Ethel B. Jones

Services for Ethel B. Jones, 89, of St. Michael and formerly of Lake Charlotte were conducted Wednesday evening, July 25, 2001, at 7:30 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones died Sunday, July 22, at the Buffalo Hospital.

She was born in Minneapolis July 13, 1912, the daughter of Gust and Dora Kruger Beyer.

She married Andrew S. Jones April 15, 1961, in Columbia Heights. Mr. Jones preceded his wife in death July 4, 1968.

She was formerly employed at Lyon Food Products for many years.

She also enjoyed playing the organ and piano.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her sons, Glenn H. (Jackie) Swanson and Gary D. (Donna) Swanson, all of Buffalo; a daughter, Gail (Greg Knutsen) Kozlak of Plymouth; a daughter-in-law, Mary Swanson of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine (Roy) Westberg of Maple Grove; a brother, Elmer (Lorraine) Beyer of Elk River; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by a son, Gene W. Swanson in 1996, parents; a granddaughter, Jennifer Swanson; a great-grandson, Morgan Greninger; and seven brothers and sisters.

James Scidmore

Services for James Joseph Scidmore, 44, of St. Michael were conducted Monday, July 23, 2001, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.

Rev. Paul R. Settergren officiated at the funeral service.

Michael W. Smith, Wayne Mayer, Forrest Borreson, Steven Mike, Kevin Blaeser and Fred Steen served as casket bearers.

Mr. Scidmore died Thursday, July 19, at Fairview-University Hospital.

He was born Dec. 31, 1956, in Waseca, Minn.

His family subsequently moved to White Bear Lake in 1957. He attended Bellaire and Parkview elementary schools and later Sunrise Park Middle School. He attended White Bear Lake Senior High and then Mariner Senior High. He graduated from Mariner (later renamed White Bear Lake Senior High School-South Campus) in 1974.

For six years he worked for United Parcel Service before moving to Colorado in 1980. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for an apartment complex while attending the Colorado Institute of Art.

He graduated in 1984 and moved back to Minnesota in 1985, where he worked as a creative director and photographer for Image Design and Exe Advertising. In 1988, he formed his own firm of Scidmore, Hersom and Others, Inc. with partner Linda Hersom. The agency has accounts worldwide in the hospitality, medical, and industrial markets.

Mr. Scidmore was a member of ACM SIGGRAPH and served as International Co-Chair with Linda Hersom in 1988 and 1999 as well as International Resources Co-Manager from 1991 to 2000.

He will be remembered by friends and family as someone who enjoyed life and was unafraid of a challenge. At various times he enjoyed fly fishing, piloting small planes, scuba diving, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, photography, boating, gourmet cooking, playing the bagpipes and traveling the world.

He is survived by his parents, Warren and Stella Scidmore; a brother Stephen; and by a loving friend and partner, Linda Hersom.

Gerald Schleif

Services for Gerald Schleif, 83, of Osseo, formerly of Greenfield and St. Michael, were Thursday, July 19, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Pastor Dennis K. Strong officiated and interment followed at the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Steren Schleif, Daryl Schleif, Kenneth Schleif, Chad Schleif, Terry Schleif and Jason Leaf served as casket bearers.

Mr. Schleif died Tuesday, July 17, 2001.

He was born June 16, 1918 in Greenwood Township, Hennepin County the son of Richard and Katherin Stassen Schleif.

He was born again to be God's own child by the "washing of water in the word" when he was baptized July 7, 1918. He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood March 20, 1932. He was given Revelation 2:10 as his confirmation memory verse.

On October 6, 1940 Gerald Schleif and Elda Tessmer were joined in holy marriage at the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Rev. W.P. Haar officiated. Elda preceded her husband in death on June 17, 1994. On October 21,1995 Gerald Schleif and Verdell Faue were joined in holy marriage.

Mr. Schleif engaged in dairy farming for many years in Greenfield and was a faithful member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Verdell A.; children, Kathleen (Lauren) Hafften of Loretto, Dorothy Leaf of Champlin, Gloria (Howard) Marschel of Plymouth and Paul (Sue) Schleif of Maple Lake; grandchildren, Amanda Schleif, Chad (Susie) Schleif, Michael (Gretchen) Hafflen, Jason and Tammy Leaf, Tonya (Scott) Johnson; great-grandchildren Heather and Ryan Hafften, Sean and Benjamin Schleif, Jared Carlson, Cayla and Madeline Johnson; step-children Gary (Bonnie) Faue of Osseo, Cynthia (Dale) Pomerleau of Champlin; step-grandchildren Adam and Melanie Pomerleau, Gretchen Faue, Trisha and Erin Loth; three step-great-grandchildren; Brother: Howard (Marlys) Schleif of Rogers; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his first wife, Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Donald and Delmar Schleif.

