Orville Tempel
Funeral services for Orville L. Tempel, 76, Andover, took place Sept. 27 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Joel Cycenas officiated.
Tempel died Sept. 24, 2002 in Andover. He was born Feb. 2, 1927 in Hassan to Joseph and Grace Tempel, and was a retired manager.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Michaels, Donna Peterson, Sherry (Perry) Damon; brother, Norbert (Colette) Tempel; sisters, Del (Ron) Arcovette, Sally (Earl) Karpe, and Arlene (Jim) Bouley); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Yaw Bekoe, Kelly Meyer, Sharri Puchalla, Denna Sonsteng, Susan Schultz and Paul Peterson.
Interment was at Epiphany Catholic cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Tyler Barthel
Funeral services for Tyler Nathan Barthel, . 4, Anoka, took place Oct. 4 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Tim Strommen officiated.
Barthel died Oct. 2, 2002 at Minneapolis Children's Hospital. He was born Oct. 7, 1997 in Minneapolis to Mark Barthel and Marilyn Mielke.
He is survived by his parents, Mark and Marilyn; brother, Matthew; grandparents, Lee (Norma) Mielke; and many aunts, uncles and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by is brothers, Nathan; and grandparents, Phyllis Mielke, Harvey and Beverley Barthel.
He was cremated. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Anna Gorham
Funeral services for Anna T. Gorham, 98, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 2 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Bill Deziel officiated.
Gorham died Sept. 29, 2002 in Coon Rapids. She was born Oct. 29, 1903 in Burns Township to Patrick Gorham and Ellen Maney. She was a retired teacher.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment was at Calvary cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Geraldine Erickson
Funeral services for Geraldine Dorothy Erickson, 67, Anoka, took place Oct. 4 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Bill Deziel officiated.
Erickson died Oct. 2, 2002 at Anoka Care Center. She was born Sept. 30, 1935 in Chicago, Ill., to Edward Dudek and Sophie Kopis, and was a secretary.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sandra; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Warren Mortensen, Donna and Michael Pearson, and Debbie and fiance Greg; grandchildren, Brandt, Erik, Lisa, Joe, Jacob, and Heidi; one brother; one sister; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Berton Gross
Funeral services for Berton K. Gross, 88, Anoka, took place Oct. 2 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenneth Rice officiated.
Gross died Sept. 28, 2002 at Anoka Care Center. He was born Sept. 7, 1914 in Maywood, Ill., to Alvin Gross and Jesse Cook, and was a retired 38-year employee of Federal Cartridge.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; son, Ron (Cheryl); grandchildren, Kendrick and Christine; sister, Dorothy O'Leary; brother, Lloyd; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathie; and brothers, John and Joseph.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
Marguerite Hammer
Funeral services for Marguerite H. Hammer, 89, Champlin, took place Oct. 3 at Champlin United Methodist Church. Rev. Judy Myers officiated.
Hammer died Sept. 20, 2002 at Park River Estates Care Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1913 in Dayton to Albert O. and Anna J. (Reinke) Blesi and was retired from Federal Cartridge.
She is survived by her children, Elaine (Roger) Larson of Isanti, Kenneth (Judy) Kost of Texas, Odelle Wilson of Ramsey; stepdaughter, Marge (John) Hammer-Waldron of St. Paul; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gayle (MaryJane) Blesi of Blaine, Alvin Blesi of Elk River, Stanley Blesi of Maple Grove; sisters, Mae Gabriel of Minneapolis, Grace Lazorik of Isle, Edna (Emil) Menard of Fridley; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Kost and Arthur Hammer; parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers were Ben Gerard, David and Roger Larson, Bryan Kost, Rick Wilson, and Brian VanderLee.
Interment was at Champlin cemetery, Champlin. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Angeline LaFleur
Funeral services for Angeline LaFleur, 71, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 4 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
LaFleur died Oct. 1, 2002. She was born Nov. 12, 1930 in Bird Island was a retired dental office receptionist.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Michael R., Gary T. (Kim), Rachel LaFleur (John Mackey), Robert A. (Lori Rupp LaFleur); and grandchildren, Joseph, Margaret, Kathryn, Anna and Karl.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Janet Martin
Funeral services for Janet L. Martin, 68, Anoka, took place Oct. 9 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Jim Martin officiated.
Martin died Oct. 5, 2002 in Coon Rapids. She was born June 26, 1934 in Minneapolis to William B. Lewis and Julia O. Odeen.
She is survived by her children, Michael, William (Sally), Charles, John (Heidi), Susan; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Tracy, Joseph, Paul, Leah, Denise, Wendi, James, Clayton, Cassandra, Ryan, Jamie; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Douglas Lewis; and sisters, Beth Oxberry, Helen Sibben, and Jeanne Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; daughter, Mary Beth; and brothers, Richard, Gerald, and Billy Jean Lewis.

Ticknor Smith
Funeral services for Ticknor N. Smith, 85, Anoka, took place Oct. 9 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Roger Sutch officiated.
Smith died Oct. 6, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1917 in Anoka to Arthur L. Smith and Natalie T. Niles. He was a World War II veteran and a retired field representative for the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his stepsons, Robert Olson and wife Mary Ann; Garry Olson and wife Joan; stepdaughter-in-law, Cheryl Olson; grandchildren, Carrie Hinchcliff and husband Troy, Kimberly Krantz and husband Doug, Stacy Stern and husband Eric, Matthew and Erika Olson; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Hinchcliff, Chelsea, Ashley and Lindsay Krantz, Kyla and Colton Stern.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; and a stepson, Jerry Olson.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Marietta Anderson
Funeral services for Marietta L. Anderson, 88, Anoka, took place Oct. 14 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenneth Rice officiated.
Anderson died Oct. 11, 2002 at Anoka Good Samaritan Home. She was born Sept. 11, 1914 in Anoka to Raymond M. Lapham and Helen Sherman and was a retired housekeeper at Metropolitan Medical Center.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Howard) Stauffenecker, Don (Carolyn) Hansen, Geraldine (Richard) Hamilton, and Douglas (Maureen) Hansen; 12 grandchildren;13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Della McArdle, Shirley Bauer and Norma Halverson.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Olaf N. Hansen and Ralph W. Anderson.
Pallbearers were Bradley and Brian Hansen, Jake Armstrong, and Travis and Jason Borresch.
Interment was at Hillside cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Beverly Dahlquist
Memorial services for Beverly K. Dahlquist, 64, Elk River, took place Oct. 14 at Dare's Funeral Home, Elk River.
Dahlquist died Oct. 10, 2002.
She is survived by her children, Mellanie, Jeff, Laurie, Michele and Brad; eight grandchildren; mother, Dorothy Scott; and sisters, Debbie and Denise.
