Joseph C. Bauman

Funeral services for Joseph C. Bauman, 80, of Delano were Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Rev. Michael Miller of the Delano Catholic Community officiated at the Mass.

Mr. Bauman died Saturday, Feb. 5, at his home surrounded by his loving family after his brief battle with cancer. He was born March 13, 1924, in Franklin Township at his parent's home west of Delano. There he built a life filled with love around his faith and family. He later attended St. Peter's Catholic School in Delano.

Mr. Bauman was very involved with his church. Over the years he served on the building committee, finance committee, board of trustees, cemetery board and parish council. He was an usher almost every Sunday and he often served at funeral masses. He has been a member of the Catholic Aid Association since 1940, holding positions in the local chapter of St. Anthony Council as the treasurer and secretary for many years.

The community of Delano also benefitted from Bauman's services as he and his wife, Marcella, delivered meals on wheels for 18 years.

As a young man, he developed an avid interest in the outdoors. Growing up and working on his parent's farm, he cultivated this outdoor passion by hunting and trapping. He also enjoyed woodworking, photography and trapshooting. For many years he was a member of the Delano Sportsman Club. He also taught firearm's training for many years to the young people in the area. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA, and was recently honored by being named the First Life Member of the "Big Timber Mazawaukins" (a black powder gun club).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Catherine (Muckenhirn) Bauman, two brothers: Clarence and John.

Mr. Bauman is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcella; daughters, Linda and Paul Neumann, Cecilia and Dan Gabrelcik, Franny and Ray Ross; sons, Carl, Mark, Martin and Leo; grandchildren, Lynn Neumann, Charity and Nathan Filipi, Andy and Emily Gabrelcik, Josh and Kelly Gabrelcik, Jessi Gabrelcik, Tracy Gabrelcik, Vince Ross, Tony Ross, and Paul Ross; great grandchildren, Matthew, Tanner, Samantha, Jenna, and Colin; brothers, Lawrence and Anni, Robert and Helen, Steve and Darlene, Anthony and Jean; sisters, Catherine and Dan Bauer, Rita and Peter Schmitz, Caroline and Bill Metz, Rosemary and Jack Gillis, and Dorothy Jean and Jerry Griep; sisters-in-law, Pat Bauman, Judy and John Stein, and many more relatives and friends who remain inspired and grateful for his deep faith and wonderful humor.

Lloyd John Maas Sr.

Lloyd John Maas Sr., age 76, formerly of Rockford died Friday, January 28, 2005 at The Mission Nursing Home in Plymouth.

He was born on March 28, 1928 in Maple Plain the son of Charles & Annie Schultz Maas.

Lloyd was baptized at St. Boniface Church in St. Bonifacius.

In October of 1947, Lloyd J. Maas & Viola Otto were joined in holy marriage at The Church of St. Peter in Delano. Viola preceded him in death in 1966.

Lloyd farmed for many years north of Rockford. He also formerly worked as a bricklayer for Lund-Martin and later at Winkelman Construction Company.

He enjoyed his Grandchildren, loved the out of doors, fishing, hunting, traveling and walking.

Survived by ten Children: Lloyd Maas Jr. of Maple Lake, Kathy Krone of Lester Prairie, Gary Maas of Hewitt, Susan DeMars of Winsted, Cecelia Kottke of Princeton, Kevin Maas & Brenda Elliott both of Maple Lake, Becky Huhn of Buffalo, Bonnie Maas and Bob Maas of Cambridge. 37 Grandchildren and 36 Great Grandchildren; special friend: Katie Hoffman; Sisters: Valerie Wright of Delano, Lucille Stybicky of Rockford, Delores Poliwoda, Joyce Otto & Donna Leick all of Delano and Janice Van Lith of Buffalo; Brothers: Leon Maas and Russ Maas both of Delano; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his Wife: Viola, Lloyd was preceded in death by a Son: Mike Maas in 1972, and by his Parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lloyd Maas Sr. was held on Wednesday, February 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Peter in Delano. Father Michael J. Miller was the Celebrant and interment followed at Calvary Cemetery.

