Ruth A. Ende

Services for Ruth A. Ende, 82, of Hanover were Friday, July 26, 2002, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.

Rev. Paul R. Settergren officiated and interment followed at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Colleen Johnson was the organist for the funeral service. "Shall We Gather at the River," "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms," and "Softly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling" were sung as congregational hymns. The Kottke family also provided special music. Scott Ende, Jeff Ende, Jack Lynch, Larry Lynch, Pat Jordan and Jim Sipe served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Ende died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. She was born May 7, 1920, in Maple Grove the daughter of Frank and Ruth Esty Laflin. She was Baptized at The Immanuel Evangelical Church of Maple Grove. She was later confirmed as an adult by Rev. Otto Herder at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.

Mrs. Ende graduated from Osseo High School in 1938.

On July 24, 1940, Ruth Laflin and Arnold Ende were joined in holy marriage at The Immanuel Evangelical Church of Maple Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Ende engaged in farming near Hanover until 1969. Arnold H. Ende preceded his wife in death April 8, 1983.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover and was their church organist for 18 years. She belonged to the quilting group at church and to its Bible study. Through the years, she also belonged to Hennepin County's Home Extension Group.

Mrs. Ende is survived by children, Marlys (Lawrence) Lynch of Rogers, Mavis (Sherman) Sipe of Onamia, Leroy (Lynda) Ende of St. Michael, Jerry Ende of Hanover and Jolene (Greg Kuklock) Jordan of Buffalo; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Brown of Rockford; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don Colebank, Vi Ende, Norwin and Dorothy Ende; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ende was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents, Frank and Ruth Laflin; and by three sisters, Mabel, Margaret and Merle.

Sharon Hilde

Services for Sharon L. (Sarenpa) Hilde, 45, of Rockford, formerly of Mound, were Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Union Cemetery in Mound.

She is survived by daughter, Tina (Ralph) Muse; sons, Timmy and Travis Hilde; their father, Ron; granddaughter, Deevine Muse; sister, Sandra (Mike) Condon; and nieces, nephew, family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by mother, Sally Fillmore, and brother, David Sarenpa.

Roger F. Miller

Services for Roger F. Miller, 73, of Maple Grove were Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Maple Grove Community Center.

He was a professor emeritus of economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1958 to 1995. He died from cancer on Aug. 3, 2002, at his home in Maple Grove. At his death, Roger was surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by wife, Carolyn; brothers, Glen and Derek; sons, Greg, Matt, and Tony; stepson, David Cary (Vicki); stepdaughter, Ann Kinney (Matt); and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Glen and Ann Miller.

Brockton Olson

Services for Brockton C. Olson, 2, of Maple Grove were Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral.

He died unexpectedly Sunday, July 28, 2002.

He is survived by loving parents, Kris and Scott Olson; sister, Kelsey; maternal grandmother, Vernie (Tom) Schroer; maternal grandfather, Jim (Mary) Popilek; paternal grandparents, Dick and Carol Olson; maternal great-grandmothers, Joyce Popilek and Caroline Illies; and godparents, Lori Popilek, Randy Otten and John Snyder.

Delphine Vetsch

Services for Delphine C. Vetsch, 72, of rural Monticello, were Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at the Church of St. Albert in Albertville.

She is survived by children, Ron of Maple Grove, Dorothy (Ed) Brabec of Howard Lake, Betty (Phil) Horsch of Monticello, Patty (Gary) Lenz of Albertville, Loren (Kristin) of Browerville, Mark of Monticello, Marvin (Brenda) of Winsted and Keith of Monticello; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertila (Alfred) Barthel of Albertville, Norita DesMarais of Buffalo, Bernadine (Leo) Larson of Buffalo and Agnes (Joe) Marketon of Howard Lake; brother, Donald (Vangie) Kasper of Clear Lake; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by loving husband, Cletus A. Vetsch; daughter, Annette; son, Allen; parents; and two sisters and a brother.

