Justin Klous
Justin R. Klous, 22, Coon Rapids, died in Robbinsdale on Saturday, May 25, 2002. He was born April 22, 1980 in Minneapolis to Mark Klous and Mary Wrich. He was a heavy equipment operator and member of the Blaine High School class of 1998.
He is survived by his fiancee, Jackie Crawford; father, Mark (Vickie) Klous; mother, Mary (Bill) Wrich); sisters, Rachel and Rebecca; brother, Mitchell; grandmother, Delaine (Quent) Klous Bosiger; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel.
Amanda Knudson
Funeral services for Amanda Lea Knudson, 21, Blaine/Circle Pines, took place May 31 at Galilee Baptist Church, Circle Pines. Rev. Dan Mundson officiated.
Knudson died May 28, 2002 at the University of Minnesota Hospital after a four-year battle with cancer.
She was born July 30, 1980 in Robbinsdale to Kristin and Gary Frey.
She is survived by her parents, Kristin and Gary Frey; brothers, Travis and Tommy; grandmothers, Ruth Knudson and Louis Frey; uncles, Gary and Kevin Knudson; and many other relatives and friends.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine Chapel.
Betty Lindquist
Funeral services for Betty Lou Lindquist, 81, Anoka, took place June 6 at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated
Lindquist died June 1, 2002 at her home. She was born March 23, 1921 in Carlton to Joseph M. Ekmark and Luealla A. MacDonnell. He was retired from Cornelius, a past president of the VFW Auxiliary, former owner of the Costume Shop and Catering Service at Crooked Lake, and a volunteer at the Maple Manor Nursing Home.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Flores (Tony); son, Jerry Ekmark; grandchildren, Lisa Flores, Whitney Renteria and Curt Ekmark; step-grandchildren, Russell and Eric Lindquist; great-grandchildren, Courtney and Andrew Ekmark, Marissa and Illana Renteria; brothers, Don and Bill Ekmark; and sister, Marjorie Buechler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lindquist; stepson, James Lindquist; grandson, Wade Flores; and brother, Dean Ekmark.
Interment was in Forest Hill cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Pat Loing
Funeral services for Pat R. Loing, 62, Andover, took place May 31 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel. Rev. Ken DeFor officiated.
Loing died May 28, 2002 at North Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 22, 1940 in Grand Forks, N.D., and was employed in sales.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha; children, Stacey (Wendell) Kettner, Melissa (Bryce) Loing; grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth, Dillon, Brandon; brothers, Richard, Ole, Willard; sister, Corinne; and brother-in-law, Bill Keller.
Honorary pallbearers were Wendell Kettner, Bryce Eberfeld, Bill Keller, Dick Isaacson, Phil Boever, Duane Pins and Larry Myrmel.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
Kent Naylor
Funeral services for Kent A. Naylor, 47, Coon Rapids, took place June 1 at Coon Rapids United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Miller officiated.
Naylor died May 26, 2002 in a boating accident in Wisconsin. He was born June 11, 1955 in Juneau, Alaska. He was a carpenter, a 1973 Coon Rapids High School graduate and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his parents, Evelyn (Gary) Nelson and Arlen (Marge) Naylor; sisters, Lynn Steffen, Heather (Robert) Isenor, Jody (Jim) Marshall, Jennie (Chris) Rooney, Nancy (John) Norling, Mary (Donny) Peterson; brothers, Todd (Mary) Nelson and Jim (Melissa) Nelson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodger Naylor.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Vera Nymoen
Vera (Wedgwood) Nymoen, 90, Anoka, formerly of Monticello, died May 25, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Isabelle Huhn; son, John Perrin; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Joseph Perrin Sr., Joseph Perrin Jr.; and brother, Wesley Wedgwood.
Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
Josephine Smith
Funeral services for Josephine P. 'Jo' Smith, 92, Coon Rapids, formerly of North Minneapolis, took place June 3 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.
Smith died May 30, 2002. She was born Dec. 24, 1909 in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Luberda; daughter-in-law, Barbara Smith; 10 grandchildren; and 18-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; sons, Donald Jr. and David; son-in-law, Matt Luberda; granddaughter, Renee Luberda; and sisters, Stella and Jean.
Interment was at Gethsemane cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Pearl Thoreson
Funeral services for Pearl E. Thoreson, 84, Anoka, took place June 4 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Revs., Gary Mueller and Orison Johnson officiated.
Thoreson died May 30, 2002 at Anoka Care Center. She was born April 11, 1918 in Minneapolis to Carl A. and Anna J. (Frickson) Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne (Jim) McMorran, Judi (Leon) Boushek, Roxanne Crawford; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; grandson, Jeff Thoreson; and brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were James and Todd McMorran, Leon and Michael Boushek, Dustin Lewandowski, and Randy Olson.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Loretta Veilleux
Funeral services for Loretta Veilleux (Crosby), 90, Elk River, took place May 31 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.
Veilleux died May 25, 2002 at Guardian Angels Nursing Home. She was born March 6, 1912 in Minneapolis and was a retired physicians assistant.
She is survived by her sons, Fred W. (Gerry) Crosby, Don Crosby and Barb Cooney; daughter, Pat Mathison (Les); nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and other family members.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Larry Wadsen
Funeral services for Larry G. Wadsen, 69, Blaine, formerly of Fridley, took place June 5 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
Wadsen died June 1, 2002 at Alterra Care Center, Blaine. He was born Aug. 22, 1932 in Kimball, Neb., and was a retired electronic technician.
He is survived by his children, Mark, Steve (Debbie), Debbie Wadsen; six grandchildren; and brother, Ted Wadsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Genevieve Wadsen; and brother, Dave Wadsen.
Pallbearers were Rob Stace, Jason Wadsen, Tom Wickman, Fred Lindorff, Robert Weil and Steve Stixrud.
Interment was at Calvary cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
Ila Basel
Ila Jean Basel, 78, Andover, died May 22, 2002 at Foley Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 29, 1924 to Joe Jenson and Dorothy Lundeen, and was a retired assembly worker for Honeywell.
She is survived by her daughter, Patty (Mike) Mosby; sons, Rich and Gary Basel; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Sue) Jenson of Foley and Wayne Jenson of Homer, Mich.; sisters Lucille (Clarence) Helmin of Foley and Joyce (Ronald) Auge of St. Paul; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Riley; brother, Marvin Jenson; and sister, Marion (Jenson) Weldon.
She was cremated at Fairview Crematory, Mound. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Chapel.
William Dunn
Funeral services for William E. 'Bill' Dunn, 58, Coon Rapids, took place at Emmanuel Christian Center, Spring Lake Park June 15. Dunn, who was born Aug. 23, 1943 in Anoka, died June 6, 2002.
The interment was private.
Dunn is survived by his wife Sue; daughters Tiffin Dunn, Tami (Ben) Johnson; granddaughters Morgan and Mariah Johnson; mother Ruby Dun, numerous nieces and nephews; many other family members and friends, who loved him like a brother.
