Eugene Wilber

Funeral services for Eugene 'Gene' Wilber, 87, Zimmerman, took place Oct. 14 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Zimmerman.

Wilber died Oct. 9, 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Irma; children, Jerry (Karen), Jim (Eva), Ron (Connie), Rich (Sharon), Carole (Ron), Roger (Mickey), Patty (Jerry), Sharon, Mike (Donna), Sheila (Greg), Teresa (Abe), and Liz (Craig); 34 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; a sister; and children, Leanne P. Hutton.

Interment was at St. Pius X cemetery. Arrangements were by Dare's Funeral Home, Elk River.

Pearl Allen

Funeral services for Pearl B. Allen, 92, Champlin, took place Oct. 23 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.

Allen died Oct. 17, 2002 at Mount Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis. She was born May 18, 1910 in Hoffman to Peter O. Peterson and Bertha J. Rollofson, and was a retired clerk at the Champlin Post Office. She was a member of the Champlin Library Association, Champlin Women's Club, the Champlin Knitting Club and the Women's Circle at Zion Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Chellis) Matz; sons, Clyde Jr. (Lois) and Gary (Anita); sisters, Margaret McAdam and Marion (Gaylord) Ahneman; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Sr.; sisters, Edna Goodrich and Hazel Johnson; and brothers, Oscar, Myron and Dale Peterson.

Interment was at Champlin cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Lloyd Arlt

Memorial services for Lloyd Louis Arlt, 74, Borgholm Township, near Milaca, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 19 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milaca. Rev. Vernon Dorn officiated.

Arlt died Oct. 14, 2002 at Fairview University Medical Center. He was born May 1, 1928 in Plummer to August and Mattie (Gustafson) Arlt. He worked as a master electrician for Gopher Electric from 1965 until his retirement in 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary; daughter, Linda and husband Dean Hunt of Milaca; sons, Daniel of Lexington, N.C., James and wife Luanne of St. Michael and Randy of Dorchester, Neb.; grandchildren, Angie, Gina, Elton, Tiffany, Matthew, Chad, Michael and David; great-grandchildren, Justin, Cody and Ryan; sister, Evelyn Ulrich and Alice Cormecan, both of Plummer; and brother, Arnold and wife Wilma of Plummer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Interment was at Borgholm cemetery, near Bock. Arrangements were by Peterson Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.

Kathlyn Ewald

Funeral services for Kathlyn M. Ewald, 88, Anoka, took place Oct. 23, 2002 at First Baptist Church of Anoka. Rev. Abe Cardosa officiated.

Ewald died at Crystal Lake Good Samaritan Home, Robbinsdale. She was born Aug. 2, 1914 in Minneapolis to John V. and Elna (Tiller) Fiedler. She wa a retired health aide at Champlin Elementary School.

She is survived by her husband, John C. Ewald; sons, Dwight (kay) Skinner of Anoka; stepdaughter, Trudy (Mike) Vrochta of Eden Prairie; Verna Lee of Hopkins; grandchildren, Stephen Skinner, David (Leeann) Skinner, Kari Skinner; great-grandchildren, Lane and Rachael Skinner; four step-grandsons; five step-step-grandchildren; sister, Beryl Morissette and sister-in-law, Helen Skinner, both of Anoka; nieces and nephews; and special 'guys,' David Nordin and Tor Jacobsen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melville Skinner; and parents, John and Elna Fiedler.

Pallbearers were Stephen, David and Lane Skinner, David Nordin, John Lee and Mike Vrochta.

Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

John Graske

Funeral services for John W. Graske, 66, Chisago City, took place Oct. 23 at Horizon Church. Rev. Jimmy Jones officiated.

Graske died Oct. 19, 2002 in Minneapolis. He was born Nov. 12, 1935 in Menomonie, Wis., to Charles and Lois Graske. He was a company regional director/vice president.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; son, Gary; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara (Rick) Ruprecht, Linda (Jeff) Rinerson; grandchildren, Jonathan, Jason, Jeremy, Jessica, and Brittany; sisters, Barbara Luther and Rose Reempts; brother, Charles; and several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lois Graske.

Pallbearers were his grandchildren.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Jean McDonaldFuneral services for Jean L. McDonald, 77, Golden Valley, took place Oct. 18 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenneth A. Rice officiated.

McDonald died Oct. 14, 2002 at North Ridge Care Center, New Hope. She was born May 5, 1925 in Minneapolis to Harry H. and Flossie E. (Mills) Jewett and was a retired assembler at Honeywell.

She is survived by her children, Eileen Roloff of Spokane, Wash., Lynn Peterson and husband Damon of Blaine, Jon McDonald and wife Sandra of Champlin, Jim McDonald and wife Becky of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren; and sisters, Lorraine Kennelly of St. Louis Park and Dolores Pemberthy and husband Yogi of Turtle Lake, Wis.

