Evelyn E. Libor

Services for Evelyn E. Libor, 87, of Delano, were Saturday, Jan. 6, 2002, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Delano.

Rev. Michael Miller officiated and interment was in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Loretto.

Pallbearers were Pat Wagner, Gery Wagner, John Meyer, John Boerger, David Meyer and Steve Egan.

Mrs. Libor died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at the Delano Healthcare Center. She was born April 7, 1914, in Loretto, the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Heinzen) Wagner. She was married to Benjamin Martin Libor.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ben. She is survived by son, Woodrow and daughter-in-law, Gloria of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Gervase and Betty Wagner of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; sisters, Virginia Reimer of Loretto, Mae Van Lith of Pasadena, Calif. and Frances Egan of Omaha, Neb.; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ricky Ray Remund

Services for Ricky Ray Remund, 42, were Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Wilmot Lutheran Church in Wilmot, S.D.

Pastor Clare Wadsworth officiated and interment was in the Wilmot Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael and Eric Warren, Brandon, Lance and Tony Remund, Patrick Zenk and Chris Young.

Visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Iten Funeral Home in Delano. A prayer service took place with Pastor Paul Krentz of Watertown officiating.

Mr. Remund was born July 24, 1959, in Milbank, S.D., to Norma and Donald Remund. He was the youngest of five children.

He was a manager for Tradehome Shoe Co. in Watertown, S.D., and in Pierre, S.D. He married Twila Ellwanger of Pierre June 7, 1985. They resided in Pierre and Spearfish, S.D., where they owned and operated the Watershed Store. In 1991, he moved with his wife and family to the Minneapolis area where he accepted a position as a sales representative with the Combine Insurance Co. For the past eight years, Mr. Remund was employed at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake as a technical specialist.

He is survived and sadly missed by wife, Twila; daughters, Brandi, Bridget, Britney and Brooke; parents, Donald and Norma Remund of Wilmot, S.D.; sisters, Betty (Bruce) Zenk of Burnsville and Luanne (Larry) Warren of Clark, S.D.; brothers, Jerry (Mavis) Remund of Pipestone and Lonny (Norine) Remund of Woodbury and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins throughout Minnesota and South Dakota.

Ellsworth Roy

Services for Ellsworth Adam Roy, 82, of Lindsay, Okla., and formerly of Hamel were Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Oklahoma.

Rev. William B. Ross officiated. Casket bearers were Vernon McCaslin, Charlie Wadley, Ken Miller, Roger Woodruff, Kenneth Miller and Jim Lyon. Honorary bearers were Lee Thorp and Gerald England. Interment was at Greenhill Cemetery in Lindsay, Okla.

Mr. Roy was born March 27, 1919, to Joseph and Clara Darsow Roy in Hennepin County. He died Dec. 12, 2001 at the Purcell Municipal Hospital.

He lived in Oklahoma since 1996 coming from Apache Junction, Ariz. He was raised and attended school at Hamel. He was the first child born to Joseph and Clara Roy, his mother passed away when he was nine years old. His father later married Florence known as "Tootsie" who continued to raise him.

Mr. Roy was inducted into the U.S. Army May 21, 1942, at Fort Snelling. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal Dec. 23, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisc.

He owned and operated E.A. Roy Construction at Hamel. In 1993, he and Bonnie Miller were united in marriage in Old Mexico. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the Carpenters Union in Minnesota. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing cards, sightseeing and he was an avid golfer. Mr. Roy was a member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church at Hamel.

Mr. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, daughter, Carol Roy Lefler, and his first wife, LaVerne Roehl Roy.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Roy of Lindsay; son, Ronald Roy and wife, Sharon of Minnesota; daughters, Diane Roy Etzel and husband Greg, Darlene Roy Yager and husband Brian and Debbie Roy Hunz and husband Shawn, all of Minnesota; step-sons, Ken Miller and wife Geraldine of Lindsay and Kenneth Miller and wife Leah of Krebs, Okla.; brother, Rayburn Roy and wife Elaine of Hamel; sister, Clarine Roy Eull and husband Earl of Elk River; grandchildren, Laurie, Toni, Nicki, Amy, Stephanie, Charla, Jena, Justin, Jackie, Emily, Molly, Matthew and Andrew; step-grandchildren, Monica, Gerald, Randy, Tamatha, Lacey and baby Ken, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Robert R. Saukkola

Services for Robert R. Saukkola, 73, of Albertville and formerly of Minneapolis were Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at noon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.

Rev. Paul Settergren and Rev. Rachael Christiansen officiated and interment with military rites followed at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Saukkola was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Kingston and died Dec. 25 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army's Sixteenth Signal Corps during the Korean War. His dates of service were Feb. 12, 1951, until Jan. 24, 1957.

On Oct. 17, 1953, Mr. Saukkola was joined in holy marriage to Lorraine Carlson at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church in N.E. Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.

