Bertrom Nelson

Services for Bertrom "Bert" Nelson, 90, of rural Buffalo and formerly of Montrose were Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo.

Rev. Ruth Ann Ramstad officiated and interment followed at Swedish Mission Cemetery.

Mr. Nelson died Saturday, March 5, at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 19, 1914, in Seven Persons, Alberta, Canada, to Carl and Ella Rasmussen Nelson.

He attended Montrose High School where he played basketball.

As a young man, Nelson worked in a CCC Camp in Northern Minnesota.

On Oct. 26, 1938, Bertrom Nelson and Marian Mae Swanson were joined in holy marriage in Buffalo. The couple had three daughters.

He was formerly employed at creameries in Montrose and at Sherman Station in McLeod County. He also worked at Minneapolis Moline and for the Hennepin County Park District.

Through the years, the couple was involved with Nelson's Nursery in Montrose and a hardware store in Watertown. However, his greatest joy was his loving family, especially his two grandsons.

For many summers, Mr. Nelson would often sell raspberries and other vegetables at a small stand along the highway in Montrose.

He formerly served on the Montrose City Council and was a longtime volunteer on The Montrose Fire Department.

Mr. Nelson was a longstanding member of the United Methodist Church in Montrose.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Nelson; an infant sister; his parents, Carl and Ella Nelson; brothers, "Buster" and Eldon; and by his sister, Arlie Olson.

He is survived by his daughters, Bette Ahles, Janis Nelson and Gayle (Gary) Klingelhoets; grandchildren, Ryan and Jeffrey Klingelhoets; sister-in-law, Joyce Andreotti; brother-in-law, Gordon Sjelin; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends including "special sons" LeRoy Kreitlow, Ron Klick and Joe Lane.

Norma Mae Lewis

Services for Norma Mae Lewis (Soderholm), 82, of Montrose were Saturday, March 19, 2005, at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Rev. Highland Goodman officiated the service.

Mrs. Lewis died Wednesday, March 2, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. She was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Columbia Heights to Joel and Rose (Maser) Soderholm.

She lived in various towns throughout her life, spending most of that time in Medicine Lake. She graduated from high school in Minneapolis. She was a devoted housewife and mother. After the children left home, she worked at various jobs outside the home. She enjoyed crafts, was involved with senior clubs and Christian women's clubs. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.

Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, William Soderholm, Bernice Kubie and Ellora Strumke.

She is survived by her children, Jim Lewis of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Patricia Leith of Houston, Texas, Shirley Poore of Columbia Heights, Carrie Bren of Brooklyn Center, Richard Lewis of Montrose, Gene (Debra) Lewis of Le Center and Mark Lewis of Buffalo; siblings, Joyce Lewis of Coon Rapids, John (Evelyn) Soderholm of Tennessee and Charles (Shirley) Soderholm of Grand Marais; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Clarence W. Farniok

Services for Clarence W. "Bosco" Farniok, 74 of Buffalo formerly Watertown were Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with Rev. Peter Meier officiating.

Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Mayer. Casket bearers were Dennis Farniok, Kenny Pearson, Raymond Farniok Jr., Jeff Glaeser, George Motzko Jr. and Doug Lenzen.

Mr. Farniok died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo. He was born Aug. 18, 1930, at Delano the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Farniok nee Nellie Cebulla. He was baptized September of 1930 at St. Mary's of Czestochowa Catholic Church in rural Delano. He was confirmed Dec. 17, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by Rev. M. F. Rische.

On Oct. 22, 1952, he married Lucille M. Schumann at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by Rev. M. F. Rische.

Bosco was a loving husband, dad, papa and great grandpa. He loved to fish, go deer hunting with his five sons, do gardening, play cards, listen to "old tyme music." He had a good sense of humor and was a friend to all. He was a church elder and was a school board member at Zion Lutheran School in Mayer. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He also was a member of the Watertown Fire Department of 25-plus years and was lifetime member of the Watertown American Legion Post. The Legion and Fire Department participated in the funeral service. He also served as a city councilman in Watertown.

