Kenneth LaRoche

Services for Kenneth J. LaRoche, 53, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Champlin were Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Washburn-McReavy DuSchane Chapel in Robbinsdale.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Agatha LaRoche; and sister, Ernestine LaRoche.

He is survived by his son, Brandon; daughter, Heather; granddaughters, Jasmine, Jenna and Monique; brother, Richard; sisters, Marie and Teresa (Barry); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joseph LaBounty

Memorial services for Joseph Glen LaBounty, 22, of Brooklyn Park were Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Osseo United Methodist Church, 16 Second Ave S.E., Osseo.

Mr. LaBounty died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 10. He was a 1997 graduate of Park Center High School. He attended Moorhead State, where he played basketball for the Dragons. He was known as an excellent singer and did so enthusiastically whenever he could.

He was preceded in death by his grandma, Carole Strom and grandpa, Joe LaBounty.

Survivors include mother, Peggy Rezack and her husband Frank; grandpa, Glen Strom and wife Dianne; aunts and uncles Pat and Byron Smith, Bob and Kay Strom, and Alice and Roger Tanghe; and cousins Ron, Kelly and Tiffany.

He is further survived by father, Don LaBounty and his fiancee Diane Meyer; grandma, Norma Brinkhaus and husband Art; aunts and uncles Paul and Debbie LaBounty, Richard and Sharon LaBounty, and Andrea Perkins; cousins Chris, Tommy, Jennifer, Paul, Candy, Amy, Justin, Scott, Luke and Reed; and many other loving family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

James Prince

Services for James Thomas Prince, 80, a resident of Osseo from 1959 to 2000, were Monday, July 16, 2001, at Evans Nordby Funeral Home, 34 Second St. N.E., Osseo.

Mr. Prince died in Bradenton, Fla., June 15, 2001. He was born June 29, 1920, in Winchester, Tenn., to Clofton Otis Prince Sr. and Ethel Anderton Prince.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran. Upon completion of his military service, he attended the University of Minnesota and received his master's degree in microbiology. He served on the teaching staff of the University of Minnesota Medical School his entire career and retired in the late 1980s. He enjoyed sharing time between his Osseo home and his lake home in Hackensack, until he purchased his home in Palmetto, Fla., in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kohl Prince.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Mike and wife Diana of Oak Ridge, Mo., daughter and son-in-law Marcia and husband Gerald Schmidt of Jansen, Neb.; grandchildren, Amy Prince of St. Paul, Ryan Prince of Woodbury, Justin Prince of Oak Ridge, Mo., Erin Hente and husband Andy of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; great granddaughter, Selena Hente, special friend, Nanette Eklund of Palmetto, Fla.; and Jake and Holly, his treasured dogs.

Memorials preferred to the James T. Prince Memorial Fund, c/o TCF Bank, 801 Marquette Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55402.

Robert Schirber

Services for Robert Martin Schirber, 60, of Maple Grove were Monday, July 16, 2001, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave. N.,

Brooklyn Park.

Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Maple Grove.

Mr. Schirber died Friday, July 13, at North Memorial Medical Center after a six-month battle with a brain tumor. He was born April 1, 1941, in St. Cloud to Harriet and Al Schirber. He moved with his family to Jamestown, N.D., in 1947. He was active in Boy Scouts as a boy and also later as a leader. He served two years in the U.S. Army. He attended St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn. He married Jean Abbott, formerly of Dawson, N.D. Mr. Schirber began working for White Drug in 1968 in Jamestown. He moved to Maple Grove in 1986 and was employed with Thrifty White Drug until his retirement due to his illness. He was an active man, who enjoyed playing volleyball, walleyball, biking and was a great cook. He enjoyed gardening with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his father, Al.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; son, Richard of Thermopolis, Wy.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dan Winter of Oak Park, Ill.; granddaughter, Jessica Schirber of Elk Point, S.D.; mother, Harriet of Jamestown, N.D.; and brother, Greg of Atlanta, Ga.

Howard Sipe

Services for Howard G. Sipe, 101, of Presbyterian Homes and formerly of St. Michael were Monday, July 16, 2001, at the Church of St. Michael in St. Michael.

The Concelebrants were Father Leonard F. Siebenaler and Father Burton Bloms, OSB.

Interment was at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.

The casket bearers were Mr. Sipe's great grandchildren.

Mr. Sipe died Wednesday, July 11, 2001. He was born on Oct. 20, 1899, in Loretto the son of Eiphriam and Margaret Huster Sipe.

On April 15, 1920, Howard Sipe and Esther Dick were joined in holy marriage in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with 80 years of married life and with a daughter, Dorothy.

