Harrison Nichols
Funeral services for Harrison Scott Nichols, baby, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 13 at Woodcrest Baptist Church, Fridley. Rev. Poorman officiated.
He was born and died Dec. 7, 2002 at Unity Hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Scott and Lynn Nichols; brothers, Addison Nichols; sister, Ellington Nichols; grandparents, Robert and Elaine Nichols, Sylvia Shalles; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Richard Olson
Funeral services for Richard V. Olson, 75, Shoreview, took place Dec. 18 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. John Kerr officiated.
Olson died Dec. 12, 2002 at his residence. He was born Nov. 14, 1927 in Brandon. He was a retired accountant at Honeywell and a decorated World War II veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; and other family members.
Interment was private at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Cassia Stellmach
Funeral services for Cassia Lea Stellmach, 18, Bethel, took place Dec. 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Francis. Rev. Jack Baumgarn officiated.
Stellmach died Dec. 8, 2002 in an auto accident in Cambridge. She was born Sept. 7 in Minneapolis to Bradley and Diana Stellmach. She was a senior at St. Francis High School.
She is survived by her mother, Diana Stellmach of Bethel; father, Brad Stellmach of Rock Creek; brother, Adam of Bethel; stepbrother, Kolten Quellhorst of Blaine; stepsisters, Amanda Johnson of Isanti, Ayna and Kayla Quellhorst of Blaine; grandparents, Betty and Leroy Lane of Grand Rapids, Adeline Fields of Coon Rapids, Donald and Marlene Mishler of Cloverton; great-grandmothers, Lydia Mishler of Cloverton, Betty Oehrlein of St. Cloud; boyfriend, Kyle Craig of St. Francis; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Taften Colbaugh, Brian and Jason Mishler, Emily Pryor, and Brian, Jason and Jeff Stellmach.
Interment was at Oak Leaf cemetery, East Bethel. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.
Loring Tollefson
Funeral services for Loring Ted Tollefson, 47, Fridley, took place Dec. 11 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Tollefson died Dec. 8, 2002 at his home. He was born in Minneapolis to Gladys M. and Chester Tollefson. He worked at Rise, Inc. for 27 years and was a member of 4-H and Arc of Anoka County.
He is survived by his parents, Gladys and Chester of Anoka; brother, David C. Tollefson of Virginia; sister, Joyce M. Capp (Ronald) of New Ulm; nieces, Kristine and Kelsey Tollefson; and nephew, Travis Tollefson.
Pallbearers were Ron Dietz, Keith and Miles Edmundson, Jeff and Tom Tollefson and Mark Wahlin. Honorary pallbearers were the staff and employees of Rise, Inc. and staff of Mainsl Group Home.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home.
Phyllis Brewster
Funeral services for Phyllis Elaine Brewster, 72, Blaine, took place Dec. 19 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. William Sappington officiated.
Brewster died Dec. 16, 2002 in Blaine. She was born Oct. 28, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was a retail collection agent.
She is survived by her children, Patti Leuthard, Steven and Dave Brewster; grandchildren, Charlotte and Meredith Leuthard, Jeremy Foss and Benjamin Brewster; and sister, Shirley Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucy Nowicki.
Pallbearers were David Brewster, Jerry Pittman, and John Sr. and John Jr. Leuthard.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Bertha Brown
Funeral services for Bertha Brown, 41, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 19 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Brown died Dec. 14, 2002 in Coon Rapids. She was born May 17, 1961 in Clinton, Miss., to Alberta Brown and was employed in health care.
She is survived by her sons, Nathanial Davis and Daniel L. Davis; mother, Alberta Brown; sisters, Lorraine Bernard, Annie Brown and Rita Brown; brother, Stanley Brown; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Evelyn Costello
Funeral services for Evelyn I. Costello, 78, Anoka, took place Dec. 21 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Dale Erhman officiated.
Costello died at the Anoka Care Center Dec. 17, 2002. She was born in Anoka Nov. 1, 1924 to Edwin and Belle (Vandecar) Swanson. She was retired from the state of Minnesota and Munsingwear.
She is survived by her son, Jack; grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Katie and Garrett; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel; granddaughter, Jean Marie Costello; parents, Edwin and Belle Swanson; brother, Robert E. Swanson; and nephew, Bruce Swanson.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Kenneth DeJarlais
Funeral services for Kenneth F. DeJarlais, 80, Champlin, took place Dec. 26 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock and Chaplain Gretchen Thompson officiated.
DeJarlais died Dec. 19, 2002 at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1922 in Champlin to Frederick DeJarlais and Abbie Ferron. He was an excavating contractor and owner of the Community Service Center in Champlin.
He is survived by his daughters, Renee Kuno, Denise DeJarlais (Robert Peterson), Sharon Westmiller; son, Jeff (Cathy Ann); grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Ingrid, Severin, Lindsay, Rebecca, Phillip and April; brother, Philip; sister, Inez Frederickson; and special friend, Ruth Stephens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn M. DeJarlais; and brother, Leo.
Interment was at Champlin cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Alex Grant
Funeral services for Alex L. Grant, 48, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 20 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Mark Miller officiated.
Grant died Dec. 15, 2002. He was born Dec. 13, 1954 and was a warehouse supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Jeff; daughter, Lesley; sister, Norma (Donald) Anderson; brothers-in-law, Mark Martin; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Winnie Grant; and sister, Debbie Martin.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Ethel McLean
Funeral services for Ethel McLean, 81, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 23 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bill Steinke officiated.
McLean died Dec. 19, 2002. She was born Sept. 19, 1921 in Minneapolis and was a retired 25-year employee at Honeywell.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Robinson (John); granddaughters, Lisa Richards (Cal); great-grandchildren, Dustin, Ryley, Brittany, Beau; sister, Agnes Niemela (John); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; and sisters, Jenny Johnson, Minnie Shaft and Evelyn Sangren.
Interment was at Crystal Lake cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Nancy Menke
Funeral services for Nancy M. Menke, 51, Mounds View, took place Dec. 28 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bill Steinke officiated.
Menke died Dec. 18, 2002 in Mounds View. She was born Nov. 1, 1952.
She is survived by her parents, Joyce M. Bell and Wilmur L. Menke; brother, David Menke; sister, . Karen Strickland; son, Brian K. (Traci); grandsons, Seth and Cyrus; daughter, Elizabeth; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
