Alfred Fricke

Services for Alfred Fricke, 93, of Bloomington, were Friday, Aug. 22, 2003.

Mr. Fricke was a retired commander in the U.S. Navy and a very active member of the Elks, VFW and American Legion.

He is preceded in death by wife, Muriel; and brother, Charlie. Survived by daughter, Dolores (Marvin) Tabor of Georgia, Carol Kozinski of Ill., Dolores (Leo)Braman of Bloomington, Marnell Wilber of Andover and son, Gordon (Sharon) Drake of Champlin.

Eileen Glavas

There were private services for Eileen N. Glavas, 71, of Albertville and formerly of Orono.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Viola Niewczyk of Bethpage, N.Y.; mother-in-law, Julia Glavas of Williston Park, N.Y., and father-in-law, H. Robert Glavas of Syracuse, N.Y.

Survived by loving husband, H. Robert Glavas, Jr.; their children, Deborah (Les) Peterson, Vanessa Glavas (Dirk Wells), Melissa Glavas (Jeff Webber) and H. Robert III (Christine) Glavas.

Loving grandmother to grandsons, Anthony, Matthew, Michael, Robert, Daniel and Lander; brother, Francis (Roselie) Niemczyk; sister-in-law, Diana Stolarz; niece, Jennifer Stolarz and many loving relatives and friends.

Memorials can be directed to Hospice Services, c/o Methodist Hospital 6500 Excelsior Blvd. St. Louis Park, MN 55416.

Edith Bertha Jenkins

Services for Edith Bertha Jenkins (Hirman), 99, of Maple Plain were Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at the Delano United Methodist Church.

Pastor James Beard officiated and interment was in Lewis Cemetery in Maple Plain.

Casket bearers were Ron Jenkins, Ron Olson, Bill Doherty, Dana Jenkins, Jesse Watson, Dusty DeMarais, Brad Dolinski, Dave Blackowiak and Rick Nelson.

Mrs. Jenkins died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, in Grand Forks, N.D. She was born July 25, 1904, in Motley, Minn., to Anton and Kate Hirman.

She was united in marriage to Ray F. Jenkins April 18, 1923. She was a member of Delano United Methodist Church, the ladies auxiliary to the VFW in Baudette, Minn., and the American Legion Auxiliary of Maple Plain. For the past three years she has lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Baudette. Her interests were a love of fishing, old time music and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ray; son, Norman; brothers, Gust, Edward and Raymond and sisters, Lila Swanson, Lillian Peterson and Rose Kaveney.

She is survived by son, Francis (Bev) Jenkins of Shawno, Wis.; daughter, Arlene (Harry) Peirce of Baudette; daughter-in-law, Deanna Jenkins of Maple Plain; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Mason Edward Jergens

Services for Mason Edward Jergens, 6, of Watertown were Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.

Concelebrating clergy were Rev. Frank Wampach, pastor of Immaculate Conception; Rev. Joseph Gallatin, pastor of St. Mary's of Czestochowa; and Rev. Edward Ardolf, great uncle to Mason and pastor of the Church of St. Paul in Nicollet, Minn.

Mason died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at his home in Watertown. He was born May 30, 1997, in Waconia to Sandy (Ardolf) and Kurt Jergens. He is brother to Zachary Eugene and Adam James; grandson of Dorothy Ardolf, formerly of Glencoe and the late Gene Ardolf and Arline and Neil Jergens of Glencoe.

Mason died after a two and one-half year battle with AML leukemia. He enjoyed Scooby Doo, animated movies, games, animals, swimming, fishing, the outdoors, playing ball and playing with his brothers, cousins and friends. He was entering the first grade at Watertown Elementary School and was a member of St. Mary's of Czestochowa in rural Delano.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, Gene Ardolf. He is survived by mother, Sandy Jergens; father, Kurt Jergens; brothers, Zachary and Adam; cousins; aunts; uncles and godparents.

Carter Johnson

Services for Carter Allan Johnson were Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church in Champlin, with Rev. Eric Walbot officiating.

Carter was born and died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at North Memorial Medical Center, in Robbinsdale.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Lisa (Vermeer) Johnson; and sister, Kailey, all of Champlin; grandparents, Paul and Carol Johnson of Pipestone; and Edgar and Lila Vermeer of Brandon, S.D.; aunts, Cynthia Wiest (Keven) of Rochester and Amy Maher (Mike) of Hutchinson; and cousins, Lucas and Nicolas Wiest, Makayla and Izabella Maher.

Interment was at the Champlin Cemetery.

Robert E. Kotarski

Services for Robert E. Kotarski, 81, of Maple Grove, formerly of St. Louis Park were Friday, Sept. 13, 2003, at the Washburn-McReavy Robbinsdale Chapel.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Kotarski passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003. He was a retired 40-year employee of Hitchcock Industries.

He was a WWII veteran and lifelong member of VFW Post 5632 of St. Louis Park.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Irene; son, Thomas R. (Melodie); grandchildren, Angela (Matt) Swanson, Iain Dickie, and Thomas C. Kotarski; great-grandson, Jay Swanson; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kotarski is preceded in death by his daughter, Diane; parents; one brother; and four sisters.

