Alex Antus

Funeral services for Alex J. Antus, 74, Coon Rapids, took place June 20 at Epiphany Catholic Church. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.

Antus died June 16, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1928 in Duluth and was retired from employment in wholesale candy sales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of the Gopher Candy Club, American Legion and Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Rebecca), Kathleen, Mark, David (Carrie), Stephen (Ania), Pamela; four grandchildren; brothers, Stephen (Peggy), Father Lawrence, Father Roland, David (Diane); sisters, Theresa (Ron), Rose Marie, Rita, Joyce (Vance); sister-in-law, Carol; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; parents, Stephen and Rosean Antus; and brother, Gerard.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Walter Bingman

Memorial services for Walter L. Bingman, 63, Coon Rapids, took place June 25 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bob Pullar officiated.

Bingman died June 21, 2002. He was born Feb. 23, 1939 in Brainerd.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Jennifer Shelley (Jim) of Los Angeles, Calif., Christopher Bingman of Big Lake; four grandchildren; one brother; one sister; and nieces and nephews.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Helen Clough

Funeral services for Helen L. Clough, 97, Anoka, took place June 27 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Clough died June 23, 2002 at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids. She was born May 24, 1905 in Rush City to Edwin and Emma L. (Schwartz) Hummel.

She is survived by her son, Jerome (Mary) Kelley of Missouri; daughter, Mygreta (Bill) Sundeen of Anoka; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Mabel Clough of Fridley and Myrtle Prescott of Coon Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and son, Gene.

Interment was at Zion cemetery, Crown. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Hazel Collett

Funeral services for Hazel Elaine Collett, 68, Coon Rapids, took place June 21 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel-Coon Rapids. Rev. Dan Yoder officiated.

Collett died in Coon Rapids on Tuesday, June 18, 2002. She was born Nov. 21, 1933 in Medford, Wis., to Harrison and Verna Downing and was an electrical employee.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Tom (Garnet) Collett, Debbie (Ron) Nygaard, Sheila (Wayne) Wagner, Bobbie Orr; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Margie Capone and Mary Downing; brother, John Downing; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and one sister.

Pallbearers were Roger, Pauline, Jay, Brigitte and Scott Downing, and Jo Richmond.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel.

Jeanette Fackler

Funeral services for Jeanette M. Fackler, 88, Minneapolis, took place June 25 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Adrian Piotrowski officiated.

Fackler died June 20, 2002 at Maranatha Care Center, Brooklyn Center, She was born June 15, 1914 in Minneapolis to James and Marie (Loesch) Bernard and was retired from General Mills.

She is survived by her son, Jeff (Janice) Fackler of Alaska; grandchildren, Kimbereley Fackler, Kerry Pavek, Kevin and Korey Fackler; and niece, Pamela Vinquist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne; and son, Gregory.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Mona Greenlun

Funeral services for Mona C. Greenlun, 76, Coon Rapids, took place June 24 at Olive Branch Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Richard Lindeman officiated.

Greenlun died June 21, 2002 at Guardian Angels Care Center, Elk River. She was born Aug. 12, 1925 in Alexandria to James E. and Martha K. (Jenson) Baker.

She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Lee) Voges of Coon Rapids and Donna (Jim) Duggan of Blaine; grandchildren, Katrina and Tyler Voges and Ashley and Stacy Duggan; sister, Becky Barthel of St. Cloud; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Kiekow and Ronald Greenlun; parents; and brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers were Tyler Voges, Jim and Dan Muzik, Jack and Dave Greenlun and Ray Olson.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Norman Hammes

Funeral services for Norman William Hammes, 78, 78, Seneca, S.C., formerly of Anoka, took place June 18 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church Chapel, Clemson, S.C.

Hammes died June 13, 2002 at his home. He was born in Anoka to Henry B. and Jessie Schultz Hammes. He was a retired colonel in the U.S. Army serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. His decorations and medals included the Legion of Merit with two clusters, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Anne Lynn Kelley of Rochester Hills, Mich., Julie Aleene Hammes of Seneca, S.C.; sons, Patrick Hammes of Brownsville, Texas, Larry Hammes of Augusta, Maine; sister, Mary Maranda, of Shoreview; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Interment took place July 22 at Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Va. Arrangements were by Seneca Mortuary Funeral and Cremations.

Tom Koeneke

Funeral services for Tom Koeneke, 54, Coon Rapids, took place June 20 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bill Shackleford officiated.

Koeneke died June 16, 2002 in Coon Rapids. He was born July 12, 1947 in Minneapolis. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed for 35 years at Minnegasco.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Chuck; daughters, Andrea and Kristen; three grandchildren; brother, Steve (Carrie); sisters, Jan Timm, Marilyn Driste (Jack); and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Bernice; and twin sons, David and John.

Pallbearers were John and David Hanson, Rick and Brian Timm, Steve Koeneke and Marty Woolard.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Barbara Kumpala

Funeral services for Barbara L. Kumpala (nee Grice), 64, Coon Rapids, took place June 12 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Kumpala died June 7, 2002 at her residence. She was born Nov. 2, 1937 in Jacksonville, Fla.

She is survived by her husband, Basil 'Bill' children, Cindy (John) Lemm, Debra (Alan) Patchin, Alan Kumpala; eight grandchildren; three brothers; three sisters; many nieces and nephews; and family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry F. and Louise Grice; and sister, Sandra Evans.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Alvin Norell

Funeral services for Alvin Edward Norell, 89, Spring Lake Park, formerly of Blaine, took place June 21 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Rev. Lisa Richardson officiated.

Norell died June 15, 2002 at his residence. He was born April 2, 1913 in Cass Lake to Andrew Norell and Anna Ohman and was a retired machine operator for the Soo Line Railroad.

He is survived by his children, Ronald, Gary, Linda (Rodney) Stenman; grandsons, Andrew and David Norell; sisters, Ellen Swenson and Edythe Strandell; brother, Leonard Norell; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine Chapel.

Walter Mitchell

Memorial services for Walter A. Mitchell, 81, Coon Lake, took place June 22 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. William Kirmsse officiated.

Mitchell died June 20, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1921 in Motley. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Honeywell.

He is survived by his sister, Myrtle (Pete) Hudalla; significant other, Jeanne Quance; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