Heartha C. Weiss

Services for Heartha C. Weiss, 85, of Rogers were Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Williams-Hanson-Kaun Funeral Home in Princeton.

She is survived by five children, Sigrun Posch, Sontrud Duke, Wolf-Dieter Pointner, Ingo Pointner and Bob Weiss; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and one brother.

Michael Benson

Services for Michael L. Benson, 30, of Chaska were Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea.

He is survived by parents, Bernie and Sally Benson of Albert Lea; brothers, Ronald A. (Peggy) of Albert Lea, Randy W. (Tracy) of Chanhassen; grandmother, Jean Lyons of New Hope; one nephew, two nieces; aunts, Lorie (Dale) Korpi of Maple Grove, Janny (Paul) Bartone, Lynnette (Ray) Love; and many cousins.

Frances S. Dalen

Services recently were hosted for Frances S. Dalen, 84, of Minneapolis. She died Sept. 15, 2002.

Mrs. Dalen is survived by daughter, Patti (Jim) Hanegan of Denver, Colo.; son, Jim (Joleen) Mallinger of Maple Grove; and niece, Dolly Bury and family of Minnetonka.

She was preceded in death by husband, Lyle Dalen.

Mark J. Douglas

Services for Mark J. Douglas, 29, of North Mankato, were Saturday, Sept. 21, at Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church.

Mr. Douglas died Sept. 18, and burial will be at a later date.

He is survived by mother, Charlene Douglas of Maple Grove; father Norman Douglas and his wife Judy of North Mankato; daughter, Ashly Schietel-Douglas and son, Alex Blaisdell-Douglas, both of Janesville; grandparents Ardis and Lloyd Wilkening of Mora and Raymond Douglas of Norton, Kan.; half-brother Brent Knopp of Las Vegas, Nev. and half-sister Sarah Knopp of Maple Grove, fiancee Brigette Glienke of Tucson, Ariz., four step brothers and sisters, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital Chemical Dependency program.

Thomas Paul First

Services for Thomas Paul First, 85, of Delano were Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano.

Father Michael Miller officiated. Pallbearers were Mr. First's grandchildren, Donald First, Daniel First, Timothy Leaf, Duane First, Dawn First and Joshua Leaf.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Mr. First died Sept. 14, 2002, at the Delano Health Care Center in Delano. He was born to Joseph and Helen (Strencha) First Jan. 15, 1917, in Coon Valley, Wis.

He married Clara Baldus and spent 46 years of marriage together. The First's made their home in Franklin Township, where they farmed on land that has been in their family for generations.

His hobby and passion in life was farming, and spending time with his family.

Mr. First was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen, granddaughter Darlene First, sister Alice Anderson, half-sisters Rose Peplinski and Eleanor Martine, and half brothers Joseph and Henry First.

He is survived by his wife, Clara, four children, Anthony and Adelle First, Marie and David Leaf, John First, and Thomas First; five granddaughters and five grandsons, and brother, George First.

Ludvina B. Glauvitz

Services for Ludvina B. Glauvitz, 69, of Osseo were Monday, Sept. 23, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with interment at Sunset Memorial Park.

Mrs. Glauvitz was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Christina Yamry; she is survived by husband, Norbert; daughters, Kathleen (Al) Anderson of Maple Grove, Karen (Larry) Frase of Albertville, Kristine (Keith) Simonson of Otsego, and Carol (Ken) Carlson of Big Lake; brother, Alponse Yamry; sister, Alice LeClaire; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

If so desired, memorials may be given to the Ludvina B. Glauvitz Memorial Fund.

Walter W. Hawkins

Services for Walter W. Hawkins, 95, of St. Michael and formerly of Hassan Township were at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. Rev. Bob Johnson officiated.

"Just a Closer Walk with Thee," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "Because He Lives" were sung as congregational hymns.

Mr. Hawkins died Monday, Sept. 16, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

He was born Jan. 24, 1907, in Hassan Township the son of William and Effie White Hawkins.

In 1925, Mr. Hawkins graduated from the University of Minnesota's School of Agriculture in St. Paul.

