Robert Ulschmid

Services for Robert J. Ulschmid, age 68, of Maple Grove, were Wednesday, April 11, 2001 with a memorial mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7180 Hemlock Ln, Maple Grove.

Private interment.

Formerly of Frazee, Mr. Ulschmid died Sunday, April 8.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Marie.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Jean; daughters and son, Libby Jungers (Pat), John (Ellen), Judy Stanislaw (Bob), Pam Roth (Adam); grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew and two more to come; brothers and sisters, Gerard (Kay), Jane Rice, Thomas (Donna), Patricia Jicha (Jack), Margaret Curlik (Tom), Mary Teiken (Dennis) and Mark (Linda).

Memorials will be accepted by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to carry on his fight.

Margaret Barnes

Services for Margaret (Merz) (Turnham) Barnes, 91, of Medina were Monday, April 9, 2001, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with Interment at Holy Name Cemetery.

Mrs. Barnes was a member of the VFW 5903 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Leslie Turnham and Norman Barnes; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Leslie Grabill; brothers, Alfred and Ray Merz; and sisters, Rita Buckley and Marcella (Sally) Wooding.

She is survived by her children, John, Leon, Ted and Catherine Turnham, and Ronald, Allen and Phillip (Sam) Barnes; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Ahlstrom and Angela Frigaard; and brother, Norbert Merz.

Wanda Barnes

Services for Wanda Barnes, 77, of Rockford, formerly of Bloomington, were Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano with Pastor Andrew Krause officiating.

Interment was in Dawn Valley Memorial Park in Bloomington. Pallbearers were: Mike Swanson, Jr., Bill Swanson, James Barnes, Robert Barnes, Christopher Barnes and Scott Annis.

Mrs. Barnes died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. She was born to Merle and Leona (Ford) Simmons Feb. 15, 1924, in Neosha, Kan.

She married Morris E. Barnes in a private ceremony in Independence, Mo., Dec. 25, 1946. In 1957 they moved to Minnesota and then moved to Rockford in 1997.

Mrs. Barnes worked at Control Data for more than 23 years as an industrial engineer until her retirement in the 1980s. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, reading, going to garage sale, fishing and being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Meryl and Leona Simmons; two brothers, Arthur and Donald Simmons; and her sister, Carmelitta Harmon.

She is survived by Morris, her husband of 54 years; one son, Steve and Donna Barnes of Calif.; three daughters, Janis Annis of Delano, Jo Ellen Barnes of Rockford, and Diana and Michael Swanson of Ramsey; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; two sisters, Merlene Layton and Chanute, Kan., and Deloris Bauer of Milwaukee, Wis.

Dorinda J. Contaxis

Services for Dorinda J. Contaxis, 52, of Champlin were Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brooklyn Park. Interment is at Champlin City Cemetery.

She is survived by sister Laurel Ann (Paul) Johanson, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Lloyd Kentoph

Services for Lloyd Kentoph, 84, of Plymouth were Friday, April 6, 2001, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Remer with Interment following at Remer Cemetary.

Mr. Kentoph died Tuesday, April 3, in Plymouth. He was born March 3, 1917, in Ogilvie.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Fay and her husband, Dick Welk of Medina; granddaughters, Monika and Andrea; nephew, Dale Kentoph of Grand Rapids; and many other loving relatives.

Florence Knutson

Services for Florence S. Knutson, 72, of Elk River formerly of Maple Grove were service Saturday, March 31, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Gearhart Funeral Home, 552 E. River Rd., Anoka.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by husband, Wayne and daughter, Wendy. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Lawayne (Paul) Hein and Gayle (Gregory) Kauzlarich; and grandsons, Jonathan and David.

Memorials to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Myrtle Krotzer

Services for Myrtle Krotzer, 71, of Delano were Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Minnetrista Baptist Church in St. Bonifacius.

