Marvin A. Tessmer

Services for Marvin A. Tessmer, 84, of Loretto were Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Pastor Dennis K. Strong officiated and interment followed at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Jan Nelson was the organist for the funeral service. Congregational hymns were "Jesus, Shepherd of the Sheep," "To God Be the Glory" and "I Walk in Danger All the Way."

Friends called Thursday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. A Prayer service was conducted at 8 p.m.

Casket bearers were John Pfotenhauer, Luke Pfotenhauer, Joel Arndt, Jared Tessmer, Mark Tessmer and Dan Lange

Mr. Tessmer was born to eternal life Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004. He was born June 13, 1920, in Corcoran the son of Gottlieb F. and Alvina E. Bechtold Tessmer.

He was baptized July 4, 1920, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood Township, Hennepin County. He was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith March 25, 1934, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. His confirmation memory verse was "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" John 10:27-28.

On June 25, 1944, Marvin A. Tessmer and Audrey A. Schleif were joined in holy marriage at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood Township. God blessed their marriage with three children.

Mr. and Mrs. Tessmer engaged in dairy farming. Marvin was also a registered holstein breeder. He was a faithful, lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Through the years, he served on many church boards.

Mr. Tessmer is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Audrey A. Tessmer; children, Judy (Ron) Arndt of Menasha, Wis., Jean (Fred) Pfotenhauer of Rogers and James (Rachel) Tessmer of Loretto; 10 grandchildren, Tierney, Heidi and Joel Arndt; John and Luke Pfotenhauer and Katie (Brian) Stodola; Anna (Eric) Bramos, Lara (William) Radintz, Jared Tessmer and Marie Tessmer; a great granddaughter, Lilly Radintz; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Tessmer of Loretto; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vince (Delphine) Schleif of Buffalo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gottlieb and Alvina Tessmer, two brothers, Gerhardt C. and Glenard E. Tessmer and a sister, Evelyn C. Lange.

Claire Anderson

Services for Claire Elizabeth (Logefeil) Anderson, 76, of Medina, were Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at St. Louis Park Evangelical Free Church, St. Louis Park.

Mrs. Anderson died after a sudden stroke, Saturday, Oct. 30.

Her father and mother, Dr. Rudolph and Agnes Logefeil, and her sister, Jeanne Hultgren, preceded Mrs. Anderson in death.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Wallace Anderson; her children, Mark (Nancy), Michael (Carolyn), Sarah Stover (Bob), Stephen (Louise), Martha Dornbush (Vonn), Mary Claire, Jonathan (Julie), and Julia Davis (Dan); 15 grandchildren; brother, Bob Logefeil; brother-in-law, Doug Hultgren, and her many beloved friends.

Memorials to St. Louis Park Evangelical Free Church Missions are preferred.

James P. Carroll

Services for James Patrick Carrol, 62, of Maple Grove, formerly of Shakopee and Prior Lake were Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Tim) Brenner; grandsons, T.J. and Andy; sisters, Jean Ann (Al) Kaiser and Nancy (Michael) Wolfe.

Robert A. Miller

Services for Robert Anthony Miller, 70, of Osseo were Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Miller died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004. He was born Aug. 21, 1934.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #630. Mr. Miller was a retired employee of the K-mart Corporation.

Mr. Miller enjoyed spending time with his golf buddies, but his true passion was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty; children, Deb (Frank) Dungan, Thomas (Joan) Miller, James (Barbara) Miller, Mary (Troy) Rolek, Kathy (Bryan) Ewing, Steve (Kris) Miller, John Miller, and Bobbie (Mark) Johnson; grandchildren, Mindy, Jaimie, Ryan, Matt, Tony, Melissa, Hannah, Samantha, Stephanie, Shelby, Jenna, Kristina, Katie, Jessica, Karly, and John; mother, Rose Miller; siblings, Donald, Kenneth, Doris, Frances, Leo, Rose, Marilyn, Ann Marie and Gerard; other relatives and friends.

Mr. Miller is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Miller; and sister, Marie Miller.

Florence R. Carland

Services for Florence R. (Johnson) Carland, 85, of Osseo were Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at the Osseo Church of the Nazarene.

Interment was at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.

Mrs. Carland died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, in New Hope. She was born June 20, 1919, in Maple Grove.

She was a livelong resident of the area. Mrs. Carland was also active in her church and community, serving as organist at the Osseo Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years.

Mrs. Carland and her husband Wendell traveled to South American and South Africa with the Word and Witness Team. She served as a CROSS representative, Girl Scout leader, Meals on Wheels driver and was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wendell; son, Robert of Hawaii; daughter, Nila (Bernard) Cahill of Maple Grove; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carland is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Hilma Johnson; brothers, Roy and Earl Johnson; and sisters, Gladys Johnson and Hazel Sturdy.

If so desired memorials may be given to the Florence R. Carland Memorial Fund.

Carol Holmstrom

A memorial service for Carol Holmstrom, 45, of Champlin was Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Washburn-McReavy Chapel in Coon Rapids.

Mrs. Holmstrom was preceded in death by parents, William and Arcelia Barnwell. She is survived by husband, Howard; children, Danielle Lee McIntosh, Dean and Dale; brothers, Bill (Cynthia) and Mark; sisters, Debbie (Mark) and Nicole; grandchildren, Emma and Andrew, and six nieces and nephews.

