Janie Scharber
Funeral services for Janie I. Scharber, 52, Ramsey, took place Sept. 21, 2002 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Gary Rehborg officiated.
Scharber died Sept. 19, 2002 at her home. She was born Oct. 23, 1949 in Duluth to Lawrence Anderson and Colleen Scharnott, and was a railroad clerk.
She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Scharber; son, Chris (Jenny); daughter, Jessica; grandson, Carter Ray; mother, Colleen Larson; father, Lawrence Anderson; sisters, Cindy (Jeff) Skerbine, Gail and Carolyn Larson; brother, Steve Anderson; and nieces and nephews.
Scharber was cremated. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
James Thatcher
Funeral services for James E. Thatcher, 21, Ramsey, took place Sept. 25, 2002 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. James Donald officiated.
Thatcher died Sept. 21, 2002 at Hennepin County Medical Center from injuries received in a car accident. He was born Sept. 7, 1981 in Buffalo to Robin Thatcher and Debra Valerius, and was a forklift operator.
He is survived by his parents, Robin and Deb; brother, Danyon; great-grandmother, Mildred Thatcher; grandmothers, Donna Mae Valerius and Marlene Thatcher; and many aunts, uncles cousins and friends.
Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
George Wilson II
Funeral services for George Kenneth Wilson II, 75, Browerville, took place Sept. 19, 2002 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Joel Cycinas officiated.
Wilson died Sept. 16. He was born Nov. 3, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wis., to George Wilson Sr., and Alma M. Dupuis. He was a retired post office supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L.; children, George K. III, Donald E. (Bonnie), Susan L. (Terry) Meier, Lynette M. Higgins, Stephen W., Laurie A. Hughes, Loren J. (Darla), Buff P. (Denise), Gerald L. (Julie), Dawn A. (Thomas) Hughes, Jon J. (Stacey); 34 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Interment was at Epiphany cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Robin Zimmerman
Memorial services for Robin E. Zimmerman, 86, St. Paul, formerly of Anoka, took place Sept. 20, 2002 at Edgcumbe Presbyterian Church, St. Paul.
Zimmerman died Sept. 13, 2002. He served in the Marines in World War II and was retired from Great River Energy, Elk River.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; stepdaughter, Meredith (Tom) Holt; grandchildren, Kyra (Nathan) Schmitt, Jared and Travis Holt; sister-in-law, Penny Keene; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Henry Zimmerman; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Arrangements were by Joseph S. Klecatsky and Sons West Funeral Home, West St. Paul.
Pat Frazier-Roers
Memorial services for Pat Frazier-Roers, 59, Coon Rapids, took place July 27, 2002 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.
Frazier-Roers died July 23, 2002 at Unity Hospital.
She was born Sept. 23, 1942 in Anoka. She was a member of Woman of Moose Chapter #563.
She is survived by her husband, Duane G. Roers; daughter, Jo-Ann M. Frazier-Drager; mother-in-law, Mary L. Roers; sister, Kathleen (Jim) Getting; brothers, Eugene (Pat) Reid and Wayne (Mardette) Reid; stepchildren, Rita and Peter; six grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; seven brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and many other relatives and friends.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Louise Johnson
Funeral services for Louise M. Johnson, 50, Anoka, took place July 26, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Johnson died July 23, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 1951 in Alexandria to Clifford M. Olson and Mae E. Forsberg. She was a self-employed tax accountant.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; son, Jeremy and wife Tracey of Coon Rapids; daughter, Heather Harrington and husband Mike of Ogden, Utah; grandsons, Riley and Aiden Harrington; mother, Mae Olson of Cyrus; sister, Linda Kading and husband John; brothers, Gene Olson and wife Maureen, Rollie Olson and wife Gayle; and many nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Olson.
Interment was at Trinity cemetery, Cyrus. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Sharon McCollow
Funeral services for Sharon McCollow, 61, Coon Rapids, took place July 29, 2002 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids Rev. Jacob Yali officiated.
