Judy Hackenmueller

Services for Judy Ann Hackenmueller, 53, of Rogers were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.

Rev. Paul R. Settergren officiated and interment followed at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

Colleen Johnson was the organist for the funeral service. Theresa Celander was the soloist and she sang "The Wind Beneath My Wings." "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" were sung as congregational hymns.

Troy Hudson, Bill Schmidt, Michael Schmidt, Scott Barthel, Steve Barthel and Steve Field served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Hackenmueller died Friday, Feb. 21, at her residence. She was born May 13, 1949, in Anoka the daughter of William and Ruth Fairbairn Schmidt.

She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1967.

On June 14, 1969, Judy A. Schmidt and James J. Hackenmueller were joined in holy marriage at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Anoka. God blessed their marriage with two children.

Judy was employed at Swanson Tool & Dye in Rogers until she became ill. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.

She is survived by husband, James J. Hackenmueller; children, Anne (Steven) Freund and Aaron Hackenmueller; grandchildren, Dylan and Brianna; her mother, Ruth Schmidt, all of Rogers; sisters and brothers, Mari I. Kuhnley of Arizona, William V. (Kathy) Schmidt of Buffalo, Diana L. (Lee) Reinking of Brooklyn Park, David M. (Marian) Schmidt of Rogers and Kathy M. (David) Rognlien of Maple Grove; mother-in-law, Edna M. Hackenmueller; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane (Willard "Willie") Barthel, all of Hanover; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by father, William F. Schmidt; a brother, Gary Schmidt; a sister, Valerie Schmidt; and her father-in-law, Harold Hackenmueller.

Maurice 'Maury' Hayes

Services for Maurice Patrick "Maury" Hayes, 71, of Maple Plain, were Saturday, March 1, 2003 at St. George's Catholic Church in Long Lake.

Rev. Timothy Dolan officiated and interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Pallbearers were Andy Erickson, Matt Erickson, Chad Erickson, Chris Gawtry, Tom Lynch, Rick Connelly, Brad Hayes and Jeff Hayes. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Schaar, Tim Schaar, Mike Hayes, Donald Hayes, David Hayes, Rick Hayes, Pat Hayes, Scott Hayes, Jim Hayes and Jack Hayes.

Mr. Hayes died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at his home in Maple Plain. He was born Sept. 5, 1931 to Andrew and Josephine (Rogers) Hayes in Montrose.

He was employed by Onan for more than 30 years. He was active in the Maple Plain American Legion Paul Stinson Post 514 and the St. George Knights of Columbus Fr. William Nolan Council 12293.

He was preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Josephine; brothers, Richard, Joseph and Kevin; sister, Virginia Lynch and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clarence and Dorothy Connelly.

Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife Marion of 46 plus years; daughters, Mary (Rodger) Erickson, Marie Hayes, Terry (Jim) Gawtry, Pam Hayes and Melissa (Rick) Swanson; son, Mark (Annie) Hayes; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Cliff (Jean) Hayes and Gene (Janet) Hayes; sister, Pat (George) Schaar; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Hayes, Marian Hayes, Shirley Hayes and Dick and Carol Connelly.

Mildred Kjelland

Services for Mildred "Milly" Kjelland, formerly of Champlin and most recently of Sacramento, Calif.

She will be buried next her husband, Roy at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Kjelland died peacefully, Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, of complications from Parkinson's disease at her daughter's home in Sacramento, with her children at her side.

She is survived by her children, Dan (Theresa) Kjelland, Dorothy (Phillip) Horning, Elizabeth (Ken) Sjulstad, John Kjelland, and Jaymee Kjelland; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kjelland is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Kjelland; and great-granddaughter, Lily Donovan.

Mason Bagley Maass

Services for Mason Bagley Maass, 13 days, were Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at Buffalo United Methodist Church.

Mason died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003. He was born Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003.

He is survived by parents, Tim and Julia (Prosser) Maass; grandparents, Claire Baxter and Ken Schrag, Dan Prosser, Bob and Diana Maass, Mary Margaret Carroll and Paul Faltisek; great-grandmothers, Julianna Meyer, Janet Maass and Clarice Schrag; great-grandparents, Robert and Irene Baxter and David and Margaret Prosser; aunts and uncles, Katie and Monty Myler, Betsy and Nick Schrag, Geoff and Renee Maass and Brian and Lisa Maass; cousins, Grace Myler and Samantha, Amanda and Kaitlin Maass.