Friends called on Tuesday, February 1st from 4-8 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Honorary Casket Bearer was Eric Maas.

Casket Bearers were Tom DeMars, Christy Maesse, Clayton Kottke, Mike Maas, Tom Maas & Dan Maas.

The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

Katherine G. Franske

Katherine G. Franske, age 93, of Waverly passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

She was born on July 17, 1911 in Watertown the daughter of Fred & Margaret Padden Moebius.

Katherine graduated from Watertown High School.

On August 18, 1936 Katherine G. Moebius & Henry E. Franske were joined in holy marriage at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. God blessed their marriage with three sons.

Katherine & "Heine" owned and operated the Franske Fairway Store in Waverly from the day after their wedding in 1936 until 1972. They made many friends there.

She loved Waverly, picnics at the lake, cooking and baking for her family, rocking babies and playing "31".

She approached life with such grace and gusto. What an example for all of us! "Safe Home," Katherine!

Katherine was a longtime, faithful member of The Church of St. Mary's in Waverly.

She was a loving mother to three Sons: Bob (Nancy) Franske of Eden Prairie, Jim Franske of Waverly and David (Mary Jo) Franske of Edina; six Grandchildren: Holly, Kevin, Ben, Anna, Noah and Josie; a loving Sister to John Moebius and Lucretia Doerfler; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her Husband: Henry E. Franske in 1974 and by her Mother and Father: Margaret & Fred Moebius, a Brother: Henry and by a Sister: Mary.

A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Katherine G. Franske was held on Saturday, January 29th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. Father Timothy Cloutier & Father Stan Mader were the Concelebrants and interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Therese Borrell was the organist for the Mass.

Casket Bearers were Katherine's Grandchildren: Holly Franske, Kevin Franske, Ben Franske, Anna Franske, Noah Franske & Josie Franske.

Friends called on Friday, January 28th from 4-8 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.

Lyla Rothstein

Services for Lyla M. Rothstein, 77, of Rogers were Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, Osseo.

Mrs. Rothstein died Feb. 7 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Coon Rapids. She was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Sauk Rapids.

Mrs. Rothstein was preceded in death by husband, Lloyd P.

She is survived by children, Laleen (Gary) Loomis, Lavon (Michael) Schriener, Laurel (Frederick) Behn, Larry (Joan), Lloyd (Patricia), Cindy Schwegler and Robert; brother, Glen Orren; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

If so desired, memorials may be given to the Lyla M. Rothstein Memorial Fund.

Anita Dixon

Services for Anita Clara Dixon (nee Giese), 81 years, 11 months and 18 days, of Rockford Township were Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford.

Pastor Michael Barlow officiated and interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery.

Janet Beise was the organist for the funeral service. "Amazing Grace," "Onward, Christian Soldiers," "Abide with Me! Fast Falls the Eventide" and "Asleep in Jesus! Blessed Sleep" were sung as congregational hymns.

Friends called at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo Wednesday, Feb. 2, from 4 to 9 p.m. A prayer service was held at 8:30 p.m.

Honorary casket bearers were Anita's grandsons, Chaplain Major Greg Jans, USAF, Lyle, Brad and Doug Jans.

Casket bearers were Tim Schulze, Todd Schulze, Gary Dixon, Arlyn Koecher, Randy Jude and Dwayne Lider.

Mrs. Dixon died Monday evening, Jan. 31, 2005, at her residence. She was born Feb. 13, 1923, in Greenwood Township, Hennepin County, the daughter of William and Bertha Hohenstein Giese.

She was baptized into the Lutheran faith by Pastor W.P. Haar, Sr. March 18, 1923. She was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood Township March 21, 1937, by Pastor W.P. Haar, Jr.

On March 15, 1941, Anita C. Giese and Kenneth C. Dixon were joined in holy marriage in Greenwood Township. God blessed their marriage with three children, Karen, Darvis and Andrea.

