John Joseph Dusa

Services for John Joseph Dusa, 89, of Delano, were Saturday, March 20, 2004, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Delano.

Rev. Michael Miller officiated and honor guard was provided by Delano American Legion Post 377 and the Delano Fire Department.

Casket bearers were the Delano Fire Department retired and present members. Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mr. Dusa died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the Delano Healthcare Center. He was born April 13, 1914 to John and Genevie (Michalla) Dusa in Franklin Township.

He was a longtime member of Lieter Oil Company in Delano, and was a longtime member of the Delano Fire Department. He was a lifetime resident of Delano, only leaving to serve during the war.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He enjoyed vehicles and he took great care in keeping his cars showroom clean. He was often seen touring Delano in one of those meticulous cars.

He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy (Pysck); sisters, Cecelia (Joseph) Speckel and Mae Dusa.

He is survived by son, Ronald (Martha) and grandchildren, Nikki Dusa and Sean Dusa.

Michelle M. Franta

Services for Michelle M. Franta, 26, of Minneapolis, formerly of Maple Grove were Monday, March 15, 2004, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park.

Interment was at the Champlin City Cemetery in Champlin.

Ms. Franta died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, of a ruptured thoracic aneurysm.

She is survived by her loving fiance, Sean McPherson; mother and step-father, Lynn and Stan Liedman; father and step-mother, Paul and Laura Franta; maternal grandfather, Wallace Fisher; paternal grandparents, Frank and Jean Franta; paternal step-grandparents, Ken and Jan Turner; aunt, Mary Ann (Jim) Moenck; uncle, Mark (Trish Schlief) Franta; cousin, Will Franta; step-sisters and step-brother, Gail (Tony) Reini, Jeffrey Liedman, Julie (Richard) Cook; step-nieces and nephews, Chad and Travis Reini, Celia and Calvin Cook.

Ms. Franta is preceded in death by her grandmother, Doris Fisher; great aunt, Blanche Fish; and step-grandparents, Margaret and George Liedman.

Michelle graduated from the University of Minnesota with a major in psychology. While she attended college, she worked part-time at the school newspaper, The Minnesota Daily, and was copy chief when she graduated. She belonged to the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

She cherished the bond she had with her sisters.

After college she went on to work in marketing as editor of the company magazine at LarsonAllen.

Ms. Franta's loves were reading, dance, playing the violin, and piano. She treasured her family and friends especially her mom who was her best friend. She brought magic and love to everyone she touched. She will always be our angel and will be deeply missed by everyone she knew, especially her fiance, Sean, whom she loved very deeply. They were to be married this coming October.

Memorials are preferred to the family.

Patricia Ann Gilmer

Services for Patricia Ann Gilmer, 78, of Waverly, were Friday, March 26, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly.

Rev. Timothy Cloutier and interment was in the church cemetery.

Casket bearers were grandchildren.

Mrs. Gilmer died Friday, March 19, 2004, at the Buffalo Hospital. He was born May 4, 1925 to William and Bertha (Fabian) Jung in Wadena.

She attended St. Anne's Grade School, Wadena High School, St. Mary's College at Valparaiso, Ind. and the University of Minnesota.

On Sept. 10, 1949, she was joined in holy matrimony to Russell Gilmer. They had six children, Michael Gilmer, Patricia Reinert, James Gilmer, Mary Jacques, Nancy Daley and Julie Holtz.

Mrs. Gilmer devoted her life to her God, husband, children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly, singing in the choir for more than 35 years. She was known for being organized. Her calendar was a thing that contained everybody's important dates. The knowledge of those dates was not the end product, for she would send the appropriate card every year. Hallmark will notice her absence.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Julie Holtz. She is survived by husband of 55 years, Russell; daughters, Patricia (Michael) Reinert, Mary (Tom) Jacques and Nancy (Kevin) Daley; sons, Michael (Sheila) Gilmer and James (Jayne) Gilmer; son-in-law, Doug Holtz; grandchildren, Rachel, Joel, Gina, Jeff, Cece, Dominic, Nicole, Megan, Blake, Katie, Thom, Amy, Andy, Jojo, Justin, Danielle and Mitchell; great-grandson, Sage; brother, Dr. Franklin and Carol Jung and brother-in-law, Dr. James Hammarsten.

