Richard A. Gutknecht

Services for Richard A. Gutknecht, 67, of rural Buffalo were Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield.

Rev. Dennis K. Strong officiated and interment followed at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

David Farstad was the organist for the funeral service. "On Eagles' Wings," "Abide with Me" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" were sung as congregational hymns.

Terry Schleif, Daryl Schleif, Dave Beise, Mark Tiemann, Paul Duff and David Duff served as honorary casket bearers.

Allen Gutknecht, Gary Gutknecht, Mark Gutknecht, Dan Gutknecht, Ken Schleif and Doug Beise served as the casket bearers.

Mr. Gutknecht died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 at the Buffalo Hospital. He was born in Frankfort Township May 12, 1933 the son of Carl H. and Eleanora Pautzke Gutknecht.

He was born again to be God's own child by the "washing of water in the Word" when he was baptized at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pelican Lake, July 16, 1933. He was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith by Rev. W.P. Haar at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pelican Lake Aug. 10, 1947. He was given James 4:8 as his confirmation memory verse.

He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1951.

On Aug. 10, 1957, Mr. Gutknecht and Dorothy Harff were joined in holy marriage at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greenwood. God blessed their marriage with a daughter, Lisa, and with a son, Steven.

Mr. Gutknecht engaged in dairy farming in Frankfort Township for many years and thoroughly loved farm life. He was an active member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield and formerly served his church as an elder and as an usher. He also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include loving wife, Dorothy H. Gutknecht; a daughter, Lisa (Scott) Anderson; and a son, Steve (Tracy) Gutknecht, all of Buffalo; grandchildren, Kellen, Katelyn and Mitchell Anderson, Brittany, Emma and Mallory Gutknecht; brothers and a sister, Arthur (Doris) Gutknecht, Walter (Darleen) Gutknecht, Carl (Roberta) Gutknecht Jr., Elroy (Florence) Gutknecht, all of Buffalo, and Lillian (Edwin) Duff of Sun City West, Ariz.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Caroline (Willmar) Bechtold of New Hope, Marlys (Howard) Schleif of Rogers, Kathleen (Ronald) Tiemann of Buffalo, Renata (Jack) Russek of Delano and Rita (Duane) Beise of Loretto; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, his parents, and by a brother, Elmer.

Evelyn King

Services for Evelyn King, 90, of Champlin were Friday, March 9, 2001, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka. Interment is at Champlin Cemetery.

Mrs. King was born in Hennepin County Dec. 9, 1910 to George T. and Anna M. (Beckenbach) Trombley. She died March 5, 2001, at Twin Rivers Care Center in Anoka.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 1983.

She is survived by her son Thomas (Benita) King of Anoka; daughter Lonita (Tim) Ward of Las Vegas; grandchildren Penny (Mark Hardin) Herberg, Todd and Craig King.

Violet E. Lallak

Services for Violet E. Lallak were Thursday, March 8 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shakopee. Entombment is at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alphonse (Mike); parents Rudolph and Helena (Buckentine) Kratzke; brothers and sisters Helen, Rudy, Waldron, Paula and Albert.

She is survived by her sons Larry (Karen) of Champlin, Gene (Carol) of Maple Grove, Mike (Cathy) of Burnsville, Dick (Lee Anne) if Maple Grove; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters Irene (Roy) Wessbecker of Waconia, Ruth West of Lima, Ohio, Elsie Lebens of Shakopee; sisters-in-law Cony Kratzke of Young America, Lou Kratzke of Robbinsdale; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family prefers memorials to the Minneapolis Lutheran High School of Bloomington.

Helen Mae Longerbone-Haub

Services for Helen Mae Longerbone-Haub, 68, of Champlin, are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 13 and 14, 2001.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 13) with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home in Brooklyn Center. There will be a mass of Christian burial Wednesday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Gerard's Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park with visitation one hour prior to service.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Daniel Earl and Leonard Longerbone.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Catharine (Cary) Swenson, Terrance (Meron) Haub, Barb (Steve) Anderson, Jennifer Holter and Sandy Blair; and grandchildren, Gretchen, Drew, Jimmy, Harry, Tommy and Mika. Also survived by sisters and brothers, Dorothy Wolf, Marge (Bill) Noel, Floyd (Doris) Longerbone and Stella (Earl) Hassinger; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Muriel Longerbone, Evelyn Appenzeller, Marge (Ray) Olson and John (Judy) Jaub; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to an area battered women's shelter.

Eleanor Rose Marystone

Services for Eleanor Rose (Bauman) Marystone, 98, of Brooklyn Park, were Friday, March 9, 2001 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano.

Rev. Thomas Boedy officiated and interment was in Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Frank Muckenhirn, Stephen Noll, Karen Coggins, Thomas Long, Laura Shelley and Lynda Davis.

