Timothy Long

Services for Timothy James Long, 40, were Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, Minneapolis.

Mr. Long died May 1 after a long struggle with the disease of alcoholism.

He is survived by mother, Mary Kay of Minneapolis; father, Lawrence (Patty) of St. Michael; brothers, Lawrence Jr. (Lynn) of Houston, Texas, Daniel (Sheila) of Dayton, Michael (Lorie) of Greenfield, and Patrick of Minneapolis; grandparents, Thomas and Catherine McMullen of Minneapolis; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, James and Dorothy Long.

Memorials are preferred to St. Olaf Social Outreach Program c/o Sister Roseann, 215 S. 8th St., Minneapolis, MN 55402.

Wayne Lundstrom

Services for Wayne M. Lundstrom, 62, of Tonka Bay were Monday, May 13, 2002, at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel in Minneapolis with burial in Lakewood Cemetery.

He is survived by wife, Terri; sons, Stephen of Watertown, Jon of Hopkins, Jason of St. Louis Park and Ryan of St. Louis Park; father, Maurice of New Hope; brothers, Bruce (Judy) of Watertown, Garry of Buffalo, Craig (Bonnie) of Champlin; sister, Liane (Jim) Koutek of Champlin; and nieces and nephews.

Edna Matthias

Services for Edna A. Matthias, 92, of Champlin, were Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Matthias died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

She is survived by a son, daughter, 23 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Lorfeld; second husband, Walter Matthias; and four children.

Janice McCarthy

Services for Janice L. (nee Tourville) McCarthy, 65, of Maple Grove were Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Brooklyn Center.

Burial was in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

Mrs. McCarthy died Thursday, May 2.

She was a graduate of St. Margaret's Academy (1955) and she was a former president of the Babe Ruth Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, David; and five sons and their spouses, Michael (Emiko), Mark (Teresa), Timothy (Janet), Terrence (Ramona), and Kelly (Angela); 12 grandchildren, James and William, Madeline, Genevieve, Noelle and Colette, Allison and Wyatt, Amber and Nathan, Lucas and Hannah.

Marcella M. McGinty

A Memorial Service for Marcella M. McGinty, 39, of Osseo was Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, Osseo.

Survivors include her husband, Larry; children, Nick and Christie Mauren and their father, Tom; parents, Ray and Mary Dietz; and brother, Paul (Shawn) Dietz.

Jon Meyers

Services for Jon W. Meyers, 36, of West Fargo, N.D., formerly of Anoka, were Friday, May 3, 2002, at Ivers-Landblom Funeral Home Chapel in Fargo.

He is survived by his wife, Alicia Meyers of West Fargo, N.D.; son, Brett Meyers; daughter, Megan Meyers; maternal grandmother, Matilda Lock of Forman, N.D.; parents, Richard and Donna Meyers of Sun City, Ariz.; brother, Wayne (Marti) Meyers of Prior Lake; sisters, Paula (Jim) Grof of Blomkest, Pamela (Brad) Burk of Dayton, and Patricia (Jeff) Harren of Swanville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Marjorie Nelson

Services for Marjorie Nelson, 78, of Dayton were Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dayton with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Anoka.

Rev. Tom Margevicius officiated. Casket bearers were Shawn Nelson, Aaron Nelson, Randy Breuer, Henry Lahn, Jerome Stoeckel and Richard Lahn.

She was born June 21, 1923, in Outlook, Mont., the daughter of Roy O. Nelson and Edna E. (Koester). She died Thursday, May 2, at Twin Rivers Care Center in Anoka.

She was a teller supervisor at Midwest Federal Bank.

Survivors include her brother, Peter (Kaye) Nelson; niece, Dana; nephew, Erik; and close friend, Phyllis Lahn.

Memorials preferred to the Crosier Monastery in Onamia.

Clinton J. Pearson

Services for Clinton J. Pearson, 71, of Watertown were Friday, April 26, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Czestochowa in Delano.