Through the years, Howard and Esther operated their family's beverage company. Esther Sipe preceded her husband in death on June 5, 2000.

Mr. Sipe is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Stannard of Hopkins; grandchildren, Kathleen (Greg) Suddendorf of Excelsior, and Michael Stannard of Chanhassen; great grandchildren, Patricia (Michael) Babler of Chanhassen, and Mary Suddendorf and Anne Suddendorf, both of Excelsior, and Ashley Stannard of Chanhassen; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Sipe was preceded in death by parents, Eiphriam and Margaret Sipe, 10 brothers and sisters and by a son-in-law, Paul D. Stannard.

Larry Thomas

Services for Larry Thomas, 58, of Loretto were Thursday, July 12, 2001, at United Presbyterian Church in Rockford.

Mr. Thomas was owner of the Big Woods Saloon in Loretto and a long-time member of Sundance Golf Course.

He was preceded in death by his father, George.

He is survived by Jaime Falde; mother Florence Feyo; five daughters, Lori (Gary) Roubinek, Lisa (Gordon) Hendrickson, Tami (Joe) Sheehan, Traci (Dan) Farniok and Tiffani (Robb) Francis; six grandchildren; one sister, Diane Feyo; four brothers, Chris (Liz) Feyo, David (Judy) Thomas, Kent (Annette) Thomas and Ronald (June) Thomas; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Carol Ann Weidenbach

Services for Carol Ann Weidenbach, 59, of rural Monticello were Tuesday, July l0, 2001, at the Church of St. Albert in Albertville.

Father Leonard Siebenaler was the Celebrant and interment followed at the St. Albert Cemetery.

Friends called from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 9, at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. A Prayer Service was held Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Weidenbach's Godchildren, Sue Anderson, Jean Knudsen, Lisa Plante, Brenda Lindenfelser, Lisa Hurt and Karlette Barthel served as honorary casket bearers.

Michael Kasper, Troy Barthel, Nick Barthel, Kurt Roden, Ron Bistodeau, Jim Bistodeau, Mike Weidenbach and Steve Weidenbach served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Weidenbach died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at her residence. She was born April 29, 1942, in St. Michael the daughter of Carl and Bernadette Roden Barthel.

She graduated from St. Michael High School in 1960.

On Oct. 5, 1963, Carol Ann Barthel and Donald Weidenbach were joined in holy marriage at the Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. Mr. and Mrs.

Weidenbach engaged in dairy farming north of Albertville for many years.

She was a faithful member of the Church of St. Albert in Albertville and was a former member of the Christian Mothers. She also belonged to the Albertville Royalty Committee and to the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Mrs. Weidenbach is survived by husband, Donald; children, Betty (Jeff) Schoen of Monticello, Kathy (Dan) Barthel of St. Michael, Tom Weidenbach and and Paul (Rochelle) Weidenbach all of Monticello, and Diane (Donnie) Soderlund of Aberdeen, S.D.; six granddaughters, Ashley Barthel, Courtney Schoen, Danielle Barthel, Miranda Schoen, Samantha Weidenbach, Savannah Barthel and an unborn grandchild (baby Schoen) expected in two weeks; mother, Bernadette Barthel of Buffalo; sisters, Janice (Ralph) Kasper of St. Michael, and Barb Barthel of St. Michael and friend Ken; brothers, Dennis (Jan) Barthel of Becker, and Gary (Mary) Barthel of Sauk Centre; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, LaVern Bistodeau of Albertville, Vernon (Helen) Weidenbach of Monticello, and Eileen (Frank) McCoy of Elk River; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Weidenbach, her father, Carl Barthel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Adeline Weidenbach; and a brother-in-law, Robert Bistodeau.

Raymond Edward Diem

Services for Raymond Edward Diem, 86, of Delano, were Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano.

Rev. James Livingston officiated and interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Pallbearers were Len Schreder, Jerry Borrell, Dick Traen, Rich Ditty, Leroy Moonen and Jerry Blauert.

Mr. Diem died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Delano Healthcare Center. He was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Franklin Township, the son of John P. and Lena (Zierman) Diem. He was married to Loretta Czech.

He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Delano American Legion Post 377.

Mr. Diem was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta.

He is survived by niece, Bonnie (Gary) Gabrelcik and their children, Debbie (Brian) Peterson, Wendy (Jeff) Klehr, Dean, Terry and Diana Gabrelcik; great-great-nieces and nephews, Jacob, Katie, Tyler, Brooke, Samantha and Brandon; other nieces; nephews; brother-in-law; sister-in-law and many friends.