Pastor Brian Dent officiated, assisted by Pastor Jerry Dent. Interment was in Minnetrista Baptist Cemetery in St. Bonifacius.

Pallbearers were Jarred Dalbec, Jacob Krotzer, John Czanstkowski, Jr., Mark Krotzer, Jr., Shon Thole, Tyler Hanson and Mike Jaunich.

Mrs. Krotzer died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at her Franklin Township residence. She was born March 17, 1930 in Guthrie, Minn., the daughter of Otto and Martha (Steindorf) Smith. She was married to Ralph Alonzo Krotzer.

She married her first husband, Ray Hanson, in Minneapolis June 17, 1948. The couple settled in Excelsior, later moving to Delano in 1963. Mr. Hanson died in 1973. On Oct. 15, 1977, she married Ralph Krotzer in St. Bonifacius.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, quilt, play cards and golf. She enjoyed the time she spent with friends and family and loved to travel, but especially enjoyed coming home. She was a member of the Delano American Legion Auxiliary and the Garrison VFW Auxiliary.

Mrs. Krotzer was preceded in death by parents, Otto and Martha Smith; first husband, Ray Hanson; son, Daniel; grandson, Quentin Dalbec; sister, Doris Franston and brother, Ted Smith.

She is survived by husband, Ralph Krotzer; daughters, Marguerite (John) Czanstkowski of Delano, Vickie (Thomas) Dalbec of Waverly and Goody Johnson of Monticello; sons, Dennis, and Danny (Emma) Hanson, all of Delano; stepchildren, Mark (Deb) Krotzer of Delano and Lynn Krotzer; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and sisters, Vera Bladder and Lucille (Lawrence) Mueller.

Grace Smith

A memorial service for Grace W. Smith, 80, of Maple Grove, formerly of Minneapolis, was Friday, March 30, 2001, at 5 p.m. at the Kapala-Glodek-Malone Chapel, 7800 Bass Lake Rd., New Hope.

Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James.

Survivors include her daughters, Barb (Harry) Lindsholm, Sandy (Dick) Rassier, Bev (Jerry) Batkiewicz and Joan (Cal) Camerer; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Cyrilla Jobes and Mary Al Stroman; and special friend, Barb Barr.

Arline Seyfert

Services for Arline Mary Seyfert, 76, of Monticello were Saturday, March 31, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of the Monticello-Big Lake Community Nursing Home.

Rev. Timothy Rudolphi officiated and interment followed at the St. Michael Cemetery in St. Michael. Ms. Seyfert died Monday, March 26, at the Monticello-Big Lake Community Nursing Home.

She was born in Minneapolis Aug. 8, 1924, the daughter of William and Mary PaIlanch Heim. She was baptized at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis Aug. 24, 1924. She attended elementary school in Minneapolis. She attended high school in Maple Lake and Cold Spring.

Through the years, Ms. Seyfert was employed by the telephone company, Montgomery Wards, Peter Pan and held many other jobs. She, along with her sister, Dolores, also operated rooming houses for many years.

Ms. Seyfert was an expert seamstress. She loved music, always had a bright outlook and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was a long-time member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

She will be missed by her guardian angels and niece, Sheri (Wally) Reiter of St. Michael; sisters, Margie (Norb) Gresser of Cold Spring and Birdie (Jerry) Meyer of Litchfield; loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Anne E. Shaw

Services for Anne E. Shaw, 89, of Monticello Township were Thursday, March 29, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Monticello.

Rev. Timothy Rudolphi was the celebrant.

Joel Nawrocki, Beth-Ann Nawrocki, Luke Scadden, Jarrod Scadden, Rachel Bohnsack and Aaron Scadden served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Shaw died Sunday, March 25, 2001, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Minneapolis July 17, 1911, the daughter of Jakob and Frances Weber Fiega.

On Nov. 25, 1929, Anne Fiega was joined in holy marriage to Clayton Shaw in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with two daughters. Mr. Shaw preceded his wife in death in 1989.

