Hugh Hollis Sheetz

Services for Ret. Major Hugh Hollis Sheetz, 84, were Sunday, April 21, 2002, at 10900 W. River Rd., Champlin.

Mr. Sheetz died suddenly and unexpectedly, Sunday, April 7. He was a life member, Cascade Lodge 34, A.F. & A.M; a graduate of Purdue. He was retired from the Air Force and retired from the Montana Air National Guard.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Norma of Maple Grove; sister, Troas Sheetz Benson of Bremen, Ind.; step-daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Don Bownik of Champlin; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Thomas J. Stocke

Services for Sgt. Thomas J. Stocke, 56, of Maple Grove were Monday, April 22, 2002, at United Methodist Church, Buffalo.

Sgt. Stocke was a 33-year veteran of the Minneapolis Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce M. Stocke; children, Jennifer of St. Cloud and friend Curt, Martin, Danielle and Michelle, all at home; brothers and sisters, Frank and Paul, both of Duluth, Richard of White Bear Lake, Maryann of Andover and Charlotte of Phoenix; many other relatives and friends.

Paul Stoddard

Services for Paul Arthur Stoddard, 82, of Rockford were Monday, May 6, 2002, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Corcoran.

Interment was in St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery in Corcoran. Father George Kinney officiated with music provided by Sunny Wojeiak, organist, and Dick Johnson, soloist. Pallbearers were Paul Hagen, Andy Barthel, Matt Stoddard, Nic Stoddard, David Hagen, Dan Stoddard, Mike Stoddard Jr., and Shon Hissam.

He died Friday, May 3, 2002, at his daughter's home in St. Michael. He was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Livermore, Iowa, to Arthur and Jenny (Harris) Stoddard.

Mr. Stoddard served in the U.S. Armed forces. He was a past commander of the Rockford VFW Post 3929, as well as a member of the Delano American Legion Post 377. He worked as a truck driver, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He drove transport for Standard Oil for many years. His hobbies included woodworking and riding his new Harley Davidson, which he purchased when he was 80 years old.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Janice (Brown); his parents; brothers Archie and Henry Stoddard; and grandson Joseph Ryan Hagen.

He is survived by his children: sons Mike and Mary Stoddard, Pat and Barb Stoddard, Dave and Jeanette Stoddard and Joe and Alice Stoddard; daughters Jean and Tom Barthel and Beth and Joe Hagen; 22 grandchildren: Jeff Stoddard, Bradley and Melissa Stoddard, Mandy Jo Stoddard, Michael Stoddard Jr., Kate Stoddard, Den Stoddard, Anna Stoddard, Sarah Stoddard, Mark Stoddard, Ben Stoddard, Shannon and Nick Duerr, Tracy and Dave Bechtold, Matthew Stoddard, Nic Stoddard, Shon and Jenny Hissam, Lon and Chris Tiffany, Janice Barthel, Laura Barthel, Andy Barthel, Janna Hagen, Paul Hagen, and David Hagen; and 10 great grandchildren: Kylie Stoddard, Courtnie Stoddard, Jack Stoddard, Presley Stoddard, Maddie Duerr, Alex Duerr, Dawson Bechtold, Rachel Hissam, Benjamin Hissam and Emma Spike.

William Stone

Services for William L. "Bill" Stone, 69, of Champlin were Saturday, May 4, 2002, at St. Gerard's Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park, with burial in St. Fridolin's Cemetery in Champlin.

Mr. Stone was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who died of complication of a stroke. He and his wife, Angela, owned A&B Stone's Dry Cleaners in Brooklyn Center for 15 years, and built the home they have resided in since 1957. He was a Korean War veteran and enjoyed woodworking, electrical work and plumbing. He also was an unpublished artist.

He is survived by his wife, Angela; daughters, Debra (Steven) Stephan, Julie (Greg) Hennek, Dianna Lapham, Amanda (David) Rathmanner and Patricia Elmer; grandchildren, Angela, Robert, Mark, Rob, Dan, Eddie and Nick; brothers, Patrick (Marie) of Brooklyn Park and Frances (Darlene) of Hillman; sister, Kathryn Hovet of Goodrich; and sister-in-law, Gloria of Sauk Center.

Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents, Amanda (Grande) and Floyd; brothers, Howard and Harold; sister-in-law, Adeline; brother-in-law, Obert Hovet; and granddaughter, Ashley.