William Shipton

Memorial service for William Shipton, 86, of Maple Grove, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, was Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Rose Arbor at Chapelwood in Maple Grove.

Interment will be in Marshalltown, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; son, William C. Shipton; daughter, Susan (Tom) Mickelson; grandchildren, Jeremy (Teresa) Mickelson, Molly (Matt) Weidinger, Anne Mickelson and Steve Mickelson; great-grandson, Owen William Mickelson; sisters, Raena Wilhau and Vivian Trickey; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Shipton is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Seleine.

Madge Beamish

Services for Madge E. Beamish, 81, of Loretto were Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano.

Father Frank Wampach officiated with Karen Otto providing music. Pallbearers were Madge's grandsons, David Beamish, Howard Beamish, Jason Beamish, Jared Beamish, Kenneth Beamish and Martin Beamish.

Interment was in Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Beamish died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003. at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. She was born Feb. 16, 1922, to Howard S. and Alma (Duncan) Hull in Cherokee County, S.C.

As a teenage girl, Madge accompanied an aunt to West Virginia, where she would eventually meet her husband, Harold. They met one day, and married the next. They immediately moved to Minneapolis where Howard was a civilian aviation instructor. They lived above Beamish's Bar in Minneapolis until duty called Howard to Tucson, Ariz. While in Arizona, in 1943 their first child was born, a daughter, Carol.

After Howard's assignment was completed, the family moved back to Minnesota and shortly afterward a baby boy, Bill, was born in 1946. At this point, the family moved to a farm in Loretto in order to be closer to their new business venture, The Silver Dollar Bar. At this point a third child, Todd, was born in 1960. In 1968, Madge started a new business, the B & C Exchange in Buffalo, which she operated for over 30 years.

Madge was known as a strong, independent, warm, fun, and caring women. Family was the most important thing to her. She had a unique way of making those around her feel valued and respected.

Mrs. Beamish was preceded in death by her husband, Howard. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Wendling and Adrian Foss; sons, William and Jacqueline Beamish, and Todd and Barbara Beamish; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Neal and Jean Martin.

Mildred Brenny

Services for Mildred C. Brenny, 97, of Osseo, formerly of Brooklyn Center, were Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at River of Life Lutheran Church.

Interment was at Crystal Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Brenny is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; and parents, Carl and Anna Samson.

Shirley Skaar Brown

Shirley Ione (Skaar) Brown age 78 of Loretto, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. She was born July 26, 1924 to Edwin S. and Irene A. (Woodrich) Skaar in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Shirley was a very active individual, she was very involved with her church, Christian Women's Association and helped lead a Grief Group. Shirley loved to travel, spend time with her family. She was an excellent cook and baker.

Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Darr. She is survived by her husband Clyde, of 58 years. Sons, Todd and Linda Brown, and Terry and Paula Brown. One daughter Kathy and Randy Swanson. Seven grandchildren and seven great Grandchildren. Sister Mardell and Milton Petersen.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 24, 2003 at Our Father's Lutheran Church in Rockford, MN. Visitation was Sunday evening at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. Pastor Larry Rehlander officiated at a 6:30 p.m. prayer service as well as the funeral service on Monday. Monica Mendez organist, and Peggy Janisch soloist provided music with congregational singing. Pallbearers were Mark Austin, Terry Brown, Randy Swanson, Jon Hayes, Jeremy Cox, and Mike Kenny.

Interment was in the Delano Public Cemetery in Delano, Minnesota.

Arrangements by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.

Lorena Vollrath Georges

Services for Lorena Marie Strehler Vollrath Georges, 88, of Hanover were Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Pastor Dennis K. Strong officiated and interment followed at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Cindy Steinke was the organist for the funeral service. "What God Ordains Is Always Good," "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "Amazing Grace-How Sweet the Sound" were sung as congregational hymns.

Casket bearers were Brent Vollrath, Jason Vollrath, Barry Vollrath, Shane Vollrath, Jeff Vollrath and Bethany Marquardt.

Mrs. Georges died Friday evening, Feb. 14, 2003, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. She was born April 2, 1914, in Corcoran the daughter of William and Rosa Tessmer Strehler.

Lorena was baptized April 26, 1914 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood Township, Hennepin County, by Rev. William Haar Sr. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith by the Rev. Haar Sr. April 10, 1927. Her confirmation memory verse was John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

On June 22, 1937, Lorena Strehler and Lorenz Vollrath were joined in holy marriage. God blessed their marriage with three sons. Lorenz Vollrath preceded his wife in death March 12, 1970.

