Irene Roeder

Services for Irene Dora Roeder, 92, of Osseo were Thursday, March 4, 2004, at 3 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

Rev. Steven C. Briel officiated and interment followed at the church cemetery.

Ardis Radintz was the organist of the funeral service. "O Lord, Throughout These Forty Days," "All Who Believe and Are Baptized," "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" were sung as congregational hymns.

Casket bearers were Scott Koch, David Koch, Justin Roeder, Matthew Roeder, Dennis Wagner and Dan Koehler.

Mrs. Roeder died Monday, March 1, 2004, at North Ridge Care Center in New Hope. She was born Feb. 17, 1912, in Corcoran the daughter of Fred and Lydia Beier Schutte.

She was baptized by Rev. John Fackler March 24, 1912, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith March 28, 1926, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. H.R. Klemp.

She was given Acts 4:12 as her confirmation memory verse where her Lord reminded her: "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved." She remained faithful to the promises she made at her confirmation and was a lifetime member of St. John's.

On April 19, 1933, Irene D. Schutte and Leonard H. Roeder were joined in holy marriage at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. H.R. Klemp. God blessed their marriage with four children.

Mr. and Mrs. Roeder engaged in farming in Maple Grove for many years. Mr. Roeder preceded his wife in death in 1958.

She always had a strong work ethic. She formerly had an egg route in both Osseo and Robbinsdale. She also was formerly employed at Ackerman's Greenhouse.

She served as a volunteer at the Economy Center on W. Broadway for 10 years.

She enjoyed rug making, flowers, flea markets and her lake home near Ogilvie.

She was survived by three children, Sandra Koch of Monticello, Paul (Donna) Roeder of Maple Grove and Marilyn Roeder of Osseo; seven grandchildren, Brenda, Brian and Bonnie, Scott and David, and Justin and Matthew; six great grandchildren, Eric and Jeff Tuttle, Brandon, Travis and Crystal and Maxfield; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Schutte of Corcoran; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Roeder in 1990; her parents, Fred and Lydia Schutte; a brother, Alfred Schutte; and by four sisters, Emma Schutte, Clara Koehler, Helen Barthel and Ella Lyytinen.

Peter Walsh

Services for Peter Walsh, 63, of Maple Grove were Monday, March 15, 2004, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Crystal.

Mr. Walsh passed away Monday, March 1, 2004.

He was a chemical dependency counselor with Abbott Northwestern for many years. He will be missed by the many lives he touched in the field of chemical dependency.

Mr. Walsh is survived by his loving wife, Michele Weiler-Walsh; son, Peter; daughters, Tricia Grayson, Melissa Jones, Kati Nemeth and Kari Nemeth; step-sons, Jim (Michelle) Weiler and Steven Weiler; numerous grandchildren, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

His memories will always be with his family, friends, and his best buddy, Frazier. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.

Judith Bethke

Services for Judith "Judy" L. Bethke, 43, of Otsego were Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers.

Rev. Rick Skare officiated.

Michael Sahlen was the pianist. Common Ground sang "More Precious Than Gold," "I Can Only Imagine," "Amazing Grace" and "This Little Light of Mine."

Joshua Kramer, Rebecca Kramer, Aric Bethke, Aaron Michael Bethke, Aaron John Bethke, Andrew Bethke and Jeremiah Kramer served as casket bearers. Rachel Kramer and Katherine Jones served as honorary casket bearers.

Mrs. Bethke died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

She was born Aug. 16, 1960, in Minneapolis the daughter of Robert and Winnifred Champlin Watts.

She was baptized and confirmed March 2, 1972, at Valley View Christian Church in Fridley.

On June 19, 1993, Judy Jones and Byron Bethke were joined in holy marriage at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers. Rev. John T. Christianson officiated.

Mrs. Bethke loved nature and working outside in her healing garden. Her favorite flowers were the Stargazer Lilies. She loved to travel, learn new languages and was a wonderful baker. Spending time with her family was always very important.

She is survived by her husband, Byron of Otsego; children, Aaron, Cassandra and Tyler Bethke, all of Otsego; her Mother, Winnifred Jones of Blaine; her father, Robert Watts of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a brother, Larry (Ginny) Jones of Houston, Texas; grandmother, Ruth Watts of Hays, Kan.; parents-in-law, Emil and Delores Bethke of Greenfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leonard W. Burr

Services for Leonard Wesley Burr, 90, of Anoka are today Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Maple Grove.

Mr. Burr died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in Anoka. He was born Jan. 20, 1914, in Pocahontas, Iowa, to Ervin and Mabel (Dick) Burr.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen; children, Kenneth (Susan) of Maple Grove, and Dorothy (Blane) Schmidt of Rogers; grandchildren, David Burr, Melissa Burr, Scott Bongaarts and John Bongaarts.

Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church.

Walter Gagnon

Services for Walter Gagnon, 77, of Champlin were Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Anoka.

Rev. Mike Van Sloun officiated. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Anoka.

Mr. Gagnon died Jan. 24, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. He was born March 15, 1926, in Green Valley, Minn., to Walter and Edmay Rose (nee Duarand) Gagnon.

He was a member of the Anoka Knights of Columbus and retired from Hoffman Engineering after 26 years.