June Selgeby

A Mass of Christian Burial for June L. Selgeby, 74, of Maple Grove, formerly of Rogers were Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Church of St. Andrews, Elk River.

Burial was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Mrs. Selgeby died Tuesday, July 17, in Robbinsdale. She was born Oct. 5, 1926 in Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by husband, Vernon (Bill).

Survivors include daughters, Leslie (Charles) Swenson, Prior Lake, Julie (Todd) Bourgeois, Elk River, Lee (John) Grimmer, Elk River, Libby (Mark) Hansen, Otsego; grandchildren, Matthew (Angela) Swenson, Michelle (Donald) Damberger, Bobby and Rachel Grimmer, Jackie and Olivia Hansen; stepgrandchildren, Greg, I Chad and David (Nicole) Bourgeois.

Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society Research, or North Memorial Medical Center Hospice.

Allen Vetsch

Services for Allen H. Vetsch, 48, of rural Monticello were Friday, July 27, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.

Rev. Timothy Rudolphi was the celebrant and interment followed at St. Albert Cemetery.

Alexis Roden was the organist for the Mass. Dan Brabec, Randy Horsch, Jeff Lenz, Andy Vetsch, Scott Brabec and Dale Vogl served as the casket bearers. Mr. Vetsch died Tuesday July 24, at the Monticello-Big Lake Hospital.

He was born Jan. 31, 1953, in Princeton the son of Cletus A. and Delphine C. Kasper Vetsch.

He graduated from St. Michael-Albertville High School in 1972.

Mr. Vetsch engaged in farming for many years and later worked at J & B Wholesale Dist. Inc.

He was a faithful, lifelong member of St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville. He also belonged to Catholic Aid Association and to the Knights of Columbus Council #4174.

Mr. Vetsch is survived by his parents, Cletus and Delphine Vetsch of Monticello; brothers and sisters, Ron Vetsch of Maple Grove, Dorothy (Ed) Brabec of Howard Lake, Betty (Phil) Horsch of Monticello, Patty (Gary) Lenz of Albertville, Loren (Kristin) Vetsch of Browerville, Mark Vetsch of Monticello, Marvin (Brenda) Vetsch of Winsted and Keith Vetsch of Monticello; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Annette, and also by his grandparents.

Charles Weber

Services for Charles Harold Weber, 59, of Glyndon, were Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Dilworth. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon.

Mr. Weber was born Dec. 5, 1941, in Rogers, to Walter and Gertrude (Keske) Weber. He graduated from high school in St. Michael.

Mr. Weber married Judy Fehn Nov. 19, 1960. They moved to Glyndon in 1965, where they have since resided.

He died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Innovis Health, Fargo, N.D.

He was employed with Honeywell, New Brighton. In Glyndon, he worked at Highway Host as well as Green Masonry. He also did various catering work, crafts and pre-casting.

Everyone would always find a smile on Chuck's face when his grandkids were near. He enjoyed fishing and afternoon card games. He made the most of each and every day.

Mr. Weber is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy; daughters, Patty Rudnicki, Moorhead; and Pam Burnside, Fargo; son-in-law, Corey Burnside; grandchildren, Scott, Bryan, Allie and Jarod; and three brothers and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by two children, Ron and Kathy; sister, Beverly; brother, Harlan; and his parents.

Margaret Adair

Services for Margaret Lavina Moore Adair were Monday, July 2, 2001, in Addison, Texas. The Rev. William Loveless officiated.

Margaret M. Adair died peacefully on Thursday, June 28, at North Memorial Hospice in Robbinsdale.

Mrs. Adair was 86 years old and eternally young. Change did not daunt her. She was born in a farmhouse in Dallas County, Texas, into a "horse and buggy society" and lived to see a world driven by technology. Margaret attended Dallas area schools: Armstrong Elementary from 1920 to1927, Highland Park High School from 1927 to 1931, Southern Methodist University from 1931 to 1936 and attended graduate school at the University of Texas-Austin from 1936 to1938.

After several years of raising a family and teaching school she returned to college and earned a Masters degree of Education. She traveled and moved about the world with her Navy husband, making friends and finding the best in every situation.

