Dale Petersen

Services for Dale L. Petersen, 62, of Minneapolis will be Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church, Champlin.

Pastor Eric Walbolt will officiate. Pallbearers will be Douglas Petersen, Daniel Rasmussen, Richard Petersen, Robert Petersen, Jan Puppe and Jon McCollum.

Interment will be Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Mr. Petersen died Oct. 11, 2002, at Regions Hospital, St. Paul. He was born July 28, 1940, in Minneapolis to Kenneth C. Petersen and Virginia L. (Nelson).

He was married to Janice L. (Norton) and was a branch manager at Merck, Sharp & Dohme Pharmaceutical.

Mr. Peterson is survived by children, Michelle (Daniel) Rasmussen, Douglas (Josie) and Denise Norton; grandchildren, Justin, Lindsey and Spencer Rasmussen, Ashley, Bennett and Meghan Petersen; mother, Virginia Petersen; brothers, Richard (Carol) and Robert; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, and father, Kenneth.

Gladness B. Sabanish

Services for Gladness B. Sabanish (Klucas), 85, of Buffalo, formerly of Watertown, were Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Delano.

Fr. Michael Miller officiated and interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Delano.

Pallbearers were Alan McMorran, Therese McMorran, James Naughton and Greg Manning.

Mrs. Sabanish died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo. She was born to William and Emma (Main) Klucas in Waverly.

She was a cook for many years, working at the Aqua Bowl and Ox Yoke Inn among others. She enjoyed working hard and helping on the family farm. Her hobbies consisted of growing a big garden, canning everything, crocheting, sewing and quilting. She enjoyed playing cards and especially she loved to dance. In later years the grandchildren were the love of her life.

For the past five years, Sabanish has battled Alzheimer's. During this time she made her home at Park View Care Center in Buffalo, where the staff made it a true home for her.

Mrs. Sabanish was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; son, James; daughter, Beatrice Salvog and son-in-law, Kevin Holte.

She is survived by daughters, Joyce (Greg) Manning, Jeanette (Alan) McMorran and Linda Holte; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Eldon (Mavis) Klucas; sister, Adeline Carr and special friend, Loren Jerde.

Dennis Springer

Services for Dennis E. Springer, 70, of Big Lake, were Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel in Monticello, with burial in Crown Cemetery in Crown, Minn.

He is survived by sons, Scott (Sue) of Big Lake, Dean (Linda) of Richfield; daughters, Cynthia (Dan) Dahele of Elk River, Gail Stein of Eagan, Julie (Samuel) Kaplin of Blaine; eight granddaughters; two step-grandsons; four step-great-grandchildren; significant other, Marlene Loehrs; sister, Karen (Dale) Lundeen of Isanti; sister-in-law, Doris Springer of Champlin; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Springer was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rhoda; infant son, Mark Steven; and brother, Cyrus.

Michael A. Rakow

Services for Michael A. Rakow, 45, of Champlin, were Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Advent Lutheran Church, 9475 Jefferson Highway, Maple Grove.

Mr. Rakow died Friday, Oct. 11.

He was born April 30, 1957, in Robbinsdale the son of Vince and Elaine Rakow.

He was a 23-year employee for the street department of the city of Minneapolis. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His passions were fishing and turkey hunting.

Mr. Rakow was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine, and grandparents.

He is survived by wife, Denise; daughters, Kate and Jennifer; father, Vince; brothers, Richard (Sharon), Dave (Ann); sisters, Nancy, Patricia (Cabot) Frenette; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorials are preferred to the Michael A. Rakow Memorial Fund.

Robert Von Ende

Services for Robert D. Von Ende, 63, of Rogers were Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

Rev. Steven C. Briel officiated.

Mr. Von Ende died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at his residence. He was born Aug. 3, 1939, in St. Michael the son of Albert and LaVerna Mastley Von Ende. He was baptized Aug. 20, 1939, at the Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. He was also confirmed in the Christian faith the Church of St. Vincent de Paul in Osseo May 23, 1953.

Mr. Von Ende and Ramona Loeffler were joined in holy marriage Aug. 18, 1979, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Excelsior.

He was a longtime tool and die maker and a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Church in Maple Grove.

He is survived by wife Ramona; mother, LaVerna Von Ende of Roseau; children, Paul (Jaunita) Von Ende of Golden Valley, Scott (Jolene) Von Ende of Peoria, Ariz., Bruce Von Ende of Waseca, Keith (Salve) Von Ende of Shakopee, Robert (Carol) Von Ende of St. Michael and Holly Von Ende of Rogers; eight grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Tony Von Ende and Rick (Wendy) Von Ende, all of Roseau, Mary Anne Von Ende of Gig Harbor, Wash., Patricia Hunter of Roosevelt and Karen (Norman) Johnson of Corcoran; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and by a brother, Donald.

Patrick Kittridge

Services for Patrick Kittridge, 39, of Dayton were Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at the Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Mr. Kittridge died Dec. 22, 2003, at his home from brain cancer. He was born March 16, 1964, in St. Cloud. He worked as a machinist at Bolt Industries.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy (Born); parents, Mike and Mary (Seppelt) Kittridge; grandparents, Bill and Clara Seppelt, and Helen Kittridge; brothers, Mike and Shawn; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jack Kittridge.

