Cletus Vetsch

Services for Cletus A. Vetsch, 78, of rural Monticello were Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Albert in Albertville.

Rev. Peter Richards was the celebrant and Alexis Roden was the organist.

Casket bearers were Dan Brabec, Randy Horsch, Jeff Lenz, Andrew Vetsch, Scott Brabec and Bernie Lueck.

Interment followed at St. Albert Cemetery.

Mr. Vetsch died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at his residence. He was born in Albertville Aug. 31, 1923, the son of Jacob and Regina Barthel Vetsch.

On July 21, 1948, Cletus Vetsch was joined in holy marriage to Delphine Kasper at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with 10 children. The couple engaged in dairy farming for many years north of Albertville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Regina Vetsch; a daughter, Annette; son, Allen; and brothers, Harold, Alvin and Arnold Vetsch.

Survivors include his loving wife, Delphine Vetsch; children, Ron Vetsch of Maple Grove, Dorothy (Ed) Brabec of Howard Lake, Betty (Phil) Horsch of Monticello, Patty (Gary) Lenz of Albertville, Loren (Kristin) Vetsch of Browerville, Mark Vetsch of Monticello, Marvin (Brenda) Vetsch of Winsted and Keith Vetsch of Monticello; 17 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Bernadette Barthel, Ammon (Mary) Vetsch and Anita Roden all of St. Michael, Beatrice (Ed) Doroff and Eugene (Barbara) Vetsch all of Little Falls; sisters-in-law, Bernice Vetsch, Gerry Vetsch and Berna Vetsch; many other relatives and friends.

Joseph C. Vetsch

Services for Joseph C. Vetsch, 67, of St. Michael were Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael.

Rev. Leonard Siebenaler was the celebrant and interment followed with military rites at St. Michael Cemetery.

Gail Blake was the reader for the Mass and his grandchildren served as honorary casket bearers.

Tom Valerius, Jason Vetsch, Chad Rowland, Paul Kemmetmueller, Rick Block and John Vetsch served as casket bearers.

Mr. Vetsch died Sunday, Dec. 2, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

He was born in Albertville on March 19, 1934, the son of William and Antonia Vetsch.

Joe honorably served his country in the United States Army.

Joseph C. Vetsch and Marilyn Ann Illies were joined in holy marriage April 25, 1959 at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with seven children. Marilyn Vetsch preceded her husband in death on July 25, 1994.

Mr. Vetsch was a faithful, life-long member of The Church of St. Michael. He also belonged to American Legion Post 567 and to the Catholic Order of Foresters. He served for 18 years as Frankfort Township's building inspector.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Vetsch was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ralph and Lloyd.

Survivors include children and spouses, Donna (Tim) Block of Brooklyn Park, Barbara (Jim) Branson of Buffalo, Janice (Joe) Holthaus of Monticello, Jackie (Mitch) Gleeman of Minnetonka, Joe (Tracy) Vetsch of St. Michael, Jim (Kristi) Vetsch of Coon Rapids and Brenda (Jim) Munsterteiger of Buffalo; grandchildren: Ricky, Jenny and Doug Block; Tony and Kimberly Branson; Melanie and Angela Holthaus; Marissa and Bradley Gleeman; John and Nichole Vetsch; Tiffany, Justin and Derek Vetsch; Gabriella, Sabrina and Jack Munsterteiger; brothers and sisters: Donald Vetsch of Albertville, Kenneth (Millie) Vetsch of Monticello, Orville (Marlene) Vetsch of St. Michael, Willard Vetsch of Loretto, Anna Mae (Gilbert) Valerius of Osseo, Earl (Joan) Vetsch and Fred (Alice) Vetsch all of St. Michael, Nona (Lyle) Lindenfelser of Elk River and Dianne (Duane) Kemmetmueller of Rogers; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

John Aalderks

A memorial service for John Aalderks, 69, of Osakis was Saturday, June 1, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Chapel in Osakis with Rev. Larry Pearson officiating.

Music was provided by soloist, Elaine Kingston, accompanied by Marlene Pearson.

Mr. Aalderks died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 21, at the University Hospital, Minneapolis.

He was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Renville to Raymond and Inez (Kellum) Aalderks. He was a graduate of Renville High School. His first work was as an apprentice lineman. On Nov. 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to Wilma Howell in St. Paul.

Mr. Aalderks served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War then returned to the Twin Cities and worked for NSP until his retirement. He was material coordinator for the Substation and Engineering Construction Department. He retired in 1987. He spent 10 years working for the Minneapolis Auto Auction in Maple Grove. In the fall of 1994, the he and his wife purchased property on Lake Osakis and have lived there for the last four years. They also wintered in Arizona for several years.

He was a member of the Leslie Community Church and had belonged to the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union) during his early years with NSP.