Margaret A. Seidenkranz

Margaret A. Seidenkranz, 92, of Venice, Fla. died Tuesday, March 16, 2004. She was born June 9, 1911, to Hudson and Esther Guy in Cedar.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Minnesota.

She graduated from St. Cloud State Teacher's College in St. Cloud, and was a kindergarten teacher for the Osseo Minnesota School District until she retired in 1971. Mrs. Seidenkranz was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 179 in Osseo and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice, Fla. One of her favorite activities was gardening.

Mrs. Seidenkranz is survived her husband of 71 years, Victor of Venice, Fla.; son, Timothy (Ann) of Venice, Fla; and several loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son, Dennis; brother, Aldean Guy; and sister, Evelyn Rodgers.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Margaret Seidenkranz Memorial Fund, 870 Royal Rd., Venice, FL 34293.

John A. Weidenbach

Services for John W. "Big John" Weidenbach, 56, of Minneapolis were Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the Evans-Nordby Funeral Home in Osseo.

Interment was at the Mound Cemetery in Brooklyn Center.

Mr. Weidenbach died Monday, March 15, 2004, in Minneapolis. He was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Minneapolis.

He is survived by his parents, Alexander and Myrtle; brothers, David of Minneapolis, and Mark (Becky) and their children Emily and Ryan; sister, Frances (Robert) Sonmore of Baton Rouge, La.; also many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mr. Weidenbach is preceded in death by his mother, Marcella; and nephew, Sean.

He was a long time employee of Access Ability.

Special thanks to the City of the Lakes staff and nurses 2 West and the Hospice of the Twin Cities.

Floyd J. Beck

Services for Floyd J. Beck, 84, of Rogers were Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at the Catholic Church of Mary, Queen of Peace (formerly St. Martin's) in Rogers. Reverend Peter Richards officiated.

Interment with military rites followed at St. Martin Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Chad Beck, Josh Constant, Troy Beck, Eric Gimpl, Shane Bauer and Nick Holker.

Mr. Beck died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at the Anoka Care Center. He was born March 19, 1919, in Minneapolis to Otto and Roma Arsenieau Beck.

He honorably served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army.

On June 16, 1948, Floyd Beck and Elizabeth Aydt were joined in holy marriage at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Rogers. God blessed their marriage with six children.

Mr. Beck was employed for many years in sales and carpet installation.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of Mary, Queen of Peace in Rogers.

Mr. Beck also belonged to VFW Post 5518.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth J. Beck; children, Diane (Tom) Constant, Bruce (Mary) Beck and Scott Beck and friend Eileen, all of Elk River, Barry Beck of Sauk Centre, Myra (Rick) Van Horn of Monticello and Wendy (Butch) Gimpl of St. Michael; nine grandchildren, a great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Beck is preceded in death by his granddaughter, April; parents, Otto and Roma Beck; and two brothers.

Helen M. Burr

Services for Helen Marie Burr, 79, of Osseo were Friday, March 12, 2004, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

Interment was at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Maple Grove.

Mrs. Burr died Monday, March 8, 2004, in Anoka. She was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Corcoran.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Susan) Burr of Maple Grove; daughter, Dorothy (Blane) Schmidt of Rogers; grandchildren, David and Melissa Burr, and Scott and John Bongaarts; sister, Inez (Lawrence) Koehler; and sister-in-law, Harriet Ebert.

Mrs. Burr is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth Ebert; husband of 49 years, Leonard; brothers, George and Nels Ebert; and sister, Dorothy Hein.

Arthur D. Crone

Services for Arthur D. Crone, 71, of Backus, formerly of Brooklyn Center, were Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center.

Interment was at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Osseo.