McCollow died July 25, 2002 in Fridley. She was born Feb. 5, 1941 in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her husband, John 'Jack;' daughters, Jackie Brandeen (Ed), Beth Herman (Chris), Becky McCollow (Don Abbound); four grandchildren; sister, Patricia Floer (Chuck), 'Kush' Purdes (Bob); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Stella Flannery.
Pallbearers were Chuck and Mike Floer, Bob and Don Purdes, Joe Anderson and Scott Seifert.
Interment was at Epiphany cemetery, Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Edward Munson
Funeral services for Edward J. Munson, 64, Andover, took place July 31, 2002 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Anoka.
Munson died July 27, 2002 at his home. He was born Feb. 24, 1938 in Minneapolis to Christian H. Munson and Magnhild Ellingson. He was a 33-year employee of Spring Lake Park School District 16 and served with the 1st Battle Group, 3rd Infantry in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Michael (Kari), David (Amy); daughters, Kathy (Jamie), Karen (Greg); 11 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Paul.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
Valeria Peterson
Funeral services for Valeria Leone Peterson, 94, Ham Lake, took place July 14, 2002 at Constance Evangelical Free Church. Rev. Randy Discher officiated.
Peterson died July 11, 2002. She was born Jan. 13, 1908 in New Brighton to Felix and Mary Slatoski.
She is survived by her daughters, Bev and husband David Medvecky of Isanti, Renee and husband Randy Amenrud of Ham Lake; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Peterson of Ham Lake; sister, Emily Kotla of New Brighton; grandchildren, Cindy, Craig, Todd, Trudy and Troy; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jennifer, Aarilee, Aaron and Veronica; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; son, Willis; two brothers; and four sisters.
Pallbearers were grandchildren and spouses, Cindy and John Lorenzen, Craig and Kim Bonde, Todd and Toni Amenrud, Trudy and Mike Berggren, Troy Amenrud. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob and Jennifer Bonde, Aarliee and Aaron Lorenzen, Veronica Valeria Amenrud.
Interment was at the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.
Arthur Pierson
Funeral services for Arthur J. Pierson, 75, Coon Rapids, took place July 29, 2002 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.
Pierson died July 25, 2002 in Coon Rapids. He was born April, 10, 1927 in Rogers and was a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Kraus-Hartig VFW Post and Coon Rapids Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Timothy (Kim), Jeffrey, Leslie (Denise), Scott (Terri), Darrell, Cheryl (Michael) Butler; seven grandchildren; brothers, Virgil (Agnes), Duane (Joan), Kenneth (Karen), Floyd (Jan), Ronald (Jearie); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur, mother, Anna; stepfather, Sam Gast; and brother, Edwin Gast.
Interment was at Epiphany cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Bernard Steffen
Funeral services for Bernard E. 'Bernie' Steffen, 70, Ramsey, took place July 31, 2002 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Rev. Blair K. Anderson and Hilton Hammer officiated.
Steffen died July 26, 2002 at his home. He was born Dec. 28, 1931 in Plainview to Kenneth S. and Alta L. (Steinke) Steffen. He was an attorney and a partner in the law firm of Barna, Guzy and Steffen, and a former Anoka County administrator, the first appointed in the state.
He is survived by his wife, Natalie Haas Steffen; children, Michael Steffen (Mary Rouen) of Eugene, Ore., Joan Taubert, John Steffen, Mary (David) Dahlheimer, Mark (Sherri) Steffen of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and Thomas Steffen; stepson, Chief Michael (Sheila) Haas of Groton, Conn.; stepdaughter, Donnell Drews; 22 grandchildren; sister, Mary (Dr. Sterling) Tignor of Kokomo, Ind.; brother, Jerome (Mierta) Steffen of Rio Preida, Brazil; sister, Rena (David) Michael of Denver, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and business associates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Alta Steffen; and stepson, Scott Haas.
Pallbearers were all his law partners.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
