Bryce Blomquist

Services for Bryce J. Blomquist, 40, of Eden Prairie, were Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eden Prairie

Interment was in Eden Prairie Cemetery.

Mr. Blomquist passed away suddenly on Oct. 16, 2001. He was a member of his best friend's group "The Flyers". He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, children, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Rudolph and Bertha Blomquist; brother-in-law Bruce Ueland.

He is survived by wife, Renae; daughters, Brittany, 8, and Mallory, 5; parents, Dale and Gloria Blomquist of Minnetonka.; brother and sister-in-law, Reed and Debbie Blomquist of Plymouth; brother, Ryan Blomquist of Maple Grove; sister and brother-in-law, Juli and Manuel Euglander of Deephaven; grandparents, Ivan and Linnea Mackey of Ashland, Wis.; mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Sharon Sconberg of Chaska; brother-in-law, Rick Sconberg and wife, Zeny of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Rhonda Ueland of Shakopee; sister-in-law, Roxanne WongDock and husband, Charlie; nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Brittany & Mallory Education Fund.

Maurice Carland

Services for Maurice W. Carland, 86, of Osseo were Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Brooklyn Park.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Carland died Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Osseo. He was born May 8, 1915 in Dayton.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bernadine; children and spouses Phillip (Linda), Mary Beth, Beverly (Rick), Steven (Joanne), Paulette (Bob), Patricia (Jodi); nine grandchildren; one great grandson; brother, sisters and other relatives and friends.

Memorials preferred.

Jolene Davis

Services for Jolene Kay Davis, 51, of Maple Grove were Saturday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka, with Pastor Kari L. Bahe officiating.

Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis died Wednesday, Oct. 17, at North Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Cherokee, Iowa, on Aug. 15, 1950. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor of arts degree English. She married Steven Davis on Nov. 27, 1971. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sports, coaching girls basketball, working, gardening, reading, music, her dogs, and just being with her family.

Mrs. Davis is survived by husband, Steve; daughter, Sarah; son, Justin; mother, Fern Mueller; brothers, Marlin (Bernice) Mueller, and Myron Mueller; mother-in-law, Lesty Davis; brothers-in-law, William (Laura) Davis, Garry (Suzanne) Davis, and Scott (Cindy) Davis; many nieces and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Darrell Mueller and father-in-law, Eddy Davis.

Catherine Fecht

Services for Catherine S. Fecht, 71, of St. Paul, were Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Luke, St. Paul.

Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Fecht died Monday, Oct. 22.

She was preceded in death by husband, William and son, William Jr.

Survivors include daughters, Gretchen Fecht of Maple Grove, Kate Fecht of Mendota Heights; son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. Laura of South St. Paul; grandchildren, Thomas, Andrew, Martha and Stephanie; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Mary Beth Schreiner of Westchester, Penn..; sister-in-law, Gloria Ames of St. Paul; also many nieces and nephews.

Memorials preferred to St. Joseph Academy Scholarship Fund or Hospice of the Lakes.

Gerald Gmach

Services for Gerald Raymond Gmach, loving father, husband, grandfather and friend, were Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St. Walburga's Catholic Church in Fletcher.

He was born Dec. 5, 1914, and died Sunday, Oct. 21. He was born in Rogers to Math and Magdelina Gmach. He attended St. Walburga Catholic Church from childhood on. Her married Merriam Milless in 1942 and had four sons, Steve, John, Dan and Robert.

He and his family lived their life on their farm in Rogers. After the death of his first wife, he then married Erika Rabe. He lived a long and fruitful life with many family members and friends always by his side.

He was preceded in death by wife, Merriam Gmach; and wife, Erika Rabe Gmach. He is survived by brothers, Leo (Lillian) and Jerome (Ferdella); by his children, Steve (MaryAnn), John (Mary Lin), Dan (Cindy) and Robert (Mary); stepchildren, Gene (Kathleen) Rabe, Mike (Debbie) Rabe, Judy (Dan) Schirmers and Mark (Sonia) Rabe; grandchildren, Chris, Kelly, Sara, Jaime (Jeff) Rhodes, Missy (Curt) Mann, Jessi, Greg, Amy, Rachel and Joel Gmach, and Bryan, Chad, Brooke, Chelsea, Tyler and Clayton Rabe.

