Albert Thielen
A memorial service for Albert Thielen, age 67, of Champlin, were Sunday, March 6 at Christ Community Church in Maple Grove. Mr. Thielen went home on March 1, 2005. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Teri (Jim) Prokott; children of his heart, April (Jake) Glander, Erin (Michael) Thorner; grandchildren, Corinne, Heather, Riley, Kaylee, and "Baby Glander to-be;" great-grandson, Tyler; sister, Gayle (Ken) Williams; Kathy Tillman; and brother, Ed (Diana) Thielen.
Leon H. Scharber
A Memorial Mass for Leon Scharber, age 89, of Dayton is Friday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 18380 Columbus St., Dayton. He was born Feb. 29, 1916 to John and Susan Mary (Marx) Scharber in Dayton. Mr. Scharber was a retired shot shell assembly worker from Federal Cartridge. He died Thursday, March 3 at the Anoka Care Center. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Margaret Scharber, Alice (Mark) Hartkopf and Christina (Jeffrey) Schuldt; grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Timothy and Christopher Hartkopf, Joshua, Jacob and Sarah Schuldt; great-grandchildren, Winter and Ivan; sisters, Geraldine Scharber and Florence (Bernard) Lenz; many other family and friends. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment is at St. John's Cemetery.
Laura Lee
Services for Laura Lee, age 93 of Anoka were Friday, March 4 at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka. Mrs. Lee died at Twin Rivers Care Center in Anoka on Feb. 28, 2005. She was born in Anoka on Feb. 4, 1912. She is preceded in death by parents, Frank & Mary French; sister, Mary Peterson; and brother, Henry French. Survived by husband of 72 years, Herb; daughter, Marlys (Bill) Campbell of Champlin; grandchildren, Danette Campbell of Maple Grove, Scott (Deb) Campbell of Sauk Rapids, and Patti (Brian) Gronski of Andover; great grandchildren, Andrew, Kathryn, and Emily Campbell, and Stella Gronski; nieces and nephews. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Anoka.
Thomas Christopher
Services for Thomas James Christopher, 47, of St. Michael were Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Parker's Lake Baptist Church in Plymouth.
Rev. Craig Muri and Rev. Steve Cornelius officiated and interment with military rites followed at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Steve Christopher, Mike Christopher, Ronald Pierce, James Neumann, George Neumann and A.J. Khalil.
Mr. Christopher died Sunday, Feb. 27, at his residence. He was born May 24, 1957, in Crystal the son of Donald J. and BettiLou Elwell Christopher.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.
On April 23, 1988, Thomas James Christopher and Dawn Victoria Neumann were joined in holy marriage at Parker's Lake Baptist Church in Plymouth. God blessed their marriage with two children, Jason Thomas Christopher and Amber Dawn Christopher.
He was employed as general manager of Weld & Sons Plumbing Co. in Plymouth.
He enjoyed God's natural world and also fishing.
He was a faithful follower of his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mr. Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Dawn V. Christopher; two children, Jason Thomas Christopher and Amber Dawn Christophern, both at home; his mother, BettiLou Christopher of Otsego; brother, Steve (Brenda) Christopher of Mora; sister, Julie (Ron) Pierce of Anoka; brother, Mike (Sandra) Christopher of Arlington, Texas; and sister, Anna (AJ) Khalil of Otsego; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Evie Neumann of Wyoming, Minn.; brother-in-law, Jim (Heather) Neumann of Rolla, Mo.; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Christopher.
Randall Siewert
Services for Randall G. "Randy" Siewert, 37, of St. Michael and formerly of Monticello were Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral home.
Speakers were Joe Zahler and Kelly Paradais. Organist for the funeral service was Breonna Zahler and the vocalist was Katrina Zahler.
Mr. Siewert died Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Fairview-University Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was born Sept. 30, 1967, in Robbinsdale the son of Walter G. "Bud" and Kay J. Richardson Siewert.
He graduated from Monticello High School in 1986.
He was formerly employed as a production worker at the Walter G. Anderson Co.