Mrs. Marystone died Monday, March 5, 2001 at St. Therese Nursing Home in New Hope. She was born May 17, 1902 in Delano, the daughter of William and Sophia (Matter) Bauman. She was married to Arthur J. Marystone. She was a past member of the Church of the Ascension in Minneapolis, a member of the Rosary Society, a retired REA Express employee and a member of BRAC 9044.

Mrs. Marystone was preceded in death by husband, Arthur, in 1960, and daughter, Norma Noll.

She is survived by daughters, Joan (George) Long of Brooklyn Park and Janet Kreger of San Diego, Calif.; sons, Arthur of New York City, Paul of Minneapolis and Donald (Barbara) of Plymouth; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Gladys (John) Frane of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; brother, Jim Bauman of Monticello and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wallace G. Splettstoeszer

Services for Wallace G. Splettstoeszer, 77, of Watertown were Saturday, March 3, 2001 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Rev. Jay Klein officiated and interment was in Lewis Cemetery in Maple Plain.

Casket bearers were James Backlund, Melvin Kirchenwitz, Robert Leistiko, Roger Leistiko, Raymond Paylish and Mitz Pitschneider.

Mr. Splettstoeszer died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. He was born May 19, 1923 to Clarence A. and Lydia W. (Dummer) Splettstoeszer in a log house on their farm near Young America in Camden Township. He was baptized June 10, 1923 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer and confirmed March 21, 1937 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Watertown.

He married Doris B. Taylor Nov. 6, 1945 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Mound and Lyndale before finally settling in Watertown. Mr. Splettstoeszer worked as a machinist at J.R. Clark Co. in Spring Park for most of his career and later at Phillips Manufacturing. He was very gifted and talented working with his hands. All through his years he loved working on his Model A cars, first getting them to run and in later years, restoring, refinishing and finishing a 1930 Model A Coupe, which he took to several parades and car shows winning trophies and ribbons. He always took great pride in keeping his vehicles in tip-top condition. He also had many interests, including listening to old time music, snowmobiling with good friends, going to the Butterfield Threshing Show, camping with family and the Good Sam camping club, fishing at the cabin with family and especially teaching the grandchildren how to fish.

He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Lydia Splettstoeszer; brother, Vernon Splettstoeszer; sister, Alice Lindner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Martha Taylor and brothers-in-law, Gerald Backlund, Edgar Lindner and Willard Pawelk.

He is survived by wife, Doris; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Larry Segner of Maple Plain; grandchildren, Mark Segner and Kristi Segner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Marvin Leistiko of Waconia, Gladys and Earl Taylor of Maple Plain and Delores and Duane Shochenski of Mound; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Nancy Splettstoeszer of Hamel; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Bernice Pawelk of Hutchinson and Adeline and Glennard Pawelk of Hutchinson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Gilbert W. Stahlke

Services for Gilbert W. Stahlke, 88, of Mound, were Sunday, March 4, 2001 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mound.

Rev. Tom Evans officiated and interment was in Union Cemetery in Mound.

Casket bearers were grandchildren Brian Holm, Joshua Landsman, Donald Morton, Brad Morton, James Morton, Scott Morton, Eric Holm, Keith Holm, Katie Stahlke, Megan Landsman, Stacey Lynn and Matthew Landsman.

Mr. Stahlke died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at Presbyterian Homes in Spring Park. He was born July 2, 1912 in Waconia, the son of William and Alice (Vahl) Stahlke. He was baptized July 21, 1912 and was confirmed May 9, 1926 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia.

He married Lillian A. Krause April 27, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was very active in church functions, including being an elder of the church and an usher. He loved fishing, playing cards, bowling and having coffee with his friends. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

He is survived by children and spouses, Dorothy and James Morton of Cushing, Betty Holm of Watertown, Douglas and Molly Stahlke of Maple Grove, Nancy and Gary Landsman of Mound and Gerald Stahlke of Shakopee; 17 granchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Lorna Stahlke of Watertown, Dwain and Ruth Stahlke of Waverly and Irene Stahlke of Waconia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl Krause of Waconia, Ralph and Dorothy Krause of Ocala, Fla., and Florence Krause of Mound; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Gordian Walesch

Services for Gordian F. (Gordy) Walesch, 85, of Hanover were Monday, March, 5, 2001, at 1 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Rev. Leonard Siebenaler was the celebrant and interment with military rites followed at the Hanover Village Cemetery.

Tim Walesch, Chad Walesch, Shannon Kolasa, Nick Kolasa, Matt Kolasa and John Oliver served as casket bearers.

Mr. Walesch died Friday, March 2, at the Annandale Care Center.

