Howard 'Bud' DeMarais

Services for Howard "Bud" Joseph DeMarais, 73, of Delano, were Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at St. Peter's Church in Delano.

Rev. Michael Miller officiated and interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Pallbearers were Gary DeMarais, DuWayne DeMarais, Brett DeMarais, Ronald Rentz, Wade Bryant and John Rentz.

Mr. DeMarais died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. He was born Oct. 23, 1928 to Howard and Esther (Wurm) DeMarais in Maple Lake Township.

He married Colleen A. Gardner, his wife of 55 years. They made their home in Delano where they were lifelong members of St. Peter's Catholic Church. This is where they were married March 8, 1947.

The couple were involved in a number of self-employed businesses. In the early years, DeMarais worked for the Delano Granite Works as a truck driver and monument setter. After leaving the granite works, the couple started their own milk route, using three trucks which covered the Delano, Watertown and Meyer areas. In 1960 they owned and operated the Rainbow Inn in Delano. This was a family-style restaurant located in downtown Delano. The couple operated this for 13 years, at which point Mr. DeMarais started his own excavating and equipment operating business which he continued until his retirement.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, collecting antique cars and tractors and horseshoes, but especially spending time with his family. He liked to work and play hard.

He was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Esther; sisters, Dorothy Krystokek, Bernice Moody and Elaine Rentz and brothers, Richard and Maurice.

He is survived by wife, Colleen; daughters, Cherie (Evert) VanErp, Linda (Arny) Hausladen, LuAnn (Daniel) Anderson, Nettie (Jeff) Adickes and Cathy (Stuart) Marquette; son, Jon; grandchildren, Jason VanErp and special friend, Vicki Wolff, Keri (Cary "Red") Christensen, Holly (Tim) Schrupp, Molly (Len) Lopez, Randy Hausladen, Christopher Anderson and special friend, Megan Harms, Ricky (Brenda) Anderson, Jenny (Ron) Durant, Kelly Adickes, Nick Krause, Katie Krause and Taylor DeMarais; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Avery, Alex, Cody, Anthony and Austin; brothers, Ronald, Gary (Judi), Darrell and fiancee, Gloria, DuWayne "Champ" (Dixie) and Darwin "Bucky" (Marsha) and sisters, Delores "Babe" Rentz, Gloria (Jim) Hollerbach and Mary (Dick) Haberle.

Richard DesMarais

Services for Richard DesMarais, 18, of Maple Grove were Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Maple Grove Evangelical Free Church, 8585 Rice Lake Rd.

Mr. DesMarais died in a motorcycle accident Monday, March 25, in Maple Grove. He will be missed by all who came in contact with him while waiting on tables at Baker's Square. The twinkle in his eyes and the constant smile on his face will be remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors include his parents, Blase and Connie; brother, Kyle, and sister, Collette; grandparents, George and Ardis DesMarais; grandmother, Marion Furey; great grandmother, Birdie Petersen; a large family of uncles, aunts, cousins and many good friends.

Peggy Edwards

Services for Peggy T. Edwards, 47, of Detroit Lakes, formerly of Loretto, were Saturday, March 30, 2002, at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by husband, Neil; daughters, Christina, Jessica and Catherine, all of Detroit Lakes; sons, Jared and Nathan of Audubon; step-daughter, Robin (Joseph "Jay") Thompson, Waldorf, Md.; parents, Kenneth and Mildred Van Beusekom of Loretto; and brothers, Richard (Barb), Robert (Betty), Thomas, Anthony (Julie) and Donald (Denise) Van Beusekom, all of Loretto; sister, Mary Van Beusekom of St. Louis Park; and four grandchildren.

Lillian D. Gibson

Services for Lillian D. Gibson, 65, of Delano were Friday, March 15, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Czestochowa in Franklin Township.

Private family interment was in East Dubuque, Ill.

Mrs. Gibson was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by parents and one brother. She is survived by husband, Wallace; son, Mark; grandsons, William and Benjamin; sisters, Shirley Hinderman, Sandra Foht and Laurie Brandel; and brothers, Randy Roth and Ronald Roth.

