Paul D. Birkholz
Visitation and prayer service for Paul D. Birkholz, 39, of Golden Valley, formerly of Maple Grove, were Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at O.E. Larson-Osborne Mortuary in Minneapolis.
Mr. Birkholz died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Judy; siblings, Kathy, Wayne (Chris Carlisle) Birkholz, Diane (John) Carroll, Susan (Ali) Dioury; nephew, Samir; niece, Audrey; grandmothers, Concordia Birkholz, and Shirley Hoverson; many other loving relatives and friends.
Mr. Birkholz was preceded in death by his brother, Dean; and sisters, Patricia and Theresa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
Paul O. Seleen
Services for Paul O. Seleen, 87, of Osseo were Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at the Evans-Nordby Funeral Home in Osseo.
Interment was at the Mound Cemetery in Brooklyn Center.
Mr. Seleen died Dec. 2, 2004, in Robbinsdale. He was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Maple Grove.
Being an expert marksman and an authority on guns, he will be missed by his gun club buddies.
He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Schoenmann of Osseo; Margaret Berg of Minneapolis, and Janniece (Neesy) Duval of Ogilvie; nieces, Brenda Tuttle of Brooklyn Park, and Bonnie Roeder of Osseo; and nephew, Brian Roeder of New Hope.
Mr. Seleen is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Seleen and mother Frances.
Jean Melgaard-Vogel
Services for Jean Melgaard-Vogel, 88, of Buffalo were Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Rev. John P. Folkerds officiated and interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery.
Special music for the funeral service was provided by Karin and Dan Wickman and Leslie Anderson.
Casket bearers were Camille MacCallum, Ian MacCallum, Hans Melgaard, Leslie Anderson, Stephanie Shaffer, Mike Shaffer, Hunter Anderson and Dawn Anderson.
Mrs. Melgaard-Vogel died Friday, Nov. 19, at Park View Care Center.
She was born June 19, 1916, in Hassan Township, Hennepin County, the daughter of William H. and Marion B. Grant Hawkins.
On June 24, 1938, Jean Hawkins and Odin Melgaard were joined in holy marriage in Maple Grove. God blessed their marriage with two children.
Mr. and Mrs. Melgaard owned and operated King Gas Service in Buffalo for many years. Odin Melgaard preceded his wife in death Jan. 1, 1986.
On Sept. 14, 1997, Jean Melgaard and Albert L. Vogel Jr. were joined in holy
marriage at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hassan Township.
She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo and often volunteered at its Lutefisk dinner.
She was a longtime member of Galiee Chapter 53 O.E.S., a Past Worthy Matron and a Past Grand Chaplain of the State O.E.S. She volunteered for many years at the Wright County Retirement Center, for Meals on Wheels, for the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, the Buffalo Rodeo, Buffalo Days and belonged to Buffalo Hospital's Auxiliary. She also was a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship Award from the Buffalo Rotary Club and received a Silver Spur Award from the Buffalo Championship Rodeo.
Mrs. Melgaard-Vogel is survived by loving Husband, Albert L. "Al" Vogel; children, Gerard O. (Adrienne) Melgaard and Janis I. (Elclon) Olson, all of Buffalo; grandchildren, Camille (Ian) MacCallum of Buffalo, Hans Meigaard of Maple Lake, Stephanie (Mike) Shaffer of Shakopee, Leslie Anderson and Hunter (Dawn) Anderson all of Buffalo; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Maxwell MacCallum and Andrew Shaffer; a step-daughter, Mary (Bill) Feldman; step-grancichildren, Michael and David; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Grace Hawkins, Leonard (Elsie) Melgaard, Doreen Melgaard and Helen Anderson; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Marion B. Hawkins; a son-in-law, Marlowe W. Anderson on Sept. 10, 1994; a sister and two brothers.
Harriet Dorweiler
Services for Harriet A. Dorweiler (Peikert), 92, of Hamel were Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayzata.
She was buried in Parkers Lake Cemetery, Plymouth. Her family offered a special thank-you to all the nurses at the Guardian Angels Care Center of Elk River who took such wonderful care of her. Memorials to the American Cancer Society are preferred.
A graduate of St. Andrews School of Nursing, she served in the U.S. Army as a registered nurse during World War II. She was an Honorary Board Member of the Farmers State Bank and an Honorary Lifetime Member of the American Legion. Also, she was an accomplished ceramic artist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Peikert; stepson, Mark Peikert; brothers, Cornelius and Julius Dorweiler and parents, Harry and Anna Dorweiler.
Her survivors include her brother, Dasen (Doris) Dorweiler; stepson, John Peikert; stepdaughter, Ruth Peikert; stepdaughter-in-law, Connie (Oliver) Walkingstick; stepgrandchildren, Brady (Shannon) Peikert and Brandee Peikert; nieces, Edris (Howard) Guest and Donna (Terry) Roehl; nephews, Julius (Nancy) Dorweiler and Dennis (Dar) Dorweiler; 14 grand nieces and nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.
Lillia Laho
Services for Lillia Mae Laho, infant daughter of Joseph and Kathryn Laho of Corcoran, were Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.