Shirley Ann Tischbirek

Services for Shirley Ann (Stenglein) Tischbirek, 57, of Big Lake, were Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Big Lake with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Tischbirek died Monday, May 6, 2002. She was born and raised in Champlin and was a 1963 graduate of Anoka High School.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Bob; sons, Terry (Ruth) Carlson, Mike Carlson, Chris Tischbirek; daughter, Alisa (Duane) Taatjes; grandson, Wyatte Tischbirek; mother, Marian Auchter; brother, Del Stenglein; sister, Sheila (Kenneth) Brisbin; stepbrothers, Rick Auchter, Greg Auchter, Joe Lakosky; stepsisters, Linda Hellman, Sally Marquette, Robin Logdahl; mother-in-law, Delores Tischbirek; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Stenglein, and step father, Richard Auchter.

Tarrence Trout

Services for Tarrence A. Trout, Sr., 56, formerly of Minneapolis, were Saturday, May 4, 2002, at the Westphal American Legion Hall in Robbinsdale.

He is survived by two sons, Tarrence Jr. (Shannon) of Buffalo and Jon of St. Michael; two sisters, Bluette Puchner of Webster, Wis., and Katherine (John) Connelly of Bloomington; twin brother Lawrence (Jane) Trout of Plymouth; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary and Savannah; seven nephews, and special friend, Marvin Dick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bill Puchner.

Nestor D. Von Bank

Services for Nestor D. Von Bank, 83, of St. Michael were at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Rev. Leonard Siebenaler was the celebrant and interment with military rites followed at the St. Michael Cemetery.

Nestor's grandsons served as casket bearers and his granddaughters were honorary casket bearers.

Memorials are suggested to the Building Fund of The Church of St. Michael.

Mr. Von Bank died Sunday, April 14, at the Buffalo Hospital.

He was born March 5, 1919, in St. Michael the son of Theodore and Mathilda Becker Von Bank. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1939.

Mr. Von Bank honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II and was awarded a Purple Heart.

On May 8, 1946, Nestor Von Bank and Bernice M. Vetsch were joined in holy marriage at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Louis Park. God blessed their marriage with six children.

Mr. Von Bank formerly worked at Twin City Arsenal and later for 35 years at Minnesota Rubber. He retired from Minnesota Rubber in 1983. He also formerly worked part time for the Wright County Sheriff's Department for 10 years and was a part-time police officer for the city of St. Michael for 25 years.

He was a life member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 4174 and a member and a past commander of American Legion Post 567.

Mr. Von Bank is survived by wife, Bernice M. Von Bank; children, Sharon (Mike Matras) Von Bank of Boca Raton, Fla., James (LaDonna Meinecke) Von Bank of Corcoran, Janet (Clay) Huikko of St. Peter, Ted (Karla) Von Bank of Rogers, Tim (Mary) Von Bank of St. Michael and David (Teresa) Von Bank of Rogers; seven grandsons, Joel, Jason, Henry, Jared, Willie, Peter and Brian; 12 granddaughters, Shannon, Leah, Tonya, Emily, Sarah, Jamie, Danielle, Laura, Samantha, Catherine, Haley and Helaina; five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Tony, Michael, Miksela and Joseph; many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth "Lee Ann" Von Bank; his parents; brothers, Gerhardt and Raymond Von Bank and Edmund Dahlheimer; sisters, Clara and Mildred Von Bank, Theresa Epple and Isabelle Berning.

Minnie Johanna Weihe

Services for Minnie Johanna Weihe, 101, of Delano were Monday, April 29, 2002, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano.

Pastor Paul Marggraf officiated and interment was in West Mt. Olive Cemetery in Delano.

Mrs. Weihe died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at the Delano Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 9, 1900, in Franklin Township to Robert and Johanna (Hahnke) Otto.

She was preceded in death by husband, Edward A. Weihe and son, Bob. She outlived all of her siblings, five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by grandson, John Weber; granddaughter, Jenny Cassman; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Morgan and Jessica; nieces; nephews and friends.

Kathleen Amborn

Services for Kathleen Jane (Katie) Amborn (Mistelske), 59, of Fridley were Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Osseo Church of the Nazarene, 224 First Ave. N.W., Osseo.

Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka.

Mrs. Amborn died Thursday, March 28, at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughter, Jennifer; son, Chad; and many other close friends and relatives. She leaves memories of her smiles and spit-fire attitude.

Memorials preferred.

Elizabeth 'Betty' Aurentz

Services for Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Aurentz, 62, of Rockford were Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Mrs. Aurentz died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. She was born March 13, 1940, in Buffalo the daughter of William T. and Evelyn Fadden Brown.