On Sept. 28, 1929, Walter Hawkins and Evelyn Martin were joined in holy marriage at the Martin family home near Rockford. Evelyn Hawkins preceded her Husband in death Oct. 28, 1970.

On Oct. 13, 1973, Mr. Hawkins was joined in holy marriage to Alice Martin Schaefer at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hassan Township.

Mr. Hawkins engaged in dairy farming in Hassan Township for 50 years.

He was a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hassan Township and a former active Hennepin County Farm Bureau member.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by wife, Alice Hawkins; sons, Richard (Frances) Hawkins of Dallas, Texas; Bruce (Debra) Hawkins of Elk River and Robert (LeeAnn) Hawkins of Great Falls, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his first wife, Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, William and Effie Hawkins; three sisters, and four brothers.

Arnold Haugdahl

Services for Arnold "Arnie" Haugdahl, 71, of Princeton were Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Princeton.

He is survived by wife, Nancy; daughter, Beth van den Berg (Wim), of Madison, Wis.; son, Scott (Nancy) of Eagan; grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew; stepsons, Tom (Sandy) and Steve (Rhonda) Bennyhoff, and their children Travis, Michelle, Kyle and Makenzie, all of Maple Grove; and brother, Gerald Haugdahl of Wisconsin.

William Kaiser

Services for William Kaiser, 64, of Champlin, were Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in Anoka.

He is survived by wife, Clare; son, David (Jean) Kaiser of Eagan; daughter, Julie (Perry) Broste of Brooklyn Center; granddaughter, Kiley Broste; sisters, Liz (Harold) Frost and Rose (James) Tocco, both of Michigan; brothers, Ken (Janet) Kaiser of Pennsylvania, Donald (Jackie) Warren of Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews; and canine companions, Roady and Bricky.

He was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Marie Kaiser; brothers, Charles and James Kaiser; and sister, Janie Zanot.

Gregory A. Kettler

Services for Gregory A. Kettler, 47, of Maple Grove were Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park, with burial in Lakewood Cemetery. He was a teacher for 23 years at Northview Junior High School in the Osseo school district.

He is survived by wife, Deborah; son, Brandon of Andover; step-children, Amy Erickson and Bryan Erickson, both of Maple Grove; mother, Jeanette Kettler Emerick and step-father Neil Emerick of Andover; brothers, Doug (Patti) of Ramsey, Paul (Nancy) of Plymouth; sister, Kris (Kevin) Hondl of Andover; and relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, George Kettler.

Sandra Kay Lubenow

Recent services for Sandra Kay Lubenow, 58, of Maple Grove were at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with interment at the St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

Mrs. Lubenow died Thursday, Sept. 19.

She is survived by parents, Edward Tucek and Gwendolyn (Poston) Tucek; husband James; daughter, Jamie and her fiancé Bryan Emerson; sons, Jack (Cathy) and Justin; sister, Judy; brother, Michael Tucek; grandchildren Samatha and Stephanie Patton.

Jerome Lyden

Services for Jerome Lyden, 80, of Roseville, were Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Kessler and Maguire Funeral Home in St. Paul, with burial in Elmhurst Cemetery.

He is survived by sister, Evelyn (Dave) Lavrinets of Oswego, Ill.; nieces, Sandy Bertram and Julie Wood of St. Francis, Jan (Greg) Gramith of Champlin, Sue (Matt) Kugler of Alexandria, Diane (Fred) Schwerdt of Wyomissing, Penn., Marilyn (Dave) Bruhbaker of Lititz, Penn., Joan (Mike) Dannenberg of Billings, Mont.; and nephews, Tom (Kim) Bertram of Rochester and David (Charlotte) Lavrinets of Longmont, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Bertram.

JoAnna McCormack

Services for JoAnna L. McCormack, 17 days, of Maple Grove were Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Corcoran.

She is survived by parents, John and Maura McCormack; brothers, Braden and Matthew; and sisters, Morgan and Brigid.
