Irene Gardner
Services for Irene D. Gardner, 87, and formerly of Milaca were Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.
Chaplain Philip Geoffrion officiated.
Rolf Mohwinkel was the vocalist and he sang "In the Garden," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art".
Casket bearers were Brian Gardner, Chris Gardner, Larry Meyer, Dick Meyer, Al McLean, Bob McKenzie, Jackson Gardner and and Harlan McKenzie.
Mrs. Gardner died Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born Dec. 26, 1916, in Kimball, Minn., the daughter of Richard and Mabel Magnuson McKenzie.
On April 18, 1936, Irene D. McKenzie and Harold R. Gardner were joined in holy marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Gardner lived on a few farms in Minnesota and North Dakota. They engaged in dairy farming near Milaca for many years.
She is survived by a son, Eugene (Charlotte) Gardner of St. Michael; grandchildren, Brian, Chris and Katie Gardner and Roger Farris; great-grandsons, Jack and Cole Gardner and Dominic Severson; a sister, Loretta Meyer of Crystal; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Billie McKenzie of Robbinsdale, Clarence Amundson of East Grand Forks, Gene McKenzie of Courtney, N.D., and Robert (Andrea) Gardner of Milaca; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Harold R. Gardner Sept. 19, 2003; a daughter, Cindy Farris; parents, Richard and Mabel McKenzie; step mother, Lucy Mae McKenzie; brothers and sisters, Anard McKenzie, Inez Amundson, Elva Meyer, Archie, Elen, Richard Jr. and Arvid McKenzie.
Armella Schumacher
Services for Armella F. Schumacher, 80, formerly of St. Michael, were at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.
Rev. Michael Becker was the celebrant and interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery.
Casket bearers were James Schumacher, Dennis Markuson, Michael Swifka, Joel Bechtold, Kurt Kessler and Paul Hackenmueller.
Mrs. Schumacher died Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Dassel Lakeview Ranch.
She was born Sept. 25, 1923, in St. Michael the daughter of Meinrad "Boy" and Catherine "Kate" Schmitz Daleiden.
On June 9, 1948, Armella F. Daleiden and Linus "Tiny" Schumacher were joined in holy marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Mr. and Mrs. Schumacher engaged in dairy farming in Frankfort Township until 1969. She was also formerly employed as head cook at the St. Michael Middle School for many years.
She was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Mrs. Schumacher is survived by loving children, Kathleen Schumacher (Mike Swifka) of St. Paul, Verna (Dennis) Markuson of Buffalo and James (Julie) Schumacher of St. Michael; grandchildren, Megan, Erin and Colleen Schumacher; sisters and brothers, Martina Beaudry of Albertville, Clifford (Marcella) Daleiden of Loretto, Evelyn Beaudry of Big Lake, Eleanor Becker of Albertville, Melvin (Donna Mae) Daleiden of St. Michael, Verna (John) Feeney of Roseville, Billy (Betty) Daleiden of Maple Lake and Meiny (Mona) Daleiden of Zimmerman; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Linus "Tiny" Schumacher in 1986; her father, "Boy" Daleiden in 1952 and by her mother, "Kate" Daleiden in 1988.
Memorials are suggested for the Dassel Lakeview Ranch's Foundation.
Barbara Bender
Services for Barbara Jean "BJ" (nee Grygar) Bender, 50, of Maple Grove were Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park.
Interment was at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Osseo.
Mrs. Bender died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, in Maple Grove. She was born Aug. 4, 1954, in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie "Rick;" daughters, Kasia and Anyia; son, Gerek; brothers, Michael (Gail) Grygar, Robert (Helen) Grygar, and Richard (Christine) Grygar; and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Bender is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials are preferred.
Pauline "Polly" Kruger
Services for Pauline "Polly" Kruger, 66, of Maple Grove were Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at St. Joseph Parish Community in New Hope.
Interment was at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Maple Grove.
Mrs. Kruger passed away of cancer peacefully Sept. 21, 2004, at home. She was born May 30, 1938.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles; son, Paul; daughter, Natalie; grandson, Ethan; sister, Mary Lou (Jesse) Schaefer; brother, Tom Podany; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Mrs. Kruger is preceded in death by her parents, George and Anne Podany; and sister, Beverly Golling.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society or the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation.
Kenneth Rolighed
Memorial service for Kenneth Rolighed, 75, of Maple Grove was Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
Mr. Rolighed died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004.
He is survived by his wife Emily; children Cindy (Dennis), Vickie (Jeff) and Paul; sister, Doris; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessy, Tony, Brittney, Nichole, Jason, and Breanna; and great-granddaughter Dakota.
Ellwood Stevens
Services for Ellwood F. "Steve" Stevens, 88, of Osseo will Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wadena.
Mr. Stevens died in his sleep Friday, Sept. 24, 2004. He was born in a covered wagon Jan. 19, 1916, in Deadwood, S.D.
He was raised in Wadena. He worked in the CCC's, served in the Army for the duration of WWII, and was a 40-year member of the Bricklayers Union.
Mr. Stevens loved sports, especially Gopher hockey. He was an avid hunter.
He always wanted to fly a plane, but instead he saw men land on the moon.
Mr. Stevens always had a smile and a story, and loved telling anyone his latest joke. He said "there are only so many beats in a heart," and he had his last one on Friday.
He is survived by his sister, Rose Busker of Wadena; daughters, Jacqueline Wright of Brooklyn Park, and Mary Robinson of Osseo; grandchildren, Michelle (Darren) Gens, Luke (Kari) Wright, Hollie Robinson, Jessica (Allen) Ronngren, Nicholas Robinson, and Chelsea Robinson; great-grandchildren, Alex, Gavin, Kristina, Makayla, Tristan, and another due in March 2005.