He was born May 1, 1915, in St. Michael the son of Peter and Anna Gutzwiller Walesch.

Mr. Walesch honorably served his Country in the United States Army during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

Gordian Walesch and Dorothy Faue were joined in holy marriage Jan. 8, 1949, in the rectory of the St. Michael Church in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with a son and a daughter.

Mr. Walesch was employed for more than 30 years at Minneapolis Moline/White motors. He was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Michael.

He belonged to American Legion Post 570 in St. Michael and was a former member of the Hanover Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred, Claude and Bert; and by his sister, Letty Zeck.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Walesch; son, Steven M. (Nancy) Walesch; daughter, Nancy (Stan) Kolasa Jr,. all of Hanover; grandsons, Tim and Chad Walesch, Shannon (Sabrina) Kolasa, Nick Kolasa and fiancee Amanda and Matt Kolasa; a great grandson, Dylan Kolasa; brother, Leon (Esther) Walesch of St. Michael; sisters, Verena Pearson of Wayzata, Anita Goeb and Ruth Walesch, both of St. Michael, and Inez Oliver of Hanover; sister-in-law, Joan Krekula of Brooklyn Park; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Darlene Walker

Services for Darlene Walker, 53, of Rockford were Friday, March 9, 2001, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.

Mrs. Walker died Sunday, March 4, at her residence.

She was born in Glencoe Sept. 28, 1947, the daughter of Dwayne and Shirley Teubert Shrupp and was baptized at the Bergen Church.

She was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith by the Rev. Don Severson at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe June 24, 1962.

On March 19, 1976, Darlene was joined in holy marriage to Richard L. Walker in Crystal.

On Feb. 14, 1993, Darlene dedicated her life to the Lord at the Rockford Baptist Church.

She was a former cook at Jan's Cafe in Rockford and at the Rockford Gardens. Most recently, she had been employed at Gage Marketing and for the past month and a half found help and peace at the Bethseda Rehab Center.

She is survived by husband, Richard L. Walker; children, Tony A. (Lisa) Schroeder of Delano, Troy J. (Brenda) Schroeder, Debbie A. (Nathan "Jamie") Buoy, all of Rockford, and Dawn M. Walker of Rockford and fiancé Brian McAlpin; seven grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Colleen Wiehle

Services Colleen Marie (nee Grabowski), age 48, of Maple Grove, were Monday, March 12, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 7025 Halifax Ave N., Brooklyn Center.

Mrs. Wiehle died Thursday, March 8.

Survivors include her husband, Greg Wiehle; daughters, Stacey (Cliff) Richman and Jessica Wiehle; son, Brent; grandson, Andrew Richman; parents, Edward and Marilyn Grabowski; mother-in-law, Betty Wiehle; brothers, Gary (Olga) Grabowski, Wayne (Carol) Grabowski; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorials preferred to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

William F. Beckfeld

Services for William F. Beckfeld, age 67, of Shakopee, were Friday, March 2, at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, Wayzata. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan.

Mr. Beckfeld is preceded in death by his son, Christopher; parents, William and Charlotte; father-in-law, Ray Buirge.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E.; children, Tom of Big Lake, Beth (Lynn) Hassel of St. Bonifacius, Amy (Chris) Brynteson of Maple Lake, Bill (Tracy) of Farmington, Paul (Kathy) of Champlin, Jody (Scott) Smith of Becker, Joseph of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Fred) Hart of Belle Plaine; brothers, Richard (Louise) of Loretto, Raymond (Linda) of Minneapolis; mother-in-law Mary Buirge of Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Open Arms of Minnesota, the Catholic Pastoral Committee for Sexual Minorities, or donor's choice.

Cyril Christenson

Services for Cyril Donavan "Chris" Christenson, 65, of Albertville were Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. The Rev. Delburn Kurtz officiated.

Interment with military rites was held Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.

Mr. Christenson died Saturday, Feb. 24. He was born in Dassel June 16, 1935 the son of Cyril Raymond and Mabel Wuollet Christenson.

Mr. Christenson honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

On June 25, 1960, Mr. Christenson was joined in holy marriage to Lorraine E. Lewandowski at the Church of St. Joseph in North Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with a daughter and a son.

He owned and operated Chris' Economy Carpet in Albertville and belonged to American Legion Post 523 in Golden Valley.

Mr. Christenson enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, and snowmobiling.

Survivors include wife, Lorraine Christenson; daughter, LeAnn Christenson of Monticello; son, Todd (Sally) Christenson of Albertville; a grandson, Justin Todd Christenson; a sister, Donna (Ray) Maier of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley (Arvin) Olson of Plymouth; Kenneth (Mary Kay) Lewandowski of Elk River; other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and by a brother-in-law Larry Lewandowski.