Lynn A. Gray

Services for Lynn A. Gray, 41, of Champlin, were Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home in Osseo.

She was born March 9, 1960, in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her husband, Alan; son, Michael Wadsen of Champlin; mother, Gwen Hagen of Fridley; brother, Allen Dallmann and his family, Tawna and Tasha, of Maryland; sister and brother-in-law, Cindie and Mark Hill and their family, Melissa, Kaycie and Cameron of Weirton, W. Va.

She was preceded in death by her father, Curt Hagen; and nephew, Eric Dallmann.

Memorials may be given to the Lynn A. Gray Memorial Fund.

Arrangements were handled by Evans-Nordby Funeral Home of Osseo.

Ruth Gustafson

Services for Ruth Marie Gustafson, 74, of rural Buffalo were Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Hanover Zion United Methodist Church.

Rev. Barbara Moore and Rev. Delburn Kurtz officiated and interment followed at Swedish Mission Cemetery in Buffalo.

Alfred Nott was the vocalist for the funeral service and he sang "One Day at a Time, Sweet Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art." "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "In the Garden" were sung as congregational hymns.

Ruth's nephews and nephews-in-law, Leander Wetter Jr., Ronald Wetter, Dan Koester, Steve Conwell, Craig Wokson and Gary Ness served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Gustafson died Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Park View Care Center.

She was born June 16, 1927, in Hanover the daughter of Richard and Marie Strehler Mahler.

She was raised in the Christian faith and confirmed at the Hanover Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1941.

Mrs. Gustafson graduated from Buffalo High School in 1945.

After graduation and prior to her marriage she worked at Sears Roebuck in Minneapolis for five years.

On Sept. 20, 1951, Ruth Mahler was joined in holy marriage to Byron C. Gustafson at The Evangelical United Brethren Church in Corcoran. God blessed their marriage with two children.

Mr. and Mrs. Gustafson engaged in dairy farming east of Buffalo for many years. She was an active partner in the farm operation from the field work and crops to the raising and care of the farm livestock. Spring lambs, baby calves, and chickens were some of her favorites. For many years she sold eggs and helped her children raise thousands of chickens for sale and for the table.

Homemaking was also important to her. She enjoyed raising and preserving many fruits and vegetables from her bounteous gardens. In addition, she enjoyed baking, and her yeast buns were a family favorite.

She was a life-long member of Hanover Zion United Methodist Church and belonged to its HUM circle as well as to the rural Buffalo Neighborhood Social Circle. She also formerly belonged to the Wright County Home Extension and to Wright County Rural Youth.

Mrs. Gustafason is survived by her husband, Byron C. Gustafson of Buffalo; children, Bryon D. Gustafson and Claire M. (Raymond) Saatela all of Plymouth; grandchildren, Jared and Erin Saatela; a brother, Donald (Lois) Mahler of Hanover; a sister, Nadine Wokson of Rogers; a sister-in-law, Bernice Wetter of Buffalo; nephews and nieces, Leander (Mary) Wetter Jr. of Buffalo, Ronald (Carrie) Wetter of Princeton, Karen (Dan) Koester of Dennison, Marion (Steve) Conwell and Craig (Janis) Wokson all of St. Michael and Gail (Gary) Ness of Woodstock; grand nephews, grand nieces, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Marie Mahler; brothers-in-law, Leander Wetter Sr. and Charles Wokson and by a nephew, Gary Wokson.

Duane Johnson

Services for Duane C. Johnson, 76, of Maple Grove were Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at the Church of St. Raphael, 7301 Bass Lake Rd., Crystal.

Interment was in Crystal Lake Cemetery.

He was a 37-year employee of Northwestern Bell.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by wife, Phyllis Johnson.