On April 27, 1974, Lorena Vollrath and Jerome W. Georges were joined in holy marriage. Jerome Georges preceded his wife in death on April 29, 1997.

She was a faithful member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield and its Ladies Aid. Lorena also belonged to Hanover's Golden Age and was very active at The Wise Penney Thrift Shoppe in Buffalo.

She is survived by children, Ronald Vollrath of Maple Plain, Jerald (Peggy) Vollrath of Corcoran and Darven Vollrath of St. Michael; grandchildren, Brent, Jason and Barry Vollrath; Shane (Kimberly) Vollrath, Jeffrey (Kari) Vollrath and Bethany (Bradley) Marquardt; sisters and a brother, Elizabeth Meyer of Monticello, Arlene Finke of Plymouth and Arnold (Gerane) Strehler of Monticello.

Also survived by special friends, Lois DeJong and Leona Schmid; other relatives and friends including Evangeline Vollrath.

In addition to her husbands, Lorena was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Elmer Strehler; and sisters, Edna Lieder and Hildegard Kohnen.

Donald Gladson

Services for Donald D. "Don" Gladson Sr., 77, of Underwood, formerly of Osseo, were Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at St. James Episcopal Church in Fergus Falls. Rev. Wanda Copeland officiated.

Mr. Gladson died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 at his home under hospice care. He was born on June 24, 1925, in Lowell, Neb., to William F. and Laura G. (Sheldon) Gladson.

Mr. Gladson was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

On Jan. 12, 1947, he married Jan Beinert in Lincoln, Neb. In 1984 he retired from the insurance department of the NorWest Bank of Osseo.

For the last 30 years he and his wife have owned and operated the Whispering Waters Resort on East Lost Lake.

He was a member of the North Star Masonic Lodge, Lincoln, Neb., for more than 55 years. In addition he was a director with the Ottertail Country Tourism Association, a director of the Minnesota Heartland Tourism Association, and a member of the Minnesota Resort Association.

Mr. Gladson is survived by his wife, Jan; daughters, Linda (Dan) Hageseth of Elk River and Nancy (Dave) Houtkooper of Lakeville; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Pierson of Brantwood, Wis.; grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Bladine, Benjamin Houtkooper, Bobbie Bladine, Benjamin Hageseth, Scott Gladson, Eric Gladson, Adam Houtkooper, and Matthew Hageseth; great-grandson, Blake Donald Bladine; sister, Waunetta Cutting of Concord, N.H., and many wonderful friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Donald D. Gladson, Jr., and his parents.

Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice of Fergus Falls, the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children, Fremont, Neb., or the charity of your choice.

Lawrence Hagel

Services for Lawrence A. Hagel, 85, of Elk River and formerly of Hanover were Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Elk River.

Mr. Hagel died peacefully surrounded by his family at Guardian Angels Care Center Feb. 8.

He is preceded in death by his father, John. He is survived by loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Lavina; children, Terri Jones, Tom (Bonnie), Edward, John (Kathryn) Marie (John) Muller, Catherine (Craig) Johnson, Roland, Armella (Ray) Ott and Mary Ann Hagel; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his mother, Catherine Hagel; seven brothers; three sisters; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Curt Hennig

Services for Curtis Michael Hennig, 44, of Champlin were Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at the Church of St. Stephen in Anoka.

Mr. Hennig is survived by his loving wife, Leonice; children, Joe, Amy, Kaite and Hank; parents Larry and Irene; brothers and sisters, Randy (Nanette), Sandra Scepurek, Susan Strain (Miles), Jesse (Kara); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Lloyd Leonard (Geraldine); many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family to establish a trust for the children.

Susan Horsager

Services for Susan Horsager (Schwappach) of Maple Grove were Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Maple Grove.

Mrs. Horsager died Friday, Feb. 14.

She is survived by her husband, John; mother, Jean Schwappach; sisters and brothers, Gretchen (Kevin) Finley and their children, Erin and Adam, Dorothy (Alan) Morrison, Roy Schwappach Jr., Nancy Schwappach, Larry (Sue) Schwappach and their children Patrick and Anne Marie, John (Carla) Schwappach and their children Alex, Carl, Joey, and Walker, Margaret (Kirk) Todd, Tim (Laurie) Schwappach and their child Logan, and Jeanie Schwappach.

Mrs. Horsager is preceded in death by her father, Roy A. Schwappach.

Memorials are preferred to the MS Society of Minnesota.
