Adeline B. Brenny

Services for Adeline B. Brenny, 81, of Robbinsdale will be Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park.

Mrs. Brenny died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, in New Hope.

She was born March 26, 1921, in Duluth.

Mrs. Brenny is survived by her children, Barbara Jeppesen of Robbinsdale, Donna (Sonny) Pyka of Minneapolis, Kathy Montague of Maple Grove, Joseph (Diana) Brenny of Corcoran, Michael Brenny of Westminster, Calif., Janet Erickson of Robbinsdale, Patrick (Bonnie) Brenny of Northfield, and Jeffrey (Madonna) Brenny of Brooklyn Center; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Adeline B. Brenny Memorial Fund.

Sheryl L. Belanger-Dykmann

Services for Sheryl Lynn Belanger-Dykmann, 39, of Maple Grove were Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota.

Mrs. Dykmann is survived by her husband, Troy; parents, Marilyn and Gene of Anoka; sisters, Chris (Phil) Dittes and Suzie (Rick) Auda; brother, Brad; grandmother, Anne; niece, Tessa; Troy's parents, David and Melody Dykmann of Hickman, Neb.; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials are preferred to the family.

Donald Gladson

Services for Donald D. "Don" Gladson Sr., 77, of Underwood, formerly of Osseo, were Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at St. James Episcopal Church in Fergus Falls. Rev. Wanda Copeland officiated.

Mr. Gladson died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 at his home under hospice care. He was born on June 24, 1925, in Lowell, Neb., to William F. and Laura G. (Sheldon) Gladson.

Mr. Gladson was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

On Jan. 12, 1947, he married Jan Beinert in Lincoln, Neb. In 1984 he retired from the insurance department of the NorWest Bank of Osseo.

For the last 30 years he and his wife have owned and operated the Whispering Waters Resort on East Lost Lake.

He was a member of the North Star Masonic Lodge, Lincoln, Neb., for more than 55 years. In addition he was a director with the Ottertail Country Tourism Association, a director of the Minnesota Heartland Tourism Association, and a member of the Minnesota Resort Association.

Mr. Gladson is survived by his wife, Jan; daughters, Linda (Dan) Hageseth of Elk River and Nancy (Dave) Houtkooper of Lakeville; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Pierson of Brantwood, Wis.; grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Bladine, Benjamin Houtkooper, Bobbie Bladine, Benjamin Hageseth, Scott Gladson, Eric Gladson, Adam Houtkooper, and Matthew Hageseth; great-grandson, Blake Donald Bladine; sister, Waunetta Cutting of Concord, N.H., and many wonderful friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Donald D. Gladson, Jr., and his parents.

Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice of Fergus Falls, the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children, Fremont, Neb., or the charity of your choice.

Bernice Jernander

Services for Bernice T. Jernander, 86, of Minnetonka were Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at the Wasburn-McReavy Northeast Chapel in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Jernander is survived by her daughters, Connie (John) Benson of Henderson, Nev., and Carol Miller of Osseo; grandchildren, Vicki Benson, Christopher (Peg) Benson, Jamie (Matt) Wendt, Heidi Miller, and Scotty Miller; great-grandbaby-to-be, Benson; cousin, Elsie Nodholm; Jim Miller; many friends, neighbors, the Fairview Hospice Team, and Berkshire Residence staff.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; and brother, Vitalis Soderman.

Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or the Humane Society.

Hildegard Kohnen

Services for Hildegard Rosa Kohnen, 85, of Loretto were Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield.

Rev. Dennis K. Strong officiated and interment followed in the church cemetery.

Jan Nelson was the organist for the funeral service. "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Jesus, Lead Us On" and "Jesus Shall Reign Where'er the Sun" were sung as congregational hymns.

Casket bearers were Samuel Lemmage, a grandson; Gaylerd Lieder, a nephew; Kenneth Meyer, a nephew; Donald Strehler, a godson; Lyle Strehler, a godson; and Jerald Vollrath, a nephew.

Mrs. Kohnen died Thursday, Jan. 23, at Haven Home in Maple Plain.

