Martin Kuehl

Services for Martin Kuehl, 81, of Brooklyn Park were Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001 at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 34 Second St. N.E., Osseo.

Burial was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Kuehl died Thursday, Nov. 1, in Robbinsdale. He was born April 10, 1920 in Newton, Iowa.

He served in the United States Army Calvary and was employed by Honeywell for 32 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Champlin Legion Post 600 and VFW Post 494 in Crystal.

He was preceded in death by his son, Duane and parents, Walter and Ethel Kuehl.

Survivors include his wife Betty; brother, George Kuehl and wife Betty of Las Cruse, N.M.; children, Jean (Harry) Koelfgen, Larry (Diane) Kuehl, Lynn Merkwan, Darlene (Glen) Grambart, Bruce (Debbie) Stiller, David (Mary) Stiller and Ron (Lois) Stiller; 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Irene M. Lagerquist

Services for Irene M. Lagerquist, 79, of Anoka, formerly of Champlin, were Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at First Baptist Church of Anoka.

Rev. Abe Cardosa officiated.

Mrs. Lagerquist was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Lake Park to William and Stella R. (Kjos) Zachariason.

She is survived by daughter, Colleen Day of St. Paul; son, Paul (Chris) Lagerquist of Rogers; brother, Walter (Lyla) Zackariason of Lake Park; sisters, Vernette (Howard) Houle of Anoka and Shirley LeDoux of Alaska; grandchildren, Rochelle Day, Melissa (Matt) Loberg and Beth Herrgot; and great-grandchildren, Miranda Evans and Brooklyn Loberg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice.

Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal.

David Lunneborg

Services for David B. Lunneborg, 44, of Maple Grove, were Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Church of the Visitation, 45th and Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis.

Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Corcoran.

Mr. Lunneborg died Wednesday, Oct. 31, after an illness.

Survivors include his wife Sarah; children, Jennifer, Nicholas and Rachel; parents, Don and Donna; siblings Gary (Sharon), Gail Lunneborg, Michael (Patti), Sandy (Dave) Hartmann, Nancy (Chuck) Powell, Becky (Kurts) Strelnieks, Jim (Nancy) and Mary Lunneborg; grandmother, Marie Harves; 26 nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his dog, Snickers. David was a wonderful husband, father, beloved son, brother, godfather, uncle and extraordinary friend. He taught the true meaning of strength, friendship, love of family and love of life.

Memorials preferred to the children.

Earl Morse

Services for Earl J. Morse, 75, of Maple Grove were Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Morse was preceded in death by his son Earl Jr.; sister, Betty Hoosline.

Survivors include his wife, Ardell; daughters, Trudy Jackson (Scott) of South Bend, Ind., Arlene Fink (Allan) of Lakeville; two brothers, two sisters and five grandchildren.

Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.

Gloria Shaw

Gloria Jean Shaw, 56, of Maple Grove, formerly of Henning, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Oct. 31, 2001.

A memorial service was Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran church, 18500 County Rd. 101, Maple Grove.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Steven; children, Jennifer and Stephen; mother, Eves Nyhus; brothers, Rick Nyhus and Grant Nyhus; sister, Mary Humphrey; and many relatives and friends.

Charlotte Smith

Services for Charlotte (Penny) Smith, 73, of Maple Grove were Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, St. Louis Park.

Burial was in Trenton Cemetery, Hager City, Wis.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; sons, Donald J. of Florida, Charles W. of Bloomington and Thomas M. of Golden Valley; daughter, Teresa Jorgenson of Independence; sisters, Violet Stillson and Dorothy Mosely; sisters-in-law, Sr. Rose Cecile Smith, CSJ and Stella Clark; grandchildren, Stacy, Jason, Danny Christopher, Jeffrey, Elizabeth and Bridget; and one great-grandchild.

Phyllis M. Bolkcom

Services for Phyllis M. Bolkcom, 80, of Plymouth, formerly of Delano, are Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Delano.

Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Bolkcom is survived by sons, Daniel L. (Tanya), Neil and John; grandchildren, Richard (Katherine) and Jennifer Bolkcom; great-granddaughter, Victoria Bolkcom; and brother, James Brooks.

She was preceded in death by husband, Daniel G. Bolkcom.

Doris V. Birkholz Brockoff

Services for Doris V. Birkholz Brockoff, 87, of Cokato, were Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.

Pastor Michael Nirva officiated and interment was at St. James Cemetery.

