Steven R. Hooper
Memorial service for Steven R. Hooper, 59, of Maple Grove was Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Hopkins United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hooper was the territorial manager of the Keebler Company.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Robin Hooper of Minneapolis, Anthony Hooper of Maple Grove, Timothy (Stacey) Nelson of Plymouth, Carrie (Keith) McKellips of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dalton and Nicholas McKellips, Brady and Abigail Nelson; mother, Ruth Hooper of Hopkins; brothers, Harry (Marty) Hooper of Brainerd, Dale (Judith) Hooper of Lakeville; sister, Barbara (John) McCashin of Minnetonka; nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bonnie (Jan) Bruinooge of Maple Grove and Stephen Zemke of Blaine.
Mr. Hooper is preceded in death by his father, Gilbert.
The interment was private. Memorials are preferred.
Richard John Klaers
Services for Richard John Klaers, 77, of Independence, were Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto.
Fr. Brian Fier officiated and interment was in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Loretto.
Pallbearers were grandchildren, Ryan McGarry, Stacy McGarry, John Zitzloff, Julie Zitzloff, Jason Zitzloff, Nick Anderson, Katie Anderson, Beth Anderson, Derek Honebrink, Jared Honebrink and Aaron Klaers.
Mr. Klaers died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born May 15, 1925 to Joseph H. and Irene (Maloney) Klaers in Independence.
He farmed his entire life on the farm he was born on. He was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto. He was also a lifelong member of the Catholic Aid. Over the years, Mr. Klaers has served as an usher at church as well as helping out in a variety of different ways with the church and cemetery. He was known as being a kind and gentle man. He liked to work with wood, crack butternuts and travel. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by twin infant sons, Joseph and Michael and parents, Joseph H. and Irene (Maloney) Klaers.
He is survived by wife Eileen of 50 years; daughters, Judy (Kevin) McGarry, Jeanne (Gary) Zitzloff, Mary Jo (Craig) Anderson and Janice (Dean) Honebrink; son, Randy (Colleen) Klaers; 11 grandchildren; brothers, James (Gerry) Klaers, Donald (Meg) Klaers and twin brother, Raymond (Bernie) Klaers and sister, Dolores James.
Jerome Kolles
Services for Jerome A. Kolles, 77, of Albertville were at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003, at the St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.
Rev. Peter Richards and Rev. Michael Becker were the concelebrants. Interment followed at St. Albert's Cemetery.
Mr. Kolles' seven sons and son-in-law served as casket bearers.
Mr. Kolles died Sunday, March 16, at the Parkview Care Center in Buffalo. He has been a resident of Parkview for the past six years.
He was born July 25, 1925, in Otsego, the son of Leo and Flora Schumacher Kolles.
On July 1, 1947, Jerome A. Kolles and Valeria Roden were joined in holy marriage. God blessed their marriage with 10 children.
Mr. Kolles engaged in farming for many years and also worked in construction.
He was a lifelong member of St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.
Mr. Kolles is survived by wife, Valeria "Larry" Kolles; children, Eugene (Jane) Kolles, Mark (JoAnn) Kolles, Richard Kolles, Dale (Roberta) Kolles, Charles (Maureen) Kolles, Bruce (Amie) Kolles, Terese (Philip) Gammell and Adrian (Jackie) Kolles; 25 grandchildren; a brother and sisters, Allan (Elaine) Kolles, Sr. DeLourdes, OSF; Lorraine Lock and Geraldine (Joe) Barsody; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by daughters, Cecilia and Mary Kolles and three grandsons.
Bobby Lee
Services for Bobby Lee, 75, were at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dayton Thursday, March 13, 2003.
Interment was at St. John's Parish Cemetery in Dayton.
On Monday, March 10, Mr. Lee, 75, passed peacefully into God's hands after his long battle with cancer. He was born in St. Paul May 7, 1927.
Mr. Lee was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed his family and friends and gave much to everyone he met.
He was in the military for seven years, serving in WWII and the Korean War.
