Alyce Johnson

Memorial services for Alyce Vicki Johnson, 59, Wyoming, took place Aug. 19 at the Linwood Covenant Church. Rev. Sheldon Matheson officiated.

Johnson died at her home Aug. 15, 2002. She was born May 25, 1943 in Brooklyn New York to K. Gunnar and E. Victoria Matheus. She was raised and attended school in New Jersey where she graduated from Fair Lawn High School. She attended Bethel College in St. Paul and earned a degree in Elementary Education.

She married Charles J. Johnson in New Jersey in 1965 and the two made their home most of the time in Linwood Township. She was an active member of the Linwood Covenant Church and served as the church.

Johnson is survived by her husband Chuck; son Brett (Jessi); daughter Kris (Eric) Bates; 4 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Internment was in Linwood cemetery. Arrangement were made by the Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.

Woodrow Olson

Memorial services for Woodrow E. 'Woody' Olson, 85, Anoka, took place Aug. 22 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Father Bill Deziel, O.S.C., officiated.

Olson tied Aug. 19, 2002 at the Anoka Good Samaritan Center. He was born Feb. 20, 1917 to Oswald and Ella (Hansen) Olsen and married Mary E. Stanton. A member of St. Stephen's Church in Anoka, Olson played football at the University of Minnesota for Hall of Fame coach Bernie Bierman and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing.

Olson is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary; sons Doug (Sharon), Gary (Roxanne); grandchildren Mary (Videle), Todd, David, Amy, Debbie (Bina) and Jeff; great-grandchildren Tyler and Austin Bina and Elise and Finn Olson.

He was preceded in death by his son Dennis.

Internment was at Calvary cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Shane Slagle

Memorial services for Shane Slagle, 29, Oak Grove, took place Aug. 20 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Father Michael Kennedy officiated.

Slagle died Aug. 16, 2002 in an auto accident in Cass County, Minnesota. He was born to Larry and Carolyn (Baran) Slagle May 27, 1973. He was self-employed as a contractor.

He is survived by his parents Larry and Carolyn; sisters Heidi and Hope Slagle; grandmother Madge Slagle and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Slagle was preceded in death by his grandparents Anton and Frances Baran, Roy Slagle; uncle Dick Slagel and cousin Casey Slagle.

Pallbearers were Brent Smith, Dave Drevdahl, Jason Hunter, Brian Dudziak, Tom Stoeckel, Chris Peterson, Joe Schwan, Jason Larson, Steve Olson, John Stewart, Rod Matheson and Corey Stauffeneker. Internment was at St. Patrick's cemetery, Oak Grove. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home of Anoka.

Elizabeth Thiede

Memorial services for Elizabeth 'Bonnie' Thiede, 52, Andover, took place Aug. 16 at the Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel of Coon Rapids. Pastor Liane Rock officiated.

Born March 18, 1950 in Anoka, Thiede died Aug. 13, 2002.

She is survived by her husband Rob; sons Jason and Ryan; a brother Jon Blattman (Roni Tucker); nieces Mandy and Rachel and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by John and Betty Blattman.

Internment was at Forest Hills cemetery, Anoka.

John Turok

Memorial services for John M. Turok, 77, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 15 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Turok died Aug. 12, 2002 in Fridley. He was born June 16, 1925 in Minneapolis and was a retired data processing manager at United Power Association. He was active in Friendship Force.

He is survived by his sons, Michael (Chris), William (Mechell), Peter (Brenda); grandchildren, Reagan and husband Jack West, Jenni, Ryan, Garth, Karen and Meghan; great-grandchildren, Kenna and Blake; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jeanne.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Rodney Caouette Sr.

Funeral services for Rodney J. Caouette Sr., 69, Ramsey, took place Aug. 29 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Joel Cycenas officiated.

Caouette died Aug. 24, 2002 at his home. He was born Nov. 1, 1932 in Minneapolis to Elmer O. Caouette and Lorraine A. Courrone. He was a retired FMC inspector, a Korean war veteran, a life member of the Kraus-Hartig VFW Post 6587, life charter member/ treasurer of the 1st Marine Division Association Minnesota Chapter and a longtime American Legion member.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Randy, Steven (Billie), Danny (Mary), Vicki (Jim) Benson, Lorri (Dwayne) Mattson, Rodney Joseph Jr., 'Joe' (Natalie), Brian (Jennifer); stepdaughters, Indra Singh and Cheryl Meyers; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; stepmother, Ionilla (Art) Ley; brother, Dennis (Jenny); and sisters, Cheryl (Andy) Anderson and Cathy (Danny) Norton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Elmer Caouette; and brothers, Douglas and Greg.