Raymond Gramke

Services for Raymond J. Gramke, 76, of Rogers, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove, Minn.

Serving as casket bearers were Jim and Mark Gramke, Dave and Bob Ruprecht, Thomas Orth and Mark Milless. Cross bearer was Judy Weber and scripture bearer was Julie Gramke.

Rev. Ken Popp officiated with interment following in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Gramke died Friday, March 15, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

He was born Oct. 3, 1925, in Meire Grove to Henry and Mary (Zenzen) Gramke. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he later was the custodian at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove.

Mr. Gramke moved to Rogers in 1959 and was the custodian at St. Martin's Catholic Church and School in Rogers.

He was united in marriage to Iris (Mondor) Zwolenski in 1964. He was later employed at Federal Cartridge until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Rogers.

Mr. Gramke is survived by brother, Norbert (Ruth) Gramke of Meire Grove; sister, Erma (Herb) Ruprecht of Elk River; five nieces and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris (Mondor) Zwolenski Gramke Oct. 6, 1994; and his parents, Henry and Mary (Zenzen) Gramke.

Vivian Hartkopf Gross

Services for Vivian A. Gross Hartkopf Gross, 89, of Buffalo, formerly of Osseo were Friday, March 29, 2002, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

Pastor James Disney officiated and interment followed at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Osseo.

Sandi Dixon was the organist for the funeral service. "How Great Thou Art," "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" and "Beautiful Savior" were sung as congregational hymns.

J.J. Cruikshank, Alex Baldwin and Aaron Corey served as honorary casket bearers, and Ron Cruikshank, Bob Marquette, Dale Corey, Jay Baldwin, Erik Corey and Ben Marquette served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Gross died Tuesday, March 26, at the Park View Care Center. She was born April 8, 1912, in Maple Grove the daughter of Felix and Emma Killmer Prenzlow.

She was baptized on May 26, 1912, and instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 16, 1926 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Osseo.

On Sept. 18, 1929, Vivian Prenzlow and Edward Hartkopf were joined in holy marriage at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Osseo. They farmed in Maple Grove until 1948 and later moved to Osseo. Edward preceded her in death in 1957.

On March 4, 1967, Vivian Hartkopf and Harry F. Gross were joined in holy marriage at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Harry preceded Vivian in death in 1979.

She belonged to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

Survivors include daughter, Barbara (Leon) Loeffler of Underwood; five grandchildren, Laurie (Ron) Cruikshank of Crystal, Linda (Bob) Marquette of Albertville, Jay (Jeanne) Baldwin of St. Michael, Annie (Dale) Corey of Buffalo and Susan Baldwin of St. Michael; 10 great-grandchildren, Rachel and J.J., Ben and Nicole, Jayme, Alex and Megan, Erik, Ashley and Aaron.

In addition to her husbands, Vivian was also preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Emma Prenzlow and a sister Bernice Prenzlow.

Elizabeth (Goeb) Kauppi

Services for Elizabeth Clara (Goeb) Kauppi, 63, of Corcoran were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Corcoran.

Rev. George R. Kinney was the celebrant for the Mass and interment followed at St. Jeanne de Chantel Cemetery.

Mrs. Kauppi died Wednesday, March 20, at her residence.

She was born May 27, 1938, in Buffalo the daughter of Edward and Mary Goeb.

She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1956.

On Oct. 29, 1960, Elizabeth Goeb and Larry Kauppi were joined in holy marriage at St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with two children.

She formerly worked at Minntech Corp. and was a faithful member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Corcoran.

Mrs. Kauppi is survived by husband, Larry T. Kauppi; children, Michael (Joan) Kauppi of Rockford and Debra Kauppi of Corcoran and friend, Justin Ward; grandchildren, Amy, Tara, Ryan and Janae; a great-grandchild, Kaeley; brothers and sisters, Al (Jeanette) Goeb and Veronica (Bud) Varner, all of Buffalo, Louis Goeb of Corcoran, Marlene Dupont of Buffalo, Marie (Ron) Dehn of Rockford and Deloria (Roger) Weege of Montrose; a brother-in-law, Allan (Shirley) Kauppi of Coon Rapids; many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Goeb; and by a brother, Joseph Goeb.