Mrs. Shaw was a faithful member of St. Henry's Catholic Church in Monticello.

Survivors include daughters, Geraldine (Bruce) Nawrocki of Columbia Heights and Leah "Judy" (Kenneth) Scadden of Monticello; grandchildren, Joel Nawrocki, Beth-Ann Nawrocki, Luke (Bonnie) Scadden, Jarrod (Jenna) Scadden, Rachel (Karl) Bohnsack, Aaron (Heidi) Scadden, Nancy Hord and Gordie MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Andy, Amy (Phil), Alicia, Laura, Ben, Ashley, Anna, Noah, Riley, Nikole and Danielle; and a sister, Ceil Zdon of Columbia Heights; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her parents and by seven brothers and sisters.

Marie Baumeister

Services for Marie Baumeister, 61, of Isle formerly of Hamel were were Monday, April 2, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Church with interment at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Baumeister died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in McAllen, Texas. She was born Aug. 6, 1939, Forest City, Iowa

Mrs. Baumeister was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Corcoran Lioness.

She is survived by sons; Rodney and wife Char, Randy and wife Gerri Kay; daughters Virginia (John) Malikowski, Janine (Dave) Nelson and Billi-Jo Treischel, daughter-in-law Penny Gorman; brothers Bill Johnson, Jerry Johnson and Roger Johnson; sisters Margie Orgon and Doryce Robinson; and 21 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband Willard; son Russel; parents Gerhard and Mildred Johnson.

Andrew Donald

Memorial services for Andrew D. Donald, 73, of Maple Grove, formerly of Dayton, were Saturday, March 31, 2001 at 3 p.m. at the Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., in Brooklyn Center.

Burial was in Mound Cemetery, Brooklyn Center.

Mr. Donald died peacefully Tuesday, March 27, at his home. He was born April 22, 1927 in Burns Township.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lila Donald; son, Jerry (Susan); daughters, Bonnie and Debbie (Bud); sister, Martha Hammer; brothers, Conrad (Marrion), Richard (Neva); sister-in-law, June Bell; brother-in-law, Gordon (Joanne) Sandahl; special buddy, Ryan; grandchildren, Cory and Jae (Amy); great-granddaughter, Abigail; many nieces, nephews and many other close friends and neighbors.

If so desired, memorials may be given to the Heart, Lung or Diabetes Foundation of choice.

Mary Hockert Ketterling

Services for Mary Hockert Ketterling, 56, of St. Michael were 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, followed by burial at Word of Peace Cemetery.

Mrs. Ketterling died peacefully in her home March 24 after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family for her wonderful sense of humor, her courage and her caring ways.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Rich Ketterling; daughter, Angela (Gerald) Weigel of Rockford; son, Keith of Monticello; mother, Bernice Hockert, Jamestown, N.D.; sisters and brother, Madeline Clarys (Jim) of Dickinson, N.D.; Delores (Art) Fletcher of Mora; Barbara Hockert of Denver, Colo; Monica (John) Backer of Courtenay, N.D.; Douglas (Marilyn) Hockert, Joan (Mike) Rudy of Jamestown, N.D. and Jan (Victor) Caron of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her father, John.

Mrs. Ketterling attended St. James High Academy, Stanley High School and graduated from Courtenay, N.D. High School.

She was employed by ILBNC Clinic for 15 years.

Memorials may be sent to the family.

Pat J. O'Donnell

Services for Pat J. O'Donnell, 90, of Dayton, were Friday, March 30, 2001, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Anoka. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Anoka.

He was born Dec. 29, 1910 in DeGraff to Michael and Mary (Schrader) O'Donnell. He married MaryAnn McGowen and was a plumber and carpenter by trade. He died March 24, 2001, at Unity Hospital in Fridley.

He is survived by his wife MaryAnn, six children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister and many other relatives and friends.