Margaret and Lallance raised seven children in their 56 years of marriage. If she couldn't find joy, she created it. Margaret was a loving daughter, beloved sister, sweetheart, devoted wife, cherished mother, adored grandmother, dear friend, champion of the needy, and person beyond compare. Margaret touched everyone she met and added sunshine, joy, laughter and love to their lives. She used her heart and her mind for the best of purposes. Her dear heart has stopped beating but the value of her life will continue for eternity. We loved her dearly and will never, ever stop missing her. She will live in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lallance Acheson Adair and her son James Lallance Adair.

Mrs. Adair is survived by her sister Mary Wren of Daytona Beach, Fla.; daughters Susan A. Donovan of Rochester, N.Y., B. Anne Adair of Rockford, Mary A. Verbick of Medina, Masako M. Trevino of Euless, Texas and Jane A. Grady of Londonderry, N.H.; son, John F. Adair of Jacksonville, Texas; 18 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Savern Dmohoski

Services for Savern (Sal) Dmohoski, 86, of Brooklyn Park were Monday, July 16, 2001, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope.

Mr. Dmohoski died Thursday, July 12, in Brooklyn Park. He was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Billings, Mont.

He was a member of the Crystal Knights of Columbus; St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; pipefitters Union and a long time employee of Minneapolis Gas Co.

Survivors include his wife Charlotte M.; sons, Leonard Krause of Maple Grove, David of Brooklyn Park, Thomas of Plymouth and Steven of Plymouth; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Thomas Egan of Maple Grove; Ellen and Alan Paulson of Florida; 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Savern Dmohoski Memorial Fund.

Donald Fairchild

Services for Donald J. Fairchild 46, of Bemidji, were Saturday, July 7, 2001, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Bemidji.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Fairchild died Tuesday, July 3, 2001.

He was a 1974 graduate of Coon Rapids High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education and master of science degree in special education from Bemidji State University. He had worked for Northwest Minnesota Juvenile Center in Bemidji since 1980 and was a lead teacher. He was an outdoorsman, teaching life's values to his sons through hunting and fishing, and had founded a fishing tournament for the youngsters at the juvenile center that continues today. He had coached middle school and ninth grade football.

Mr. Fairchild was preceded in death by daughter, Brooke Marie.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Mary (Weispfenning) of Bemidji; sons, Kenneth of St. Cloud and Daniel of Bemidji; father, David (Linda) Fairchild of Phoenix, Ariz.; mother, Lucille Fairchild of Corcoran; brothers, Mark (Lori) Fairchild of Coleraine, and Kevin (Dori) Fairchild of Maple Grove; sister, Lisa (Dan) Kolander of Corcoran, and step brother, John (Charlene) Ptacek of Seminole, Fla.

Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society "Relay for Life."

Edward B. Kittok

Services for Edward B. Kittok, 71, of Maple Plain were Thursday, July 12, 2001, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Delano.

Rev. Michael Miller officiated and interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Delano.

Pallbearers were Richard Kittok, John Kittok, Kathleen (Kittok) Dammann, Mary (Kittok) Roden, Dan Kittok, Pete Kittok and Mary Jo Kittok.

Mr. Kittok died of a heart attack Sunday, July 8, 2001, at the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Minneapolis. He was born Oct. 19, 1929, in Minneapolis, the son of Michael J. and Mary Elizabeth (Schyna) Kittok.

He was a member of the U.S. Army and after he was discharged, he farmed for many years in the Maple Plain area.

He is survived by brothers, Michael of New Orleans, Vincent of Annandale, Eric (Joan) of New Orleans and Jerome (Joan) of Maple Plain. He is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews, 40 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.

Joseph Held

Services for Joseph W. Held, 18, of Anoka were Friday, July 13, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka.

Private interment.

He was a member of the Anoka High School Concert Band, Marching Band, commended National Merit Scholar, and a Scholastic Achiever.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Peter and Viola Held.

Survivors include his mother, Christine Kilbey Held of Anoka; father, Paul Held of Maple Grove; brother, Nicholas Held, and sister, Victoria Held, both of Anoka; grandparents, Warner and Patricia Kilbey of Wisconsin; uncles, Michael (Chris) Kilbey of California, Thomas Kilbey of Nevada; aunt, Sue (Dave) Ziegler of Wisconsin; uncles, Michael (Ann) Held of Pennington; Steve (Sharon) Held of Sartell, Peter (Dee) Held of Washington; aunts, Janet (Michael) Schrantz of Maple Grove, Diana (Bob) Rogers of Rice, Renee (Durwood) Bettenberg of Burnsville, Taryn (Jerry) Lane of Sauk Rapids, Jeane (Brad) Phillippi of Little Falls; and numerous cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or Anoka High School Band Program.