Gladys (Hartkopf) Setzler

A memorial service for Gladys Bernice (Hartkopf) Setzler, 78, was Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the Thunderbird Retirement Resort in Phoenix, Ariz.

She passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2003. She was born Feb. 5, 1925 in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Setzler also lived in Osseo for 50 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Dennis) Nygaard of Oceanside, Calif., Nancy (Ted Thurman) Iverson, and Sandra (Charles Conard) Setzler of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Robert W. Iverson, William, Dennis and Christopher Conard; brother-in-law, Bud (Mary) Setzler of Osseo; sister-in-law, Mary (Richard) Dornfeld of Plymouth; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Setzler is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, William Setzler.

She was a loving, devoted, loyal daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5111 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85250.

Erle H. Blanchard

Erle H. Blanchard, 92, of Brooklyn Center, formerly of East Chain died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, in Brooklyn Center.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Blanchard was born May 26, 1911, in Minneapolis to Henry and Anna Blanchard. He moved to East Chain at age six and graduated from East Chain High School in 1930.

He married Barbara Ruble, also of East Chain, in 1934. They lived in Minneapolis until 1938. They then returned to East Chain to farm until he retired in 1979. In 1994 they moved to Welcome.

In 1996 they resided year around in Arizona until Barbara's death in 1999. Mr. Blanchard then returned to Minnesota to be near family.

He is survived by his sons, Brian (Marilyn) of Maple Grove and Michael (Marilyn) of Atlantic, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Blanchard is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; two brothers and one sister.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to: East Chain Methodist Church or Sheriffs Youth Program, 2925 Buckley Way, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076.

Deanna Binger Earl

Memorial services for Deanna Binger Earl, 66, of Maple Grove were Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Lakewood Chapel in Minneapolis.

She died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at home surrounded by family and friends after a brave struggle with lung cancer.

Mrs. Earl was an RN who spent her entire 28 year career in the Emergency Dept. of North Memorial Medical Center where she served as head nurse, dept. head, supervisor, and from 1976 to 1985 as administrative coordinator, emergency medical services.

From 1970 to 1974 she was president of the Greater Twin City Emergency Dept. Nurses Association and from 1975 to 1979 served as vice president of the National EDNA Board of Directors.

With husband Steve, Mrs. Earl was an accomplished Birder and world traveler. In retirement, she also volunteered serving several years as president of the Minneapolis Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Stephan; step-daughter, Lisa (David) Zaic; step-son, Jeffrey Earl; brother, Leon (Kathy) Binger; and sister, Karen (Ron) Scott.

Mrs. Earl is preceded in death by her parents, Art and Eunice Binger; step-son, J. Eric Earl; and brother, Wynn Binger.

Memorials are preferred to the Minneapolis Area Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.

Cora E. Ewert

Services for Cora E. Ewert, 92, of Watertown, were Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Rev. Robert Ericson officiated and interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.

Mrs. Ewert died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Elim Home in Watertown. She was born Sept. 3, 1911 in Mayer, the daughter of Fred and Ernestine (Zabel) Harloff. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer.

On Sept. 29, 1932, she married John W. Ewert in Chaska. She worked at J.R. Clarke in Spring Park for many years. She was a very giving person and was loved by all who knew her. She and her husband moved to Arizona in 1978 and she moved back to Watertown in November of 2002.

She was preceded in death by husband, John W. Ewert; daughter, Carol Betker; parents, Fred and Ernestine Harloff; brothers, Alvin, Henry, Stanley, Pete and Clifford Harloff and sister, Agnes Sauerbrey.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Dottie Ewert of Savage; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Louis of Bloomington; son-in-law, Gaylyn Betker of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandson, Jeff Ewert of Bloomington; sister, Lorena Emerson of Osseo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Julia Eicher

Services for Julia Eicher, 86, were Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 1051 Como Ave., St. Paul.

Mrs. Eicher, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend, died peacefully surrounded by family Friday, Dec. 5. She was born in Elk River March 11, 1917.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a good part of their lives were spent working side by side as proprietors of a successful tavern and restaurant.

She is survived by daughters, Kathleen (Daniel) Sanders and Judith Bartoni; grandchildren, Rico Bartoni, Jessica Sanders and Jonathan Sanders; and brother, William Simon.

After the passing of her husband she lived with her younger daughter and grandson Rico, who were blessed and greatly influenced by her loving guidance and presence while growing up.

She left an imprint of love on everyone she touched. She loved life. In recent years she was a dialysis patient but her enthusiasm for living was undiminished by her frailty. She was a loving presence in her family's lives and will be remembered by her feisty spirit, generosity and great warmth.

She traveled the world, loved cruises, and was always ready to pack her bags for a new adventure. She moved to live near the ocean at the age of 82 with her daughter Judy. Recently they lived on a horse ranch enjoying life to the very end. She will be missed dearly.

Clarette Butler

Services for Clarette Butler, 92, of Champlin were Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at St. Gerard's Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park.

Interment was in St. Vincent de Paul cemetery in Osseo.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by husband, Harry.

She is survived by son, Thomas (Bonnie) Butler of Champlin; daughter, Mary Butler of St. Anthony Village; brother Clem (Julie) Rochford; sisters, Mary Waldbillig and Gertrude Vanda; grandchildren, Duane and Craig; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials to the Clarette J. Butler Memorial Fund.
