Eugene P. Scherrer
A memorial service for Eugene P. Scherrer, 72, of Maple Grove was Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral and Cremation Services in New Hope.
A private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will be at a later date.
Mr. Scherrer passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Billie; son, Michael (Joanne); daughter, Patricia (Tom) Wanous; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Brian and Erika Scherrer, and Krista Wanous; special nephew, Bill (Debbie) Scherrer; and brother, Raymond (Elizabeth).
Mr. Scherrer is preceded in death by his brother, Willard.
William H. Schmidt
Services for William H. Schmidt, 82, of Becker, formerly of Osseo will be today, Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Becker.
The interment was private.
Mr. Schmidt died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003. He was born May 20, 1921 in Osseo to William A. and Theresa (Wahl) Schmidt.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) McArdle May 20, 1943 in Anoka. He was a lifelong farmer, first in the Osseo area and then in the Becker area, since moving there in 1967. He continued to farm in Becker until 1981.
Mr. Schmidt is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty; sons, Norman (Mary), J. William (Eva), Michael (Marcia), Thomas (Judy), Robert (Shirley), Stephen, Richard; daughter, Theresa (Dennis) Pausch; 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother.
Francis A. Steffens
Services for Francis A. Steffens, 68, of Northeast Minneapolis were 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.
Rev. Michael Becker was the celebrant and interment with military rites followed at St. Michael Cemetery.
Casket bearers were David Steffens, Wayne Steffens, Jerry Steffens, Pete Steffens, James Mercier and Cal Varner.
Mr. Steffens died Thursday, Oct. 16, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. He was born July 7, 1935, in Frankfort Township, Wright County, the son of Charles and Dora Robeck Steffens.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Steffens was formerly employed for 19 years at Federal Cartridge and later for 10 years at Catholic Eldercare.
He is survived by children, Tammy, Cindy and Charlie; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Eunice Munson and Gloria Varner; a brother, Emmett "Sam" Steffens; sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Dora Steffens; a son, Francis Mark Steffens; brothers, Eugene, William, Norman and Lloyd Steffens.
Bernadette E. Vetsch
Services for Bernadette E. Vetsch, 78, of rural Monticello at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.
Rev. Peter Richards was the celebrant and interment followed at St. Albert's Cemetery.
Special music was provided by Alexis Middleton.
Todd, Doug and Bob Vetsch, Ken Barthel, Randy and Bill Pouliot served as casket bearers.
Mrs. Vetsch died Friday, Oct. 17, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. She was born April 7, 1935, in Otsego Township, Wright County, the daughter of Thomas and Evelyn Martin Hagel.
On April 23, 1946, Bernadette Hagel and Arnold Vetsch were joined in holy marriage at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.
She was employed for many years at the Wright County Retirement Center in housekeeping.
She was a life member of St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville. She also belonged to its Christian Mothers and to the Albertville Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Vetsch is survived by children, Arlan Vetsch of Cokato, Jim (Judy) Vetsch of Monticello and Beverly Vetsch of Maple Lake; grandchildren, Todd and Jennifer Vetsch; sisters and brothers, Orilla House and Donald Hagel, both of Robbinsdale, Elmer Hagel and Elma Pouliot, both of Otsego, and Eugene Hagel of Maple Grove; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold G. Vetsch; her parents, Thomas and Evelyn Hagel; and infant brother and two sisters.
Judith Wenzel
Services for Judith Wenzel, 60, were Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church.
Ms. Wenzel died Oct. 11 at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. She was born May 3, 1943, in Minneapolis to Leonard Koerner, Sr. and Sophie (Hilke).
Ms. Wenzel worked as the vice president of Field Engineering. She is survived by her husband, Marty; children, Nancy, Dave (Ann), Lynnette, Jeanette (Jerry), Lindsey; 10 grandchildren; mother, Sophie Koerner; brother, Lenny (Margie) Koerner; sister, Betty Guilmette; many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by father, Leonard Koerner, Sr.; and daughter, Carol Renee.
Pallbearers were Denise Wenzel, Joe Wenzel, Steven Wenzel and Len Koerner. Interment at the Champlin Cemetery.
Delbert O. Bjork
Services for Delbert O. Bjork, 73, were Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park.
Interment was at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Osseo.
Mr. Bjork died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, in Edina. He was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Duxbury.
He is survived by his children, Sherry Chanto (Bjork), Scott Bjork and Todd Bjork; nine grandchildren; brother and sisters; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Alice R. Grosnick
Services for Alice Ruth Grosnick, 85, of Osseo, formerly of Silver Bay, were Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Steelpoint Senior Community Center.
A private interment was at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Mrs. Grosnick died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, surrounded by her family.
She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a teaching degree and later with a nursing degree.
Mrs. Grosnick was a first lieutenant in the Army nurse corporation for two years, of which she spent six months at 24th station hospital in Jorhat Assam, India during 1944.
She is survived by her daughters, Catherine (James) Geurkink, and Margaret (Charles) Opp; son, Robert (Patricia) Grosnick; sisters, Elizabeth Rhinehardt and Helen Coulter; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Grosnick is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; and brother, John Detrich.
Lucille Jacobson
Services for Lucille Jacobson, 86, of Maranatha Nursing Home in Brooklyn Center will be Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Gethsemane Cemetery in the Chapel, 42nd and Winnetka in New Hope.
She died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at 3:25 p.m. at the Maranatha Nursing Home. She was born March 2, 1917, in Minneapolis.
Mrs. Jacobson's previous address was in the North Oaks Apartments where she was known as "Grandma Lucy".
She will be remembered for her love and compassion for children, animals, and helping the needy.
She is survived by her children, Nancy (James) Johnstone, Ken (Vicki) Jacobson, Mary (Timothy) Audette, and JoAnn (Mark) Zumberge Johnson; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jacobson is preceded in death by her sister, Florence; brother, Dick; former husband, Andy; and granddaughter, Regina Marie.