Mr. Crone passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at his home in Backus after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 8, 1932, in Minneapolis.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Arlene; father, Howard Crone; brothers, Gerald and Howard Lee (Kathy); children, Sandra (Dick) Elliott, Steven (Debra) Crone, Susan (Larry) Bolton, Sheri (Brian) Bodick, Angela (Tony) Klimek, Andrea Harrer, Audrey (Jeff) Dibble, and Andrew (Erin) Crone; grandchildren, Meghan, Lizzy, Brooks, Mike, Chrissy, Ricky, Lissa, Danny, Jolene, Jerr, Julie, Kelly, Brad, Ann, Brady, Jenny, Jeff and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jordan, Lilly and Dru; and special friends, Tex, Sparky, Kitty and Tigger.

Mr. Crone is preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldline; infant son, Michael; and mother, Grace Crone.

Bernice I. Cummings

Services for Bernice Irene Cummings, 74, of Maple Grove were Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Maple Grove.

Interment was at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.

Mrs. Cummings died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, in Robbinsdale. She was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Detroit, Mich.

She is survived by her children, Glenn (Marilyn) Woolhiser, Catherine (James) Burnevik, William (Deborah) Cummings, Nancy (Robert) Tronnier, Judy (Frank) McLeod, Linda Cummings and Kimberly Cummings; sister, Jean Bogardus; grandchildren, Sarah, Sophie, Carver, Katie and Madeline; and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Cummings is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Woolhiser; and second husband, Vernon Cummings.

Olaf 'Ole' Elo

Services for Olaf "Ole" Elo, 85, of Buffalo, formerly of International Falls, were Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Peterson Chapel, Buffalo.

Rev. Highland Goodman officiated at the service. Marlene Mohwinkel was the organist and Becky Hahanke sang "On Eagles Wings" The congregational hymns were "In The Garden" and "Amazing Grace".

Visitation was from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Elo died Jan. 7, 2004, at Park View Care Center, Buffalo. He was born March 15, 1918, at International Falls, son of Charles and Rosa Vertainen Elo.

He was united in marriage to Lois Jane Amundson March 22, 1945, in Duluth.

Ole enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and dancing.

Mr. Elo is survived by his wife Lois; children James (Gay) Elo of Lake Forest, Calif., Thomas (Cheryl) Elo of Buffalo, Barbara (Ron) Bernard of Maple Grove and Sandra (David) Dault of Jordan; grandchildren, Bradley (Nichola) Elo, Krista Bernard, Stacie Dault, Kimberly Bernard, Steve Dault and Cameron (Heather) Elo; great-grandchildren, Charles, McKenna and Madelyn Elo; also other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents.

Earlan H. Kohls

Services for Earlan H. Kohls, 68, of Delano, were Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Rev. Paul Krentz officiated and interment was in Watertown Public Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Ryan Kohls, Ryan Jopp, Kyle Kohls, Todd Neumann, Troy Neumann and Mark Leaf.

Mr. Kohls died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born Oct. 3, 1935 in New Germany, the son of Hugo and Helen (Lueck) Kohls. He was baptized Oct. 20, 1935 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany and confirmed April 10, 1949 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Watertown.

On Aug. 10, 1957 he married Gloria L. Reese at St. Mark Lutheran Church.

He was a graduate of Watertown High School and was an Army veteran. His entire lifetime was spent in farming, which he enjoyed to the fullest. He developed a strong desire to live in the past several months and went out with a renewed sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by wife, Gloria; parents, Hugo and Helen Kohls; sister, Viona Lahr and grandparents.

He is survived by children and spouses, Glory Kohls and special friend, David Pawelk of Delano, Craig and JoAnne Kohls of Watertown, Colleen and Rick Jopp of Mayer, Scott Kohls and fiancee, Wendy Anderson of Delano and Amy and Bob Johnson of Rockford; grandchildren, DeAnn, Kyle, Monica, Brady, Ryan, Heather, Krista, Alicia, Megan, Zachary, Bradley and Michaela; sisters and brother-in-law, Eldoras and Myron Schuette of Mayer and Cordella Morschen of Chaska; brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Susan Kohls of Delano; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat Reese of Excelsior, Joanne and Don Crisanti of Crows Landing, Calif., Arlo and Rita Reese of Rockford; special friend, Mary Ann VonBank of Chaska; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
