Betty Adkins

Pat Adkins said he will remember his mother, Betty, the former state senator from St. Michael, as a representative of the people, not a politician representing one party.

Betty Adkins was a DFLer, but Pat Adkins said, "I don't think of her as a politician. She was a representative. She was a Democrat, but she didn't always vote for the Democrats. She voted for her conscience and for the people she represented in her area. I think she was recognized for it."

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Adkins, 67, of St. Michael died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, from the effects of Alzheimer's disease.

Prior to taking office, she was active in local politics as the Chairperson of the Wright County DFL Party from 1973 until 1982. She was also a deputy clerk for Otsego Township and a certified building inspector.

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a resident of St. Michael for more than 30 years.
