Stanley Welsh

Funeral services for Stanley E. Welsh, 88, Ramsey, took place Aug. 1, 2002 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Rev. Dennis Heiden officiated.

Welsh died July 28, 2002 at Guardian Angels Care Center, Elk River. He was born Sept. 18, 1913 in Hyannis, Neb., to Isaac E. and Anne B. (VanGundy) Welsh. He was a retired mechanic.

He is survived by his sons, Harold Welsh of Stacy, Steven (Kathy) Welsh of Ramsey, Marvin (Kathy) Welsh of North Branch, Larry (Lyn) Welsh of East Bethel, Lyle Welsh of Ramsey; daughter, Arlene Welsh of Ramsey; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; sister, Oleta Smith; and brother, Raymond Welsh.

Interment was at Moose Lake cemetery, Pequot Lakes. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Emmet West

Memorial services for Emmet R. West, 87, Braham, took place July 31, 2002 at Historic Fort Snelling Chapel.

West died July 25, 2002. He was retired from Grain Belt Brewery.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; children, John (Debbie), Bernard 'Shordy,' Laurie (Charlie), Rory and Chuck; grandchildren, Shane, Shawn, Adam, Jaymie, Mary, Sarah, Amie and April; great-grandchildren, Garrot and Little John; brothers, Hugh and Everett; and sisters, Vera and Carrie.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy; grandson, Shawn; brothers, John, Leslie, Ralph and Melvin; and sisters, Opal, Marvel, Hazel and Romona.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Cremation Society of Minnesota.

Virginia Ahles

Funeral services for Virginian (Ginny) M. Ahles, 69, Blaine, took place Aug. 5, 2002 at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, Brooklyn Park. Rev. Anthony M. Criscitelli officiated.

Ahles died July 30, 2002. She was born Jan. 11, 1933 in Wausau, Wis., to Walter George Vetter and Anna Kania. She was a past office manager for St. Gerard's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband Larry; children, Mark (Eileen), Michael (Karen), Robert (Julie), Lynn (Michael McMurphy); eight grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tom.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine Chapel.

Gary Amundson

Funeral services for Gary L. Amundson, 55, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 2, 2002 at Advent Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Robert Lindstrand officiated.

Amundson died July 30, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wis., to Clifford Amundson and Kathleen Holmstrom. He was a tool and die machinist.

He is survived by his wife, Annemarie; daughter, Jeanette (Everette); sons, Kenneth (Tina) and Daniel (Angie); grandchildren, Amanda, Taylor, Jaimee, Nikolas, Bailey and Brennan; brothers, Clayton and Les Amundson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Chapel.

Beverly Arvidson

Funeral services for Beverly Ann Arvidson, 66, Holyoke, formerly of Anoka, took place Aug. 6, 2002 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Mike Keller officiated.

Arvidson died Aug. 1, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital, Duluth. She was born July 30, 1936 in Anoka to Peter D. and Regina E. (Ramacher) Blaska.

She is survived by her children, Greg (Linda) Arvidson of Minnetonka, Sharon (Rich) Doolittle of Brooklyn Park, Thomas (Kathryn) Arvidson of Wadena, Nancy (Ron) Cooper of Ramsey; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Donald (Janice) Blaska of Brooklyn Park; sister, Mary (Dale) Hesli of Anoka; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Delmer Rogers of Holyoke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Regina Blaska.

Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Paul Berg

Funeral services for Paul Henry Berg, 62, Anoka, took place Aug. 7, 2002 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Adrian Piotrowski officiated.

Berg died Aug. 3, 2002 at his home. He was born Jan. 9, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa, to Robert Berg and Mary Kenneally, and was employed in candy and tobacco sales.

He is survived by his wife, Ania; sons, Steve and Bry (Krisi); grandchildren, Jared, Travis, Blake, Kala; brothers, Gary (Ruby), Ralph (Bonnie); nieces and nephews; and parents-in-law, Marcus and Dolores Laufenberg.

Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home.

Norma Bonde

Funeral services for Norma J. Bonde, 61, East Bethel, took place Aug. 6, 2002 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Hilton Hammer officiated.

Bonde died Aug. 3, 2002 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. She was born Oct. 8, 1940 in Anoka to William W. and Mabel (Blesi) Makowsky, and worked for Federal Cartridge.

She is survived by her husband, Al; children, Cindy (John) Lorenzen of Isanti, Thomas (Sharon) Bogren of North Dakota, Craig (Kim) Bonde of Isanti, Lori Bogren of Coon Rapids, grandchildren, Aarilee and Aaron, Tyler and Jamison, Jacob and Jennifer; mother, Mabel Makowsky of Ramsey; brother, William (Carrie) Makowsky of Anoka; sisters, Shirley Packer of Andover, Delores (Richard) Brown of Ramsey; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, William W. Makowsky.

Interment was at East Bethel cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Lyle Doerr

Funeral services for Lyle K. Doerr, 52, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 5, 2002 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel. Rev. Lynn Seep officiated.

Doerr died Aug. 1, 2002 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. He was born May 21, 1950 in St. Paul to Louis Doerr and Audrey Peterson. He was employed in quality control for a pasta company, and was active in the DFL party.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Bridgette (Joseph) Boche; Maria (Ben) O'Hara; Adam Doerr; grandchildren, Kelsey, Ireland, Megan and baby; parents, Louis and Audrey; and brother, Alan (Gloria).

He was preceded in death by baby, Katie.

Interment was at Lakewood cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.

Gordon Hanson

Funeral services for Gordon H. Hanson, 61, Ramsey, took place Aug. 2, 2002 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Adrian Piotrowski officiated.

Hanson died July 30, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Feb. 28, 1941 in Minot, N.D., to Herbert and Adeline (Moger) Hanson and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and an inspector for Onan Corporation.

He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; sons, Rod of Alexandria, Mike (Tammi) of Williams, Rich of Big Lake, Tim (Sara) of Big Lake; daughter, Rae Ann (Brian) Gardner of Big Lake; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Hanson; and stepfather and mother, Harry and Adeline Hulsebus.

Pallbearers were Conrad Koble, Butch Herda, and Rod, Mike, Rich and Tim Hanson.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Mark Haveri

Funeral services for Mark Wayne Haveri, 42, Blaine, took place Aug. 2, 2002 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Timothy Strommen officiated.

Haveri died July 26, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Park Rapids. He was born March 20, 1960 in Two Harbors to Gerald W. and Sandra J. (Patak) Haveri and was a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by his son, Jesse; mother, Sandy Secora; stepfather, Jerry Secora; sisters, Deb (Steve) Vadnais, Pam Valland (Tom Trivina), Patti Hambright; brother, Michael; grandmother, Viola Haveri; step-grandmother, Romaine Patak; friend, Chuck Johnson; 10 nieces and nephews; great-niece and great-nephew; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Haveri.

Interment was at Lake View cemetery, Two Harbors. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Lester Jaekel

Funeral services for Lester G. Jaekel, 89, Andover, formerly of Milwaukee, Wis., took place Aug. 8, 2002 at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, Andover. Rev. Dennis Perryman officiated.

Jaekel died Aug. 4, 2002 at his home. He was born Dec. 10, 1912 in Milwaukee, Wis., and was a retired machinist.

He is survived by his wife, Elsbeth; daughter, Kristin (John) Wielgosz; grandsons, Mark and Erik; and great-granddaughter, Alexandra.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lynn; and son, Roger.

Interment was at Arlington cemetery, Milwaukee. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
