Mabel Barth
Funeral services for Mabel Luella Barth, 79, Cedar, took place Oct. 25 at West Bethel United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim McChesney officiated.
Barth died Oct. 22, 2002 at Cambridge Medical Center. She was born Dec. 19, 1922 to Agnes and Ville Sylvester, attended Dyers Corner School and graduated from St. Francis High School. She and her family operated Dyers Corner Market and Swirly Top and then Harry's Home Center in Soderville.
She is survived by her children, Sam and wife Marcia Barth of Cedar, Brenda and husband Clifford Williams of Seattle, Wash., Julie and husband Dennis Adams of Columbia, Mo.; grandchildren, Robbie Barth, Gabe, Wendy and Christy Williams, and Tarah and Chelsea Adams; brother, Bob Sylvester of Bethel; sister, Adonna Carpenter of Isanti; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry.
Pallbearers were Dick, Bob, Raymond and Tom Sylvester, and Delano and Dean Carpenter.
Interment was at Oak Leaf cemetery. Arrangements were by Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home, Cambridge.
Hazel Broadbent
Funeral services for Hazel P. Broadbent, 93, Wyoming, took place Oct. 25, 2002 at Wyoming United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Smith and Patricia (Vernon) Rylander; daughter-in-law, Julie Herring; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; two step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius; son, Clinton; and five siblings.
Arrangements were by Mattson Funeral Home, Forest Lake.
Neil Emerick
Funeral services for Neil O. Emerick, 77, Andover, took place Oct. 30 at Church of St. Paul. Rev. Timothy Nolan officiated.
Emerick died Oct. 25, 2002 in Fridley. He was born Feb. 23, 1925 in Shamokin, Pa., to George and Hilda Emerick and was a supervisor for Honeywell.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children, Michael (Patti) Emerick, Vicky (David) Relf, Doug (Patti) Kettler, Paul (Nancy) Kettler, Kris (Kevin) Hondl, Debbie Kettler; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parent; first wife, Jackie; and stepson, Greg Kettler.
Pallbearers were Paul and Doug Kettler, Kevin Hondl, David and Denny Relf, and Danny Benson.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Coon Rapids.
Viola Grosslein
Funeral services for Viola Marie Grosslein, 88, Rogers, took place Oct. 23 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Grosslein died Oct. 20, 2002 at The Wellstead of Rogers. She was born Nov. 24, 1913 in Big Lake to Albert Maas and Pauline K. Lenz. She was a retired teacher.
She is survived by her son, Robert A. Grosslein; and grandsons, Gabriel, Jacob and Welsey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Grosslein.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Adelia Holasz
Funeral services for Adelia L. Holasz, 81, Foley, Ala., formerly of St. Paul, took place Oct. 24 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, Foley. Rev. Theodore Hay officiated.
Holasz died Oct. 21, 2002.
She is survived by her son, Ray Holasz; daughters, Cynthia Ann McLinn and Raenay A. Smith; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Pine Rest Funeral Home, Foley, Ala.
Lawrence Kessler
Lawrence 'Larry' Kessler, 79, Brooksville, Fla., died Oct. 19, 2002 at Hernando/Pasco Hospice, Brookville.
He was born in Leola, S.D., and owned and and operated Kessler's Bakery on Main Street, Anoka, from 1948 to 1978. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Leone Kessler; sons, Richard 'Dick' Kessler of Hallsville Texas, James Kessler of Littleton, Colo.; daughter, Nancy Cox of Brooksville; sister, Genevieve Livermore of California; brothers, Wilbur Keller of Midland, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Brewer and Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Services.
Elmer Koehler
Funeral services for Elmer C. Koehler, 88, Owatonna, took place Oct. 27 at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna. Rev. Giles Zimmer officiated.
Koehler died Oct. 24, 2002. He was born May 1, 1914 in Burns Township to John and Helena (Patzoldt) Koehler.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Koehler of Owatonna; and sister, Esther Lubrecht of Anoka.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Koehler; mother, Helena Patzoldt; an infant brother; and an infant sister.