Pallbearers were Jesse, Darren, Eddie, Shannon and Nathan McDonald, and Nicholas Shockley.

Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

William Palmer

Funeral services for William F. Palmer, 60, Anoka, took place Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated.

Palmer died Oct. 17, 2002 at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1941 in Washington, D.C. to Joel G. Palmer and Olga T. Metcalf and was the owner/operator of Standard Metal Products.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Frank, Timothy and Jeffrey (Kendra) Palmer, Glen, Richard and Bradley (Amanda) Pitschka; granddaughter, Heather; brother, Joel (Vali) Palmer; and sister, Penny Long.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward.

Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Kenneth Ruud

Funeral services for Kenneth Ruud, 66, Appleton, took place Oct. 21 at First Congregational Church, Appleton. Rev. Herbert Rotunda officiated.

Ruud died Oct. 19, 2002 at Appleton Municipal Hospital. He was born Feb. 1, 1936 in Alamo, N.D., to Knute and Esther (Bleken) Ruud. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a systems analyst and computer programmer for Control Data and Siemans for 35 years before retiring in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Williamson-Ruud; children, Emily (Daniel) Stephans of White Bear Lake, Kris Ruud of Mounds View; granddaughter, Gabrielle Stephans; stepsons, Mark (Kris) Williamson of Bristol, S.D., Michael (Maribeth) Williamson of Spicer, and James (Cari) Williamson of River Falls, Wis.; step-grandchildren, Kevin, Greg, Blake, Jared, Chelsea, Matthew and Mitchell Williamson; brothers, Arnold (Carmen) Ruud of Niantic, Conn.; sisters, Mamie Skurdal of Williston, N.D.; and Edna Broome, of Tuscon, Ariz; stepbrothers, Thomas (Dianne) Kulseth of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Louise; and an infant brother.

Pallbearers were Daniel Stephans, Kevin, Blake, Mark, Michael, James and Greg Williamson, and Robert Kulseth. Honorary pallbearers were Gabrielle Stephans, and Jared, Chelsea, Matthew and Mitchell Williamson.

Interment was at Calvary cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Stanley Thompson

Funeral services for Stanley Franklin Thompson, 59, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 15 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Joe Whalen officiated.

Thompson died Oct. 8, 2002. He was born July 20, 1943 in Fort Frances, Ontario. He served in the U.S. Army for 24 years, was president and broker of A-1 Custom Realty Inc., served on the Minnesota Realtors Association board, and was a VFW lifetime member and vice commander.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona; daughters, Jean (Steve) Thompson, Mara (Terry) Olson, Christi (Tom) East; grandchildren, Andrew, Justin, Tonya, Kaitlynn, Jordyn, Christa and Marcus; mother, Edna; sisters, Rojean (Mike) Schreiber, Leslie (Bill) Knoblauch; in laws, Rev. Harvey and BeBe Peterson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hank; brothers, Mike and Harvey; and aunt, Alice.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Irene Zopfi

Funeral services for Irene P. Zopfi (Smith), 91, Anoka, took place Oct. 24 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated.

Zopfi died Oct. 19, 2002 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born July 8, 1911 in Zimmerman to Andrew B. and Estelle D. (Higgins) Carter. She was a retired bank teller at the 1st National Bank of Anoka and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Sandy) Smith, Dennis (Tonie) Smith; daughter, Lynn (Rudy) Vraspir; stepson, David Zopfi; granddaughters, Monica (Brian) Kuhl, Julie (Daryl) Bartell, Wendy (Chad) Sundberg, Lisa (Greg) Spah, Robin (John) Sylvester, Lisa (Scott) Ruud Banken, Susan (Todd) Boyer, Kris (Eric) Gentry, Shannon Smith; grandsons, Kevin Crute, Jason (Julie) Ruud, Christopher Smith, Sean (Maria) Crute; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lester Smith and August Zopfi; grandson, Jeffrey Crute; parents; sisters, Orpha, Lillie and Alice; and brothers, Garland, Clair, Maurice and Andrew.

Pallbearers were Scott Banken, Chad Sundberg, Daryl Bartell, Kevin and Sean Crute and Jason Ruud.

Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Rickie Apple

Funeral services for Rickie T. Apple, 41, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 29 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Brenda Kramer King officiated.

Apple died Oct. 26, 2002 at Regions Hospital, St. Paul. He was born July 22, 1961 in Lingmont, Conn., to Gerald and Darline Apple, and was a master plumber.

He is survived by his wife, Tami; children, Mary (Shawn) Sommers, Joshua and Megan Apple; grandson, Austin; granddaughter, Presley; father and mother, Gerald and Darline; sisters, Vickie (Howard) Brawner and Jodie (Jimmy) Rickman; and mother- and father-in-law, Margaret and Howard Sutherlund.

Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
