Leo Plude

A memorial service for Leo Plude Jr., 60, of Minneapolis, formerly of Dayton, was Wednesday, Feb. 23. 2005, at Washburn-McReavy Swanson Chapel, in Minneapolis.

For more than 25 years Mr. Plude worked as a district manager for the Star Tribune. There he made many friends and considered them to be a second family. To know Leo was to love him. He was very proud to work for that organization.

Mr. Plude passed away peacefully surrounded by family members. It was his wish to be cremated and to have his remains kept until his beloved wife passes on. At that time they will be buried together for eternity.

Mr. Plude was preceded in death by parents, Leo and Rhea Plude; sister, Tudy Mack; children, Angela and Jonathan Cain; grandson Matthew.

He is survived by beloved wife of 33 years, Sandra; sons, Jeff "JJ" (Kirsten) and Pierre Plude, Jason and Aaron Cain and daughter, Robyn Cain; sisters, Marie Ann (Lloyd) Cyr, and Betty Lou (Bob) Segner; godmother, Betty Ann Scharber; 11 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Leo will be deeply missed by his friends up north who visited Tom's Resort, neighbors, and by all who knew him. His grandchildren's hearts are broken; they will miss their papa with all their hearts.

Sean M. Wiegand

Services for Sean M. Wiegand, 23, of Maple Grove were Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at the Evans-Nordby Funeral Home in Osseo.

Interment was at Glen Haven Cemetery.

He is survived by his parents, Sarah and Darrin Palm; brothers, Joshua Wiegand, Chadwick Palm and Corey Palm; sister, Tiffany Palm; daughters, Cara Berg and Caylee Kennedy; girlfriend, Carli Kennedy, all of Maple Grove; grandmother, Bernice Wiegand of Osseo; grandparents, Harriet and Darrel Palm of Rogers; uncles and aunts, Wayne and Kelly Wiegand of Waverly, Jeff and Katie Palm of Brooklyn Center.

If so desired, memorials may be given to the Sean M. Wiegand Memorial Fund.

Mary E. Booth

Mary Elizabeth Booth (Longbella), 85, of Osseo died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005.

Cremation will take place at Lakewood Cemetery with a family gathering at a later date.

Special appreciation is extended to the staff and friends of Berkshire Residence, Steeple Point Apartments and North Memorial Hospice Care.

She is survived by her son, Terry (Patricia) Booth of Topeka, Kan.; daughters, Sandra (Bob) Petersen of Hammond, Ore., and Dee Lynn (Eugene) Bonn of Osseo; grandchildren, Guy Booth, Amy (David) Schofield, Jennifer Petersen, Rachelle (Steven) Tait, and Nicole (Eric) Halberg; and great-grandsons, Jacob Schofield and Jakob Halberg.

Mrs. Booth is preceded in death by her parents, Jens and Esther Longbella; brothers, Ernest and LeRoy Longbella; and her husband, Charles Guy Booth.

If so, desired memorials may be given to the Osseo United Methodist Church.

Allen O'Bryan

A memorial service for Allen O'Bryan, 57, of Maple Grove and Hillman was Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Gearty-Delmore Chapel of Plymouth.

Mr. O'Bryan was born Sept. 27, 1947, in Alexandria. He died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at home surrounded by his family.

He was the founder and president of Taurus Tool, Inc.

Mr. O'Bryan was blessed with many good friends, both in Maple Grove and Hillman where he and his wife own a home on Sullivan Lake. He lived for the weekends when he could go fishing or just visit with good friends, Tim, Dennis, Terri Ann, Laura, Fred and countless others too numerous to mention, but not forgotten in Mr. O'Bryan's heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; son, Derek; mother, Elnora; brothers, Rich, Ron (Georgiann), and Darrel; nephews, Corey and Aaron; and very special sister-in-law, Patty Flakne, her husband Jim and their children Jack, Tara and Amy (Chad) McAfee.

Mr. O'Bryan is preceded in death by his father, William; and sister-in-law, Carolyn.

Memorials are preferred to the family.

Robert S. Wells

Services for Robert Scott "Scotty" Wells, 35, of Maple Grove were Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at St. Joseph Parish Community in New Hope.

Mr. Wells died unexpectedly of a sudden illness Friday, Feb. 18, 2005.

He was employed by Methodist Hospital as a safety and security officer.