Mr. Siewert is survived by his loving mother, Kay J. Siewert of St. Michael; sisters, Tamra Siewert of Plymouth and Sandra (Martin) Zahler of St. Michael; a niece and nephew, Katrina and Andrew Zahler; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter G. "Bud" Siewert in 1992; paternal grandparents, Walter and Catherine Siewert and maternal grandparents, Eugene "Tom" and Louise Richardson.
Walter Deisting
Services for Walter Arnold Deisting, 88, of Buffalo were Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield.
Rev. Dennis K. Strong officiated and interment followed at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
David Farstad was the organist for the funeral service. Congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art," "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand."
Honorary casket bearers were Clarence Oswald, Warren Duerr, Wayne Duerr and Archie Jubert.
Casket bearers were Arvid, David, Kenneth and Robert Klatt, Dwight Deisting and Randy Deisting.
Mr. Deisting died Thursday, Feb. 17, at Lake Ridge Care Center.
He was born Jan. 22, 1917, in Hamel the son of Christ and Bertha Tessmer Deisting.
He was baptized Feb. 18, 1917, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood Township, Hennepin County. He was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith April 13, 1930, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
As a young man, Mr. Deisting farmed with his brother Albert near Hamel. He later was employed in welding and tool sales. He also was an A.I. cattle breeder and sold De Laval milking supplies. He eventually owned and operated Hanover Hardware and Brigadoon Liquor in Coleraine.
Mr. Deisting enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
He was a lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield and served as a Trustee and on the Building Committee.
He is survived by sisters and brothers, Leona L. Klatt, Albert (Phyllis) Deisting and Elaine D. Klatt, all of Buffalo, Carl (Betty) Deisting of Willmar and Robert (Dolores) Deisting of South St. Paul; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Christ and Bertha Deisting; infant brothers, Herbert and Ervin; brothers-in-law, Donald and Richard Klatt; and a sister-in-law, Jean Deisting.
Mary Violett
Services for Mary Elizabeth Violett, loving mom, grandma, sister and friend, 58, were Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.
Rev. Marlo Miller officiated and interment followed at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Colleen Johnson was the organist for the funeral service. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace" and "Lord of All Hopefulness."
Casket Bearers were Ron Wrolson, Art Isackson, Jon "Skip" Peterson, Scott Dillingham, Pete Knapp and Ken Robeck.
Ms. Violett died Thursday, Feb. 24, at her home in St. Michael after a four-and-a-half year courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 22, 1946, in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Edward and Muriel Gulbranson Knapp.
She graduated from Alexandria High School and later attended the University of Minnesota.
She was formerly employed as a sales representative at the Bemis Co.
Ms. Violett was a past President of the Minnesota United Snowmobiler's Association (Mn/USA) and Minnesota Women on Snow. She also served as a past Minnesota Representative at the International Snow Mobile Congress.
She was one of a kind with a generous heart. Throughout her illness she continued to live life to the fullest. Her warm smile and wonderful knack for making people laugh will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a loving daughter, Jenny (Steve) Robeck of St. Michael; grandson, Jake Robeck; a brother, Emil (Carol) Knapp of Sioux Falls; nephews, Pete (Kimberly) Knapp and Sam (Alice) Knapp; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Muriel Knapp and by a brother, Ryan Knapp.
Keith Heidelberger
Services for Keith William Heidelberger, 23, were Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Christ Lutheran Church in Otsego.
Rev. Gregory M. Pagh officiated. Pallbearers were Brian Nelson, Kevin Peters, Mike Barros, Ryan Rutz, Rob Vandell and Nik Eccless.
Mr. Heidelberger died from injuries he received in an auto crash Sunday, Feb. 27, near Monticello on Interstate 94. He was born Sept. 29, 1981, in Coon Rapids the son of Craig A. and Bonnie J. Banyon Heidelberger.
He was a cabinetmaker and custom furniture maker by trade.
He enjoyed hunting, especially bow hunting, fishing, snowboarding, playing pool, watching movies and being with his many friends.
