Gloria Kortmeyer
Funeral services for Gloria C. Kortmeyer, 75, Andover, took place Sept. 3, 2002 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel. Rev. Tim Johnson officiated.
Kortmeyer died Aug. 28, 2002 in Brooklyn Center. She a born April 7, 1927 in Aberdeen, S.D., to Melvin Crabtree and Lillian Ondell, and was a professor in education.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Dan Dehnicke; and grandsons, Adam and Drew (Katie).
Pallbearers were Daniel, Drew, Adam and Katie Dehnicke, Rev. Tim Johnson and Dr. Mark Madson.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel.
Wayne McHugh
Funeral services for Wayne David McHugh, 16, Anoka, took place Sept. 10, 2002 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Ramsey. Rev. Blair K. Anderson officiated.
McHugh died Sept. 7, 2002 of cancer at his home. He was born June 10, 1986 in Minneapolis to David B. McHugh and Louis E. Menth, and was a student at Anoka High School.
He is survived by his parents, David and Lois McHugh; sister, Katie; and grandmothers, Betty McHugh and Florence Menth.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Howard McHugh and Raymond Menth.
Interment was at St. Timothy's Catholic cemetery, Maple Lake. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Wilfrid Robert
Funeral services for Wilfrid Robert, 32, Andover, took place Sept. 7, 2002 at Gearhart Coon Rap-ids Chapel.
Robert died in Minneapolis. He was born in Haiti to Claude and Aline Robert and was a forklift operator.
He is survived by his wife, NadeGe Robert; children, Phaedra, Casandra, Leonard; parents, Claude and Aline Robert; brothers and sisters, Rienne R. Robert, Marie Robert, Marie Claude, Claude, Yanick, Ronald, Immacula; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment was at Calvary cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Coon Rapids Chapel.
Ardyth Shanks
Funeral services for Ardyth G. Shanks, 82, Anoka, will take place today (Friday, Sept. 13, 2002), 1 p.m., at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Brenda Kramer King will officiate.
Shanks died Sept. 5, 2002 in Champlin. She was born Oct. 20, 1919 in Breckenridge to Charles Matheson and Ann Mook.
She is survived by her sons, Sanford Jr. and wife Florence, Mark; daughter, Merridy Shanks; and grandchildren, Collin, Adam and Samantha Shanks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Sr.; and brothers, Roger and Richard Matheson.
Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Center. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Mark Thrane
Graveside services for Mark A. Thrane, 49, Aurora, Colo., formerly of Andover, took place Sept. 7, 2002 at West Oak Grove cemetery, Oak Grove. Rev. Mark Hellman officiated.
Thrane died Aug. 29, 2002 at Aurora South Medical Center, Aurora, Colo. He was born July 8, 1953 in Karlstad to Charles and Phyllis (Ellingson) Thrane, and was a construction superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; sons, Troy (Angela), Jeremy (Tina), Matthew (Kimberly), Chad; grandchildren, Dominick, Alexandria and Kayla; parents, Charles and Phyllis; sisters, Charlene Daluge, Cheryl Robertson, Karna Bjerke, and Cynthia Fossan; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Interment was at West Oak Grove cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Bette Canny
Private family services for Bette Canny, 79, Anoka, will take place at a later date.
Canny died Sept. 10, 2002. She was born Feb. 23 in Decorah, Iowa, and was a retired teacher.
She is survived by her daughters, Carlynn Canny (Steve), Barbara Canny (Mike), Suzanne Canny-Higueros (Accel) and Patricia Bass (Mark); and grandchildren, Ted Treska, Marie and Carmen Higueros, Eric and Allison Bass.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; sister, Lois; and brother, Willis.
Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Roy Elmore III
Funeral services for Roy Elmore III, 16, Fridley, took place Sept. 17 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. John Ude officiated.
Elmore died Sept. 11, 2002 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born May 31, 1986 in Grand Junction, Colo., and was a student.
He is survived by his mothers, Rona Elmore and fiance Philip Flesner; sisters, Jennifer Elmore and Lacey Romero; grandparents; close friends, Todd and Dawn Flesner; best friends, Carlos Diaz, Keith Flesner, Jamison Bruce, Lucas Borchardt and Elijah Behrends; and other family members and friends.
Interment will be private at a later date. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Martha Holmberg
Funeral services for Martha B. Holmberg, 72, Andover, took place Sept. 11 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Oak Grove. Rev. Michael Kennedy officiated.
Holmberg died Sept. 6, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Aug. 28, 1930 in Superior, Wis., to Andrew Ostazeski and Violet Mateski, and was retired from Land-O-Lakes.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne 'Bubs;' son, Timothy; grandson, Tanner; sister, Patti (Jerry) Wright; brother, Andy (Jan) Ostazeski; and other relatives and friends.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Ruth Johnson
Funeral services for Ruth C. Johnson, 90, Anoka, took place Sept. 18 at Elim Baptist Church, Anoka. Rev. Gary Mueller officiated.
Johnson died Sept. 14, 2002 at Anoka Care Center. She was born in Bradford Township, Isanti County to Samuel and Carrie (Olson) Thompson.
She is survived by her sisters, Caroline Wallin, Jessie (Frank) Olson; brother, Francis (Bernetta) Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; parents, Samuel and Carrie Thompson; and brothers, Roy, Richard, Joe, Hartley and George Thompson.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Maryl Norris
Funeral services for Maryl Lee Norris, 62, Crosslake and Casa Grande, Ariz., formerly of Anoka, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 21), 2 p.m., at the Brenny Funeral Chapel, Crosslake. Rev. Dennis Hoffman will officiate.
Norris died Sept. 5, 2002 in Casa Grande. She was born Dec. 2, 1939 in Sedro Wooley, Wash., to William and Elizabeth Dale (Lawrence) Taylor. She worked for several grocery chains and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Taylor of Hopkins; stepdaughter, Holly Buchholz of Eau Claire, Wis.; son, Jerry Norris of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepsons, Donald Norris of Hastings and Robin Norris of Boone, Iowa; sisters, Laura Corral of Odessa, Texas, Michele Kohler of Crosslake, and Virginia Wiegand of Utah; brother, Clyde Carl of Oregon; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Durham, Patrick Taylor and Lawrence Carl.
Interment was at Pinewood cemetery.
Alvetta Olson
Funeral services for Alvetta L. Olson, 97, Anoka, took place Sept. 18 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Dennis Heiden officiated.
Olson died Sept. 14, 2002 at her home. She was born Feb. 16, 1905 in Osceola County, Iowa, to Ogen and Edna M. (Oliver) Young. She was a volunteer for Anoka County.
She is survived by her children, Odean Olson of Anoka, Lynn Olson of Minnetonka, LeRoy (Patricia) Olson of Princeton, Edna (Doug) Englund of Florida, Beulah (Patricia) Gallagher of Cedar, Ronald (Carla) Olson of Coon Rapids; 28 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; some great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Pearl Welch of Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Porter; and children, Dale, Tommy, Alice and Phil.
Active pallbearers were Steven and Kelly Olson, Gordon Gallagher, Troy Englund, Shane Yager and Greg Rois. Honorary pallbearers were Lonnie, David and Mike Olson, and Al Edwards.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