Pallbearers were Reed Caouette, Craig Hiltner, Vic Hagenah, Dean Greenside, and Larry and Lowell Wyrum.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Richard Cropper

Funeral services for Richard 'Dick' W. Cropper, 83, Blaine, took place Aug. 27 at Christ Lutheran Church, Blaine. Rev. Margaret Guelker officiated.

Cropper died Aug. 21, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1919 in Minneapolis to William Cropper and Julia M. Williams. He was a retired tool and dye employee, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, member of John Rice VFW Post 6587, longtime member and leader of Boy Scouts and a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Robert) Stowe, Julie McMahon, William (Cindy); grandchildren, Christine, James, Sarah, Joseph, Jane, Jennifer; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; and brother, Lloyd (Barbara).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel.

Pallbearers were Randy, Getchell, Bob Stowe, Bob Southwick, Martin Canfield, David Ostendorf and Christine Stowe Ostendorf.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine Chapel.

Thomas Dallman

Funeral services for Thomas Lee 'Tom' Dallman, 56, Oak Grove, took place Aug. 28 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Norman berg officiated.

Dallman died Aug. 25, 2002 at his residence. He was born Feb. 20, 1946 in Minneapolis to Laurence V. and Beatrice D. (Blover) Dallman. He was a truck driver for Laser Asphalt in St. Francis.f

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Tim and wife Karen; daughter, Shannon Dallman and fiance Mike Leibel; granddaughter, Cherice Dallman; stepgrandchildren, Nick and Kayla Witte; brother, Rod and wife Corky; sisters-in-law, Renee Erickson, Joyce Haines and husband, Jim, Peggy Wester, Faye Legare and husband Bill; mother-in-law, Bessie Wester; brother-in-law, Dick Wester and wife Linda, Don Wester and wife Sue; 13 nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Beatrice Dallman.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

John Emerson

Funeral services for John E. Emerson, 69, Fridley, took place Aug. 22 at Peace Lutheran Church. Rev. Heather Teune officiated.

Emerson died Aug. 20, 2002 in Brooklyn Center. He was born June 29, 1933 in St. Paul to Ralf and Martha Emerson, and was the owner of Emerson Automotive.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; sons, David (Margo), Greg (Cheryl), and Keith (Lisa); daughters, Susan (Gary) McBride, Lida (Randy) Hansen, and Deanna Christen; 15 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralf and Martha Emerson.

Interment was at Hillside cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel.

Ardith Gonzales

Graveside services for Ardith L. Gonzales, 77, Anoka, took place Aug. 24 at Mt. Nebo cemetery, Hewitt. A memorial service took place Aug. 23 at Way of The Cross Church, Blaine.

Gonzales died at her home Aug. 20, 2002. She was born Oct. 16, 1924 in Stowe Prairie Township. She as a retired RN who served in the Cadet Nurses Corp during World War II. She also worked for many years at Minneapolis General Hospital (now HCMC) and Federal Cartridge in Anoka.

She is survived by her children, Maria Michlin and Richard Gonzales; granddaughters, Teresa (Jeff) Hayden, Michelle Michlin and Dolores (Scott) Livingston; great-grandchildren, Tomas and Sophia Hayden; and many friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nina and Ben Frederick.

Roland Guenther

Funeral services for Roland H. Guenther, 75, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 26 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Guenther died Aug. 21, 2002 at his home. He was born May 14, 1927 in Minneapolis. He was a drafting engineer at Unisys and a life member of the Coon Rapids VFW Post 9625.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, sons, Steve, Terry (Diana), daughter, Kristi Ohnstad (Gary); stepsons, Kim Jackson (Julie), Kevin Provost (Chris), Kelvin Provost; stepdaughter-in-law, Dottie Jackson; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; brothers, Nyle and Jim (Sally); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