He is survived by his father, Dennis of Charlottesville, Va.; mother, Nancy of N. Canton, Ohio; sister, Karen of Milwaukee, Wis.; brother, Brian of Maple Grove; grandparents, Robert Kiefer, and Wilma Wells; nieces and nephews, Hanna, Annika and Erik.

Mr. Wells is preceded in death by his sister, Deborah.

Memorials are preferred to the Robert Scott Wells Scholarship Fund to be used for law enforcement.

Viola M. Bartels

Services for Viola M. Bartels "Grandma Goose," 80, of Delano were Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Delano.

Visitation was Friday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment was in the East Mt. Olive Cemetery in Delano. Rev. Lee Hallstrom officiated at the services.

Mrs. Bartels died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at the Delano Health Care Center in Delano. She was born April 14, 1924, to Otto and Alma (Drews) Graunke in Benton Township, Carver County.

She was baptized May 18, 1924. She was confirmed on April 10, 1938, at St. Peter Church in Watertown. On June 2, 1941, Viola graduated from Watertown High School.

On Dec. 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Herbert H.W. Bartels at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano.

Mrs. Bartels was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; a brother, Orville Graunke; and her parents, Otto and Alma Graunke.

She is survived by her children: daughter, Susan and Richard Brenner, and son, Larry and Lynn Bartels; grandchildren, Kelly and Paul Grinnell, Nicky and John Schmidt, Joe Brenner, Kent Bartels, and Marissa Bartels; great granddaughters, Jessica Grinnell, Jade Kalash, Katie Grinnell and Colleen Grinnell.

Dennis Gustafson

Funeral services for Dennis Gustafson, 66, of Remer, Minn., formerly of Dayton, were Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remer.

Mr. Gustafson died Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Dennis was born June 9, 1938, to Karl and Freda Gustafson in Minneapolis. He grew up in North Minneapolis and attended North High School. Dennis was united in marriage to Nancy Wood July 15, 1961. He became a carpenter and was employed with Krause- Anderson Building Company for 37 years.

After his retirement in 1996, they moved to Remer, to enjoy the good life. Dennis enjoyed hunting, going to auctions and collecting antiques. Preceding him in death are his parents, Karl and Freda Gustafson.

He was survived by his loving wife, Nancy; son, Craig (Julie) Gustafson of Dayton; daughter, Pam Gustafson of St. Michael; five grandchildren, Jake, Katie, Emilee, Maddy and Jessie.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Remer.

Sylvia Kramer

Services for Sylvia I. Kramer, 88, of Buffalo were Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at St. Walburga Catholic Church in Fletcher.

Rev. Mark D. Moriarty was the celebrant and interment followed at St. Walburga Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Tony Kramer, Russ Kramer, Jeremy Evans, David Kramer, Jeff Kramer and Brett Kramer.

Mrs. Kramer died Saturday evening, Feb. 12, at Lake Ridge Care Center. She was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Webster, S.D., the daughter of Fred and Martha Wolf Premus.

On Jan. 29, 1938, Sylvia I. Premus and Alfred R. Kramer were joined in holy marriage in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with two sons.

She worked for more than 30 years at Control Data. She enjoyed sewing, especially making quilts, doll clothes and embroidering dishtowels.

She belonged to the Church of St. Francis in Buffalo and was a former member of the Church of St. Walburga in Fletcher.

Mrs. Kramer is survived by sons, Al (Marlene) Kramer of Buffalo and Gene (Pat) Kramer of Rogers; grandchildren, David (Kelly) Kramer, Laura (Greg) Kramber, Jeffrey (Christine) Kramer, Brett (Bobbie) Kramer, Anthony and Russell Kramer, Shannon (Trent) Snyder and Amy (Jeremy) Evans; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie and Goldie; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, Alfred R. Kramer Sr. Dec. 28, 1977; her parents, Fred and Martha Premus; four brothers and three sisters.

Lowell Zachman

Services for Lowell James Zachman, 76, of Wahkon and formerly of St. Michael were Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael.

Rev. Michael Becker was the celebrant. Interment was at the St. Michael Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Cory Eicher, Myles Marquette, Jed Eicher, Grant Marquette, Jeric Zachman, Cole Zachman, Lowell Zachman and Tanner Uselmann.

Mr. Zachman died Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Onamia. He was born Oct. 24, 1928, in St. Michael the son of Vincent and Ida Daleiden Zachman.