Mr. Farniok was preceded in death by great granddaughter, Michaela; parents, Michael and Nellie Farniok; sister, Evelyn Kruzel; and brother, Raymond Farniok.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lucille; children and spouses, Mike and Nancy Farniok of Monticello, Judy and Ron Schesso of St. Bonifacius, Kim Farniok of Chanhassen, Keith and Becky Farniok of Eden Prairie, Chris and Sandy Farniok of Waconia, Corey and Michelle Farniok of Buffalo, and Torrey and June Farniok of Buffalo; grandchildren, Jason and Amy, Trina and Nate, Mandy, Brett, Desiree, Dylan, Kari, Abby, Ryan, Jill, Joey, Andrew, Lauren and Noah; great grandchildren, Skyler, Bridget, Jaylen, Carter and Camryn; sisters, Mary Motzko of Watertown, Lorraine Duske of Watertown, and Eleanor Pearson of Watertown; brother and sisters-in-law, Ed and Shirley Farniok of Waverly, and Vivian Farniok of Arlington; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Myra and Al Lenzen of Winsted, and Betty Glaeser of Norwood Young America; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Maggie A. Weinzierl

Services for Maggie A. Weinzierl, 94, of St. Bonifacius were Saturday March 19, 2005, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius with Father Joseph Gallatin as celebrant of the Mass.

Interment was at St.. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.

Casket bearers were her grandsons, Mike Meuwissen, David Meuwissen, Jim Meuwissen, Bruce Casperson, Brian Casperson, Todd Weinzierl, Erik Thiesfeld, Nathan Thiesfeld, Aaron Thiesfeld and Trevor Weinzierl.

Mrs. Weinzierl died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Elim Home in Watertown. She was born in Delano March 10, 1911, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Mathias Theisen nee Margaret Stumpf. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano.

Maggie was united in marriage to George J. (Butch) Weinzierl Sept. 9, 1931, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano.

She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, St. Boniface Catholic Aid, St. Boniface Catholic Church and the St. Bonifacius Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed her family and family gatherings. She loved to cook, bake, sew, knit and work in her garden. She worked at Tonka Toys for many years.

Mrs. Weinzierl was preceded in death by her husband, George J. (Butch) Weinzierl; son-in-law, Donald Charland; parents, Mathias and Margaret Theisen; sisters, Barbara Theisen, Tillie Doerfler and Jenny Lyrek; brothers, John, Frank and Andrew Theisen.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Betty Charland of Eagan, Shirley and Bernie Meuwissen of Beaverton, Ore., Marge and Bill Shinehouse of Belle Plain, Georgian and Bill Hilgers of Waconia, Mary and Phil Casperson of Backus, George Jr. (Butch) and Dorothy Weinzierl of Watertown, Gloria and Dale Thiesfeld of Norwood Young America, and Ron Weinzierl of Shakopee; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, one great, great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joseph Houser

Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Houser, 57, of Champlin, was Monday, March 21, 2005, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Anoka.

He died March 17 after fighting a courageous battle against pulmonary fibrosis. Knights of Columbus Service were Sunday evening at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka.

Mr. Houser is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Norene; children, Catherine (Duane) Hall of New Germany and Jason of St. Petersburg, Fla.; grandson, Mitchell Hall; mother, Verleitta Houser; brothers, Timothy (Shelley) of Ramsey and Michael of Minneapolis; numerous loving family members and friends.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2018 and St. Stephen's Catholic Church where he ushered for over 30 years. Mr. Houser was a loving and caring soul and will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by father, Joseph C. Houser; grandparents, Fritz and Elsie Oehlertz and Arthur and Catherine Houser. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery.

Raymond Herrboldt

Services for Raymond Herrboldt, 82, of Anoka were Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka.

He died Saturday, March 12, at Twin Rivers Care Center in Anoka.

