Edward Zachman

Services for Edward Dominic Zachman, 73, of Albertville were Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at St. Albert Catholic Church in Albertville.

Rev. Peter Richards and Rev. Mark W. Willenbring were the concelebrants. Interment followed at St. Albert's Cemetery.

Organist for the mass was Bea Psyk and the soloist was Julie Praught. The reader for the mass was Crystal Vetsch. Gift bearers were Madalyn Backstrom, Tori Backstrom, Molly Zachman, Grace Zachman and Tara Zachman.

Honorary casket bearers were Andrew and Austin Vetsch, Colleen McConnell and Christine McConnell.

Casket bearers were Brooke Zachman, Allison Adam, Jason McConnell, Nathan McConnell, Tony Zachman and Morgan Backstrom.

Mr. Zachman died suddenly Monday, Dec. 6, at his residence. He was born Sept. 25, 1931, in Albertville the son of Henry and Susan Hackenmueller Zachman.

He attended St. Albert's Catholic School until the eighth grade. He later graduated from St. John's Prep School in 1949.

On Oct. 3, 1957, Edward Zachman and Marlene Fournier were joined in holy marriage at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Elk River. God blessed their marriage with six children.

He was employed for 43 years in the printing business as a printing pressman.

He was a faithful, lifetime member of St. Albert's Catholic Church in Albertville.

Mr. Zachman is survived by wife, Marlene Zachman; children, Jeannine (Gregg) Backstrom of Albertville, Charles Zachman of Charlotte, N.C., (fiancée Tina Angelichio), Jon Zachman of Otsego, Ron (Lisa) Zachman of St. Michael, Suzanne (Doug) McConnell of Grantsburg, Wis., and Maria (Rick) Vetsch of Centreville, Va.; 18 grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Irene Weber of Rogers, Rita Engelhard and Jerome (Donna) Zachman, all of Minneapolis, Theresa (Robert) Oswald of San Diego, Calif., and Eugene (Lois) Zachman of St. Michael; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Susan; brothers and sisters, Alred Zachman, Ray Zachman in W.W.II, Melita Braun, Bertilla, Del and Leon Zachman.

Grace Idella Mahlberg

Mass of Christian Burial for Grace Idella Mahlberg, 87, of Delano, was held Tuesday, Dec. 7, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano. Rev. Rev. Frank Wampach officiated the service.

Internment was held in the Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Grace died Saturday, Dec. 4, at her home in Delano. She was born Nov. 17, 1917, to Andrew and Josephine (Fautch) Pogreba in Delano.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Mahberg, her parents Andrew and Josephine Pogreba and her sisters Laura Dalheimer and Helen Tischler.

She is survived by her neices, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gregory W. Manderfeld

Services for Gregory W. Manderfeld, 57, of Maple Grove will be Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at 11 a.m. at The Church of The Holy Name of Jesus in Medina.

Interment was at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Mr. Manderfeld died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, he also impacted many in his 31- year career at Ryerson Tull-Mpls. Loved deeply by his wife, family and many others, Mr. Manderfeld will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol; son, Tom (Kelly and their children, Kyle and Megan) of Savage, daughter, Amy (Rob) Kennedy of Plymouth, and son, David of Maple Grove; brothers, Steve (Sandy), Brian (Georgeann) and Scott (Gina); sisters, Cathy (Terry) Hinman and Mary (Harry) Noyes; many loving relatives and friends.

Mr. Manderfeld is preceded in death by his parents Willard and Mabel.

A special thanks to oncologist Dr. Bloom, Shirley Kern and Greg's "A" team at North Memorial.

Dorothy J. Zytkovicz

Services for Dorothy J. Zytkovicz, 92, of New Hope, formerly of Osseo, were Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park.

Mrs. Zytkovicz died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in New Hope. She was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Milaca.

She is survived by her children, Duane (June), Tom (Marianne), Kathleen (Larry) DesJardins, Penny Loeffler, Karyl (Terry) Lejcher, Greg, and Tim; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; brother, Rudolf DeGrood; sisters, Marie Marceau, Nell Lane, Diel Rau and Gen Gorciak.

Mrs. Zytkovicz is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L.

Stanley Stephen Hohag

Services were held for Stanley Stephen Hohag Tuesday, Dec. 7 at First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake. Pastor Myra Carroll-Pizzilla officiated the service.