Interment was at St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Burns Township. Arrangements were by Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna.
Bessie Otterson
Funeral services for Bessie M. Otterson, 91, Rogers, took place Oct. 24 at Dilworth Presbyterian Church.
Otterson died Oct. 20, 2002 at The Wellstead Assisted Living Center in Rogers. She was born Sept. 23, 1911 in Dickey, N.D., to Edward and Sarah (Taylor) Martin.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (Kenzie) Phelps of Clear Lake and Jane (Vern Ege) Miller of Anoka; brother, Lawrence Martin; grandchildren, Taylor (Laura) Phelps, Kendra (Dave) (Sahlstrom), and Janna Miller; great-grandchildren, Jack and Madison Sahlstrom; and sister-in-law, Willa Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur.
Interment was at Evergreen Memorial cemetery, Moorhead. Arrangements were by Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead.
Ione Packer
Funeral services for Ione Norma 'Cookie' Packer, 84, Cedar, took place Oct. 29 at Bethel Community Church. Revs. Michael Sullivan, Georgian and Winnie Banov, Chris and Jeri Woods officiating.
Packer died Oct. 25, 2002 at Unity Hospital. She was born April 20, 1918 in Coleraine to Charles and Dora Larson. She was a portrait artist, and a member of Toastmaster International, Aglow, Artists del Norte, Curves and the Porcelain Guild.
She is survived by her husband, David of Cedar; children, Jeri and husband Chris Woods of Tacoma, Wash., Winnie and husband Georgian Banov of New Orleans, La., Paul and wife Peggy Cook of Brooklyn Park, Carrol and husband Ron Lubich of Apple Valley, Lyn and husband Jim Holker of Brooklyn Park; sister, Doris Meyers of Winter Park, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leland Cook; brothers, Charlie Boy and Jerome; and sister, Helen Beeman.
Pallbearers were Dan, David and Paul Cook, Jim Holker, Ron Lubich and John Myers.
Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.
Betty Rubedor
Funeral services for Betty Marjorie Rubedor (Creger), 62, Bloomington, formerly of Isanti, took place Oct. 29 at Elim Baptist Church, Isanti. Rev. Roger Anderson officiated.
Rubedor died Oct. 25, 2002 at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Edina. She was born Jan. 21, 1940 in Backus to David and Marie Larson.
She is survived by her husband, James of Bloomington; daughters, JoDell Saint James of Eagan, Rosemary and Jeff Alexander and children Bill, Joe and Amanda of Isanti; sons, Bill and wife Pam Creger and children Chris and Ashley of Isanti, Darrin Creger and special friend Heather Anderson and children Jon, Randy, A.J., and Mikiala of St. Cloud, H.J. Creger and children, Brittany, Angel and Alex of Zimmerman; sisters, Thelma and husband Robert Jennings of Iowa, LaVon Daisy Parson of Texas; brothers, George and wide Wendy Parson of Florida, Bill and wife Rosemary Parson of Circle Pines; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by six brothers.
Pallbearers were Bill, Jeff and Joe Alexander, Joe Baysinger, Jon Creger and Gene Lund. Honorary pallbearers were Alex and Chris Creger.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.
Stanley Allen
Funeral services for Stanley R. Allen, 69, Mora, took place Nov. 1 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel. Rev. James Martin officiated.
Allen died Oct. 28, 2002 in Coon Rapids. He was born April 29, 1933 in St. Paul to Floyd and Luella Allen and was a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Deb (Ron) Lee, Mike (Deb) Allen, Scott Allen (Tanya Zook); grandchildren, Aaron, Dellene, Marissa, Jared, Lindsey, Carlie, Willy, Melanie; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Teanna; sisters, Donna Ray and Carol Walker; sister-in-law, Pat Allen; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