Katherine F. Lang

Services for Katherine F. Lang, 70, of Minnetonka Beach and Naples, Fla., were 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at the Church of Our Lady of Grace, Edina.

Mrs. Lang died peacefully due to cancer.

She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Russsell Frost, and her mother, Katherine.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; son, Fred (Lynette) of Loretto; daughter, Katherine F. (William) Norman; granddaughter, Camille Norman and grandson, Jack Norman of Orono; sisters, Mary Frey of Edina and Sarah Evans of Murphys, Calif; brother, Tom Frost, of St. Paul; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Carl Larson

A memorial service for Carl T. Larson, 81, of Osseo, who died Sunday, March 24, 2002, will be Sunday, April 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Regan Hall at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary; sons, Carl, Gary (Bobbi) and Thom (Bev); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, George Jarvis; special friends, Susan and Gary Treberg.

Memorials preferred to North Memorial Hospice or Parkinson's Foundation.

Louise LaVallee

Services for Louise M. LaVallee, 61, of Osseo were Friday, April 5, 2002, at 7 p.m. at Evans Nordby Funeral Home, Osseo.

The Rev. Gregory Tyler officiated. Music was by Courtney Keenan-Young with violinist Michelle Kalla.

Mrs. LaVallee died Tuesday, April 2, in Coon Rapids after a short illness.

She was born Dec. 15, 1940, in Hopkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Vivian Gresser; and sister, Carol Krussow.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy; daughter, Mary (John) Hohn and two beautiful grandchildren, Andrew and Jennifer; four brothers and one sister; two aunts and one uncle; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Maryjo.

Memorials may be given to the Louise M. LaVallee Memorial Fund.

Donald Moses

Donald R. Moses, 58, of Montreal, Wis., formerly of Loretto, died at his home Sunday, March 10, 2002.

He was born May 22, 1943 in Wayzata, son of the late Roy and Doris (Elks) Moses.

He is survived by a son, Glen (Shelly) of White Bear Lake; daughters, Donette (David) Letourneau of Stacy, and Lorri Benson of Isanti; five grandchildren, Andrea, Emily and Jason Letourneau and Hunter and Beau Benson; brother, Alanzo Moses of Maple Grove; three sisters, Liane (Roft) Laddusau of Isle, Peggy (Harold) Madsen of Hawick, and Betty (John) Vaillant of Glen Allen, Va.; and other relatives.

Joseph W. Pettit

Services for Joseph W. Pettit, 46, of Corcoran were Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Corcoran.

Fr. George R. Kennedy was the celebrant and interment followed at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Loretto.

Casket bearers were Rod, Tony, Jacob and Jeremy Pettit, James Gleason, Larry Aeshliman and Robert Murphy.

Mr. Pettit died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at his residence. He was born Dec. 23, 1955, in Buffalo, the son of Michael F. and Teresa Murphy Pettit. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1974.

He engaged in dairy farming for many years west of Corcoran. He later was employed by Doboszenski & Sons, Inc. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Corcoran and belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49.

Mr. Pettit is survived by children, Jeffrey, Megan, Samantha and Michelle; mother, Teresa Pettit of St. Michael; brothers and sisters, Tomothy (Alice) Pettit of Clear Lake, Peggy (Robert) Bonicatto of Crystal, Richard (Denise) Pettit of Rockford, Cinthia (Shaun) Irwin of Loretto and Patricia (Matt) Stahlmann of Hanover; special friend, Connie Kruse; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends, including the mother of his four children, Peggy.

He was preceded in death by father, Michael F. "Mike" Pettit in 1991 and by his grandparents.

Carol Rodeghier

Services for Carol A. (nee Brummer), 52, of Wabasha formerly of Hamel were Wednesday, March 27, 2002, with a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. George, Long Lake.

Interment was at St. George Cemetery, Long Lake.

She was preceded in death by mother Delores and brother, Ronald.

Survivors include her husband, Gary; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Katy Rodeghier, and Scott and Sheila Rodeghier; grandson Benjamin Rodeghier, father Leonard Brummer; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Lynn Johnson; and brother, Tim Brummer.