Internment was held at Howard Lake cemetery.

Stanley, known to many as "Tim," was born June 5, 1920, to Fred and Mary (Steg) Hohag on their farm north of Waverly. The outbreak of World War II saw Stan going to California to work in the Douglas Aircraft plant While living in California, Stanley married Anna Marie Painschab, on March 7, 1942. The young couple soon returned to Minnesota when Stan was drafted in the Army. He was assigned to the China-Burma-India theater during the war, serving in the U.S. Army Engineer Depot Company.

Following the end of the war, Stanley returned to Waverly, where he continued to farm for many years with his brother Warner. Stanley semi-retired from farming in 1979 when his son Dean took over the dairy farm, although he did continue to help as much and as long as his helth allowed.

Stanley will be remembered for his work ethic, his inventive and mechanical skills and his fine woodworking abilities. As a younger man, Stanley enjoyed dancing and bowling. He was a natural horticulturist and took great pleasure in growning plants and landscaping. In his retirement and declining health, Stan enjoyed feeding and watching birds, as well as doing jigsaw puzzles. Stanley was an active member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Waverly, and more recently, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake.

Stanley died peacefully at his home Dec. 4. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna; his children Karen Fadden, Ron Fadden, Kathy and Rick Workman and Jacob Workman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Hohag, and by his brother and sisters and their spouses: Chuch and Mary Hohag, Edna nd Ralph Hjlem and Vavian and Harold Irwin.

Dale Haglund

Services for Dale Haglund, 85, of Brooklyn Park, were Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Brooklyn United Methodist Church.

Interment was in Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis.

He was born April 24, 1919, in Red Wing.

Mr. Haglund is survived by his loving wife, Lavonne "Bonnie" of Brooklyn Park; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Robin Haglund of Paynesville, Minn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Charles Henneman of Champlin, and Sandra and Thomas Walters of Brooklyn Park; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and James Hofstede of St. Anthony; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

If so desired, memorials may be given to the Dale R. Haglund Memorial Fund.

Michael Sween

Services for Dr. Michael Christopher Sween, 33, of Medina were Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Maple Grove.

Interment was in Lakewood Cemetery.

Dr. Sween was tragically taken from our lives Monday, Dec. 6, 2004. He was born April 8, 1971, in St. Paul, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Osseo High School in 1989; St. Olaf College in 1993 and was a member of the St. Olaf Choir for three years. He then graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1997 and owned a practice in Rogers.

He was married to Jill Hughes Aug. 22, 2003. He was an avid golfer, runner and Vikings and Twins fan. He ran numerous marathons including two Boston Marathons and most recently, the New York City Marathon Nov. 7, with Jill and his parents proudly cheering him on. Michael was eagerly preparing for the London Marathon in April.

Michael and Jill enjoyed traveling together; he shared his love of golf with Jill and enjoyed Jill's love of boating.

He was the loving husband of Jill Hughes; beloved son of Duane and Charlotte; dear brother of Laurie and husband Dan Ibister, Mark and wife Bridget; special uncle of Lucas Ibister, Collin and Stephanie Sween.

He is also survived by parents-in-law, Gary and Jeanette Hughes; sister-in-law, Mia and her sons Eric and Cory Weslander, who looked up to Michael as part of the family; close friend, Jay Williams, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous good friends.

Dr. Sween was preceded in death by grandparents, Milo and Lenore Sween and Torberg and Aziel Nordmark.

Memorials preferred.

Clarence E. Koepp

Funeral services for Clarence E. Koepp, 87, of Hamel were Monday, Dec. 6, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

The Rev. Steven C. Briel and Rev. Matthew P. Johnson officiated. Interment followed at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Tiffin Fuhrmann was the organist for the funeral service. The fourth and fifth grade children's choir of St. John's Lutheran School sang "Children of the Heavenly Father." Congregational hymns were "Oh Come, Oh, Come, Emmanuel," "Once he Came in Blessing," "Asleep in Jesus! Blessed Sleep!" and "I'm But a Stranger Here."

Friends called at the church Sunday, Dec. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Prayer Service was held at 6 p.m.

Casket bearers were John Kothrade, Justin Bermel, Howard Larson, James Kuns, Jason Mellenthin and Dale Herman.