Spence E. Larsen
Services for Spence Ewing Larsen, 55, were Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Osseo United Methodist Church.
Interment was at Niggler Cemetery in Osseo.
Mr. Larsen died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, in Edina. He was born Oct. 29, 1947, in Minneapolis.
He touched many lives through his caring and kindness.
Mr. Larsen served on the board of directors of the Laura Baker School in Northfield and on many committees throughout his church and community.
He is survived by his twin sister, Susan (David) Brown of Brooklyn Park; aunt, Jane Spence of Osseo; and many cousins and special friends.
Mr. Larsen is preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. and Margaret Spence Larsen; and uncle, John Spence.
If so, desired memorials may be given to the Osseo United Methodist Church or the Laura Baker School.
Joel A. Teubert
Services for Joel Ann Teubert, 66, of Eden Prairie, formerly of Maple Grove, were Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Pax Christi Catholic Community in Eden Prairie.
Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Teubert was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was a former longtime teacher with the Anoka-Hennepin School District.
Mrs. Teubert is survived by her husband, Bill; daughters, Denise (Tim) Bentson, Kathy (Jim) Burns; grandchildren, Adam and Emily Bentson, baby Joe Burns; and other family members and friends.

Donald D. West
Services for Donald D. West, 75, of Maple Grove were Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home in New Hope.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Bill (Esther) West, Don (Donna) West, Brenda (Jeff) Stein, Sylvia (Larry) Doyle, DeAnne Schrier and Danny West; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Mae Sarzin, Darlene Enger and Delaine LaBelle.
Doris A. Bickle
Services for Doris A. Bickle, 75, of Chapelwood of Maple Grove, formerly of Richfield were Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Cedar Valley Church.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Mrs. Bickle was a beloved wife, mother and grandma to her family.
She is survived by her children, Larry, Linda, Diane, J.D.; 11 grandchildren; and brothers, William Jr. and Robert.
Mrs. Bickle is preceded in death by her husband, Roy; sisters, Marion and Mary.

Joan C. Chytracek
Joan C. (Axel) Chytracek, 71, passed away in Madison, Wis. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, following a lengthy illness.
She was raised in Osseo and graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1950 at Osseo High School. Mrs. Chytracek also graduated from Hamline University with honors in 1954.
Mrs. Chytracek served as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, and became an instructor at St. Mary's School of Nursing. She later joined the teaching faculty at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wis., where she remained until declining health forced her retirement.
Joan was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Living Christ in Madison for many years.
She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren, and a brother.
