include sisters, Caroline Schutte and Marie Berndt, and many nephews and nieces.

Memorials preferred to the donor's choice.

Lawrence H. Sullivan

Services for Lawrence H. Sullivan, 73, of Champlin, were Thursday, May 3, 2001, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Mr. Sullivan was born April 3, 1928, in Cottonwood to Hugh A. and Mary V. (Martin). He married Mary C. McGuire and became an attorney, He practiced law in Osseo for 32 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Hugh.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary; children Patrick (Lisa) of Champlin, Barrett (Rachel) of Andover, Molly of Blaine; granddaughters Makenna, Abbigail and Alexandra; sisters Mary Lou (Bob) Fink, Betty Ann (Dick) Haas, Joan (Phil) Schmid, Eileen (Rich) Froehle; many nieces and nephews.

Earl Wokson

A Memorial service for Earl Wokson, 67, of Ruthton, was Sunday, May 6, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers.

Rev. John Christiansen officiated. Congregational hymns included "Amazing Grace," and "Rock of Ages."

Honorary pallbearers were Florian Heinen, Merle Heinen, Tom Burdick, James Dehn, Arnold Dehn and Anthony Lynch.

Burial was in Berry Cemetery, Princeton. He died May 2, 2001 at his home near Ruthton.

Mr. Wokson was born Dec. 11, 1933 in Minneapolis, the son of Nel and Johanna (Bonde) Wokson. He attended country school in Hassan Township, Hennepin County. He graduated from Elk River High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1956 through 1958.

Mr. Wokson was united in marriage to Norma Reed Jan. 28, 1981 in St. Paul. He worked as a diesel mechanic and drove truck while in Elk River and Princeton. In Alabama he worked as a diesel mechanic and also did hobby farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant child; brothers, Arthur, Lawrence and Charles and sisters, Elsie and Betty.

Survivors include his wife Nora; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Dawn; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Rocky Hilter and daughter Annette Kinden; stepchildren, David Clark, Donald Clark, Nancy Schlussler and Norine Cantor and sisters, Marilyn Stewart and Evelyn Weber.

James Adams

Services for James (Jim) Adams, 75 of Hamel were Monday, April 16, 2001, at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake, with Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Adams was a World War II Veteran and member of the Hamel American Legion Post 394.

He is survived by loving wife Marilyn J.; sons Sheridan and wife Susan, and Jordan and wife Robin; daughters Jamie and husband Bill Gilligan, and Stacey and husband Jon Simikic; grandchildren Emily, Zachary, Rachel and Sydney; brothers John and William; sisters Marianne Evensen and Rita Neault; many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Bezenar.

Alice M. Barthel

Services for Alice M. Barthel, 89, formerly of St. Michael, were Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Rev. Leonard Siebenaler was the principal concelebrant and interment followed at the St. Michael Cemetery.

Jill Diem was the soloist for the Mass.

Paul Larson, Peter Larson, Joshua Barthel, Wallace Barthel, Dean Barthel, Jerry Barthel and LeRoy Hagel served as the casket bearers.

Mrs. Barthel died Thursday, April 12, at the St. Therese Home in New Hope.

She was born in Osseo Nov. 17, 1911, the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Hagel Smith.

In 1929, she graduated from Osseo High School. Prior to her marriage, she worked at the State Hospital in Anoka.

On June 15, 1940, Alice Smith and Harold Barthel were joined in holy marriage at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Anoka. God blessed their marriage with four children.

From 1965 until 1974, Mrs. Barthel was employed as a ward secretary at the Monticello-Big Lake Hospital.

She was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael and belonged to its Christian Mothers. She also was a member of the St. Therese Home's Auxiliary, a superb cookie baker and a grandmother extraordinaire.

Survivors include children, Nicholas (Lenora) Barthel of Santa Cruz, Calif., James Barthel of Birchwood and Julene (Greg) Larson of Clearwater; grandchildren, Krista Weis, Ann Weis-Swanson, Mary Listau and Patrick Weis; Joshua Barthel and Tiffany Barthel; Carrie Barthel and Katie Barthel; Sarah Larson, Elizabeth Larson, Paul Larson and Peter Larson; great-grandchildren, Alex Swanson, Taylor Listau and Mitch Listau; a sister, Marian Smith of Anoka; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Olivia Chervenak of Plymouth, Norbert Barthel of Annandale and Betty Barthel of Robbinsdale; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Barthel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold P. Barthel March 7, 1999; by a daughter, Mary Therese Weis in 1970; her parents Paul and Elizabeth Smith; and by brothers LeRoy Smith and Robert Smith.
