As a 12-year-old she saw the turn of the century, 1900. She was married to Phillip Dahlheimer for 60 years, until he died at age 85. She lived her life near their farm raising her seven children, gardening, playing cards, dancing and most of all remaining calm in spirit. She was able to do everything for herself her entire life, until the last three years of her life. She gardened until she was 102, when she moved to the nursing home. She was a talented dress maker who sawed all the dresses for her daughters and herself and the play clothes for her boys.

In an interview for the 112th birthday, her oldest child Florence Johnson, then 90, said "She was a wizard in the kitchen. She taught my sister and me to cook when we were very young... She is very artistic. She likes everything neat and nice."