She was joined in marriage to Robert "Bob" Aurentz July 22, 1960. Mr. Aurentz preceded his wife in death in 1985.

Mrs. Aurentz formerly worked at K-Tel and also in the deli at North American Foods in Rockford. She enjoyed walking, the out of doors and her cats.

She is survived by children, Kim (Mickey) Goldfine of Carmel, N.Y.; Kelly (Roxann) Brynestad of Buffalo; Hayley (Doren) Anderson of Maple Lake, Troy Aurentz of Becker and Tracy (Howard) Ingles of Maple Lake; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Phil (Sandy) Brown of Buffalo and Marvin (Pat) Brown of New Brighton; sister, Joyce (Dave) Ward of Plymouth; mother-in-law, Esther Aurentz of Delano; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, "Tootsie" Sersch of Delano, Jerry (Barb) Aurentz of Howard Lake, Ronnie (Jan) Aurentz of Becker and Pat Anderson of Montrose.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Aurentz was preceded in death by parents, William and Evelyn Brown and father-in-law, John Kelly Aurentz.

Fred Breitbarth

Services for Fred J. Breitbarth, 68, of Hamel were Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake.

Mr. Breitbarth owned and operated Long Lake Glass for 33 years and was a member of the VFW Post 5903.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret; and by his brother, Jerry.

He is survived by loving wife, Bernice; son, David and wife Jadelle; sisters, Bernice Stoderl and Joanne (Marvin) Wilson; brothers, Art (Nancy) and Al (Jean); and many loving relatives and friends.

Dennis Chemberlin

A celebration of life for Dennis L. Chemberlin will take place Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at United Presbyterian Church, 6301 Maple St., Rockford.

Dennis L. Chemberlin, 58, of Minneapolis died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Hennepin County Medical Center.

He is survived by parents, Don and Dorothy of Rockford; brother, Bob of Lakeville; sister Jan (Butch) Gardner of Maple Plain; also survived by five nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Donna (Charles) Bean of Waconia.

Jean Christensen

Services for Jean L. Christensen, 75, of Maple Grove, formerly of New Hope, were Saturday, April 6, 2002, at House of Hope Lutheran Church, 4800 Boone Ave. N.

Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

She was a 25-year member of the Robbinsdale Eastern Star and worked 15 years for School Dist. 281. She was a member of the Crystal Aires and a charter member of House of Hope Lutheran Church. She was an avid golfer and traveler; loving wife, mother and devoted grandmother.

Mrs. Christensen was preceded in death by husband, Harley A. Christensen.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and John Schaal, Kay and Jim Esser, and Jill and Dave Burke; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Betty Christensen; 11 grandchildren; sister, Elaine Strom; and brother, Roy Harley.

Travis Copsey

Services for Travis Mehlhoff Copsey, 18, of Brooklyn Park, were Monday, April 8, 2002, at United Methodist Church in Anoka, with burial in Morningside Memorial Gardens.

Travis, a Champlin Park High School student, died accidentally while on spring break in Mazatlan, Mexico, March 30. He had been accepted and planned to attend Minnesota State College, Mankato, in the fall. Travis loved playing pool, picking on his electric guitar, watching movies and fishing. He especially loved playing cards and hanging out with his friends. Travis' unique sense of humor and character will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by parents, Michelle and Dave Baker and Steve Copsey; brothers, Austin Copsey and Chase Baker; grandparents, Dolly and Al Mehlhoff, Dorothy and Earl Baker and Carol Copsey; aunts and uncles, Sherry Mehlhoff and Antonio Estrada, Troy and Denise Mehlhoff, Cheryl McAlpine, Lynn Manthie, Deb Jarvi, Mike and Trink Copsey, Laurie and Steve Soffa and Jeff Copsey; many cousins, relatives and other friends.

Bruno Brettschneider

Services for Bruno A. Brettschneider, 71, of Anoka, were Friday, April 5, 2002, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka. He died March 22, 2002, in Mesa, Ariz.

Mr. Brettschneider was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 102, Anoka, and charter member of the Dayton Lions Club.

He is survived by wife, Karen; children, Susan Brettschneider, Mark (Renee), Paula (Keith) Tusa, Anne Brettschneider; grandchildren, Nicholas, Katie and Heather; brother, Heinz (Dianne); many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ernst and Paula; sisters, Margaret Brettschneider and Lydia Pierson.

Memorials preferred to American Lung Association or Leader Dogs for the Blind.