She was born March 15, 1917, the daughter of William E. and Rosa Tessmer Strehler.

On April 5, 1917, she was baptized at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood. She remained faithful to the promises she made at her confirmation and was a lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

On June 15, 1938, Hildegard R. Strehler and Ervin C. Kohnen were joined in holy marriage at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. W. P. Haar Jr. Together the couple operated a dairy farm in Greenfield for many years and retired in Delano in 1976. They lived in Delano until 1988 when they moved to Plymouth. Ervin Kohnen preceded his wife in death July 15, 1992.

Mrs. Kohnen was a longtime member of Salem's Ladies Aid.

She is survived by children, Loren E. (Joanne) Kohnen of Corcoran and Lee Ann C. Rippentrop of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Heidi (Dan) Cook of Independence, Heather Estby of Long Lake and Samuel (Amanda) Lemmage of Rogers; a great-granddaughter, Anna Cook; sisters and a brother, Lorena Georges of Hanover, Elizabeth Meyer of Monticello, Arlene Finke of Plymouth and Arnold (Gerane) Strehler of Monticello; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helen Applequist and Lucille (Everett) Thies, all of Mesa, Ariz.; Lloyd (Genevieve) Kohnen of St. Michael, Agnes Kohnen of Albertville and Elton (Bernice) Kohnen of Mesa, Ariz.; a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her loving husband, Mrs. Kohnen was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Marv Rippentrop; parents, William E. and Rosa Strehler; a brother, Elmer Strehler; and a sister, Edna Lieder.

Madalyn Kovarik

Services for Madalyn Lenore Kovarik, 7, of Princeton, formerly of Champlin were Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at the Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Rev. Philip Bryans officiated. Interment was at the Champlin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dick Flipp, John Klersy, James Kovarik and Doug Whittlef.

Madalyn died of lung cancer Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at her home. She was born Nov. 28, 1995, in Coon Rapids to Cade D. Whittlef and JaNane M. Kovarik.

Madalyn was a first-grade student at Champlin Elementary.

She is survived by mother, JaNane (Erik); brother, Odin; father, Cade (Mandie) Whittlef; sister, Trinity; grandparents, Anne (Dick) Flipp, James (Judy) Kovarik, Cheryl Kovarik, John Klersy, Doug and Sharon Whittlef; great-grandmother, Darlene (Delbert) Frisk; many loving relatives, friends and four cats.

Donations will be accepted at any US Bank location for the Madalyn Kovarik Benefit Fund.

Frances Lindquist

Services for Frances G. Lindquist, 88, of Little Falls were Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.

Mrs. Lindquist died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003.

She is survived by her sons, Thor (Theresa) Lindquist of Little Falls, Karl (Jeanette) Lindquist of East Grand Forks, Alan (Barbara) Lindquist of Maple Grove, and Rolf (Layne) Lindquist of Grand Marais; daughter, Linnea (Gary) Dietrich of Apple Valley; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Andrew Pohlkamp

Services for Andrew William "Andy" Pohlkamp, 75, of St. Michael were Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at 2 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Rev. Michael Becker was the celebrant and interment with military rites followed at the St. Michael Cemetery.

Dave Pohlkamp, Eric Pohlkamp, Larry Pohlkamp, Adam Sipe, Tyler Reemts and Matt Pohlkamp served as casket bearers.

Mr. Pohlkamp died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 29.

He was born March 7, 1927, in Buckman, Minn., the son of Frank and Catherine Suess Pohlkamp.

Mr. Pohlkamp honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

On April 11, 1951, Andrew Pohlkamp and Delrose Aydt were joined in holy marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with seven children.

Mr. Pohlkamp formerly worked at Security Warehouse in Minneapolis for 28-and-a-half years. He later was employed at Kemmetmueller Water Care in Osseo, Duerr's Water Care Service in Albertville and at Auto Shower Car Wash in St. Michael.