He was an individual who was truly defined by his family and the ever-growing circle of friends that he kept.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Doris (Berning); sons, David (Lois)of Elk River; Mark (Julie)of Sparks, Nev.; and daughter, Patricia of Robbinsdale; grandchildren, Matthew, Luke, Garrett, Jacob, Mackenzie, Jonathan and Magadalene; and many close friends.
August Marschel
August Fredrick Marschel died on March 5, 2003, at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo, Minnesota.
He was born on May 9, 1911, in Buffalo Township, the youngest of five sons of Herman and Lena (Wagner) Marschel.
Pastor Gerhard Hinnenthal at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Pelican Lake baptized August on June 25, 1911. He was then instructed in the Lutheran faith and confirmed by Pastor C. J. Schrader also at Immanuel on May 31, 1925.
By staying with relatives in the city of Buffalo, August was able to graduate from Buffalo High School with a class of 30 in 1930.
On February 28, 1938, August and Helen Vergin were joined in holy matrimony at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford, Minnesota. God blessed this union with three sons and two daughters. Helen preceded him in death in December of 1992.
Living on the home farm of his wife's family, August and Helen engaged in the Guernsey dairy business. August was the DeKalb seed corn distributor in the area and sold insurance for Hassan Mutual for many years. He was always interested in preserving wildlife and was active in the NRA and the Hanover Rod and Gun Club.
After marrying Helen, August became a member of Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rockford and served in various capacities on the Church Council. He was a faithful member attending church as often as physically possible with one of his children.
August moved to the assisted living quarters of Sunrise in Buffalo in November of 1995. He enjoyed the acquaintances and activities there. In November of 2001, he moved to the Park View Care Center.
He is survived by Darlene (Harlan) Bechtold, Loren (Judy) Marschel, Sandi Holan, Howard (Gloria) Marschel, and Kevin (Paulette) Marschel. Grandchildren are Lisa (Joseph) Siers, Brenda (Douglas) Berkenes, Daniel (Laurie) Peikert, Philip Peikert, Ron (Karen) Marschel, Wendy (Dean) Holmstrom, Pamela (Jon) Thaemlitz, Rebecah (Dean) Torgerson, Paul (Kate) Peikert, Scott (Laurie) Bechtold, Mark (Teresa) Bechtold, Kirk Marschel and Erik Marschel. Twenty-four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive him. He is further survived by John (LaVerne) Loescher and LaVonne (Wallace) Erickson and their families.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Herbert, Leonard, Theodore, and Arthur.
Funeral services were held on March 10, 2003 at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford. Pastor Barlow officiated and interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery at Rockford. Janet Beise served as organist for the service. The Cross L.I.G.H.T.S. served a lunch after the service.
Friends called at the church from 4 until 8 the evening preceding the funeral service.
Daniel Peikert, Philip Peikert, Ron Marschel, Paul Peikert, Scott Bechtold and Mark Bechtold served as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Kirk and Erik Marschel.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, Minnesota handled the arrangements.
Thomas R. Montan
Services for Thomas R. Montan, 46, of Maple Grove, were Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Washburn-McReavy Northeast Chapel in Minneapolis.
Mr. Montan passed away peacefully Monday, March 24, 2003.
He is survived by his sons, Chris, Andrew and Matthew; parents, Robert and Delia; sister, Nancy (Leonard) Floberg; brothers, Gerald (Andrea) and James; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Memorials are preferred to the ALS Society.
Randy Overby
Randy A. Overby, age 47, of Clear Lake, died accidentally on Saturday, March 8, 2003.
He was born on March 17, 1955 in Minneapolis the Son of Duane D. & Leona M. Johnston Overby.
Randy honorably served his Country in the United States Army and was employed for many years as a truck driver.
Survived by his Wife: Margie; Sons: Scott, Adam & Ryan; a Grandson: Koleten; a Niece: Jessica; his Parents: Duane & Leona; a Brother and Sister-in-law: Wayne & Marcy; Nephews: Shawn & Troy; other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by a Brother: Lary Overby.
Funeral Services for Randy Overby will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at the Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. Father Leonard Siebenaler will officiate.
Friends may call at the Church on Thursday, March 13 from 4:00 p.m. until time of service.