Mr. Koepp died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at his residence. God rest his soul. He was born March 18, 1917, in Hamel the Son of Paul L. and Amelia C. Hoffmockel Koepp. Clarence's father raised Percheron draft horses and as a young man he had to work very hard on his family's farm.

He was baptized July 29, 1923, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. H.R. Klemp. He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith April 13, 1930, at St. John's by the Rev. H.R. Klemp. His confirmation memory verse was Revelation 2:10 "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."

On Oct. 9, 1948, Clarence E. Koepp and Cordella Dorothy Ann Kothrade were joined in holy marriage at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran. The Rev. Erwin Schroeder officiated and God blessed their marriage with four children. Clarence had met Cordella at St. John's Walther League.

Mr. Koepp was a faithful, lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a past president and treasurer of St. John's young peoples' league. He formerly served on St. John's School Board, Church Trustee for six years and was a former treasurer of St. John's Debt Retirement Fund.

Clarence loved his farm! He was a longtime farmer/dairyman and registered Holstein breeder with the "Della Acres" prefix. Through the years, he received many milk/butter fat production awards from DHIA. He formerly served on DHIA's Board of Directors for 13 years and served as president for seven of those years. Clarence also was a former delegate of Mid-America Dairymen.

He was a past board member of Operation Round-Up-Wright Hennepin CO-OP Electric Association, former president of the Corcoran Senior Citizens, delivered meals on wheels until having total knee replacement surgery and belonged to CROSS (Christians Reaching Out to Social Service).

Mr. Koepp was a devoted husband and father. He was a very hard worker and always strived for perfection. His past times included old-time music, dancing, admiring beauty, especially flowers, nature, fire works and Christmas lights. He especially appreciated a beautiful field of corn, a good herd of dairy cattle and a well kept farm.

He loved to play cards, socialize with his many friends and enjoyed a good joke. His many stories and memories of western Hennepin County will be missed.

He had good, simple words of wisdom based on the Bible and never compromised his beliefs. Clarence always had a good joke in reserve for people, and people appreciated his wit and humor. His sharp mind worked like a human calculator. Even though he only had an eighth grade education, in six years in a little country schoolhouse, Clarence could figure an amortization table in his head and come very close to the exact monthly payment. He remembered phone numbers and dates until the end.

Mr. Koepp was loved and will be missed by many, including his children, Marilyn P. (Matt) Mellenthin of Elk River, Diane M. (Douglas) Bermel of Hamel and Gerald C. Koepp of Isanti and friend Candace Richner; five grandchildren, Erin (Bob) Kiersted and Jason Mellenthin, Jennifer (Ryan) Hamers, Jeffrey and Justin Bermel; three great grandchildren, Reyden Hamers, Ella Kiersted and Matthew Munger; four step great grandchildren, Mitchell, Matthew and Drew Kiersted and Reed Hamers; a sister, Lucille Boldluc of Osseo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen (Willis) Berndt of St. Michael, Vivian E. (Howard) Kuns of Maple Grove, Edwin (Marlys) Kothrade Jr. of Rogers and Charles H. (Lila) Kothrade of Baudette; and many other relatives and friends.

His desire of wanting to be with his beloved wife Cordella, who died in 1996, has been accomplished.

Clarence is further preceded in death by a son, Duane Koepp in 1954; his parents, Paul and Amelia; and three sisters, Alice Reinking, Irene Hanson and Luella Larson.

Richard A. Crane

Services for Richard A. Crane, 66, of Maple Grove were Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Glenville.

He died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born Aug. 19, 1938 to Giles and Zora (Hargis) Crane in Brookings, S.D.

Mr. Crane grew up in Glenville, and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1956. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad, Red Owl and Allied Blacktop.

He was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his mother, Zora; wife of 25 years, Patricia; daughter, Suzanne (Robert) Hampton; sons, Christopher (Sherry), Richard II, Richard B.; grandchildren, Shane, Colin, Kyle, Cody, Weston and Ethan; sister-in-law, Maxine; brother, Robert (Carol); sister, Judy (Ron) Wangen; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Crane is preceded in death by his father, Giles; daughter, Elizabeth Ann; and brother, LaDon.

If so desired, memorials are preferred to North Memorial Hospice, Advent Lutheran Endowment Fund, or donor's church.