During his free time he enjoyed working in his yard or in the garage. He especially enjoyed summer fishing and many kinds of outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Terri Seiwert.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Wilma Aalderks of Osakis; sons, Gary (Nicki) Aalderks of Crystal, Keith (fiancé Sarah Bennett) Aalderks of Albertville; five grandchildren and five extended grandchildren; brother, Larry (Linda) Aalderks of Hutchinson; sister, Joan (David) Therriault of Stillwater; many nieces and nephews.

Michelle Baier

Services for Michelle Baier, 7, were Friday, May 31, 2002, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Henry Catholic Church of Monticello.

Interment was at Riverside Cemetery.

Michelle died Monday, May 27, following complications from cancer.

Survivors include her parents, Jerome and Renee of Monticello; brother, David, 10; sister, Laura, 8; grandparents, Rose and Werner Carlson of Maple Grove, and Gerald K. and wife Char Baier of Emily; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and first grade classmates at Pinewood Elementary School of Monticello.

Roman Becker

Services for Roman J. Becker, 73, of St. Michael were Friday, May 10, 2002, at St. Michael Catholic Church.

Rev. Leonard Siebenaler, Rev. Tim C. Rudolphi, Deacon Don Becker and Deacon Maynard Warne were the concelebrants, and interment followed at the St. Michael Cemetery.

Mr. Becker's godchildren, Gerard Becker, Dan Weber, Bill Becker, Annette Mudd, Donna Barthel and Jim Daleiden served as honorary casket bearers.

Charlie Mudge, Michael Zachman, Joe Lynch, Benjamin Goodwin, Zachary Johnson and Kyle Johnson served as casket bearers.

Mr. Becker was born in Hassan Township, Hennepin County Aug. 13, 1928, the son of Henry and Anna Mayerhofer Becker.

On Aug. 19, 1952, Roman Becker and Donna Mae Bongaarts were joined in holy marriage at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Shakopee. Mr. and Mrs. Becker enjoyed nearly 50 years of married life.

Mr. Becker engaged in dairy farming for many years north of St. Michael. He was a faithful lifetime member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He also belonged to Catholic Aid and to the Knights of Columbus Council #4174.

He fought a courageous battle against ataxia

Mr. Becker is survived by his loving wife, Donna; children, Connie Mudge of Grand Rapids, Sharon (Greg) Zachman of Albertville, Mike (Trudy) Becker of Long Prairie, Diane (Scott) Johnson of Grand Rapids, Jane (Dan) Lynch of Albertville, Carol (Neville) Goodwin and Mark (Linda) Becker of Monticello, Bruce Becker of Albertville, Alice (Lowell) Engstrom of Elk River, Ramona (Tim) Belchak of Albuquerque, N.M., and Tim (Colleen) Becker of Princeton; 39 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother and sisters, Harold (Margaret) Becker of Long Prairie, Sr. Anne Becker, SSND, of Brooklyn Center, Helen Mae (Dan) Wambeke of Marshall and Dorthy (Glen) Daleiden of Brainerd; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eleanor Becker, Agnes "Aggie" Becker, Mary Becker, Helen (Albert) Breeggemann, Rose (Donald) Becker, Edward Weber and Gordon (Helen) Bongaarts; many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, LeAnn; a granddaughter, Heidi Becker; parents, Henry and Anna Becker; brothers, Victor, Leander, Wilfred and Clemens Becker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton and Catherine Bongaarts; brother-in-law, Greg Bongaarts; and sisters-in-law, Dolores Weber, Veronica Becker and Patricia Becker.

Kenneth Bingen

Services for Kenneth C. Bingen, 82, of Monticello, formerly of the Aitkin/McGregor and N.E. Minneapolis area, were Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Palisade.

He died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at The Residence North Hospice in Brooklyn Center.

Mr. Bingen is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Monticello; sons Dennis (Sandy) of Pine Springs, Robert (Roseann) of Champlin; daughter, Laurie Huehn of Ham Lake; six grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Hannish of Dallas, Deloris Behning of Edina; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pearl Moore.

Emily E. Borrell

Services for Emily E. Borrell, 100, of Waverly were Monday, May 20, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly.

Fr. Robert Wiley celebrated the prayer service with Fr. Martin Schallbetter celebrating the Mass. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waverly.

Mrs. Borrell died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at the Delano Healthcare Center. She was born Dec. 18, 1901, in Albion Township to Fred and Elizabeth (Raiche) Coyea.

Mrs. Borrell made her career as a school teacher, having taught school in Albion Township from 1921-23, Dist. 47 (Hance School) from1923-25, Section 8 Woodland Township from 1944-46, Dist. 74 (Woodland Township) from 1954-56, Holy Angels in Minneapolis from 1956-57 and St. Mary's in Waverly from 1957-69. She also substituted in the Howard Lake and Delano Public Schools after retiring in 1969.

She married Joseph L. Borrell Sept. 29, 1925, at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Maple Lake. They made their home southwest of Waverly for the next 57 years.

Mrs. Borrell is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Luella Jandrol; daughter-in-law, Marie Borrell and granddaughter, Nanette Blanchette.