Lillia's uncle Jim Jurmu officiated, and interment followed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
Casket bearers were Douglas Laho and Denise Laho.
Lilla Mae died Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
In addition to her loving parents, Lillia Mae is further survived by sisters and brothers, Leanne (Derek) Niemala of Buffalo, Kristin (Jason) Grangroth of Monticello, Douglas Laho of Buffalo, Denise Laho of Maple Grove, Keith Laho, Aaron Laho, Mathew Laho, Joshua Laho, Kirk Laho, Amanda Laho, Mitchell Laho, Kimberly Laho, Karina Laho and Kyle Laho, all at home; grandparents, Eric Laho of Brainerd and Bob and Miriam Jurmu of Plymouth; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Martin Laho; and by her paternal grandmother, Lillian Laho.
Norman Arns
Services for Norman J. Arns Sr., 67, of Tumacacori, Ariz., formerly of Albertville, were Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Sahuarita, Ariz.
Mr. Arns died Nov. 24. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., June 6, 1937. He was the founder of Particle Control Inc. of Albertville and was a member of the Albertville Lions Club.
Over the years he was also an active member of the Catholic Churches of St. Albert's in Albertville and St. Henry's in Monticello, and more recently of San Martin de Porres in Sahuarita, Ariz., where he served as their first parish council president and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for his generosity and positive outlook.
He was preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Ann Arns; and brother, Don Felton. He is survived by loving wife of 47 years, Carol (Schwenk); sons, Norman Jr. (Debbie), Mark and Bill (JoLynn); and nine grandchildren.
He is also survived by brother, Jack Arns of Auburn, Calif.; and sister, Cindi Maus of Tinley Park, Ill.; other relatives and many friends.
Lois Burton
Services for Lois Burton, 72, of Walker, formerly of Champlin, were Saturday, Dec. 4, at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church in Champlin.
Mrs. Burton is preceded in death by husband, Donald; and brother, Clyde.
She is survived by children, Cheri (Peter) Ulmen, David (Lynda) Burton, and Sue (Bernard) Buelow; grandchildren, Nicholas and Martha Ulmen, Sara (Jake) Eigenheer, Donald (Michelle) Burton, and Megan and Matthew Buelow; and two great grandchildren. She further survived by brother, Warren R. (Joan) Anderson; sister-in-law, Kate Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Ms. Burton was a retired Business Manager of Hennepin County Technical College, North Campus.

Denise Marcelle Willenbring
Services for Denise Marcelle Willenbring (Flavin) were Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
She was born Oct. 24, 1953 in Pensacola, Fla. She died peacefully Nov. 29, 2004, after a hard-fought battle with cancer at her home in Champlin.
She is survived by loving husband, Roger; sons, Dan and Joe; parents, Dennis and Marcella Flavin; brothers, Tom and wife Jeanne, Shawn and wife Barb, and John and wife Jennifer; sisters, Angela and husband Jeff Sele, Gloria and husband Patrick Bauer, Caroline and husband Jim Sansovich, Kelly and husband Randy Miller, and Erin Flavin; also many brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
All of her friends at Alina and all of the people she has touched throughout her life - she will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
Ruth D. Follett
Services for Ruth D. Follett, 81, of Osseo were Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at the Osseo United Methodist Church.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Mrs. Follett was very active in the Osseo United Methodist Church and the Osseo Lioness.
She grew up in the Aitkin area and graduated from Aitkin High School.
She is survived by her son, Stephen of Osseo; daughters, Kathleen Dale of St. Paul, Jean (Scott A.) Larson of Maple Grove, Cynthia Davis of Maple Grove, and Wendy Follett of Osseo; sister, Donna Garland of Las Vegas; and grandchildren, Tiffany Follett, Nathan Davis, and Michelle Davis.
Mrs. Follett is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin R.
Hildegarde Kajer
Services for Hildegarde "Hildie" Kajer, 90, of Maple Grove/Osseo, formerly of St. Paul were Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in St. Paul.
Mrs. Kajer died peacefully Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at her daughter's home in Maple Grove.
She lived seven years at her daughter's home and then two years at the Berkshire Residence in Osseo.
A special thank you to the Berkshire staff for their loving care and to her special caring friends at the Osseo Senior Center, especially Alice Sorenson and Arleen Barrett.
She is survived by her children, Mary (George) Olson of Red Wing, Margaret (Tim) Ryan of Maple Grove, Edward (Janeen) of St. Paul, Liz (Frank) Haggerty of St. Paul, and Ann Terese (Gary) Thompson of Olathe, Kan.; also 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother and three sisters; and many other loving family and friends.
Mrs. Kajer is preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1996; and by a brother and sister.
She will be remembered as a generous and loving spirit.
Memorials will be chosen by the family.
Michael R. Williams
Services for Michael R. Williams, 60, of Osseo were Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at the Evans-Nordby Funeral Home in Osseo.
Interment was at St. Vincent's Cemetery.
Mr. Williams owned Osseo Stained Glass. He was also a member of the Osseo EDA (economic development authority) and a former member of the Osseo Planning Commission.
He is survived by brothers, John B. Williams and Thomas J. Williams; sister, Mary M. Cutter; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marion and his brother, Gerald.