On June 13, 1950, Lowell J. Zachman and LaDonna M. Fricke were joined in holy marriage at St. Walburga Catholic Church in Fletcher. God blessed their marriage with six children: Bonnie, Kathy, Cindy, Jerry, Vince and Sandy.

Mr. Zachman created many memories and stories that we hope people will retell many times.

He was a former Wright County Commissioner for 12 years and a longtime St. Michael businessman having owned and operated The Corner Bar and Lowell's Diggers.

He was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael and often attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wahkon. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 4174.

He is survived by wife of 54 years, LaDonna M. Zachman; children, Bonnie (Donny) Eicher and Kathy (Butch) Marquette, all of St. Michael, Cindy (Tom) Uselmann of South Haven, Jerry (Roxann) Zachman, Vince (Brenda) Zachman and Sandy (Scott) Martinson, all of St. Michael; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister, "Tish" (Ralph) Dick of St. Michael; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Vincent and Ida Zachman.

Reuben Schmalz

Funeral services celebrating the life of Reuben Schmalz, 86, of rural Lester Prairie were Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.

Officiating was the Rev. Gerald Schwanke.

Reuben Emmert Schmalz was born on July 4, 1918, in Winsted Township, McLeod County, to William and Emma (Meyer) Schmalz. He was baptized July 18, 1918, by Rev. Walter Baumhoefner and confirmed into the faith on April 9, 1933, by Rev. J.A. Schert of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.

Mr. Schmalz is survived by his wife, Lavilla of Lester Prairie; children, Jacalyn Engelhardt (Bill) of Plymouth, Nathan Schmalz (Jacqueline) of Lester Prairie, Beverly Gilligan (Gene) of Anoka, Mary Jo Mehrl (Rev. Klaus Mehrl) of Shorewood, Ill., and Lisa Jilek (Jerry) of Minnetrista; grandchildren, Garrett Engelhardt, Kaylan Engelhardt, Melanie Eckstein (Josh), Phillip Schmalz, Megan Schmalz, Jeremy Williams, Krista Mehrl, Brandon Jilek and Anika Jilek; sisters-in-law, Irene Schmalz of Lester Prairie and Mary Krekelberg of Le Seuer; brother-in-law, Franklin Schoenke of New Germany; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Arlys Ertl

How he/she best remembered: Arlys graduated from Watertown Grade School and High School. She graduated from the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis. Arlys and her husband Romie farmed near Mayer from 1943-1980. They then moved to New Germany until she entered Elim Nursing Home in Watertown in November of 2001. She was actively involved in church, 4-H, Fair Board, School Board and community projects. Arlys loved family gatherings, attending grandchildren's activities, playing cards and decorating cakes. She was an avid Twins fan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 14, 2005 for Arlys L. Ertl age 82, of New Germany, Minnesota. She died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Elim Home in Watertown, Minnesota.

She was born August 31, 1022 at Watertown, Minnesota, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Henry Meyer (Alice Borchardt). She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. On November 20, 1943, she married Romuald J. Ertl at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Minneapolis by Father Farrell.

Arlys was preceded in death by husband Romie, daughter-in-law Candi Ertl, father and mother Henry and Alice Meyer, sister Elizabeth Ebright, father-in-law and mother-in-law Mike and Mary Ertl, and brothers-in law Larry Laumann and Albert Hoops.

Arlys is survived by her children and spouses, Mary and Mike Harms of Norwood Young America, R. James and Jane Ertl of Rosemount, Dick Ertl of Mayer, Ralph and Melanie Ertl of Mayer; grandchildren, Mandy Harms and Jeremy Schefers, Molly Harms, Joe Ertl, Jason Ertl, Heidi and Pat Gongoll, Tony Ertl, Katie Ertl and fiancée Ryan Anderson, Crystal Ertl, Alicia Ertl; sisters-in-law Vangie Laumann of Texas, Elvera Hoops of Excelsior; caregivers Gladys and Melvin Dillard of New Germany, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waconia, MN with the Father Bob White officiating. Interment is at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Waconia, MN.

Casketbearers: Mike Harms, R. James Ertl, Dick Ertl, Ralph Ertl, Tony Ertl, Jon Ertl, Jason Ertl, Jeremy Schefers, Pat Gongoll, Melvin Dillard.
