Funeral services for Jackie Marie Hirsch, 57, Champlin, took place March 19 at Eternal Hope Lutheran Church. Rev. Roger K. Dramstad officiated.
Hirsch died March 17, 2003 at her home. She was born Oct. 27, 1945 in Aitkin to Lester Maron and June A. Anderson and was a business broadcast manager for an advertising company.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; sons, Scott and Chris; mother, June Maron; sisters, Marlys (Steve) Ruth, Leslie Maron; nieces, nephews and their children; and many other cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Maron; and her grandparents.
Pallbearers were Scott and Chris Hirsch, John Erickson, Mike Maron, David Baxter and J.P. Janson.
Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
Ethel Johnson
Funeral services for Ethel Sophie Johnson 'The Quilting Lady, ' 96, Coon Rapids took place March 21 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman R. Berg officiated.
Johnson died March 14, 2003. She was born Sept. 28, 1906 in Synnes Township to Charles Bruer and Ida Pederson and was retired from retail sales.
She is survived by her sons, Harlan (Elegia Rose), David (Pam), Courtney (Janice) and Noel (Janice M.); daughter, Luella Anderson (Gary Weers); grandchildren, Sheryl Kardong, Keith, Dainnella, Bertha, Nykol and Chris Johnson, Kerri, Jere and John Anderson, Sheri Huot and Jolene Botten; nine great-children; and friend, Curt Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; and grandson, Jeffrey Johnson.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Henry Jung
Funeral services for Henry G. Jung, 84, Coon Rapids, took place April 5 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Mike VanSloun officiated.
Jung died March 21, 2003 at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids. He was born Oct. 23, 1918 in St. Paul to George E. and Frances (Krtocius) Jung. He was a retired civil defense commander.
He is survived by his son, Mike (Judy) Jung; grandchildren, John (Andrea) Jung and Nancy Lynch; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Austin Lynch and Kyle Jung; and sisters, Frances Rauen and Lora Ballas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; and parents, George and Frances Jung.
Interment was at Ft. Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
William Kostal
Funeral services for William David Franklin Kostal, 44, Ramsey, took place March 18 at Kingswood Church. Rev. Alan Goracke officiated.
Kostal died March 13, 2003. He was born Jan. 20, 1959 in Denver, Colo., and was a freight team operator at Home Depot.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya; children, Russell, Joshua, Nancy; father, Craig; brother, Terry; mother-in-law, Nancy and Stephen Leeson; and grandparents-in-law, David and Lavonne Bear.
He was preceded in death by his mother; sister; brother; and grandmother.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washb-urn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Clarine Madsen
Funeral services for Clarine L. Madsen, 74, Anoka, took place March 21 at Milltown Lutheran Church, Milltown, Wis. Rev. Danny Wheeler officiated.
Madsen died March 18, 2003 at her home. She was born May 18, 1928 in Platteville Township, Wis., to Lewis Jensen and Stella Larson. She was retired from Cornelius of Anoka.
She is survived by her children, Darlene (Terrance) Soltis, Harlan (Ginger) Madsen, Marilyn (Richard) Volbruck, Wayne (Kathie) Madsen; mother, Stella Jensen; special friend, Jim Domogalla; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Inoa VanGundy, Iola Bording and Gloria Olson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James.
Pallbearers were Douglas and Cory Soltis, Thomas Madsen, Albert Schafer, Roger Guerra and Steven Campbell.
Interment was at Haustrup cemetery, Luck, Wis. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Gregory Mills
Funeral services for Gregory P. Mills, 54, Anoka, will take place today (Friday, March 28), 4 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock will officiate.
Mills died March 16, 2003 in Minneapolis. He was born March 27, 1948 to William P. and Isadore S. (Brakken) Mills.
He is survived by his sister, Sandra Rogers; and brothers, Wayne and Dean Mills.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Isadore Mills; and infant sister, Roberta.

Vern Abel
Private family services took place for Vern E. Abel, 70, Ham Lake.
Abel died March 16, 2003 at his home. He was born May 8, 1932 in Plum City, Wis., and was a school bus driver.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; and other family and friends.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Martha Atsch
Funeral services for Martha M. Atsch, 92, Coon Rapids, took place March 27 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. James Donald officiated.
Atsch died March 24, 2003 at Park River Estates Care Center. She was born Sept. 17, 1910 to Frank Mathias and Victoria Berlik.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Barbara); grandchildren, Christine (Robert) Krebs and Larry Atsch; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Katlyn Krebs; and sisters, Ann Wick, Valorais Wiessner, Elsie Sherren and Margaret Babler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; daughter, Janice Goehlen; and son, Robert.
Interment was in Milwaukee, Wis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Elvera Darmer
Funeral services for Elvera Mildred Darmer, 63, Andover, took place March 27 at Grace Lutheran Church, Andover. Rev. Mark Hellmann officiated.
Darmer died March 23, 2003 at her home. She was born April 4, 1939 in Olivia to Christian A. Krumwiede and Matilda Willemssen, and was a bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; daughters, Wanda (Paul) Jerousek, Kari (David) Kell; stepdaughter, Sheryl Darmer; grandchildren, Jason, Jenny, Mitchell, Misty, Bryan, Kassandra, Tyler, Brady, Kyle; sister, Norma (Keith) Gates; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law; son; son-in-law; and granddaughter.
Pallbearers were Jason Scradeck, Mitchell Hecker, Bryan Kell, Howard Darmer, Neil Fenne and Keith Larson.

Clarence Gray
Funeral services for Clarence 'Bud' K. Gray, 89, Annandale, took place April 2 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Gray died March 29, 2003 at Annandale Care Center. He was born Dec. 30, 1913 in Ely to Carl C. Gray and Sophie Stoltz and was a retired photographer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline 'Dickie;' parents; and brother, Harold Gray.
Interment was at Lakeview cemetery, Nowthen. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Pauline Halsey
Funeral services for Pauline Peterson Halsey, 88, Anoka, took place March 29 at First Baptist Church. Rev. Abe Cardosa officiated.
Halsey died March 25, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Nov. 11, 1914 in Browning, Mo., to Grover C. Jennings and Bertha J. Tharp, and was retired from clerical work at the Anoka County Courthouse.
She is survived by her husband, Clifton Halsey; son, David (Bonnie) Peterson; daughter, Judith (Dr. John) Look; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Collins.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merril Peterson; and three brothers.
Interment was at Locust Valley cemetery, Browning, Mo. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