Casket bearers were David Birkholz, Jonathan Birkholz, Brian Quast, Clayton J. Quast, Josh LaGrew and Daniel Radtke.

Mrs. Brockoff died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. She was born July 15, 1914 in rural Dassel, the daughter of Levine and Clara Benson Forsberg.

Mrs. Brockoff was baptized at Stockholm Lutheran Church in rural Cokato Aug. 8, 1914. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at Stockholm Lutheran Church April 28, 1929.

She was joined in marriage to Lenus Birkholz July 23, 1932 at her parents' home. Pastor Swan Johnson officiated at the wedding ceremony. The couple made their home on a farm in Victor Township and they had four children. Mr. Birkholz preceded his wife in death in 1989.

On April 16, 1983 she was joined in marriage to Elmer G. Brockoff at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Pastor Michael Nirva officiated at the wedding ceremony. Mrs. Brockoff was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. She was formerly employed for many years at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted and belonged to St. Mary's Auxiliary.

She is survived by husband, Elmer G. Brockoff of Cokato; children, Patricia (Clayton) Quast of Brainerd, Jane (Dale) Enwiller of Delano, Gary (Marilyn) Birkholz of Nokomis, Fla. and Berlyn (Elaine) Birkholz of Buffalo; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Fern (Ken) Lambert of Apple Valley and Adelle Stein of Minneapolis; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her first husband, Mrs. Brockoff was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Courtney Rath; parents; four brothers and three sisters.

Richard E. Griffith

Services for Richard Eugene Griffith, 67, of Champlin, were 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Anoka.

Griffin was born in 1934 in Utica, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and was honorably discharged as Airman, First Class. He graduated from Utica college in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He attended Syracuse College of Law from 1959 to 1960.

He worked for 20 years for FMC Corporation and was controller of the Northern Ordinance Division. He also was president of Llewellyn Inc., a management consulting firm in Minneapolis. Most recently, in his retirement, he was a substitute teacher for Anoka-Hennepin School District.

Griffin will be greatly missed by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn; his two sons, Richard (Nancy) and Reade (Elizabeth); brothers, Raymond and Michael; and granddaughter, Samantha.

Dale Hamer

Services for Dale Victor Hamer, 68, of Loretto, were Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, conducted by Rev. Brian Fier.

Mr. Hamer died at his residence Sunday, Oct. 28.

He was the son of Earle and Sylvia (Olson) Hamer and was born Dec. 5, 1932, in Minneapolis.

He was an avid fisherman. He loved football and was a woodworker. Mr. Hamer played Santa for years and years at the children's hospital. He was known for being "Patches the Clown" on television.

For 15 years he traveled with the Twins and Vikings as a personal chef. Another claim to fame is that he is in the Guiness Book of Records for staying awake for 275-and-one-half-hours or 11-and-one-half-days. He did this for the March of Dimes.

He is survived by his wife, Bev; three daughters, Lynn and William Young, Beth and Darren Arnold, and Karen and Dave Renneberg; five step-daughters, Bonnie, Jamie, Debbie, Denise and Vicki; 19 grandchildren; four brothers, Don, Richard, Larry and Jack; and three sisters, Elaine, Joan and Darlene.

Ardis Lorentz

Funeral services for Ardis Lorentz were Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, First Presbyterian Church of Howard Lake. Pallbearers were her sons and daughters. Interment was in the Howard Lake Cemetery.

Ardis Jane Lorentz was born to Samuel and Minnie (Sexton) Hess on February 4, 1913, in Victor Township, rural Howard Lake. She passed away on Oct. 29, 2001 at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 25 days.

She attended "Old District 66" in Howard Lake, graduating in 1931. Following graduation, she attended Cokato Teacher's Training (Normal School) in 1932. She taught in Meeker and Wright county schools for five and one half years.

Ardis married Clarence August Lorentz from rural Annandale, on July 21, 1937. Their marriage was blessed with 13 children. Ardis is survived by her children: David (Jean) of Rogers, Rose (Richard) Barberg of Howard Lake, Dale (Agnes) of Waverly, Albert (Marlene) of Howard Lake, Eva (Royal) Moulton of St. Paul, Eugene (Terry) of Howard Lake, Joyce (Herbert) Smith of Maple Lake, Sue (John) Tapio of Hutchinson, Leo of Glencoe, Shirley (Martin) Javurek of Pierre, South Dakota, Michael (Cher) of Montrose, Trudy (Kelly) Clausen of Indianapolis, Indiana, 44 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, sisters Ruth Gruenhagen and Eva (Garland) Hintz of Howard Lake, brother in law Art Lorentz of Buffalo, sisters in law Esther Lorentz of Howard Lake and Ruth Lorentz of Annandale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Minnie Hess, husband, Clarence, infant daughter, Mary Jane, brother Edward Hess and sister Alice (Roy) Bakeberg.