He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

Yvonne Kunze

Mass of Christian Burial Services for Yvonne Kunze, 56, of Champlin were Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Mrs. Kunze is survived by her husband, Joe; son, Scott (Kelly) of Prior Lake; daughter, Jennifer Kunze of Champlin; brother, John Kohrs of Red Wing; and sisters, Marlys Odeen of Illinois, Marilyn Diercks of Red Wing and Audrey Horn of Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leonora and Edward Kohrs.

Interment was at Gethsemane Cemetery. Memorials requested to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Gertrude T. Larson

Gertrude T. Larson, 82, of Maple Grove died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003.

Interment was at Crystal Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Larson is survived by her siblings, Yvonne Larson, Kenneth Larson Sr. and Stanley (Tomeko) Larson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be greatly missed by her many close friends from the Bungalow Inn and Wendy's.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bud, Marion, Curtis and Sandra.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Vernon C. Levine

Services for Vernon C. Levine, 92, of Maple Grove were Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park.

Interment was at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Levine died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 in New Hope. He was born Aug. 19, 1911 in Swanville/Upsala.

He is survived by his wife, Marcy; son, David of St. Cloud; brother, Adolph of Coon Rapids; granddaughters, Nancy (Jeff) Light of Rogers, and Laura (Todd) Zabel of West Fargo; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Myrtice Lieder

Services for Myrtice Audrey Lieder 79, of Loretto were Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield.

Rev. Dennis K. Strong officiated and interment followed at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

The organist for the funeral service was Jan Nelson, and Cindy Steinke sang "The Lord's Prayer." Congregational hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross," "I'm But a Stranger Here," "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden."

Casket Bearers were Paul Bushman, Dwayne Lieder, Darwin Koecher, Kevin Lieder, Alan Lieder and Todd Schleif.

Mrs. Lieder died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. She was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Rockford Township, Wright County, the daughter of Ray and Luella Wandersee Olson.

She was baptized July 9, 1938. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith July 10 1938, at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford by Rev. Samuel Baer. Her confirmation memory verse was Colossians 3:2

She graduated from Rockford High School in 1941. While in high school, she participated in basketball and the school play.

On Nov. 22, 1941, Myrtice A. Olson and Vernon W. Lieder were joined in holy marriage at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford by Rev. Samuel Baer. God blessed their marriage with a daughter, Diane.

The Lieders engaged in dairy farming in Greenfield for many years. Mr. Lieder preceded his wife in death Sept. 1, 1998.

She later was a volunteer at the Wise Penney Thrift Shoppe in Buffalo. She was always helpful to her family, other people and also her church.

Mrs. Lieder enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening, baking (was noted for her bars) and visiting on the telephone. She was known for her outgoing personality and great sense of humor. She was always the life of the party.

She was a faithful member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield.

She is survived by daughter, Diane (Ralph) Faue of Buffalo; granddaughters, Brenda (Robert) Oberlander of Buffalo and Julie (Daniel) Welter of Plymouth; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Karissa Oberlander; special friend, Eldon Schleif; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clifford (Eloise) Lieder of Robbinsdale and Glenard (Dorothy) Lieder of Brooklyn Center; further survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Christian Emil Olson Oct. 9, 1968; and her, mother, Luella Olson Feb. 22, 1978.

Laurie A. McClung

Services for Laurie A. McClung, 50, of Maple Grove were Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley.

Mrs. McClung is survived by her step-mother, Evelyn McClung; seven brothers and sisters; and four step-brothers and sisters.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond "Pat" and Helen McClung; and brother, John.

Cards may be sent to ACR Homes at 9324 Magnolia Ln. in Maple Grove.

Marguerite O. Melberg

Services for Marguerite O. Melberg, 86, of Champlin were Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at Champlin United Methodist Church.

Rev. Judy Myers officiated. Interment was at the Champlin Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim McVeigh, Lyall Stearns, Dale Swanson, Rob Swanson, Jason Vevea and Dale Weidner.

Mrs. Melberg died Tuesday, Aug. 26, at her daughter's residence. She was born May 21, 1917, in Oakes, N.D., to Paul and L. Belle (Swartout) Mindrum.

She was retired from Federal-Hoffman. Mrs. Melberg was a member of Champlin United Methodist Church, Champlin American Legion Auxiliary, Champlin Senior Citizens Club, Federal-Hoffman Women's Golf League and Women's 20 year club, and member and director of the Anoka Choraliers.

Mrs. Melberg is survived by her son, John (Sue) Melberg of Faribault; daughters, Roberta (Loren) Swanson, Judith (Donald) McVeigh, all of Big Lake, Terri (Dan) Vevea of Nowthen; step-daughters, June Schumann and Betty Reinhart, both of Anoka; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd R. Bowers and Jason M. Melberg.

Cheryl K. Molacek

Services for Cheryl K. Molacek, 57, of Maple Grove were Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park.

Interment was in Lake Park.

Mrs. Molacek died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003. She was an employee of Boston Scientific Sci-Med.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Richard; sons, James and Jason; brothers, Jerry (Connie), Arnie (Andrea), and Daryl (Peggy) Wetzstein; sister, Ellen (Leroy) Bergman; special uncle, George (Gloria) Wetzstein; numerous relatives and friends.