Henry M. Holmberg

Services for Henry M. Holmberg, 83, of Watertown are Monday, July 9, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Watertown.

Rev. Paul Kling and Rev. John Mulvihill will officiate and interment will be at the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Ft. Snelling Honor Guard.

Casket bearers will be Philip Olson, David Bennyhoff, Nathan Bennyhoff, Lloyd Holmberg, Ken Holmberg and Rodger Hansen.

Mr. Holmberg died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was born Feb. 5, 1918, in Superior, Wis., the son of David and Christina (Lycander) Holmberg.

He was a veteran of World War II, having proudly served his country as a sergeant with the 337th Infantry in North Africa, Italy and Germany.

He married Ruth M. Blomquist Nov. 8, 1946, at the Evangelical Free Church in Watertown. Mr. Holmberg began his married life in Watertown assisting in the Blomquist Funeral Home and Department Store and he also worked for the Green Giant canning factory. From 1957 to 1969 he owned and operated an A&W drive-in in Delano and until retirement in 1980, was employed as a postal clerk in Watertown and Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by wife, Ruth; parents, David and Christina Holmberg; 14 brothers and sisters; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Berner and Hanna Blomquist and brother-in-law, Gordon Bennyhoff.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Mary Lou Holmberg of Waconia; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Michael Galassi of Hurst, Texas, and Barbara and Gerald Olson of Bloomington; grandchildren, Philip Olson and Christina Olson; sister-in-law, Jeanette Bennyhoff of Mound; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Al Joslin

Services for Elvin LeRoy, (Al) Joslin of Ramsey were Saturday, June 30, 2001 at noon at Dare's Funeral Home in Elk River.

Pastor Jerry Smith officiated.

Mr. Joslin was born May 31, 1933, to William and Pansy (Maness) Joslin. He married Paula Joslin Dec. 12, 1953, in Remer.

He died Tuesday, June 26, 2001.

Mr. Joslin was employed at Iten Chevrolet, Brooklyn GMC, Harold Chevrolet and Suburban Chevrolet. He was self employed in Joslin Auto Sales.

He spent years enjoying snowmobiling and traveling with his wife and family. He spent many hours encouraging his sons in all their sporting activities. Mr. Joslin spent his life in the automotive industry and devoted the rest of his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. Grandpa will be remembered for is sense of humor, his love of his family being together, and of his fondness of a good bonfire.

He was preceded in death by parents, William and Pansy Joslin.

Survivors include wife, Paula Marie Joslin; sons, Michael, Dean (Sheila), Alan (Cheryl), Rick (Jeri) and Lynn (Amy); grandchildren, Michelle, Carrie, Steven, Jackie, Vicki, Andrew, Kelly, Taylor and Kacey, plus two yet unborn grandchildren; sister, Jean Joslin; and brother, Edwin (Betty) Joslin.

Memorials preferred.

Jason Krantz

Services for Jason P. Krantz, 29, of Maple Grove were Monday, July 2, 2001, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Medina.

Mr. Krantz died Thursday, June 28, 2001, having fought a courageous 16-month battle with cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by his family and special friends. The journey's end came with a fight from the bravest, most loving, generous son, brother, and friend who leaves us with heartfelt memories.

He was a 1990 graduate of Wayzata High School and also graduated from the University of Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Alex Krantz and Gladys (Leeta) Mullally.

Survivors include his parents, Jim and Kay Krantz; sisters, Lori (Tom) Broze, Lisa (Lee) Wagner, and Kelli (Tom) Adolph; brother, Jim (Andee) Krantz; grandmother, Hildur Krantz; nieces and nephews, Tate and Mandi Broze, Austin, Erik and Mason Adolph, and Emma Jane Wagner; aunts, uncles and cousins; best friend and soulmate Lori Eidem and canine buddy, Kalli.

Memorials preferred to UCSF Foundation c/o Jason Krantz Memorial Fund.

Ivar Lemmage

Services for Ivar L. Lemmage, 68, of Mission, Texas, and formerly of Rockford and Arlington, are Monday, July 9, at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Rockford.

Interment with military rites follow at the Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. Lemmage died Tuesday, July 3. He was preceded in death by parents Sam and Mamie; brothers Omar and Jerry; and by a sister Goldie.

He is survived by wife Roberta; a son Steven of Morro Bay, Calif.; a daughter Bambi (Dan) Singer and a granddaughter Kacie, all of Somerset, Wis.; brothers Kenneth, Darvis and Jack; and a sister June.

Ivar was the best friend you could have. He could do anything because he "knew stuff".