Mr. Gagnon was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and grandson, Daniel.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine; children, Marcella (Donald) Blank, Charlotte (Earl) Cordes, Sharon (Ted) Deilke and Douglas (Janel) Gagnon; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and sister, Diane (Lyle) Struthers.

Gladys Holmes

Services for Gladys Pauline (Shaw) Holmes, 79, of Charles City, Iowa, were Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Trinity Methodist United Church in Charles City.

She was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Mrs. Holmes died at her son's home in Maple Grove Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born April 20, 1924.

The family appreciates Allina Hospice and all their friends who kept Mrs. Holmes in their prayers this last year.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Holmes; daughter, Myrna (Eli) Leija of Washington; son, Roger (Ann) Holmes of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Michelle (Earl) Maijala, Elizabeth "Besty" (Mark) Faeber, Amy Gabel, Maggie Holmes, Randy Gabel and Ryan Gabel; one great-grandson, Jacob Wyatt.

Memorials are preferred to Allina Hospice or Trinity Methodist Church (for radio broadcast of church services).

Karen Hatz

A memorial services for Karen Hatz, 41, of Champlin was held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at Plymouth covenant church in Plymouth. She passed away Jan. 26. Survived by her parents, Maynard and Gail Hatz, brother and sisters, Linda (Glenn) Lindell, James (Sandra) Hatz, Deborah (Mark) Moshier, nieces and nephews, Amanda, Daniel, and Joshua Lindell, Melissa and Kevin Mosier, and Justin Hatz, other relatives and friends. No flowers please.

Jane Kidd

Services for Jane Kidd, 89, of Osseo were Monday, March 1, 2004, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park.

Interment was at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Osseo.

Mrs. Kidd died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, in Brooklyn Center. She was born Oct. 25, 1914 in Osseo.

She is survived by her daughters, Pat Kidd Nielsen and Marge Haff; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kidd is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; daughter, Eleanor Kidd Waddell; son, Bob Kidd; and great-granddaughter, Michelle Kidd.

"We want to thank everyone for their calls, visits, and their work that helped keep Jane at home almost to the end. A special thank you to North Hospice for their loving care," the family said.

Memorials are preferred to North Hospice.

Clara Kolles

Services for Clara M. Kolles, 98, of Buffalo and formerly of Albertville were Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Albert's Catholic Church in Albertville.

Rev. Peter Richards and Monsignor James Habiger were Concelebrants. Mary Lou Kolles was the organist.

Interment was at St. Albert's Cemetery.

Thomas Becker, Andrew Becker, David Becker, Raymond Dahlheimer, Gary Greninger and Larry Kolles served as casket bearers.

Mrs. Kolles died Thursday Feb. 19, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.

She was born Oc. 15, 1905, in Hassan Township, Hennepin County, the daughter of Pius and Frances Stadtmueller Becker.

On June 22, 1932, Clara Becker and Marcus Kolles were joined in holy marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church. God blessed their marriage with five children.

She was a lifelong member of St. Albert's Catholic Church in Albertville and belonged to its Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid.

She is survived by her children: Sylvester Kolles of Albertville, Gordon (Kathleen) Kolles of Richfield, Sister Anita Kolles SSND of Rogers, Irene (Alphonse) Theis of Hastings and Kathleen (John) Knapp of Torrance, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lucille Kolles of Albertville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus, May 5, 1986; parents, Pius and Frances Becker; brothers, Joseph, William, Alois, Henry and Thomas; sisters, Theresa, Philomena, Mathilda and Sister Melania SSND.

Milton P. Kottke

Services for Milton P. Kottke, 90, formerly of Maple Grove, were Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Corcoran. Reverend Debra Clausen officiated.

Interment was at Immanuel Methodist Cemetery in Maple Grove.

Leanne LaFave was the organist for the funeral service. Shari Reiter sang "In The Garden."

Casket bearers were: Robert Colebank, Todd Polzin, John Holmer, Ellis Parker, Gordon Jobes and Curtis Wegner.

Mr. Kottke died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at North Ridge Care Center. He was born March16, 1913, in Maple Grove Township, Hennepin County, the son of Herman and Lena Keller Kottke.

Mr. Kottke graduated from Osseo High School in 1931. As a young man, he served in the CCC in Washington State.

Mr. Kottke along with his brother Clarence engaged in dairy farming on his family's homestead in Maple Grove. Their farmland was sold to Osseo School Dist. 279 in 1974. However, Mr. Kottke's interest in farming never waned and continued until his death.

He was a faithful member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Corcoran. He was a longtime usher and held many church offices through the years.

He formerly served on the Maple Grove Council and as a director of the Burschville Cooperative.

Mr. Kottke and his brother Clarence enjoyed going to the Rogers Truck Stop every day for lunch where they liked socializing with its staff. He also enjoyed playing cards.

He is survived by 10 nieces, Marvel Erickson, Erma Jobes, Lila Polzin, Myrtle Orgon, Nora Johnson, Carol Wegner, Betty Holmer, Elaine Sutherland, Ruth Colebank and La Vonne Parker; and nephew, Wilbur Pipenhagen.

Mr. Kottke is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lena Kottke; brothers, Ernest Klatt, Richard, George and Clarence Kottke; sisters, Elsie Klatt, Adela Pipenhagen and Elizabeth Krause; and six nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to Immanuel United Methodist Church Building Fund or the donor's choice.