Mr. Heidelberger is survived by his loving parents, Craig A. and Bonnie J. Heidelberger of Monticello; and sister, Jodi Lynn Heidelberger at home; paternal grandmother, Beatrice Heidelberger of St. Michael; maternal grandfather, Dale Banyon of Monticello; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Heidelberger and maternal grandmother, Donna Banyon.
Lavina L. Engstrom
Services for Lavina "Lovie" L. Engstrom, 97, formerly of Maple Grove were Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.
Interment was at Crystal Lake Cemetery.
Mrs. Engstrom passed away Friday, June 10, 2005, at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. She was born in Roosevelt, to Richard and Anna Olson on April 1, 1908.
She was a long time retiree of Qwest where she worked in the service department and then yellow pages advertising. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a life member of Eastern Star of Robbinsdale.
She is survived by her son, Daniel (Pam) Engstrom of Cold Spring; her three grandchildren, Danelle (Kelly) Jans of St. Michael, Matt (Christina) Engstrom of Hanover, and Lisa (Travis) Ingebrigtson of St. Michael; great-grandchildren, Lynsey and Hunter Jans, Ashley, Zachary and Tyler Ingebrigtson, and Wesley Engstrom; sister, Peggy Anderson of Erie, Penn.; and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Engstrom is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth; daughter, Dianne; sisters, Irene, Florence and Gladys; and brothers, Arthur, Raymond and Richard.
Memorials are preferred to Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Maple Grove for the Sunday School and Youth Programs.
John A. Gow
Gow, John A. age 70 of Delano died June 11, 2005 from acute leukemia. John was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lydgia Gow, and brother, Harry Jr. He was born November 11, 1934 in Minneapolis and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in agriculture.
As a youth he spent many summers in Crookston working on his cousin's farm. John retired from Warner Hardware and True Value having been associated with these companies for 45+ years. He was actively involved with the Delano Friends of the Library especially the remodeling of the Delano Library in its new location. John enjoyed making birdhouses, restoring wagons and other woodcraft items. He always looked forward to the annual Horsch family fishing trip to Bovey. Camping and traveling were favorite things to do and being proud of his Scottish heritage he traveled to Scotland and Ireland in 2004. Reading was another favorite pastime.
Survived by loving wife, Kathy, sons, Stephen, Carl, Todd (Karen), grandsons, Josh, Kyle, sister, Barbara Raddatz, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Bill & Geri Horsch, Phil & Betty Horsch, Betty Nicholas.
Memorial service was Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Item Funeral Home of Delano. Visitation was Tuesday, June 14, 2005 from 508 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home of Delano.
Private family interment at Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Monica Valenzuela
Services for Monica S. Valenzuela (Johnson), 27, of Montrose were Saturday, June 11, 2005, at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly.
Rev. Timothy Cloutier officiated the service.
Mrs. Valenzuela died Saturday, June 5, 2005 at her residence. She was born June 25, 1977, in Devils Lake, N.D., the daughter of Bradley and JoAnn LeNoir Johnson.
On March 6, 1999, Monica S. Johnson and Richard D. Valenzuela were joined in holy marriage in Fridley. They had two sons.
Mrs. Valenzuela was employed as a medical assistant at the MINGI Clinic in Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Valenzuela Jr.; grandfathers, John LeNoir and Ernest Johnson; uncle, Jay Monette and by aunts, Marie Dorheim and Lynette LeNoir.
Mrs. Valenzuela is survived by her loving husband, Richard; sons, Angelo and Lorenzo; her parents, Bradley and JoAnn Johnson of Minneapolis; brothers and sisters, William (Marita) Scheer, Shelly (James) McCormick, Jenell (Tom) Brule and John (Lana) Johnson; grandmothers, Amelia LeNoir and Hazel Nelson; father-in-law, Sal Valenzuela; mother-in-law, Mary Mendoza; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lupie (Felix) Banuelos, Sal (Terresa) Valenzuela Jr., Diana and Rosie Valenzuela, Rudy Valenzuela, Sal Valenzuela III, Johnny Valenzuela and Israel Valenzuela; grandmother-in-law, Carmen Valenzuela, 23 nieces and nephews, many uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
Douglas G. Buxton