He was born on April 15, 1922, in Highmore, S. D. Mr. Herrboldt was a retired farmer.

He is preceded in death by wife, Lola (Marsolais); son, Raymond Herrboldt Jr.; parents, Frederick and Caroline Herrboldt; six brothers; and four sisters.

Survived by sons, Larry (Rita Whalen) Herrboldt of Delano, Chet (Karen) Herrboldt of Princeton, Leroy (Lori) Herrboldt of Elk River; daughters, Judy (Corwin) Kronenberg of Bloomington, Donna (David) Augustson of Eagan, Dolores (Bill) Ruckel of Andover; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Tillie Herrboldt, of Elk River; many other relatives and friends.

Interment is at the Champlin Cemetery.

Peggy Hanson

A memorial service for Peggy Hanson, 49, of Champlin, is TODAY Tuesday, March 22, at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Post #600, in Champlin. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the legion.

She is preceded in death by father, Frank Peterson. She is survived by mother, Mildred Peterson; sisters, Gloria (Pat) Blood and Linda Peterson; brother, Wayne (Shari) Peterson; husband, Steven; children, Andrew (Jenny) and Anthony Hanson; also, many other relatives and friends.

Ms. Hanson was First Vice Commander of the American Legion Post #600 in Champlin. She was a dedicated accountant until the end. She went peacefully to the Lord, after a 15-month struggle with lung cancer. Peggy won all the battles but finally lost the war.

Genevieve Dickey

A memorial service for Genevieve Dickey, age 78, of Champlin were Monday, March 14, at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church, Champlin.

She is preceded in death by husband, Lester; and son, Donald. Survived by son, Craig (Arlene) Dickey; grandchildren, Alicia (Phillip) Woodhall, Chad Dickey and Randy Dickey; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Makenna; sister, Marilyn (Charles) Woods; sister-in-law, Glori Ann Jensen; many nieces and nephews. Private interment at Ft. Snelling Cemetery.

Raymond Herrboldt

Stan E. Johnson

A memorial service for Stan E. Johnson, 79, of Maple Grove was Saturday, March 5, 2005, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

He passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2005.

Mr. Johnson served in the Air Force during WWII.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy; children, Vicki (Jon) Bartley, Gary S. (Chris), Kelly M. (Sharon); 10 grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Dietl and Doris (Ray) Moeri; other relatives and friends.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.

Leo Salonek

Services for Leo Salonek, 76, of Montrose were Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.

Mr. Salonek died Monday, Feb. 28, at his home in Woodland Township. He was born Feb. 8, 1929, to Theodore and Theresa (Lyrek) Salonek.

Mr. Salonek was a lifelong farmer in Woodland Township.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen, and by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marge; sons, Jeffrey and Sharee Salonek, and Tim and Patty Salonek; daughter, Carrie and Jim Eischens; eight grandchildren, Shawn and Barbara Gavin, Angela Salonek, Diana Wreisner, Steven and Jody Salonek, Phillip Salonek, Terry Eischens, Randy Eischens and Stephanie and Carl Duncan; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul and Elaine Salonek, Urban and Rose Salonek, and Ted and Jean Salonek; and sisters, Ann and George Lambrecht and Donna and Don Bloom.

Lorraine M. Bentz

Services for Lorraine M. Bentz, 75, of Delano were Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Delano.

Rev. Paul Marggraf officiated the service with music provided by Connie Lemmerman, organist. Interment was held at the West Mt. Olive Cemetery in Delano

Mrs. Bentz died Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. She was born Oct. 3, 1929, to Albert and Lillian (Meyer) Lemmerman in Watertown, Minn.

Msr. Bentz was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Bentz.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol and Dave Ketcham, Joyce and Ron Minard, Diane and Jan Pierce and Donna Bentz; brothers, Marvin and Connie Lemmerman and Loren and Sharon Lemmerman; nine grandchildren, Peter and Daniel Ketcham, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Matthew, Michelle and William Wefel, Sarah and Jennifer Pierce and many other relatives.