Mary Ecklund

A memorial service for Mary Ecklund, 78, of Dayton was Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at Washburn-McReavy Strobeck Johnson Chapel in Hopkins.

Mrs. Ecklund was preceded in death by husband, Clifton. She is survived by daughters, Terry (Russell) Bisping, Laurie Aasen, Connie (Terry Amende) Ecklund, and Kathy Ecklund; son, Phillip Ecklund; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, James (Judy) Collins; and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin Mattson

A memorial service for Melvin Mattson of Milaca was Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Christian Reformed Church in Pease.

Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Mattson died Oct. 23, 2004, from complications due to Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease while residing at Milaca Elim Home. He was born Feb. 5, 1918, to Oktor and Mary Elizabeth (Larsen) Mattson in Milaca.

He was part of this country's greatest generation having served in America's two wars overseas. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Army and National Guard having achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel and oversaw many summer operations at Camp Ripley.

In civilian life, he managed Milaca Mills Inc. for decades until his retirement. He will be remembered as a true friend, hero, a great golfer and a wonderful dad.

Mr. Mattson is survived by wife, Kathryn Timmer of Milaca; son, Jeff (Leigh Farrell) of Dayton; daughter, Karen (Dennis) Larson of Midwest City, Okla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Gaumnitz of Hopkins, Emma Siemers of Milaca and Ellen Nelson of Rice.

He was preceded in death by wife of 53 years, Betty Jane; brothers, Merlin and Martin; and sisters, Clarice Satterstrom and Evelyn Bromberg.

George H. Wagner

Services for George H. Wagner, 83, of St. Michael and formerly of Hanover were Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.

Pastor Carl Eeman officiated and interment followed at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Colleen Johnson was the organist for the funeral service.

Friends called Monday, Oct. 25, 2004 at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. A Prayer Service was held at 7:30 p.m.

Casket Bearers were Tim Buchholz, Jeff Wagner, Chris Mauk, Tony Garcia, Dennis Wedge and Randy Vollbrecht.

Mr. Wagner died, Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at The Buffalo Hospital. He was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Hanover the son of Emil and Meta Harff Wagner. He was baptized Nov. 20, 1921, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover by Pastor William Beiswanger. He also was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith May 31, 1936, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Pastor Beiswanger.

On May 29, 1943, George H. Wagner and Marjorie K. Luther were joined in holy marriage at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood Township by Pastor Haar. God blessed their marriage with a son, James.

Mr. and Mrs. Wagner engaged in dairy farming in Hanover for many years. He later was employed as a welder at Van Dusen Co. in Hamel from 1969 to 1989.

He was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover. He formerly served on the Church Council and on the Cemetery Board.

Mr. Wagner was an active member of the Hanover Fire Department for more than 30 years and helped organize the original fire department in Hanover. He also formerly served as a member of the Hanover Village Council.

Mr. Wagner especially enjoyed his grandchildren and hunting. He belonged for many years to the Hanover Rod & Gun Club.

He is survived by loving wife, Marjorie K. Wagner; a son, James (Claudia) Wagner of Albertville; grandchildren, Jeannine (Tim) Buchholz, Jeffrey (Kristi) Wagner, James (Chris) Mauk, Tony (Tammy) Garcia and Shalon Garcia; great grandchildren, Madison and Max Buchholz, Benjamin and Joshua Wagner; brother, Russ (Ella) Wagner and sister, Eleanor Vollbrecht, all of St. Michael; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Meta Wagner; a brother, Willard "Bill" Wagner and a sister, Donna Truwe.

Robert J. Shaw Jr.

Private family services for Robert John "Bob" "Skip" Shaw Jr., 60, of Hanover took place last week.

Mr. Shaw passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, surrounded by the people he loved.

He is survived by loving wife of 21 years, Karyn; daughter, Megan; stepsons, Andrew and Matthew; and a host of loving family and friends.

Mr. Shaw is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Norma.

Lynn W. Evers

Memorial services for Lynn W. Evers, 67, of Corcoran were Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at the Elk River United Methodist Church.

A private interment was conducted at Lakeside Cemetery in Grey Eagle.

He passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, after a struggle with cancer.

Mr. Evers was a retired employee from a career in the printing industry. He was also a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.

His family with miss his sense of humor and love of life.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene; son, Terry (Deborah) Lynn; grandchildren, Marissa, Lana and Olivia; brother, Owen Evers; sister, Fran Evers; nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Evers is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Iris Evers.

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.

Michael Mindrum

Services for Michael Mindrum, 54, of Champlin were Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel in Anoka.

Interment was in the Champlin Cemetery.

Mr. Mindrum died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at his residence in Champlin. He worked as a welder at Hoffman Engineering.

He was preceded in death by father, Warren, and his grandparents. He is survived by mother, Mildred (Marvin) Krone of Princeton; brother, Paul (Barb Johnson) Mindrum of Champlin; sister, Holly (Dean) Bjerga of Appleton, Minn.; stepmother, Marilyn (Lee) Neprude of Champlin; niece and nephew, Sarah and Cody Mindrum; other relatives and friends.