She is survived by five sons, Donald (Marcella) Borrell, Gerald (Therese) Borrell, Clayton (Gerry) Borrell, Marion (Sherry) Borrell and Daniel (Mary Jane) Borrell; 25 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, John (Rita) Jandro and sisters-in-law, Mary Moodie and Dorothy Borrell.

Kate Burrows

Services for Kate Burrows, 17, of Champlin were Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Richfield United Methodist Church in Minneapolis.

Kate died from complications due to cystic fibrosis.

Survivors include her mother and father, Denise and Doug; and brother, Mark.

Memorials may be directed to Decision Hills Camp.

Mildred Edgarton

Services for Mildred H. Edgarton, 86, of Champlin were Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.

She is survived by daughter, Judy (Roland) Foster of Princeton; son, Neil (Pat) Edgarton of Andover; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gayle, Alvin and Stanley; sisters, Margaret, Mae, Gracie, and Edna; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Charles; sister, Eleanor; and brothers, Jerry and Chester.

Eugene G. Floding

Services for Eugene G. Floding, 73, of Albertville were at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 710 Broadway St. E., Osseo.

Mr. Floding died peacefully at his home May 20. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. He will be deeply missed by wife, Verdella; children, Jeffrey (Sue), Taryn (Dale) Johnson; brother, Rolland; grandchildren, Eric and Jared, Lindsay and Jessica; other relatives and friends.

Memorials are preferred to North Memorial Hospice and Home Care, Robbinsdale.

Lillian A. Gast

Services for Lillian A. Gast, 97, of Maple Plain were Friday, May 17, 2002, at Lyndale Lutheran Church in Maple Plain.

Rev. Lyndon Nygaard officiated and interment was in Lewis Cemetery.

Casket bearers were grandsons, Bernie Smieja, Gordon Gast, Bradley Wolff, Fred Wolff, Rodney Wolff and John Ballard.

Mrs. Gast died Monday, May 13, 2002, at Haven Homes in Maple Plain. She was born Sept. 4, 1904, in New Germany, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Kuntz) Hahn.

Mrs. Gast and her family moved to Lyndale when she was about 6 years old and they lived in a log cabin on the north side of Pioneer Creek about a quarter mile west of County Rd. 92. This was part of the original Fred Gast farm. Mrs. Gast was baptized at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany. She was confirmed at Gotahom Lutheran Church in Watertown.

She enjoyed farm life and loved country living and the good earth. She tended many a garden and did her share of canning. For many years she raised chickens and sold eggs to the community. She was a long-time member (more than 75 years) of Lyndale Lutheran Church and was active in church activities such as Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild. She and the ladies group made many quilts. She was an excellent seamstress and shared her talents. In later years she loved to accompany her children to the cabin and liked to go fishing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who enjoyed baking cookies for everyone.

She married Ferdinand Gast at Lyndale Lutheran Church Sept. 25, 1924.

She is survived by children and spouses, Glena and Henry Arnold of Hackensack, Lyle and Marilyn Gast of Foxhome, Velma and Robert Wolff of Orono, and Arlette Wolff of Rush City; grandchildren, Annette and Bernie Smieja, Susan and Joe Welter, Richard Arnold, Barbara and Gordon Orso, Sheree and Albert Lyrek, Linda and Patrick Brickley, Gordon and Katie Gast, Rodney and Holly Wolff, Laurel and John Ballard, Rhonda and Leonard Weletzko, Bradley and Patti Wolff and Fred and Shannon Wolff; 24 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Henning of Buffalo; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ferdinand Gast; infant son, Gordon; parents, Joseph and Mary Hahn and brothers, John and Herbert Hahn.

Darrell Heairet

Services for Darrell F. Heairet, 64, of Clearwater were Tuesday May 14, 2002, at St. Luke's Catholic Church Parish Center in Clearwater.

Heairet died Friday, May 10, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park from a brain tumor. Rev. Gerald Onuoha officiated and burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Mr. Heairet was born June 30, 1937, in Watkins, Minn., to William and Alice (Scholl) Heairet. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1965. He was united in marriage to Donna M. Paul June 1, l957, at St. Phillip's Catholic Church in Litchfield, Minn.

He received his masters degree in business management from Cardinal-Stritch University in 1993. He was employed at Unisys Corporation in Roseville for 31 years, retiring as a project manager in 1998. He lived in Greenfield until moving to Clearwater in 1987. He was a member of St. Luke's parish.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Clearwater; four sons, Desmond and his wife, Leanne, of Buffalo, Dwight and his wife, Susan, Darren, and David and his wife, Lisa, all of Rockford; four grandchildren, Amy, Amber, Joshua and Andrew; three sisters, Lucille Peseone of West Covina, Calif., Pat Bone and her husband, John, of Grass Valley, Calif., and Aloha Swenson of Spicer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Dean William; and two brothers, William and LaMonte.