Nancy E. Majava
Burial for Nancy E. Majava, 69, took place Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at the Broward County Memorial Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Mrs. Majava had requested for no reviewal and no funeral.
She died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Broad Lee Nursing Home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Mrs. Majava had been a heavy smoker most of her life and as a result, suffered for 22 months from a bad case of Emphysema and heart troubles.
Mrs. Majava is survived by her husband, Albert W. Majava, who is the brother-in-law of Karl J. Hill of Maple Grove; step-son, Fred (Susan) A. Majava; and daughter, Gail of Tallahassee, Fla., from her first marriage.
Francis Pettit
Francis T. Pettit, age 94, of Corcoran died Monday, March 3, 2003 at Haven Homes in Maple Plain.
He was born on August 19, 1908 in Loretto the Son of Edward M. & Gertrude Huster Pettit.
On October 11, 1928, Francis T. Pettit & Esther F. Stubbs were joined in holy marriage at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Corcoran. God blessed their marriage with three children. Together Mr. & Mrs. Pettit farmed for many years near Corcoran.
He was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Corcoran.
Survived by Children: Lawrence E. Pettit of Miles City, Montana, Shirley Harff of Loretto & Phyllis (Chuck) Meister of Plymouth; eleven Grandchildren; twenty-three Great Grandchildren; a Special Brother-in-law: George Rasmussen of Maple Plain; Sisters-in-law: Ethel Sullwold of Hopkins & Marge Rasmussen of Maple Plain; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by Wife: Esther Pettit on March 10, 1993, a Son-in-law: Wilferd L. Harff, his Parents, a Sister: Irene Rush & six Brothers: Joseph, Clem, Andrew, George, Martin & Richard Pettit.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis Pettit was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Corcoran. Father George R. Kinney was the Celebrant and interment followed at St. Jeanne de Chantel Cemetery.
Lori Patnode was the soloist for the Mass.
Friends called on Thursday, March 6 at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. A Prayer Service was held at 7:00 p.m.
Casket Bearers were Chad Pettit, David Meister, Rodger Jorges, Rick Pettit, Tom Treptau & Dick Stubbs.
Randalyn Radke
Services for Randalyn Radke, 80, Minneapolis, formerly of Champlin were held Wednesday, March 12 at the Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Radke was born October 11, 1922 in Minneapolis to James Miller and Jeanette (Randall), and died on March 7, 2003 at her daughter's home in Champlin.
She was married to Loren A. Radke and worked as a homemaker.
Radke was preceded in death by her husband, Loren A. Radke. Survived by her children, L. James (Joan), Punky Jackson, Eric (Sue), Ella Jean; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret McAnaney.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Genevieve Rambow
Services for Genevieve M. "Jenny" Rambow, 81, of Osseo were Sunday, March 9, 2003, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.
Interment was at St. John's Cemetery.
Mrs. Rambow died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in New Hope. She was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Union Hill.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Ronald) Kohnen, Dennis (Patrice) Rambow, and Donald (Connie) Rambow; grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, Jeffrey, Kelly, Sara, Jamie and Amanda; great-grandchildren, William, Rebecca and Jared; siblings, Roman (Betty) Schommer, Susan Benson, Rosie (Gerald) Dykhoff, Rita (Robert) Pepin, Francis (Germaine) Schommer and BettyAnn Farr; brothers-in-law, Erwin Arens and Roland Rambow; sisters-in-law, Bernice Gelle and Mary Jane Schommer; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; siblings, John, Joe, Leo, Marie, Dorothy and Louise.
Rodney Ruffenach
Services for Rodney A. Ruffenach, 83, of Maple Grove were Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Church of St. Anne in Hamel.
He was a member of the IBEW Local 292, Father William Blum Council of the Knights of Columbus 3656 and a Definitively Profession Member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapter.
Mr. Ruffenach is survived by his daughter, Joyce Fellner; sons, Michael (Maryellen) Ruffenach and Joel Ruffenach; grandchildren, Leslie and Brian Ruffenach, Jonathon and Jeffrey Fellner; brother, Robert Ruffenach; nieces and a nephew.
Memorials are preferred to the Carmelite Monastery.