Fr. James Livingston officiated and interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, Brandon Pearson, Jeremy Pearson, Herman Pearson, Nathan Pearson, Clint Pearson, Dustin Bening, Mike Dye, Nick Millerbernd, Liz Pearson, Robert Dye, Emily Pearson, Derrick Pearson, Timothy Dye, Jonathan Pearson, Dillon Pearson and Megan Pearson.

Mr. Pearson died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, with his family at his side at the Elim Home in Watertown. He was born March 9, 1931, in Watertown to Eddie and Mary (Kunkel) Pearson.

He was a life-long resident in Watertown, farming and raising his family. He was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.

Mr. Pearson married Eleanor Mae Farniok Feb. 23, 1957, and the couple raised five children together.

Mr. Pearson was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Czestochowa. He enjoyed tractors, tractor pulls, antiques and running his skidstear loader. He especially loved spending time with or talking about his grandchildren.

He is survived by wife of 45 years, Eleanor; sons, Jerome (Sheila) Pearson, Kenneth (Donna) Pearson and Kevin (Christine) Pearson; daughters, Patricia (James) Dye and Joan Pearson; 16 grandchildren; brother, Edward Pearson; sisters, Rita (Bernie) Nieman, Barbara Sohns and Mary Moore.

Carl Raymond Purkey

Services for Carl Raymond Purkey, 87, of Findlay, Ohio, were Monday, May 6, 2002, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Findlay, Ohio.

Rev. Gregory Creech officiated and interment with military rites was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Findley, Ohio.

Mr. Purkey died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at the Winebrenner Health Care Center. He was born Dec. 24, 1914, in Bloomdale, Ohio, the son of Harry Orlo and Bertha Blanche (Oberholtzer) Purkey.

Mr. Purkey was a 1935 graduate of Fostoria High School. He was a World War II veteran and served in the 62nd Anti-Aircraft Battalion during European-African-Middle Eastern campaigns.

He retired in 1976 from Union Carbide (now Dow Chemical) in Fostoria as a carbon cutter, and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Findley.

Mr. Purkey married Frances Moore Aug. 14, 1943.

Besides his wife, he is survived by daughter, Vera F. (Gary) Kramer of Jenera, Ohio; son, Franklin Carl Purkey of Delano; grandchildren, Heather Nahhas, Dawn Stoll, Carrie Glunz, Mark Purkey and Mike Purkey; great-grandchildren, Nathan Nahhas, Andrew Nahhas, Caleb Stoll, Josiah Nahhas and Christopher Glunz; step-great-grandchild, Fred Glunz; brothers, Glen F. Purkey of Dayton, Ohio, and John Henry Purkey of Columbia, S.C.

He was preceded in death by great-grandson, Zachary Stoll; brothers Vern Ober Purkey and Dorris Ray Purkey and sister, Dorothy Tarris.

Edythe A. Ramthun

Edythe A. Ramthun, Age 93 of Hillman died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at The Foley Nursing Center.

She was born near Dean Lake in Rockford Township on March 8, 1909 the Daughter of William J. & Anna Leerssen Dixon.

Edythe was Baptized by The Reverend Blummenanz at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church-Crawford Lake on July 4, 1909. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and Confirmed in the Christian faith by The Reverend E. Bruns at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church-Crawford Lake on August 27, 1922.

On June 25, 1930, Edythe Dixon was joined in holy marriage to Lawrence Ramthun at her Parents home near Dean Lake.

Mr. & Mrs. Ramthun engaged in farming in Rockford Township from 1936 until 1972. Following their retirement from farming, Edythe and Lawrence moved to Hillman, Minnesota. Lawrence W. Ramthun preceded his Wife in death on May 12, 1997.

She was the first coach for Buffalo Women's Softball.

Through the years, Edythe also enjoyed crocheting items for her family. She belonged to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church-Crawford Lake.