He is survived by wife, Carol; children, Steven and wife Nancy, LeAnn Grachek and husband Dean, and Paul Johnson; brother, Gene Johnson; stepchildren, William Hogrefe and wife Lisa, John and Paul Hogrefe; eight grandchildren.

Loren Holmes

A memorial services for Loren Dale Holmes of Beaverville, Ill. will be Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001 at 3 p.m. at Maple Ridge Church, 8450 Elm Creek Blvd., Maple Grove.

Mr. Holmes died Sunday, Oct. 21. He was born Dec. 9, 1959 in Minneapolis, the son of Smiley and Eunice Holmes of Brooklyn Park.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 27, at Watseka, Ill. with interment at Beaerville, Ill.

Stanley O. Lien

Services for Stanley O. Lien, Sr., 75, of Champlin, were Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at Mill Pond Gables in Champlin.

Rev. Adrian Sundberg officiated.

Mr. Lien was born May 31, 1926, in Tamarack. He worked as a machinist at Litton Industries.

He was survived by two sons, Stan Jr. (Debbie) and Mike; and grandchildren, Jessica, Cameron, Megan, Danyse, Shawn and Matthew.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna M. (Asker), and son, George.

Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka handled arrangements.

Mary Malley

Services for Mary L. Malley, 61, of Rogers were Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at noon at Living Waters Church in Elk River.

She died Oct. 24 following a 10-year struggle with diabetes and other health complications.

She was born in Sommerville, Mass., the third youngest of 22 children.

She is survived by son, Brian (Lisa) of Starbuck; and daughters, Sharon (Roland) Rust of Ramsey, Susan of Duluth and Cheryl of Plymouth; many brothers and sisters and several other relatives and friends.

Earl Morse

Services for Earl J. Morse, 75, of Maple Grove will be Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Brooklyn Park.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Morse died Sunday, Oct. 28, in Minneapolis.

He was born March 15, 1926 in Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his son, Earl Morse Jr.

Survivors include his wife Ardell; daughters and sons-in-law, Trudy (Scott) Jackson of South Bend, Ind. and Arlene (Allan) Fink of Lakeville; two brothers, three sisters and five grandchildren.

Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.

Marvin Scherber

Double funeral services for Marvin Scherber, of Monticello, who died Thursday Oct. 18, 2001, and his wife, Sarah A. Scherber, 84, of Monticello, who died Saturday morning Oct. 20, 2001, were Monday Oct. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church of Monticello with Rev. Tim Rudolphi officiating.

Mr. Scherber died at the Park View Care Center of Buffalo.

He was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Rogers, to Prosper and Marguerite (Greninger) Scherber. He grew up in the Hassan Township area near Rogers. He was united in marriage to Sarah Gutzwiller in 1940. For many years, he farmed with his brother in Hassan Township, before moving to the Monticello area to farm in 1950.

He is survived by sons, Patrick (Connie) Scherber of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Michael (Nancy) Scherber of Monticello; sister, Mavis Elsen, of Robbinsdale; and five grandchildren.

Sarah Scherber

Double funeral services for Sarah A. Scherber, 84, of Monticello, who died Saturday morning Oct. 20, 2001, and her husband, Marvin Scherber, who died Thursday Oct. 18, 2001, were Monday Oct. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church of Monticello with Rev. Tim Rudolphi officiating.

Mrs. Scherber died at the Monticello-Big Lake Nursing Home of Monticello.

She was born Dec. 13, l917, in St. Michael to Isadore and Lena (Zachman) Gutzwiller. She was married to Marvin Scherber in 1940. The couple farmed most of their lives and had made their home in the Monticello area since 1950.

She is survived by her sons, Patrick; (Connie) Scherber of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Michael (Nancy) Scherber of Monticello; five grandchildren; three sisters, Sally Ronning of St. Michael, Mercedes Hickler of Monticello and Merelda Brandon of Monticello; and brother, Hermes Gutzwiller of St. Michael.