Mr. Stevens is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bernice A., 80, who died April 11, 2003; also by Caroline, Jack, Anna and Albert.
He was loved greatly and will be so missed. A grateful "Thank You" to all the special people at Northridge Health Care in New Hope.
If so desired, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Stanford Kirchenwitz
Services for Stanford H. Kirchenwitz, 85, of Montrose were Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Rev. Paul Krentz officiated and interment was in Woodland Cemetery in Waverly. Casket bearers were Ken Kirchenwitz, Leander Meuleners, Marvin Vogelgesang, Robert Vogelgesang, Alvin Streich and Carol Goetz.
Mr. Kirchenwitz died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Elim Home in Watertown. He was born April 10, 1919, in Montrose the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. and Anna Maack Kirchenwitz.
He was baptized May 11, 1919, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by Rev. F.W. Erthal and confirmed in 1933 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano.
Mr. Kirchenwitz was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Anna Kirchenwitz; brothers, Arthur and Ervin Kirchenwitz; and sisters Ione DesMarais and Lorena Vogelgesang.
He is survived by his children and spouses Melvin and Donna Kirchenwitz of Excelsior, Richard and Delores Kirchenwitz of Montrose, Diane and Duane Dostal of Silver Lake; seven grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother-in-law Osmund DesMarais of Buffalo, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
John F. Fautsch
John F. Fautsch age 89 of Delano died on Friday, September 24, 2004. He was born December 27, 1914 to Bartek and Agnes (Fake) Fautsch in Franklin Township.
John is survived by his wife Gladys of 56 years, daughters Shirley and Jerry Eggersgluss, Judy and Joe Odenthal, and son James Fautsch, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Delano. Rev. Michael Miller officiated with music provided by Margaret Groskreutz organist and the Resurrection Choir. Military honors were provided by the Delano American Legion Post #377, and a rosary was performed by the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Casket bearers were: Scott Oeffling, Jerry Eggersgluss, Buster Eggersgluss, Gilbert Scheiber, Joe Odenthal and Paul Schifferle.
Arrangements by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, Minnesota.
Gordon E. Pearson
Services for Gordon E. Pearson, 82, of Montrose were Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano.
Deacon Joseph Kittok officiated the service and visitation was held prior to the services at the funeral home. Internment services were at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Casket bearers were: Alpha Wagar, Ken Billings, Chuck Rioux, Dave Geisenhof, George Turgeon, Bill Pearson, Denise Turgeon and Bridget Rioux.
Mr. Pearson died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at his home in Montrose. He was born Aug. 21, 1922, to Nels and Elsie (Yonke) Person in Elmdale Township, Minn.
He is survived by his children, Linda and George Turgeon, Bill and Bernadette Pearson and Jean Pearson; 11 grandchildren; brother Raymond Person, sisters Loretta Kelm, Eve Birr, Ellen Kelm, Lucy Kelm, Aggie Haller and Doris Bruggenthies, special friend Chris Jobe and special care-giver, friend and niece Jan Haller.
Phyllis Dahlheimer
Services for Phyllis Dahlheimer, 77, of Dayton were Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dayton.
Interment was in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Dayton.
Mrs. Dahlheimer was born Jan. 8, 1927, to Edward and Frances (Grant) Durant in Minneapolis. She died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at Guardian Angels Care Center, in Elk River.
She grew up in Dayton and was united in marriage with Leon Dahlheimer. They made their home in Dayton and raised their family there. She worked at Honeywell until retiring at age 55. Her husband, Leon, died in 1993. She entered Guardian Angels Care Center in 2003.
Mrs. Dahlheimer is survived by seven daughters and five sons: Paulette (Leslie) Orr, Anoka; JoAnn Harris, Princeton; Dennis (Mary) Dahlheimer, Otsego; Colleen Todd, Elk River; Elizabeth Humphreys, Otsego; Gary (Lori) Dahlheimer, Blaine; Mary (Bart) Rossi, Anoka; Tim Dahlheimer, Elk River; Chris Dahlheimer, Elk River; Heidi (Bill) Vogelman, Oak Park; Jaimie (Dave) Swenson, Princeton; and Dave (Val) Dahlheimer, Otsego; 29 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; three sisters: Yvonne (LeRoy) Bach, Dayton; Frances Bartlett, Zimmerman; and Mary (Daryl) Bobendrier, St. Michael; a brother, Dale (Noreen) Durant, Rogers; and two sisters-in-law, Lucy Durant, Dayton and Verla Durant, St. Michael.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leon, a grandson, three brothers, Earl, Dennis, and Ed, and sister-in-law, Jean.
Joseph Birosh
Services for Joseph "Joe" Birosh, 57, of Champlin were Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Mrs. Birosh is urvived by wife, Linda; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Chris Dvorak of St. Francis; mother, Mary Birosh of Minneapolis; sisters, Denise Pierson of Robbinsdale, and Sue (Mike) Laidlaw of Brooklyn Park; brothers, Mike (Sandy) Birosh of Burns Township, and Thomas Birosh of Hastings; mother-in-law, Lorraine Cheney of New Hope; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Allen (Sandy) Cheney of Hastings, Gary (Linda) Cheney of Coon Rapids, Don Cheney of Minneapolis, Daryl (Cathy) Cheney of Ramsey; sister-in-law, Lisa (Bernie) Bittner of Maple Grove; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by father, Joseph Birosh; brother, William Birosh; father-in-law, Arthur Cheney; brother-in-law, Richard Cheney.