Survived by Children: Yvonne E. (Harry) Visser of Maple Plain, Lawrence F. "Sonny" (Dorothy) Ramthun of Big Lake & William J. (Susan) Ramthun of Mound; Grandchildren: Debra, Connie, Mary, Robert, Gail, Melissa & Aaron; fourteen Great Grandchildren; four Step Great Grandchildren; two Great, Great Grandchildren; a Sister-in-law: Irene Zabel of Delano; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her Husband, Edythe was preceded in death by her Parents: William & Anna Dixon, a Granddaughter: Brenda Ramthun, Great Grandchildren: Nathaniel Bentley & Angela James, three Sisters: Sara Wandersee in 1962, Ethel Heinz in 1975 and Barbara Schmidt in 1991 and three Brothers: Art Dixon in 1974, Julius Dixon in 1981 and George Dixon in 1982.

Funeral Services for Edythe Ramthun were held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 10th at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Pastor John A. Ramsbacher officiated and interment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery-Crawford Lake.

Friends called at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo on Thursday, May 9th from 4-8 P.M. Pastor Robert J. Hellmann had a Prayer Service at 6:00 P. M.

Marlene Mohwinkel was the organist for the funeral service and Rolf Mohwinkel sang "On Eagles' Wings" & "How Great Thou Art".

Edythe's seven Grandchildren served as her Honorary casket bearers.

Earl Dixon, Dixon Schmidt, Dean Dixon, Duane Dixon, Ed Heins & John Heins served as casket bearers.

Rose Ross

Services for Rose M. Ross, 80, of St. Therese Home were Monday, April 29, 2002, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Crystal.

Interment was in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Osseo.

Mrs. Ross died April 26 in New Hope. She was born March 3, 1922, in St. Cloud.

She was preceded in death by husband, Elmo; one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by children, Ronald and Jakki Ross, Gary and Linda Ross and Kathy and Larry Hunt; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Jerome Hennek and other relatives and friends.

Memorials preferred to St. Therese Home.

Davis Scantlin

Services for Davis F. Scantlin, 59, of Maple Grove will be Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 18500 County Rd. 101, Maple Grove.

Mr. Scantlin died Monday, April 22, in Columbia Heights. He was born Aug. 27, 1942, at West Plains, Mo.

He was a member of Lord of Life Church; Osseo American Legion and Minnesota Bass Federation.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; daughters, Tina Warner of Burnsville, and Angela Lund of Wildomar, Calif.; mother, Nadine Scantlin of Arkansas; brother, Larry of North Carolina; sister, Mary Tharp of Texas; grandchildren, Crystal, Daniel, Skylar and Seth.

Memorials may be given to the Davis F. Scantlin Memorial Fund.

Cleo Schoeneman

Services for Cleo Burgett Schoeneman, 72, of St. Louis Park were May 11, 2002, at Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park.

She died Wednesday, May 8.

Mrs. Schoeneman was born in Loretto and resided in Maple Plain and Long Lake. She was formerly employed for 31 years at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and later for 11 years at the Novartis Corporation.

Because of Mrs. Schoeneman great love of nature, the sun always shined brighter, birds chirped louder and flowers bloomed when she was near. Mrs. Schoeneman was a wonderful sister and a friend to brother, Bob Burgett. She also was an inspiration to her two sons and had a wonderful understanding of both of them.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Lew Schoeneman; sons, Craig Schoeneman of Ramsey and Dan (Amy) Schoeneman of Jordan; grandchildren, Joshua and Laura; a brother, Bob Burgett of Mesa, Ariz.; nephews, Mark Burgett and Shane (Julie) Burgett; a niece, Donna Burgett; sisters-in-law, Mary Schoeneman Duerre of Petaluma, Calif. and Gloria Schoeneman of Mesa, Ariz.; and other relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Don Burgett in 1940; and by her mother, Bessie Moses Burgett Churchward in 1999.

Joseph See

Services for Joseph W. See, 46, of Jordan were Friday, April 19, 2002, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jordan.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Jordan.

Mr. See died Tuesday, April 16. He was preceded in death by brother, James See.

Survivors include his sons, Jeremiah See and Michael See of Jordan; parents, Charles and Bernice See of Brooklyn Center; brother, Tom (Kirsten) See of Osceola, Wis..; and sister, Shirley (Gene) Poulti of Maple Grove.