Ardis was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Howard Lake.

When Clarence suffered a stroke in 1967, Ardis became the source of strength and determination both Clarence and other family members needed. She cared for Clarence at home for 25 years until his death April 2,1992.

Paul Riley

Services for Paul John Riley, 74, of Monticello were Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Ben Van Cleve, Chris Riley, Art Uttech, Bill Miller, Rick Flicek, Fuahau Latu, Brandon Maier and Dave Krones served as casket bearers.

Rev. Leonard Siebenaler was the celebrant and interment followed at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with military rites.

Mr. Riley died peacefully at home Oct. 25 after a yearlong fight with cancer. He was born in Minneapolis in 1927. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Hawaii, where he met his wife, Ellen.

Retired following 30-plus years from Milwaukee Railroad Police. Mr. Riley was a lifelong horseman and member of WSCA.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ellen. He is survived by sons, Patrick Riley of St. Michael and Michael Riley of Elk River; daughters, Colleen Riley of Corcoran, Ellen Miller (Ron) of Elk River and Dixie Lee Latu Riley (Fuahau Latu) of Brooklyn Park; sisters, Margaret (John) Millet of Eden Prairie and Katherine MacDiarmid of Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren, Ron and Paul Miller, Alison Maier and Chris Riley, Andrew and Matt Riley, and Mary Jane, Sifa, Fredrina, Helemina and Phillip Latu; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Alex Riley; many nieces, nephews, cousins and horse friends in Minnesota, Colorado, Arizona and Hawaii.

Lloyd Seth

Services for Lloyd (Ed) Seth, 77, of Maple Grove will be Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Evans Nordby Funeral Home, 34 Second St. N.E., Osseo.

Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Mr. Seth was preceded in death by his son, Gerald.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; children, Steve (Julie), Wally (Vivien) and LaDena (Bill) Ramsay; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Jones and Jean Seiler; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Russell Wasser

Services for Russell E. Wasser, 87, of Maple Grove were Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel in New Hope.

Burial was in Glen Flora Lutheran Cemetery, Glen Flora, Wis.

Mr. Wasser died Wednesday, Oct. 24. He was a retired city of Minneapolis police officer and World War II Veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ingrid; son, Leonard (Juanita) of Fresno, Calif.; daughters, Diane (Mark) Montgomery of Garland, Texas, and Barbara (Daniel) Larson of Savage; grandchildren, Eric and Kristen Wasser, Heidi, Steven, Timothy, Joseph, Sarah and Andrew Larson; and many loving relatives and friends.

Agnes Adickes

Services for Agnes Adickes, 83, of Montrose, were Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly.

Rev. Robert Wiley officiated and interment was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Mortensen, Curt Schmidt, Jerid Adickes, Robert Vojta, Steve Maslowski and Tom Maslowski.

Mrs. Adickes died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo. She was born Aug. 3, 1918 in Loretto, the daughter of James and Cosie (Van Lith) Wichterman.

She was united in marriage to John Adickes in Robbinsdale Oct. 21, 1939. The couple had four children and Mr. and Mrs. Adickes farmed near Montrose until their retirement in 1974. Mrs. Adickes also worked for Carlson Company for approximately eight years.

She enjoyed her family, gardening, sewing, reading, bingo, parades, music and dancing. Two of her greatest joys were playing cards and putting puzzles together. Mrs. Adickes was teased because the dishes were barely dry after a meal and she had a deck of cards in her hands. Even during her years at Park View Care Center a puzzle was always waiting for her attention.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband, John; grandson, Daniel Mortensen; son-in-law, John Schmidt; brothers, Leon and Neil Wichterman and sister, Betty Krenn.

She is survived by daughters, Jeanette Schmidt of Buffalo and Jane (Orville) Mortensen of Montrose; sons, John Adickes and Joseph (Lori) Adickes of Montrose; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Catherine Vojta and Ceil (Robert) Maslowski; brother, Joe (Lollie) Wichterman; sisters-in-law, Helen Matter, Eleanor (Ramigio) Raumer and Arlene Wichterman and brother-in-law, Robert Krenn.