He was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael, American Legion Post 567 and The Knights of Columbus Council 4174.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delrose Pohlkamp; children, David (Cindy) Pohlkamp, Daniel (Connie) Pohlkamp, Elizabeth (Donald) Sipe, Joseph (Barbara) Pohlkamp, Suzanne (Danny) Reemts, Paul (Lizanne) Pohlkamp and Timothy (Day) Pohlkamp; 24 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Kally Kapsner and Ann (Joe) Gangl; brothers, Leonard (Lorraine) Pohlkamp and Ted (Anne) Pohlkamp; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Wilbur (Millie) Aydt, Virg Neumann and Norman Lehn; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Pohlkamp; his parents, Frank and Catherine Suess Pohlkamp; a brother, Erwin Pohlkamp; and by a sister, Marie Gmach.

Charles Spartz

Services for Charles Joseph "Chuck" Spartz, 45, of Osseo were Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Interment was at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

Mr. Spartz died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, in Robbinsdale. He was born Aug. 4, 1957, in Robbinsdale to Clarence and Dorothy Spartz.

Mr. Spartz was a member of the 49ers Union.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; father, Clarence Spartz; brothers, Patrick (Kathleen) and Paulk; sisters, Margaret (Marvin) Langston, Andrea Spartz, Sharon Spartz, and Mary Kay (Jim) Reistad; parents-in-law, Alroy and Betty Barthel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, John and Patti Jaeb, David and Karen Dehmer, Dan Barthel, Jeff and Luanne Carroll, Tim and Jean Lauth, and Tom and Jean Barthel; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Mr. Spartz is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy "Kim" Spartz; and grandmother, Margaret Kimler.

Memorials may be given to the Charles J. Spartz Memorial Fund.

George Tonn

Services for George H. Tonn, 84, of Osseo were Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Osseo. He died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 3, 2003.

Interment was at Glen Haven Cemetery.

Mr. Tonn was born in 1918 in Maple Grove.

He was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Osseo Fire Department.

Mr. Tonn is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorna; children, Mary Moyle of Maple Grove, Bill (Cathy) Tonn of St. Louis Park, Tom (Barb) Tonn of Maple Grove, Kris (Bruce) Jasken of Anchorage, Alaska, and Nancy (Jim) Manos of White Bear Lake; grandchildren, Matt and Danna Moyle, B.J. Tonn, Derek and Kyle Tonn, Jason Jasken, Andy and Janel Manos; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl and Ben; and sister, Leona.

Memorials may be given to the George H. Tonn Memorial Fund.

John William Tulkki

Services for John William Tulkki, 85, of Delano, were Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Delano.

Rev. Jeff Hagaman officiated and interment was in St. Paul's Cemetery in Delano.

Pallbearers were John R. Tulkki, Burton Tulkki, Barry Tulkki, Hal Becker, Michael Tulkki and David Becker.

Mr. Tulkki died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003. He was born May 14, 1917 in Middleville Township to John and Amalia (Kitti) Tulkki.

He attended Macalaster College and the Minneapolis Business College. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 in the European theater. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant in the 489th Ordinance Evacuation Company.

Mr. Tulkki worked for the Delano Granite Works for 36 years. He was active, serving on the Delano School Board and the Delano Power and Water Commission. He was treasurer of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Delano for 20 years. He was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Howard, Emil and Daniel. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Rieder); children, Janet (Paul) Kosower, John (Jean) Tulkki, Burton (Marcie) Tulkki, Barry Tulkki and Margie Peterson and Deanna (Hal) Becker; 14 grandchildren and brothers and sisters, Raymond Tulkki, Walter Tulkki, Agnes Kosola and Eva Johnson.

Laurie Wallin

Services for Laurie L. Wallin (Anderson), 45, of Osseo were Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at the Washburn-McReavy Columbia Heights Chapel.

She died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 1.

Mrs. Wallin is survived by her father, Ewald Anderson; sisters, Joyce (Conroy) Townsend, Susan Risinger, and Donna (Tim) McGrath; brothers, Robert (Marie) Anderson and Gary Anderson; nine nieces and nephews; good friends, Chris Wallin, and Syd and Anisa Thompson.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ardes.