Mr. Saukkola was a former longtime driver for the MTC through the years. He also farmed near Kingston, was a supervisor at Western Mineral and was a maintenance engineer at Charley's Cafe Exceptional.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover, Teamsters Local 32 and Clarence Belle VFW Post 217.

Mr. Saukkola was a man that always offered his assistance to anyone in need of a helping hand and was known to have "a gift to gab." He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, golfing (especially at The Carefree Country Club in Big Lake) and saunas.

He is survived by wife, Lorraine; daughters, Laura (Allen) Jensen of Zimmerman, Barbara (Donald) Hukriede of St. Michael; grandchildren, Matthew, Allison and Luke Jensen and Kaitlyn Hukreide; sisters and a brother, Mary Hokkanen of Annandale, Evelyn (John) Dorn of Albertville, George (Helen) Saukkola of Kimball and Verna (Donald) Dahnke of South Haven; a sister-in-law, Kathleen (Donald) Schwartz of N.E. Minneapolis; many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors.]

He is preceded in death by his parents and by six sisters and brothers, Helen, Mabel, John, Eva, Karl and Arthur.

Janice Theien

Services for Janice "Jan" Theien, 51, of Rogers, were Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Osseo United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Theien was born May 18, 1950, in New Ulm. She died Dec. 25 in Robbinsdale.

She is survived by husband, Norman; children, Sarah Amundson of Maple Grove and Katie Amundson of Osseo; step-children, Michael of Norfolk, Va., Marty of St. Michael and Melissa Pohl of Monticello; brothers, Jerry (Jake) of Glenwood and Jon of Maple Grove; and mother, Alice Sorenson of Osseo.

She is preceded in death by her father, Gordon Sorenson.

Mrs. Theien was a member of Osseo United Methodist Church. She worked as a travel advisor.

If so desired, memorials are preferred to the Jan. M. Theien Memorial Fund.

Lester Thurs

Services for Lester E. Thurs, 80, of Brooklyn Center were Saturday at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Center, with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.

Mr. Thurs was a long-time volunteer and past president of Brooklyn Center American Little League.

He is survived by children, Kathy (Denny) Closson of Denver, Kevin of Champlin, Suzanne (Mike) Lunemann of Champlin, and Renee Wolff of Brooklyn Park; brother, Elroy; sister, Elaine; grandchildren, Katie, Nikki, Jennifer and Zachary; and many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine.

Michael Tracy

Services for Michael F. Tracy, 79, of Bloomington were Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at the Church of the Nativity of Mary.

Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Tracy was a veteran of WWII and a retired sales manager from Southside Lumber in Rogers.

He is survived by loving wife of 47 years, Laraine; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kris of Lake Elmo; two grandchildren, Sarah Laraine and Michael James; two sisters, Marian Dunphy of Deephaven and Marjorie (Robert) Ward of Maple Grove; and brother, James (Rosemary) Tracy of Cold Spring; also many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials preferred to Nativity of Mary Church Endowment Fund.

John Henry Underdahl

Services for John Henry Underdahl, 56, of Independence were Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake.

Rev. Steve Mellander officiated. Pallbearers were Dave Sohn, Jeff Brown, Lisa Chrest, Lindsey Storm, Dave Lundquist and Jake Dombrovski. Honorary pallbearers were Jim and Lee Whitehead.

Mr. Underdahl died at his residence from cancer Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001. He was born Dec. 26, 1944, in Mankato, the son of Ivan T. and Mildred (Footh) Underdahl. He was married to Sherry Johnson.

Mr. Underdahl graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1962 and was a graduate of the University of Mankato. In the early 1980s, he developed a pioneering computer program. He was a well-respected teacher of life for more than 30 years at Orono High School. He retired in 2000. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He could also handle most puzzles. He loved to tinker, mow the lawn and loved a challenge as well as challenging others. Above all he was a family man who loved his children and delighted in his grandchildren as well as the others in his family.

He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Angel, and brother, Milton. He is survived by loving wife, Sherry; sons, Lane (Kathy) Underdahl, Wade Underdahl and Gage (Julie) Underdahl; daughter, Shanna and special friend, Jake; grandchildren, Nathan and Mitchell; parents, Ivan and Mildred Underdahl and sister, Jan (Dave) Lundquist.

Lawrence J. Weiland

Services for Lawrence J. Weiland, 87, of Mound were Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius.

Fr. James Livingston officiated and interment was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in St. Bonifacius.

Casket bearers were Tim Jessen, Chad Weiland, Jeremy Jessen, Eric Jessen, Ryan Weiland and Kenneth Weiland.

Mr. Weiland died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. He was born Sept. 7, 1914, in Minnetrista Township, the son of Andrew and Emma (Kramer) Weiland. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He married Verna M. Ebert May 15, 1945, at St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Mr. Weiland was a World War II veteran and belonged to the James Weiland American Legion Post in St. Bonifacius. Legion members stood guard and held military graveside services for Mr. Weiland.