Mr. and Mrs. Dixon engaged in dairy farming for many years and she lived her entire married life on the farm near Rockford. She had a love for chickens and the out of doors. She also enjoyed crocheting.

Mrs. Dixon was a faithful member of Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford and belonged to its ladies aid. She often headed its funeral lunch committee.

She leaves to mourn a daughter, Karen (Dale) Jans and a son, Darvis Dixon, all of Buffalo; son-in-law, Mark Hauge of Beaverton, Ore.; grandchildren, Chaplain Major Gregory (Lydia) Jans, USAF, Lyle Jans, Bradley (Janet) Jans and Douglas (Denise) Jans; great grandchildren, Ali and Katie Jans, Isaac Jans, and Adam and Emily Jans; sisters, Hertha Dixon of Buffalo and Agatha (Harvey) Schulze of Rockford; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Caroline Giese, Lydia Dixon, Aaron (Lois) Dixon, Eloise (Clifford) Lieder and John (Ruth) Dixon; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by beloved husband, Kenneth C. Dixon; daughter, Andrea Hauge; parents, William and Bertha Giese; brother, Waldemar Giese and brothers-in-law, Clifford and Donald Dixon.

Barbara R. Loges

Services for Barbara R. Loges, 66, of Maple Grove were Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at the Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel.

Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Mrs. Loges died on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, following a strong and courageous fight with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Lester; children, Cecilia (Kevin) Daley, Raymond Loges, Teresa (Mike) Drinkwine, Leslie (Eric) Dietel, Pamela (Jim) Cotter, Suzanne (Scott) Wilkens; sister, Elizabeth Krieg; brother, Gerald Grosser; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many family and friends.

Mrs. Loges is preceded in death by her mother, Viola Sutter; father, Ray Revier; sister, Dianne Baros.

Memorials are preferred to the family.

Loose, Gerald F.

Loose Gerald F., age 68, of Maple Grove. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Loose. He is survived by wife, Eva; two daughters, Kim (Ron) Johnson of Corcoran; grandchildren, Zachary, Tucker, Elle, Emmi, Cooper and Jake; and Lisa (Cory) Townsend of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Ashley, Macy and Charlie; many loving relatives and friends. Jerry was an Army Veteran and a dedicated employee of Control Data and Siemens for over 30 years. He started "Little Boy" name of wood crafted ships in his retirement. He had a great interest in history, enjoyed woodworking, gardening and horseplay with his grandchildren. He was loved and will be deeply missed. Gathering of family and friends to celebrate Jerry's life will be Tuesday 1-3 PM with a prayer service at 2 PM at Gearty-Delmore Chapel of Plymouth, 37th and Vicksburg Lane. Gerald G. Lucy

Services for Gerald G. Lucy, 84, of Maple Grove were Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Maple Grove Evangelical Free Church.

Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Lucy was active in the Plymouth and Maple Grove community senior groups.

He is survived by his children, Mitch Leland of Osseo and Lisa (Bruce) LaBarge of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Kelley, Zachary, Dacodah and Dominic; cousins, Karen and Ken Kirkman; long-time friend, Donna Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Courage Center, 3915 Golden Valley Rd., Golden Valley, MN, 55422 or the Maple Grove Senior Programs.

Harvey Luitjens

Services for Harvey Luitjens, 83, of Osseo were private.

Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Luitjens passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Carol (Frank) Burrows, Steven (Roseanna) Luitjens; grandchildren, Amy, Andrew and Lauren; sisters, Leona Roelofs and Esther Johnson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Allan L. Slaney

Allan L. Slaney, 93, of Osseo, formerly of Hobe Sound, Fla. and Minneapolis died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at Berkshire Residence.

He was born May 18, 1911, in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

There will be no reviewal or services per Mr. Slaney's request.

He is survived by his sons, Richard (Ellen) of Garfield, Ariz., Dennis (Karen) of Maple Grove; daughter, Patricia Slaney-Campion of Crystal; 16 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred, Nov. 30, 1991.