He farmed his entire lifetime on the Weiland homestead. Mr. Weiland was called "Bing" for his nickname. He was a dedicated husband, dad and grandpa. He was loved by all who knew him as he had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to play practical jokes. He was a member of the St. Bonifacius Catholic Aid Society.

Mr. Weiland was preceded in death by daughters, Carol Ann Weiland and Diane Bernice Weiland; parents, Andrew and Emma Weiland; sister, Emma Weiland and brothers, Andrew, Henry, Peter, James, Walter and Albert Weiland.

He is survived by wife, Verna; children and spouses, Lawrence and Judy Weiland of Tuscon, Ariz., Rose and Jim Jessen of Mound, Bill and Meredith Weiland of Watertown, Joe and Darlene Weiland of Mound and Laurie Priebe of St. Bonifacius; grandchildren, Michelle and Scott Melichar, Tim Jessen, Chad Weiland, Jennifer Jessen, Jeremy Jessen, Eric Jessen, Lisa and Joe Gesinger, Amy Weiland and fiancé, Brian Yale, Sara Weiland, Ryan Weiland, Mercedes Priebe and Akasha Priebe; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Francis Salden of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vernice Weiland of Waconia, Bernice Weiland of St. Bonifacius, Virginia Weiland of Waconia, Betty Weiland of Coos Bay, Ore., Bernice and Bill Volkenant of Maple Plain, Elaine Stelten of Chaska, Muriel and Clarence Wickenhauser of Cologne, Leonore and Gilbert Walter of Cologne, Lloyd and Ruth Ebert of Watertown and Kathy Ebert of Delano; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Donald Bebeau

Services for Donald Oliver Bebeau, 85, of Rogers were Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Rogers.

Burial was in St. Walburga Cemetery in Fletcher.

Mr. Bebeau died Monday, Dec. 10 in Rogers. He was born Feb. 1, 1916.

He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence.

Survivors include his wife, Laurencie; sons, Gary, David (Linda), Steven, Bruce (Deborah), Brian (Mary), and Mike (Carla); grandchildren, Geoff, Aimee, Jason, Jeremy, Ben, Andy, Josh, Chris, Chad, Edward, Franklin, Kelly, Jo, Sara, Angela, Jacob, Jonathan, Tammy and Todd; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Caroline) and Jim; sister-in-law Eileen Bebeau also many friends and relatives.

Mary Carriere

Services for Mary A. Carriere, 88, of New Hope, formerly of Maple Grove, were Monday, Dec. 10, 2001 at Washburn McReavy Swanson Chapel, Minneapolis.

Private interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Mrs. Carriere died Thursday, Dec. 6.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hurley Carriere and sister, Margaret Appert.

Survivors include her daughter Nancy (Dick) Swenberger; grandchildren, Rick Buelow, Chris (Renee) Buelow, Tim (Jill) Buelow, and Kelly Swenberger; great-grandchildren, Holly, Hilary, Ryan, Rachel, Ashley and Camryn Buelow; sister, Catherine Dvorak; nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Alex Chudyk

Services for Alex Chudyk, 87, of Osseo were Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park.

Private family internment.

Mr. Chudyk died Wednesday, Dec. 5. He was born on the Fourth of July 1914 and was a "firecracker" until the end.

Mr. Chudyk was a Michigan Tech graduate, worked at Honeywell as an aerospace engineer on many projects including the Apollo projects in Minneapolis and Clearwater, Fla. He was a district deputy and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus and was active in United Way corporate campaigns.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Alice.

Survivors include children, Ellen (Ron) Sullivan, Lexie (Dick) Kastner, Peg Germundsen, Bette (Bob) Behlke, Nancy Chudyk and Alex (Karen) Chudyk; grandchildren, Kristen (David) Ziemer, Sara Kastner, Joe Kastner, Delaney Sullivan, Miel Behlke and Corey Alexander Behlke; and great granddaughter, Hailey Alice.

Russell Cronk

Services for Russell A. Cronk, 91, of Buffalo, were Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Pastor Dennis Kolbrek officiated and interment was in Lakeview Cemetery.

Mr. Cronk died Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Ebenezer Covenant Home. He was born Sept. 14, 1910, in Buffalo the son of Arthur W. and Margaret W. Zeitelhack Cronk.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated a resort on Lake Constance for many years. He also was a handyman.

Mr. Cronk was joined in marriage to Edna Wagner Hahnke Aug. 25, 1970, in Truman. Mrs. Cronk preceded her husband in death Jan. 16, 1995.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cronk was preceded in death by parents; brother, John Cronk and sister, Charlotte Rosenberg.

Mr. Cronk is survived by step-daughter, Jean (Don) Sawatzke of Buffalo; nephew, Jim (Kathy) Cronk of Mesa, Ariz.; niece, Barbara (David) Dalluge of Maple Grove; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
